BB's Coffee & Muffins in Ipswich

Nice cafe for a stop off for a coffee and cake.

The coffee shop is not that bad. It looks nice and clean. But the muffins and drinks are really bad. The muffins were dry and tasteless, and the coffee was cheap and bitter. It was my first time there, and I won't be going back. I wouldn't even touch the food or drinks there if they were free.

The food and service are really good, and this is often the place of choice for us if we're in and around the Sailmakers because of the consistence. There are some great freshly made cakes and pastries on offer.

Genuinely a great place to be. I have had a few issues and today I had the biggest issue of all. I can't see my previous review to edit it but it was a humiliating experience. However I went back and the man who I was previously speaking about tried to make amends. He explained his side and I explained mine and we've put it behind us physically. But I will forever be affected by it but he apologised

Nice calm atmosphere. You order and unlike most chain coffee shops, they bring your drinks to the table. I went for a Banoffee Frappe, which was delicious, wasn’t sickly at all! My friend went for a Jammie Dogder Frappe (pictured) Standard price for drinks, mine was £4.25. The muffins looked great, perhaps I’ll try one next time! There were also flavoured lattes & hot chocolate etc. This cafe would probably do better if it wasn’t in Sailmakers! The sign on the high street was what drew us in.

On this day the place was very pleasant to sit and have lunch. Staff were very nice.

I recommend it, the service is great. Delicious coffee.

Everything looked good but the egg mayonnaise sandwich totally lacked taste. Ham salad sandwich was the cheap ham and no mayo or seasoning available.

Great place for a coffee & delicious muffins 😋😋😋 or like I just had so tasty jacket potato with chicken tikka and fresh salad😋 Staff is ever so friendly and make you feel very welcome. Always happ and serve you with the smile on the face what makes your experience even better. Been there few times and definitely will be back!!! Thanks Guys!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

I’ve been going how for a long time when I started was very good no issues. Since management has changed and new staff came in realised a few issues but not too bothered went in today to see prices had gone up (large cappuccino) when I got my coffee it was half the size as it was previously and on top of it wasn’t the coffee I’m used to, very milky and disappointing. Unfortunately I work in the area and get discount but never got it. Won’t be going back no which is sad. Better places in the area which are cheaper and have a better coffee overall.

Nice cosy place within sailmakers shopping centre in the heart of Ipswich town centre. Parking close by on top of Lloyds avenue or buttermarket. Great selection and option in both sandwiches and drinks along with breakfast. Friendly staff and very helpful...

The prices are ridiculous £3.15 for a pale looking and not so nice tasting sausage roll advertised cheaper but they handle put the new prices out

Excellent selection of freshly made cakes & pastries, toasties, paninis on show etc. Thought we'd try the bacon in brioch bun and a sausage roll, pot of tea and a green tea and peach ice tea. Sadly the bacon was fatty and not good quality and about 4 rashes which was a bit excessive for a round bap. The ice tea was mainly syrup, my teeth almost jumped out of my mouth! I was patient enough in the hope that the ice would help dilute the mixture, but after 20 mins of stiring and having had 2 sips, I had to leave it. I could've queued again to have things rectified but didn't have the time.

Lovely food and drink..the muffins are always baked to perfection and taste like good ol home baking..such a shame that the staff working today were unfriendly and not very helpful..never have experienced this before, we were very disappointed

Nice little cafe friendly staff

This is a lovely quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Located in the Buttermarket Shopping centre you are one minute from the town centre. They have a great range of teas and coffees as well as cool drinks for those hot days (when they come back). There is a really good selection of hot food options from sausage rolls, a must try to paninis. The thing you must try are their muffins. All made fresh in store with an exceptional range to choose from.

Lovely coffee shop, delicious toasted sandwiches and panini, and then there's the cakes mmmm! Also has toilet facilities with disabled and baby change. Lovely staff. Update - still a very good coffee shop. Very busy this morning, which is good 👍. Would be nice if there were a couple of vegan sandwich options.

This is the main cafe in Sailmakers, so is convenient for shopping expeditions and meetings. The service and range are very good.

They will not give you the same service if you only call in for coffee. I think they get miffed if you pass on the food.

Visited Ipswich shop 3pm today, thought it was closed as we waited to be served whilst girl finished sweeping up behind counter next to uncovered food before serving us. Had a cup of tea and this is what my milk came in! Wanted a cake, but there was quite a few fruit flies on them and flying around the cabinet, she said they just "shoo'd" them off as she couldn't do anything about them!! Won't be going back there!!!

I haven't been in a cafe for many years but popped in to bb's for a quick drink and muffin. I expected the muffin the have the usual cheap taste but I was pleasantly surprised as it was so tasteful and not sickly. It was busy with only 2 members of staff working with a batista named Sophie being at the forefront. No stress, no panic, everyone is calm and chilled. I was very impressed. Keep it up!

This is not the first time the service here has been bad. Just had to write this time , was waiting to be served for nearly 10 minutes kept calling the staff from the kitchen. the girl chose to ignore us and carry on with whatever she was doing in kitchenthere was a staff member just stood by the counter she had obviously finished her shift and wasn't going to help or call the staff member from Kitchen. The manager lazily pushed a broom by the front of the shop andtgen stood chatting In the sail makers shopping centre the. Brought the broom in the shop and wandered through the sale makers with the off duty staff member we did get served after about10/15 minute from the staff member who was in the kitchen, . She was rude very uninterested wouldn't know what customers service was and the drinks she made awful. As I said this hasn't been the first time the service g has been bad but it will be the last

it was the best tasting muffin iv tasted 4 a very long while an it was also nice 2 eat with my coffee the staff was helpful an took my tray 2 the table the toilet was well kept clean being a loo 4 all an the camera's that hung from the walls made it a lovely talking subject as imin to photography

The muffins are some of the best in town! Prices are great and the customer service is very good too. However, when I arrived for lunch, I noticed a lack of choice for savoury foods.

Centrally located and right in the heart of Ipswich's shopping area, BBs is a delightful, well managed muffin shop set amidst a multitude of outlets in the Sailmakers shopping mall. I've used BBs quite a lot recently because it's so handy for that welcome break whilst shopping and such a comfortable place to meet up with friends for that quick natter whilst enjoying a great coffee and bite to eat. BBs Muffin Shop is bright, cheery and spotlessly clean throughout, and although quite spacious, it still retains that comfortable, cosiness which is so nice when dining out. The food served here is also very good being freshly made each morning. My particular favourite is of course the muffins, especially the apple and cinnamon variety, and fruit scones which are just yummy! Coffees are amongst the best I've tasted in Ipswich. BBs staff are all very polite, pleasant and friendly and are quick to clear tables as soon as they become vacant. Although there's only one toilet for everyone's use, like the rest of BBs, it's quite spacious, and staff keep it spotlessly clean. So how would I sum up BBs? Well, I can only think of good things to say about it which says it all really, and probably the reason why it's fast becoming a very popular place to eat in Ipswich. I'll end my review by saying, sometimes it's nice just to sit outside in BBs seated terrace with a coffee watching shoppers busily passing by clutching their bargains and discussing what they've bought in the sales. People watching is a great pastime, if you've got the time! Try it sometime. But try BBs first – you won't be disappointed! Happy dining! Lee A.

The muffins in BBs are delicious, however the customer service can be lacking. In my last two visits I have been given the incorrect drink both times. I also find that the staff will say hello to you and start taking your order before being distracted by another member of staff and turning away without so much as an "excuse me". The glasses for tea are not the cleanest (streaked from a dishwasher I imagine) and the panini I had previously was underfilled and overcooked. In all I would say pick up your muffin to take out but make sure you get the one you ordered.

I was in the cafe earlier today and as I went in and ordered the women who was working there didn't know how to make certain things on the menu but luckily another staff member came back and made it for us.

Avoid if you have allergies !! the staff member that served us was moody and petulant to say the least and had NO understanding of food allergies at all , cross contaminated a gluten free muffin and couldn't understand why it would be a problem !! just became stroppy when pointed out the problem , won't be visiting here again , would rather look elsewhere and find a cheery manner and some food intolerence/allergy awareness

Very friendly staff, quite small cafe in Ipswich, would highly recommend! The menu could be better but if you like the classic, cakes, sandwiches then this is the one for you! If you want actually meals then it’s not the cafe for you but if you want a snack I would highly highly recommend!

Was a regular customer. Wanted the Festive Muffin deal of 4 for £7.50. Sadly staff said not possible and it was £9.30. The staff were standing right next to the Festive Deal board but just shrugged their shoulders. Nobody seemed to be able to explain it. Hate being robbed.

Popped in with my little boy while out shopping having not been in the Ipswich branch before. The tables were filthy and the toilet was disgusting - and clearly not from just today, it was a messy build up from several days or even weeks which had been overlooked. The staff didn't smile or say please or thank you either, very unwelcoming, the complete opposite to the castle mall cafe in Norwich. The muffin was lovely though - only good part!

Always in there getting my coffee very polite staff there muffins made every day take them home for my kids they live them.

I visit BB's on in a regular basis. I find the coffee is lovely, the muffins great and the staff are very lovely and accommodating. My only criticism is they stopped the muffins with the chocolate ladies on, I now have to make do with the chocolate balls 😊.

this is a great place for coffee and muffin, they are baked on site daily and have a great selection. if you are lucky you will catch them as they have just baked some and these are truly wonderful.

This a popular meeting place for myself and my family. They do the best muffins and always have a wide selection of flavours. The coffee is also a tastey treat on a cold day. They have a selection of sadwiches and rolls aswell. The staff are happy and friendly and its nice to see a familiar face when you walk in. Prices are very competitive and I would always choose BBs over the other large coffee shops. Situated in the Sailmakers lower mall so u can sit outside and not get cold or wet. Great for friend or family meet ups.

Where do I even begin, me and my co-worker visited today, we were really not impressed. Firstly, both of us asked for coffees with syrups; neither of us got the syrups, making the drinks plain and boring. Then, the manager rudely presented us our drinks in a disrespectful manner, which left us emotionally distressed while leaving the establishment. He also had the nerve to not put the lid on properly causing my suit to look ruined and unprofessional. All in all, we were not satisfied with our visit and will not be returning, you’re better off going to Costa or Starbucks as you get your money’s worth.

Love this place. Staff are always happy and friendly. Food and muffins are not to be missed. It has become a weekly stop for lunch, on my own or with the wife.

Great place to stop by to have great muffins. Price wise £2.10 per muffin and coffee £2.80 (large). There's a special price for £4.40 regular coffee with muffin, if you don't see the advert they don't tell you.

We came across this cafe after a rare trip into town. It is in a prominent position in Sail Makers and was constantly busy throughout our visit. We just had coffee which was very good. There are a vast range of sweet and savoury snacks on offer. Staff are really pleasant and service was very swift. Definitely worth a visit.

I tried this just by chance as I was meeting somebody nearby and was lured in by the smell of coffee. What a surprise. A warm smiling welcome and a comfortable chair was quickly provided. The coffee was excellent as was the muffin I was tempted to. This place is clean and bright with a quirky decor which is amusing. The outside "garden area" is a place I like to sit and watch the world go by.I was pleased to see disabled toilets provided. All in all a great little place with good service and nothing too much trouble. Conveniently near the 'bus services.Now my regular coffee shop.

went in here as was really fancying a cool frappe and yes though more expensive than the local pubs this was nicer and also had a toasted teacake that was bought to my table promptly and lovely and hot. This place has a disabled toilet and good helpful staff on hand ready to help if needed.

We regularly drop in for a pot of tea when shopping in Ipswich. A good pot for two in a proper china teapot with more than enough milk for the four cups of tea.

Went in here later in the day so was relatively quiet. (Thurs pm 7th Oct).

This was the worst service I had received ever! I had a Vanilla I Ed latte which is my fave coffee drink and i wanted to be naughty and got a slice of cake, I asked for the millionaire shortcake slice with it read the label and that's what it said but she gave me a salted caramel and Hazlehead nut slice won't lie it was nice but I said to woman behind the till if I had a but allergy you would of had a serious problem as the labels are the wrong way around and and they both look the same, the other woman changed it and said * oh well it's done now * told her no need for the attitude! But they didn't care this is displayed bad customer service
