Fish and Chips in Isle of Wight

Ordered from here and the plaice was watery and tasteless! I give genuine reviews so please take this as gospel! lol haven’t tried the haddock or the cod but the plaice was frozen for years it seemed 🤢 totally inedible! I literally hay water on my hand when I picked up what expected to be blades of fish but it was mush 😥

The chips and sausage were absolutely amazing! Definitely going again, it's all you could ever want in a chippy

He was so friendly and nice to us , i said if u can fry fish separate for me as I don’t want it to be cooked in same oil were all things are cooking together. He said i will do Millions thanks

We had great take out, the gluten free options are great enabled us all eat together. Food was fresh cooked, excellent.

Did the job I was full but saveloy tasted like plain boiled rice the batter on me sausage was soggy and the sausage was greasy. A member of staff had dirt underneath his fingernails which is just grim considering I just ate the meal he cooked. Horrible stay well clear If I were you.

Waited for ages for someone to come to the counter and no gluten free food available 😕

Staff were rude, £4 for a large portion of chips and your lucky if you get two potatoes. Chips tasted as if they had been cooked in old oil. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be going back

Total grumps. Zero pleasantries. Zero communication. Snapped at and barked at with no please or thankyou. Avoid if u are in a good mood.

I went here for the ice cream, and the lady serving me and my partner was absolutely amazing! She was patient and kind, recommended me an amazing flavour and gave very generous portions! 100% reccomend!!

Quick and fresh and took care in making sure my order was gluten free, however I ordered a large chips and it came on a very small tray- not enough for a full meal, not great value for money

Food cooked to order so expect a small wait , fish was good fresh proper batter, mushy peas good consistency, chips were only let down didn't taste fresh or cooked to order.

OMG the battered cod was disgusting, I have had worse, but this was bad, the batter was greasy and had no flavour, the cod was okay but nothing great, the best place I put this fish was in the bin, as my dog wouldn't even eat it, and he eats anything that's saying something.

Arrogant older man staff member. Thinks you are stupid and tries to patronise you when you try to help him understand your comment. They state they cook vegetarian items separately but cook gluten free pork sausages in same fryer. So either they have a separate gluten free fryer but also cook vegetarian products there (celiacs beware) or they have a vegetarian fryer but also cook gluten free chicken in there (vegetarians beware). They should be shut down.

Aug 2022. Chips were really nice. Other reviews here say theirs were dry and crunchy. Ours were cooked fresh, perhaps theirs had been hanging around. A sign on the wall says food is cooked to order though. Small chips for £1.95 was fine and filled a hole nicely. 5 rating on Food Standards. Go for it.

Insult to fish and chips , warmed up chips ( there wasn't many either which was a good job ) Fish not much better and very expensive for what's on offer , staff moaning they were to busy as they took one online order , don't bother get a subway instead

Ordered a large chips for £3.95 and it came in a small tray. Very poor value for money. Chips were dry and crunchy, binned 3/4 of them . Wished i had taken them back and asked to make a fresh lot, but we,'d planned to eat them by the duck pond and couldnt be bothered to drive back. Obivously wont be calling here from next years fest. Wish I'd read the reviews first.

Ordered a medium chips for £2.95 and it was the smallest portion of chips I've ever seen! Served on a small tray. Terrible value for money and my gut instinct told me to not pay it. Sadly I did and its now become a bit of a joke between my wife & me. Chips were dry and crunchy. Cost cutting gone too far. Will need to compare with others on the island to see if this is common practise. Certainly won't be caught out again though moving forward.

Delicious, fresh fish and chips made to order. Quick service. Plenty of benches across the road to sit and eat.

My kids are Gluten allergic, popped in here and the owner couldn’t have been more helpful. He cooked the fish especially in a Gluten free fryer with the chips. He used fresh utensils to prevent cross contamination. Would recommend 👍👍

Was walking past this little Fish and Chip shop squashed between two other establishments and immediately had to stop when I saw a sign that said 'Crab and Chips' on the window. It was absolutely delicious and made fresh to order. Amazing value for £6.50 as well. They also sell ice cream.
