Great fish and chips and a very reasonable price as well and well cooked and very tasty. Fish was cooked to perfection.

Consistently excellent, nice crispy gold batter. Tried many fish and chip shops over the years, this place comes top of the list, blows competition out of the water. Make no wonder it has been owned by the same family for decades, Sheila knows how to make proper traditional fish and chips, good stuff

By far one of the best fish and chips restaurants in Yorkshire. I live in California now but whenever I'm back in Batley to visit my parents I make sure I come in at least once. Do yourself a favour and go!

We called in here by chance as we are from Bradford and we were waiting for the wallpaper shop opposite to open.We have been back twice since as the fish and chips were really gorgeous and the lady Karen who served us was lovely. Excellent value for money too, we highly recommend this little gem!

fantastic fish-n-chips take out or eat in battered sausage and fish cakes and I mean proper fish cakes. pies and gravy curry sauce and try the Irish one the staff are great always a laugh and a smile but you have to keep going back for more

Went for tea for my family food was ok we have had Better locally and the portion size was absolutely terrible like kid size portions

i called in for a fish and decided to sit down and get out of the cold. I ordered the special as it was before 12 pm. I had fish, chips, bread , butter and a mug of coffee.it was good value. The staff were friendly and service was swift. Best of all the fish was tasty and made a great fish butty.

Very good,we eat in once a monthand always enjoy them -portions are generous sizes they also do a small eater for little appetites like mine,it gets very busy Friday /Saturday so be prepared to wait if eating in the cafe, one observation is the floor in the cafe area is often messy when children have eaten.well worth a visit.

The food from here as always been very very yummy. I came in today and the service was terrible. I was told to take a seat whilst i waited for my food to be made. I was then asked to move from where i was sitting as it would give "the customers the wrong impression" how extremely rude. Where else was i supposed to sit. I have ordered food and i am a paying customer. The rest of the staff were very friendly. I like coming here for the curry sauce but sorry I won't be coming back and will certainly not be recommending this place to people. Ignorant and rude member of staff. If you don't want to be nice don't work in a customer service role.

At last we have found a decent chippy. The fish was cooked just right & the chips were light & fluffy. You can either takeaway or eat inside.The lady behind the counter was polite & the place was clean. This is now our local chippy & we will be back.

My first time here. Fish was nice but smaller than other places I've been but also cheaper. Sorry to say the chips were just a soggy mesh. Won't be going back.

A traditional style fish and chip shop that serves superb quality food cooked in the original way, good portion sizes at a very reasonable price using excellent quality fish (and I'm very choosy about fish quality) all the usual variations of fish cakes, scallops etc plus other items including assorted pies, sausages etc, there is a small seating area with table service which can include tea, coffee and various soft drinks and special dinner time earlybird prices, overall really good quality and value and well worth a visit.

Great chippy, I call on my way home to collect my tea, never had a bad meal once. If none in pan will cook it fresh, even if its closing time. Great little place, very reasonably priced too.

Calidad de pescado y patatas fritas a un precio justo, tiene una pequeña zona de asientos (ish) para cualquiera que quiera una comida servida con té/café/pop junto con pan y mantequilla, bien vale la pena probar para pescado y patatas cocinadas tradicionalmente

This has been my favourite chippy for the last decade or so. The batter is nice, makes for nice bits, the portions I thought were ok, but there is just 1 thing. Just 2 words.Mother Hubbard's.It is rare I go here now, very rare, maybe once a year now. I have found a new favourite. Shame as this is closer to my house and the portions pale in comparison. Because of Mother Hubbard's, I can only rate Howie's as average now.

no matter what time of the day they never change I have tried other fish shops but I will go out of my way just to go there as I know I will eat and enjoy them.

Small fish and chip shop serving takeaway and also a small dining area, excellent quality and freshly fried top quality fish and chips, crispy batter and lovely white cod or haddock (ask for your preference!) and at a very reasonable price for takeaway or eat in, definitely worth a visit if you like good clean and honest food

At long last found a fish and chip shop with delicious fish and chips. They have a small cafe area so you can eat in. We ordered a special fish (which was very large), beautiful white fish, non greasy chips, plenty of bread and butter and lovely coffee. In fact this is the best fish and chip shop for miles around. Highly recommended.

Want a 'Battered pencil' [Fish] and greasy, limp chips...then you've come to the right place.JUST AWFUL .... EVEN YOUR CAT WOULD TURN IT'S NOSE UP AT THIS FISHAnd even the woman who owns this god-forsaken place, Sheila, isn't happy if she doesn't insult you with her mouth...as well as with the food.Even Batley's drunks [there are many hanging around drinking sherry] wouldn't be seen dead in here, the mucky fat taste in your mouth for hours afterwards would spoil the taste of their alcohol.
