As usual we always make a beeline for this establishment when visiting the UK and our family in Redcar. Never disappointed! Cod always cooked to order ensuring a crisp batter. The cod was very moist and delicious, the chips, as usual, perfect. See you next year!

Sadly, this visit was not good with very little fish - not very white fish - in the heavy batter. The chips were hard and not many of good quality, and prices had increased to £9.

We popped into Redcar for a beach walk and lunchtime fish and chips. Can't fault this little takeaway, tucked behind the Esplanade. Second time we have been, and remembered it from 4 years ago. Still going strong as of 13 Sept 2022.

Very good fish and chips - lovely white fish with a light but tasty batter. Chips very nice, not soggy. Quick service, served up by two friendly and helpful staff. The fish & chip shop is very close to the sea front, so a great location. The price of the fish and chips is very reasonable, one of the best prices in Redcar.

Went here with my Lancashire friend. We were going to share a bag of chips with scraps. We ended up having a bag each as they were too delicious to pass. Lovely friendly staff. Just lovely. Not much else to add except, I will be back.

Absolute disgraceful I will never ever visit this store again after the experience I have had today. Went in for 2 chip buttys with gravy to take home. Woman had an absolute disgusting attitude slammed both open trays on the counter when I asked her for a bag she chucked it onto the counter and walked off didn’t wrap nothing up as apparently I’m capable of putting them in a bag myself and she refused to wrap them. As a small business owner myself this kind of service is absolutely disgusting. Take it she wanted an early finish and wasn’t happy about me coming in half hour before closing time. Never ever again and I’ll be making everyone on Facebook via my business pages aware also.

Absolutely superb fish and chips. Both chips and fish delicious. We normally visit here than queue at the sea front it’s hidden away but it’s a hidden gem please give it a go you will not be disappointed!

Used to use this chip shop a lot, service always lovely and great fish and chips or family deal which we sometime used to get. During lockdown they took down their special offers, which is understandable, but we seem to get a better portion size and good fish and chips elsewhere.

Called in on way home for fish and chips. Absolutley lovely. Fish was white and batter nice and crispy. And home made mushy peas, you cant beat them. Keep up the good work as hard to find 'proper' fish and chips now.

It's cash only, it's take away only and it serves some of the best fish and chips I can even remember having. Perfect flaky cod, the batter is cooked to perfection and the chips are fresh cut and delicious.I think far too many people making fish and chips take the details for granted, and while I don't believe for one second the guy running this realises that no-one else takes the care he does, the proof is in the results.Highly recommended!

Fantastic chippy. We were visiting Redcar and this was just around the corner from our hotel. Everything is made to order so is fresh and hot. We both got the cod and chips and took them onto the beach to eat. Absolutely delicious. Great guy who runs/owns the place. Chatty and friendly. A must if your in Redcar.

Been coming here for eight years on day trips and usually eaten the fish n chips from Fisherman's Square....today we were not disappointed. We've lived in Redcar for over 20 year's, it was only last week that I went and purchased the best Fish 'n' Chips ever. It certainly will be our first destination for future Fish 'n' Chips purchases

Opened today.Thoughyt i would g8ve the roast dinner a try.I choose the Beef Roast dinner and it was lovely.Well worth £6.50.They also do other traditional food and can be found on facebook.

We stayed in Redcar last year and found the fish and chip shop behind our hotel wow what a find its the best fish and chips I have had in a long time very good quality we are back next month so will be back can't wait.

The sausage and fish pattie were hot when we ate them at home but the chips were dreadful, they were cold and approximately half of the chips were inedible scrappy bits of potato. Won't be going again.

This chip shop is a little treasure and a wonderful find! All the fish is fried to order and the staff are brilliant! You can even walk round the corner and eat by the sea! Perfection!!!!

So many places are all bells and no whistle. A very well run local take away. The owners really care about people & its shows. Inexpensive for great quality. Hope they know people appreciate that they care about nice service and good quality.

we phoned up and ordered several portions of large fish and chips and some sausage and chips for our dinner on nightshift. When they were picked up and arrived back on site the batter was still nice and crunchy the chips were a nice golden colour and not swimming in fat. we all really enjoyed them and cannot wait to sample them again. I think this will become a regular thing.

I haven't had good fish and chips for ages. All the proper fish and chip places have either closed down or been taken over and dropped their standards. So hearing recommendations about this place I decided to make the journey and was pleased I did.

Staying around the corner I could smell the chips, so I thought I would try some. I had a small cod and chips, I had to wait for my fish as it is cooked to order, so this was piping hot, the chips were also hot, you get to put your own salt an vinegar on your chips and get offered scraps, yum. I also had a nice chat with a local chap who was waiting, a great little chippy.

When I visit my Mother each year, from the USA, this the go to place. Great fish and chips and the quality of the food is first class. Looking forward to next year!

Tried fish and chips all over the Uk. They do vary considerably,some are very fatty and the batter too excessive ,some small fish all batter. However I have found at the fisherman square fish and chip shop a very good compromise. The fish are always a good size and the batter crisp and well covered.Not too excessive or greasy . The chips fat and a good portion . Parking is ok outside so if you are in the vicinity give them a go. Well worth the visit.

After a nice walk along the beach went to Fisherman’s Square for cod and chips. Cooked to order so very fresh and very tasty batter. Chips were also very good and nice big portions!

It took over 20 minutes to get fish and chips. They seem to cook each order separately and had nothing ready to go like other fish and chip shops usually have. This was also lunchtime so you would have thought some things would be ready.

Every time I've visited the fish has been freshly fried. The meals I have had from this fish and chip shop have always been very tasty. On my last visit I took my grandson and his verdict was to tell his father that every time they wanted fish and chips they had to go to Fisherman's Square. From a discerning 10 year old that is praise indeed!!

I read several TA reviews prior to visit we walked on the nearby beach then tasty fish and chips at the end of our walk all fish are cooked to order the owner a former chef his batter was light crisp and tasty the chips well cooked one large haddock one small haddock and chips £8.90 great value

Followed the recommendation of over T-advisor reviewers and was not disappointed. Tasy fish - not weak and watery, crisp batter and nice crisp chips ('fries' for the benefit of US readers!). Excellent value for money. I'll be back!

My wife and I visit here most weeks, our fish age cooked to order so you know they are nice and fresh and hot. The chips are to me the best in the area. Mark who runs it is a great bloke from Sunderland, I always have a good natter with him. If in the area, call and have a treat, the cod bites are lovely.

We can only endorse the opinions of others - freshly cooked, 2 portions for £7, delicious meal stop on our journey home and well worth the detour from A19.

This is a small chip shop in Fisherman Square in Redcar, very near the High Street/sea front. Serves great fish and chips, and also smaller portions on offer such at 2 x small cod/haddock and chips or 2 x fish bites and chips for about £7 or so for the 2. Well worth a visit and cheaper than the sea front chippys too.

Having used several fish shops around Redcar I can honestly say this is the top. I phoned to pre order and when I arrived they were ready piping hot. This is the second time I've been and I won't go anywhere else from now on

We found this place by accident but I'd been craving my comfort food as I'm a Brit living on foreign shores. Very friendly service who let us sit on the bench inside the shop to eat the best fish and chips I've had in years. After suggesting adding mushy peas we settled in to a pretty enormous meal!! Washed down by a strong cup of tea this was pretty much perfection. Chatting with the locals and simply watching the world go by .... a really great find. Please visit and then walk off the calories with a saunter along the sea front; this is English countryside at its wildest and most hauntingly beautiful.

As an expat living in the USA I always eat fish and chips when I visit. This fish shop was one of the best. Fish cooked to order, crispy batter and well cooked cod. Great chips making a glorious meal. I will be back.

My other half found this place purely by accident when wandering about. Really good food which is freshly cooked on demand. The trades come in here a lot and they're not that easy to please so it has to be both good value and quality.

My last visit to this chippy was a few years ago and I didn't have great expectations for this visit. How wrong I was. We had a big order for a quick family supper. Everything was cooked freshly inc. chips, fish , sausages etc. We also had tubs of mushy peas and curry sauce. We all really enjoyed it all. We will be back soon.

This chippy is not the oldest established chippie in Redcar but in my opinion does give the best fish n chips and gives good value for money.

Second time in recent weeks we have visited Fishermans Square. We had cod and chips on both occasions and have been very good. At the latest visit the fish would have benefited from being drained a little longer as the paper was very greasy. Next time will simply request this. Will certainly be calling again.

We've used Fisherman's Square on and off for many years with great satisfaction. Just been today (Good Friday) and asked for haddock. Told they had only giant haddock which turned out to be miniscule for the price paid. Fish portions were thin and the batter sludgy, not crispy as you'd expect. Small portion of chips. Sorry but can not recommend. Fairest thing I can say is very disappointed

The customer service is always above and beyond to make the visit as quick and pleasant as possible , would recommend this to anyone !! Absolutely worth every penny if you want fish and chips. I am a genuine reviewer living not more than 1/4 mile from this establishment. It used to be the best in redcar serving good wholesome fish portions & really crispy batter. Since it has changed hands the fish is not that pre-prepared pieces that look big but the fish has been sliced so thin that none of it is over 1/4 inch thick. I like natural fillets, that are as we all know thick & 'meaty at one end thinning to the tail at the other. Our family eats fish & chips once a week & we have given this place 6 tries & like their filets, our patience is running thin & we intend to go elsewhere. The new owners by theis accents seem to be from north of the Tees & it appears the majority or their reviews are not from locals like myself but from people from that area. My advice if you want fish & chips in Redcar try somewhere else, there is plenty of choice

Not from the area but visited with my fiancé and called in after a walk along the sea front, and really pleased we did. Good welcome by the friendly staff and even though it was quite busy we were served quickly. We both got large cod and chips and thoroughly enjoyed them! Wasn't expensive as fish usually is and it tasted great, would definitely recommend or go again if we return to Redcar.

Just been here with my boyfriend. He had a fish patty and I had fish & chips. Batter was really crispy and the chips really fluffy would definately recommend. Staff very friendly and efficient with service.

The wrappers on all meals were drenched in oil. When they were opened the chips were so oily the look like they were still in fryer! Nothing was salvageable and to top it all I had raved how nice the food was after ordering regularly when I lived in the area a few month ago.

Fish is cooked to order. Portion are large so a large cod means a whale. Friendly staff who will take telephone orders. Our first choice chippy in Redcar.

This is a very nice fish and fish shop that sells top notch food (but not the best in the area), the fish is lovely and white cooked perfectly with a nice batter the chips are light and fluffy. You do get a good portion and pay what is the norm in this area so not to expensive. The food is always served quickly and very hot, nice friendly staff.

Great fish and chips, every time we have been they have been spot on with the added bonus of then going to the sea front and eating them. The older lady serving was excellent, quick, efficient and very cheery.

Just had an amazing supper.I had haddock and chips the wife had the cod.lovely to find a traditional fish and chip shop doing it right.the peas were unbelievable really made the meal and the chips top draw they must use beef dripping to fry with fantastic quality for the price and very good size portions.cant wait til I'm hungry again

I asked my husband to go and get me fish and chips last week and he decided he was going to share it with me so he got a large cod it was massive and truly delicious as where the chipsThey are also doing deals now which is really good for people who cannot eat a full portion to themselves

I must say for a very small chip shop this is by far the best fish and chips ive ever tasted cooked to order which id rather wait 5 mins so uou know uour getting them fresh huge portions. With now longer open hours and i believe new staff which are very good very friendly like to have a crack on whilst you wait but still do a good job at the same time the fish is superb infact all of the food is superb ill never go any where else now
