Millbridge Fisheries Fish Chips in Kirklees

I just had chips n curry which was delish, but the fish etc all looked lovely.

Ordered from just eat, food arrived hot so no complaints there at all and the portion size for the price really isn’t that bad. Just over £13 for fish and chips with curry sauce delivered! I did find the batter a bit overcooked and the fish was a bit dry, chips were standard and what you’d expect. Honestly not bad at all, will probably order from here again.

Always good fish and great service here. Even when I’m probably the last customer of the day!

2 girls behind counter nice enough the guy doing the frying was rude didn't speak didn't say thank you was just a horrible person first time there put me off ever going again manners cost nothing

We have always used this fish shop for the last 24 years but after tonight it will be the last time the wife was served with warm ups it was disgusting. You just Lost a good customer

Food was lovely. Service wasn’t the best, two young girls that served us. But will still return to use as a takeaway.

Do not order from this fish shop through Just Eat. The do not deliver your food. And when you question it with the shop they say its been delivered. Clearly not. So you will have to apply for a refund or order again. I don't think so. You have ripped me off once. Not going to get the chance to do it again. Disgusting service from both parts.

We had lovley hot fish chips enough for 2 sharing plus tea and can coke for 9 40 ,was lovley.

Awful 7.20£ for this on an 18£ order with clap cold chips and a cold fish curry sauce has flys in their bear in mind one meal was for a 1 and 5 year old. Unacceptable for the price you would expect it to be decent. Or up there. If I hadn’t drove home it would be taken back. Stay clear should be closed down.

This is a very good local fish and chip shop. Fish and chips are always freshly cooked and they are never greasy.

Asked for sausage and chips with a breadcake. I suppose the writing was on the wall when I noticed a small tomato ketchup sauce sachets on the back shelf that were being sold for 40p each! 😬 The meal was extremely small (as in a kids' portion) and as dry as sand! All at a cost of £3.65... Steer well clear! I've uploaded a picture of the portion I was given. Feel free to count the chips because it won't take you long, as you could probably count them on one hand..

The short dark haired girl always has a face like thunder and the staff dont know how queues work. She was moaning about wanting to go home at half past whilst holding a queue of customers up by going at a snails pace. Ive never seen someone servea queue slower. And you could tell everyone waiting thoight the same. Little tip, you wanna finish work faster - do your work with some sense of urgency. Theyll serve people that arrived 5-10 minutes after you too.. and good luck if youre of a different ethnicity - you'll get barely any communication. Just weird unwelcoming glances. Noticed it a few times. The fryer who seems to be the owner seems like he doesnt ever care about the lack of service provided whatsoever. The food is decent though... .... if you can put up with LONG wait times and awful service.

One of the last surviving chippy's around Liversedge! And rightly so! Really good fish and fruits & fairly priced too! You can even get a battered spam fritter sarnie for next to nothing & they're delicious! Haha! Keep chippy's alive & visit Millbridge Fisheries when you get the chance! The staff & owner are all lovely people too 👍🍻

I had initially gone to the Golden Fish up the road but whilst in the queue overheard the server stating they only took card payment over £15 which is just ridiculous. So we walked out and came here. There was a fairly large queue but that just means it's good in my eyes. Prices and food were really good. The only loss of two stars was down to the lass serving who's face was like thunder. Not sure what she was mad about but she was definitely not happy. We all have bad days so it won't stop me coming back. Oh and the lad in front of my paid £1 on card so if your paying by card ect come here.

First time I’ve been passed many times and there’s always been a queue there was five in the queue all placed their orders I waited a good 10 minutes before mine was taken I think mainly down to taking online orders everything cooked to order the chips were cooked to perfection very sweet taste but wasn’t happy most of mine were cut small hardly any large chips the fish batter was golden and tasty but soggy in places the fish very meaty perfect has I live in Dewsbury probably wouldn’t come back unless in the area

Never been disappointed here. Although I can remember when you could buy a bag of chips for three old pence, couldn't afford fish! (are those times coming back? 🤔)

Would not recommend and when phoned to say I was not happy with the product I was told that we had not purchased from them and he was not nice on the phone

Asked for lightly battered upon entry. "2mins" I was told. 3 customers had entered, paid and left before my fish even went into the fryer! There was nothing wrong with the food but having me stood there for over 20 minutes is an absolute joke particularly when the shop is empty and he's frying up another 8 fish while I stand and wait for 1 lightly battered. IN AN EMPTY SHOP! Service - 1 terrible Atmosphere - 1 tense, frustrating Food - was going to be 5 but nobody should have to wait 20mins+ for a fish so they lost that rating too. In future Mr fryer man, don't be prejudicial towards your customers, I saw that eye you gave me before you put my fish in the oil. I did nothing wrong to you, your staff or your business, it was my first ever visit and all I wanted was something for lunch. I came in for food not a 'long stand' I'm observant and I pay attention to my surroundings. Maybe you will pay attention to this review and fix up your act Mr fryer man. I have no idea why he had something against me but it's absolutely disgusting behaviour for a business owner and I shall not be returning, shame, the food was actually decent but it's a principle matter for me, I'd rather throw a tenner in the drain than give any of it to this business.

I've been a few times now over the past weeks and this last time there were eleven people in front of me.I wasn't going anywhere else because I knew that the fish and chips would be straight out of the fryer and be red hot.When to I left there must have been another twelve queueing.Just goes to show how good the food is lovely white fish and nice chunky chips.Good value.Thanks.

Just ordered fish and chips from here, chips were cooked beautifully as was the fish. Batter wasn't soggy and was just the right amount. You could even choose if you wanted your fish lightly battered! Could tell the peas were proper peas and not just tinned too. Never find chippies like this anymore, will definately be ordering from here again!

Really nice fish and chips, cooked fresh but worth the wait. Prices are reasonable, no more expensive than any where else.

Good sized portions of fish and chips. When it's good it's very good. When it's not it's poor. The fish batter can be thick and heavy and limp and greasy. Sadly this has been more common lately. They have a very nice spicy Irish chip shop curry as well as the more common English one. Mushy peas are great too.

All items I have had from Millbridge have been hot and freshly cooked. Lots of choice. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble.

Was just passing , was hungry , so my friend and I popped in for a fish butty ... Beautifully Cooked Piece of Fish , Nice And Chunky too , and served in the Right bread cake ... Cheers guys 👍🏻

Second visit. First time chip butty, massive and perfectly cooked chippy chips. Second time fish and chips, lovely fresh fish and again perfect chippy chips. Prices are bang on and competitive. Cheers guys for 2 perfect on the hoof dinners.

Absolutely rubbish went at 19.45 the fish must have been in the warmer for hours. The fish was disciygrated and the batter was rock hard this should have been thrown away not sold

Really disappointed chips were cold and under cooked, tookvthen backbone waited 10mins for fresh batch . Staffs attitude cantthikk who they're cold and dudmt try them fish I think was put back in and double cooked assi crispy nearly broke a tooth and very dry

OUTSTANDING... As a professional musician I travel the country ( or at least I used to prior to the pandemic). I’m rather keen on gourmet food & a variety of cuisines. The complexity & beauty of Fish & Chips tends to be the very thing that lets it down... it’s a simple dish, but often prepared poorly or not to standard. Greasy, & often leaving one regretting they’d ever decided to have them. Though, as in the case of millbridge, it remains one of those outstanding experiences of travelling somewhere to buy, off the back of other very good reviews. I cannot do it justice enough; this was fish & chips of the highest quality; like an old school trip down memory Lane, recalling a fish shop from my youth in illingworth, Halifax. Crisp batter, gorgeous fish, perfectly cooked chips & peas with such a subtle flavour and sweetness that defy description..... this is now my new go to fish shop & if this standard is maintained, then I think it’s insurmountable.

Fantastic service friendly staff and the best fish and chips around, I actually drive From Huddersfield to go here value for money always fresh and hot no matter What time of day you go I would highly recommend all day long

One of the best chippies in the area and one I drive past others to get to. Sometimes a bit of an outside queue due to social-distancing rules at busy periods, but they quickly go down. Friendly staff and they take payment by card & phone.

One of the best I've ever been to. Fantastic crispy fish and chips as well they should be. I noticed a couple of negative reviews but you can please everyone. I've worked at some of the best hotels in the lakes as chef years ago and no a think or too abouts food. I go over from Halifax just for them when l can. Never been disappointed. Highly recommended Paul.

Great fish n chips day in car and ate really enjoyed

I went today and asked the person behind me in the queue to allow me some space, he was initially about 40-50cm from me, he gave me this space. When I was called into the shop I would have been stood about 50cm from another customer, so I said "I'm ok here thanks" and I gave my order from the door. The existing customer in the shop paid and left, I then went in and gave my money, collected my order and left. The man behind me in the queue entered and said "stupid woman, over reacting" and then I heard a woman laugh, it was women serving behind the counter, RUDE! When I got home I discovered I had a very small portion of chips, which was all I ordered, maybe this was deliberate as a reaction to me not wanting to enter the shop? The chips weren't cold but they also weren't hot; luke warm.

Due to the pandemic there was a bit of a queue which you can understand but that said, I was queueing for less than 10 minutes. This didn't matter to me at all, especially when I walked in and I was served with such a beautiful smile. Excellent service and the food was great. I'm sure the ladies name was Beth. Such a smiler and amazing at what she does. Thank you Millbridge Fisheries, I'll be back again x
