Attended a wedding with family on Saturday 24th August when we found the proprietor Zoe extremely rude, impatient and insensitive to the needs of her clients. She was not accommodating in any way and the venue was not at all inviting, the wedding party and guest made the event a wonderful experience but the owner/manager was awful. There was no working lift which resulted in two people falling and being injured, one remaining in hospital, other elderly people were carried upstairs as the lift was not operating. The Seating was split between upstairs and down and they were not willing to provide cutlery for the meal as the number exceeded their set number of guests, but they still allowed the booking.When the accident occurred owner Zoe showed very little concern and was rude towards the guest as they became upset at the lack of lift facilities. She ordered people into their seats when speeches were starting with such an aggressive attitude, her behaviour was appalling. The list of complaints was excessive. I would absolutely definitely not recommend this venue.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here and the staff were very attentive

Very quiet as only three tables in and we were downstairs. Small menu - main courses acceptable but desserts were nicer.

I only came here for drinks and dancing, so I can't review the food. The venue is lovely, split into a smaller downstairs and a very large upstairs with triple height ceilings and a mezzanine walkway that overlooks it. Lots of natural light. Bar staff was nice and the drinks were reasonably priced.

Went to a baby shower here and venue was beautiful, staff efficient and friendly

Visited here before going to a show at rhe Wolsey theatre, 2 course menu was good, although amount of chicken was very small.

Absolutely abysmal....no atmosphere.Unhelpful and unfriendly staff who couldn't care less about customer service.... Although we had booked a table in advance, the area we booked was not available as a large party was booked in there also! Alternative table underwhelming to say the least. Asked if the volume of the music could be lowered due to hearing impairment and was made to feel uncomfortable... disability discrimination. Don't bother going there.

Went for my father’s birthday. Food and service excellent and a lovely touch to bring out a little birthday cake with candle for him.

A bit disappointing. Place needs a lick of paint, is looking a bit tired inside and the service was not great. Food was very nice though. Such a shame as has the potential to be amazing.

The only criticism was that it was very snug on the tables. you were practically sitting on top of each other, which made it very awkward and uncomfortable to eat.

The team had a wonderful lunch for the managers birthday, beautiful venue, great food brilliant service. Highly recommended 👌 hopefully return very soon.

We had our wedding reception here in August of this year. I contacted Zoe after being let down by our original venue just three months before our wedding, and she couldn’t have been more brilliant! I had a quote the same day as I’d first emailed her, with everything on that we wanted. My son, maid of honour and I visited the venue shortly after and were welcomed by Zoe and her staff who answered all our questions. Arlingtons itself is a beautiful venue, decorated in a really cool and quirky style, perfect for our wedding reception! On the day itself, everything ran like clockwork; plenty of staff, lovely food and a great atmosphere. The place was spotless, and Zoe, Elliot and the team were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We had the Woodland Afternoon Tea for us and our guests, which was absolutely delicious. I can’t recommend Arlingtons highly enough, it really is the loveliest place to be.

Attended a networkingvevent that was serviced excellently - staff and food - a great venue and space, historically interesting, beautiful staircase and wooden floors, upper room is splendid with a high gallery for additional seating. Fully recommend.

I was really looking forward to Arlingtons, as it had been recommended. So initial impressions were not great, cold with massive air conditioning units featured around the restaurant, there was no sense of intimacy. Ordered a bottle of malbec (trivento) that retails for a maximum 8 pounds in any supermarket, it has been charged at 27 pounds per bottle. No other wine choice. The food was good, but the wait time was over an hour for the main ( there was one hen party in) but the lack of atmosphere and the mark up on a bottle of wine that I wouldn't buy from a supermarket did not make it a good experience. I would not book again. Disappointing. Please sort the atmosphere and wine selection...

Excellent food, decor and company. So welcoming and nothing was too much. A great selection of choices both food and from the bar. Zoë the manager was lovely and Bella was so polite Can’t wait to go back

Recently visited for afternoon tea, and what an absolutely lovely experience we had. The staff were all very warm and friendly, with excellent customer service. A special mention has to go to Elliott. You will not leave this place hungry! Such a large amount of food for afternoon tea, we left with a goodie bag! Something my husband was not expecting! The food was delicious. Very fresh, all home made, even the flowers were edible. Best afternoon tea we've had, and highly recommend. We will be back!

This is the 3rd time we have visited for afternoon tea. We were seated by the window downstairs with relaxing music playing in the background. All the food was lovely but especially the warm sausage rolls. The cocktails were great. Elliott the manager came over to us a number of times to make sure we were enjoying the food and drink and to top up refresh the tea pot. Please go and try this and we will be back soon.

Attended with about 40-50 friends and family for my daughters 30 Birthday. We booked the downstairs function room which was absolutely spot on for what we wanted. All the staff we met were so helpful and kind, the bar staff were excellent and got praise from everyone who was there The manager too was lovely and thank you all for making it such a great night and making us all welcome.

Worth noting that only the downstairs room is open at lunchtime. Very pleasant few hours spent. Friendly staff. Not great Vegetarian selection for me, had a very crispy jacket potato. Portions not big either. Might be worth a return in the evening.

If I could give more stars I would. Dinner for 16 for a special anniversary after being let down by another at short notice. Zoe and her staff really did a fantastic job which will stay with us. Thank you.

Arlingtons’s helped us plan the most amazing surprise dinner for our mum’s 60th birthday. Zoe was fantastic all the way through from my initial email to the evening itself. The menu they provided was perfect and everyone loved their food. The staff on the night were all so lovely and even made up cocktails for us! I would thoroughly recommend Arlington’s for any event.

What cal I say ! What a lovely babyshower/afternoon tea where nothing was too much trouble for our waiter Elliott . He made the afternoon with his hard work ,wit,manners and all round pampering ! . He deserves a payrise !! The food was lovely the tea on tap and the mock tails delicious. Would definately recommend 100% Elliott we love you 🙂

Can't say I will ever recommend eating here! Service was super slow taken 2 hours to serve main meals and once receiving my main that I ordered (the beer battered Haddock) It doesn't deserve the £16.95 price tag the meal had. The fish was tiny and very dry, The chips was like off cuts of 4x2 wood dry and very little served with the meal plus on the menu it stated Curry sauce with tartare sauce was served. No Curry sauce was on my plate and no reason given why it wasn't there!!! So for the overall £50 we spent advise try somewhere else to get a filling meal and quicker service.

We just wanted to say a very big thank to you and your staff for making our wedding meal really special. The tables looked amazing and we managed to fit all 21 of us in your private dining area - with a little bit of reshuffling! The food was delicious and everyone commented how beautifully it was presented. Please pass on our thanks once again to your excellent staff on the day, who went out of their way to ensure that our time with you went smoothly. The atmosphere was so friendly and welcoming. All our dietary needs were catered for and everyone was very accommodating of the small children in our party! We would definitely recommend your venue.

Went to an event on sat! not enough tables! Was a ticketed event! so would have thought everyone would have been given table and seats!

Booked in for 18 of us for our belated, well deserved staff Christmas party last night, Arlington made us feel so welcome from entering into the door till the moment we left. Food was delicious, even said so by our sous chef. We all worked in the industry so we know when we see and taste a good plate of food. Name plates was organized by efficient staff, great drink choices, cocktails, non alcoholic cocktails etc, they were not only delicious to look at but also very yummy. Very pretty venue and we all had a fantastic evening. We will certainly come again, keep up the good work and thank you.

7/12/22 Here for Christmas Lunch with some ladies from Church. Very nicely decorated for Christmas, lovely tree, table decorations and mantle dressing. Meal included prosecco on arrival, good selection of meals to choose from. I had beef with all the trimmings yummy! Everyone said their choices were too! And coffee to follow. Thank you again Zoe and her wonderful team. 11/9/22 Back again for lunch with sister-in-law. We both had the Haddock and chips. Absolutely wonderful! Large portion of battered fish, very tasty. And the chips were "proper" chunky chips!! Also had vanilla cheesecake with fresh fruit topping. So delicious. Waitress was so nice too! Highly recommended. 1/9/22 Went here for pre-theatre brunch. Had 'fricassee of mushrooms in garlic sauce, on sourdough toast' Sorry no photo, it looked so delicious that I couldn't wait. And it didn't disappoint. Staff very nice. Going again next week for lunch. Will send photos, promise

I had breakfast here a few weeks ago and it was absolutely delicious. Beautifully decorated restaurant, friendly service and lovely fresh food. I returned on Friday for a Christmas party and again the food was absolutely superb. By far the best Christmas meal I have had out! I had roast beef which was cooked perfectly, still Juicy and pink despite catering for at least 80 people, absolutely stunning roasted vegetables, cauliflower cheese and a giant home-made Yorkshire pudding. Can't wait to eat here again and try more of the lovely food!

They hadn't provided enough stands for the amount of people or they certainly hadn't been spread out enough, so there was 6 of us down one end sharing a stand which served 4?! Fruit scones only, no plain which was a shame. Sandwiches very bog standard. A hair was found in one of the cakes, all cakes were the same no mixture again which was a shame. Atleast 5 members of staff working who all huddled in the bar, not once did they ask if we were OK, wanted any more tea or even offer extra drinks (I.e coffee or prosecco). I went and asked for more tea and scones as not enough and this wasn't met, I asked again for more tea which was eventually brought over but no extra scones brought over. A friend had the gluten free option which was served on a small plate not even a stand!! Included a Mr Kipling cake and a few sandwiches... no scone. One of the sandwiches for gluten free was avocado and chopped carrot?! No care or thought had been put into this at all. I came away hungry after have 2 sandwiches and a scone which I felt was awful when spending £21 ... and 2 small cups of tea. Staff clearly didn't really want to be there and you could tell they were fed up of us asking for things like extra tea. I wouldn't return.

Nice surroundings. Ample room for our party. Unfortunately the food although presented well was let down by there not being enough for the 22 guests. For £21 I personally received one cup of tea, 3x finger sandwiches and a scone. The waiting staff were not attentive. Two teapots between 11 on a table is clearly not enough. The gluten free guests were served separately on a plate. One of these sandwiches contained avocado and a bit of carrot! (See image) not appetising. Two guests found hairs in their cupcakes and then left the rest. Some decided to purchase a glass of prosecco and received a two thirds full glass (see image) but the server was told it was too full by another member of staff - I assumed that when you purchase a glass you would receive a full glass for £6.50. Nothing was mentioned today as nobody wanted to spoil the event. But I felt a little disappointed for my friend 🫤

What a cute place to go for lunch absolute shame that the quality of the food was mediocre at best paying for a jacket potato with additional costs for the toppings I would consider quite normal however the toppings were so poor even how lovely waitress was embarrassed! to make things worse when challenged on the poor serving the response was this has been fed back numerous times but nothing is changed ! The service was first class the food however needs a lot to be desired I’m hoping that this message may get through as their own staff seemed to not being listened to .

I have had a bottomless brunch and an evening meal there and both amazing! Food I can't fault at all, atmosphere amazing for bottomless brunch and nice and relaxed for evening meal, the decor is lovely and the staff very friendly! Would definitely recommend!

Went for a hen do afternoon/Sunday lunch. Being gluten free I opted for the roast pork, everyone else dinner came with a huge Yorkshire pudding, mine had nothing! The Yorkshires were huge and made up 3rd of the dinner. Disappointed in this. We were never told there would be a live singer, which was lovely, BUT so loud we couldn't hear each other talking.....

We did not have a meal we had tea coffee and cake which was good.

So nice to find somewhere where every course is well presented and delicious. Lovely setting and atmosphere, along with staff who are very helpful, all made for a lovely, memorable evening. Well done Zoe and your team - keep it up, we’ll definitely be back.

Our first visit since recent refurb. Whole venue looks great and welcoming. We ate in main restaurant and all food was excellent. We shared the Camembert and then had the cod loin and pork loin followed by a treacle tart and can recommend all of it. My wife loved the Arlington cocktail too. Wasn’t busy and so service was great. Pianist/singer was top notch but finished at 8.30 and we wished she had carried on. If you’re looking for high quality food at reasonable price in a great environment look no further.

My husband Giles and I had an early evening dinner at Arlingtons to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary…. I’d been years ago so was very excited to come again now that it has reopened under new management. Zoe, the manager, greeted us at the door with a smile and as there was a lively bunch of ladies in the main restaurant, she kindly offered us a more intimate table upstairs in the gallery - which was absolutely perfect. All the staff were super friendly and attentive, their timings impeccable for they just seemed to know when we were ready to order, still eating, needed something extra, or just simply relaxing. The menu has lots of variety…. I ordered the cod loin (this could’ve won a masterchef competition, it was cooked to perfection) and Giles had the vegan ‘steak’ - portobello mushroom with a caramelised onion centre. Even though he is a meat eater, he declared it one of the best steaks he’s ever had and would happily demolish another one very soon. The Australian Shiraz was delicious too….. unfortunately we were too full for puddings but I’d happily go back just for a pud on an afternoon shopping outing! They all sounded delicious. We also had the benefit of being serenaded by a super talented singer and pianist - Andi Hoppy - while we dined and this really was a wonderful way to celebrate 8 years of being married. It’s a beautiful venue, clean, bright and airy, with some pretty touches such as seats smothered in flowers, magnificent skylights, and lots of tiny sparkling lights high up level with the gallery.

Stunning food , 5 star delicious beautiful presentation compliments to the chefs. Attentive waitresses couldn’t do enough for us . Restaurant ambiance was fabulous totally recommend, if you haven’t been I suggest you go . Will definitely be booking again .

Today I had the pleasure of attending a cooking lesson I received on my Christmas meal. I had the choice of what I would like to cook, in which I chose a Beef Wellington. I took my dad along to the cooking lesson and was greeted with a free drink and by the chef Ashley and the owner Peter. They were very welcoming and made our experience very enjoyable. They took us to the kitchen where we learnt how they prepare their meals and the procedures they go through. All of their meals are freshly cooked with the best ingredients. Ashley the chef took us through step by step how to make the perfect beef wellington. As this cooked the chefs prepared me and my dad two starters in which we pleasantly enjoyed! Peter the owner sat and spoke to us about the ins and outs of Arlingtons and the history behind it. Me and my dad had the most amazing time and would highly recommend dining at Arlingtons! We want to thank them very much for such a lovely day and their hospitality.

I had the pleasure to visit Arlington’s today with my daughter Hannah. Hannah won a chance to cook a meal of her choice with head chef Ashley and his team. Together we were shown how to cook Beef Wellington. The chefs also cook us scallops and a pannacotta. All the food was exceptional. Peter the owner could not have been a better host. But what impressed me most was how dedicated all the team were to produce top quality food using the finest ingredients. The customer service was also top class. We weren't particularly impressed with the food but when we mentioned it we were impressed when the chef came out to explain why it was cooked the way it was (we found it over cooked) and that the waitress took time out to explain some of the history of the building.

Visited for the first time for a birthday meal. Delicious food. Beautifully presented. Scallops were velvety, rib eye steak was melt in the mouth and lamb was soo tasty. Grateful for the extra touch of a brownie with a candle for desert. Staff very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back and will bring the rest of the family.

I was meant to leave this review a while ago but this is the first chance I have got. I wanted to commend Arlingtons for hosting such a fantastic evening for our Christmas works do. The food was amazing, the entertainment of live music and magicians was such a nice touch. The staff made us feel very welcome and I can honestly say that was the best Christmas event I have been to. Well done and thumbs up to you xxx

Booked here to have staff lunch, left extremely disappointed told them about specific dietary requirements and the guy serving was rude, said nothing can be done.

This restaurant was booked by my nieces, who are not familiar with Ipswich, and so we did not know what to expect. It turned out to be an excellent choice with imaginative and tasty food (we had a selection of the 'small plates' and enjoyed sharing the different items). There is a lot of attractive and interesting artwork around the walls in this very unusual building to look at, and the host was extremely attentive. Waitress was first class, as was the food. Will definitely be coming back as I am new to the area and very pleased to have discovered it.

As the venue of choice to celebrate our recent engagement Arlingtons made us feel very special. Private dinning in the Darwin Room provided the intimate dinner we desired. Kate was exceptional in waiting on us, with the perfect balance of checking everything was OK without being intrusive. Peter the owner gave us a brief tour of the history of the building and was very exceptional in personalising out visit. We felt like we had been there every week for the past 10 years. We had the share plates menu, each dish was full of flavour and with 4 dishes there was more than enough food for the two of us. The bill was slightly more than a standard restaurant. But this was not a standard restaurant and we were more than happy with the food and service that we considered it to be a very reasonably priced place. You get what you pay for, in this case we paid for quality. Thank you we will be back.

We booked this for my mums birthday & were so pleased with our choice. It is set in a beautiful building with wonderful artwork all around. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We ordered from the sharing menu and enjoyed trying a range of dishes. Would definitely go again.

We went to a Burns night celebration. Atmosphere and food great. Evening started with a piper outside, drinks downstairs before going upstairs to eat.

Lovely afternoon at Arlingtons today. Very friendly attentive staff, great food. Made to feel there was no rush to leave. Will definitely go again. Try the BARE branded vodka too! 😊😊

Nice breakfast, a bit different to the usual which made a great change. Not in the main hub of town so nice and quiet. Will definitely return.

This was the second time we had had a meal from the sharing tapas-style so-called 'small plates' menu at Arlingtons. The first time had been on a whim (instead of the excellent a la carte menu we had used twice before) but it had been so refreshingly good we had to repeat it and try more dishes. There are some 25 or so well-crafted small plates to select from and although all are different they work together so well in seemingly any combination. 3-4 plates or so for a couple to share seems to work well, although it is hard to resist adding more they are so good! Jamie and Nethme were professional waiting staff and were always the perfect distance away from us if we needed anything. We met Michael the sous chef (usually second to head-chef but in charge the day we ate) who had been inspirational with everything he'd created. I don't class myself as a 'foodie' but I can now vouch for this type of affordable fine-dining.with what was clearly extremely fresh, passionately sourced, and extremely well cooked and served food. And you need to try the 'beetroot sorbet' if it is an extra on any of the plates they put together (you don't get anything like THAT on the chained restaurants' menus which I have (until now!) been using all my life. Highly recommended.

Just enjoyed a fabulous afternoon tea at Arlingtons.the service was amazing, very friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food was delicious and we felt there was plenty. We had to take some home! There were no traditional sandwiches, but the savoury alternatives were a welcome change. The restaurant setting is very special with lots of history. Thank you Arlingtons for making our afternoon even more special. I will definitely be returning.

We have been to the restaurant before but today went to the cafe Park for light lunch. It was lovely. Nice ambience. The staff very friendly and helpful. The young lady...Nathmi....apologise in advance for spelling, was so helpful and accommodating. She made us feel like friends visiting not just customers.

Really enjoyed the small plate lunch. Love the ability to mix and match and the bonus of the free childs meal I had gorgonzola ravioli truffle fries and a bean salad. All lovely, the truffle fries were amazing :-)

Love this place. Amazing decor & ambience. Food is fabulous & staff friendly.

Wanted a quick bite to eat and managed to have wonderful food and a drink for less than £ 10 each. The tapas style small plates were marvellous. We had courgette flowers stuffed with goats cheese and a butternut squash ravioli. Whilst it was just one big ravioli, we felt that two would have been better value. Both of these dishes were delicious and looked wonderful. With a two for one offer on wine, we couldn't believe what good value it was.

Extensive menu with lots of choice but perfectly cooked and beautifally presented. Amazing building and stunning dinning room. Excellent place for a quick bite to eat or a lavish meal. Impressed my colleagues!

We had heard some excellent feedback from friends that have visited Arlingtons since it was bought by new owners, Peter and Irina Gwizdala in October 2018, so decided to pay a visit there ourselves.

Came here with my husband, thought we would try it out and wish we didn’t. We had to wait 45 minutes for our food to arrive and when it finally did my meal wasn’t cooked properly it was raw so we sent it back only to have to wait 20 minutes for them to bring me out a cooked meal which even when cooked properly it wasnt nice at all my husband didn’t enjoy his either. The extortionate prices they charge we thought the food would be delicious but I’ve had better meals at weatherspoons. When we complained the manager was very rude won’t be coming here again!

People keep asking me if I've tried every restuarant in Ipswich yet. No and I'm sure there are quite a few I won't bother with but this was another place I did want to add to the list. Looked interesting and is quite close to us, so gave it a go for our usual Saturday lunch foray. Quite an interesting space, with plenty of art to look at. They offer a variety of sized plates so you can enjoy a few different flavours. Enjoyed some noce freshly grilled sardines and interesting and rich venison meatballs (on as a special). Decent value and left well satisfied.

After a bit of a health scare, I was told by the doc to cut out fat and too much protein from my diet. So I was delighted to see so many vegan and veggie options on their small plates menu. I didn't realise veggie food could taste so good and the tapas style mean that I could have lots of different tastes. All told I had four plates (rice balls with pea and mint, mixed bean salad, brocolli and black garlic and another one that I've forgotten the name of but had beetroot in it.) plus an absolutely delicious desert. Everything was beautifully presented and a really good wine list which the doc didn't mention for me to keep off!! Good value too at about the same or a bit less than a normal 3 course meal. We'll definitely be back.

I was visiting Ipswich again on business and brought some clients for dinner. The menu has changed since my last visit and in my opinion for the better. We had a mix of a la carte and tapas style plates so there was a lot to choose from and it was cooked to perfection. For fine dining in a unique building this is very good value. I'll be definitely bringing more clients here as it is a great venue for business dinners. The dish to go for was the duck with a beetroot sorbet.

The venue is beautiful, however, the menu was very disappointing. Overall at £ 77 was pricey.
