Buenos vinos, agua disponible, pollo bien cocinados.

I never enter smaller restaurants with high expectations, but this would of exceeded that. The menu wasn't too big but that is understandable with the atmosphere and the theme of the place, it was warming to say the least. I have been to Africa, Portugal and South America and seen and tasted food there which shares similarities to this. I think of it as posh street food/cocktail bar near the beach, a nice cosy and organised sunny menu backed by great drinks and wine. Its definitely a place I would go again, just to try each marinate for the chicken and wine recommendations!

The most delicious piri piri chicken ( with the dynamite sauce on the side) I have ever eaten and the best garlic prawns since I ate them on a beach in Ibiza. Great service and a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a fun night out with particularly good food. The staff were fantastic, very efficient but also fun and easy going with our pretty raucous crowd. Chicken was delicious, cocktails were superb, couldn't recommend more highly. Go check it out!

I was recommended Fire and Feathers by a chef friend of mine and i can honestly say i now only need to miss the weather from home! We had a take away last Saturday as were undecided on the local Lebanese or sushi - but decided to try this place as heard it was like a smart nandos. We had garlic baby chicken (they are tiny! - how many weeks old!? - where is chicken taste?!) medium peri peri chicken, chorizo, minty peas and chips. Chips were best bit!! V good - but rest was a bit dismal and freezing! And we live literally round the corner. We had to reheat everything bar the chips as it was cold. The Peas were ok, nothing special - garden peas smashed with mint leaves, the chicken was pretty tasteless - contains very sharp bones so don't pop a piece (comes cut up) into mouth as it hurts! You have to pick at it - deep fried so very oily - the wings were unedible as they were so small they had burnt to a crisp and was also very hard to distinguish between garlic & lemon and med peri peri - med spice is v mild!!! - the chorizo altho tasty (but how hard is it to fry chorizo?) was swimming in oil - I mean a cup full - it was even bagged and cling film wrapped - I know chorizo is fatty but jeez - & because it had cooled it had gone lardy :( All in all an expensive take out which is a real shame as if they tweaked it a bit they'd be onto a winner. We eat out a lot - no point cooking in Chelsea when such good restaurants and take outs - I love chicken so hope they have changed when I'm feeling daring enough for another try. But this time I will ask for spicier!

Went here recently with my wife and a couple of mates and had an such a fun evening. The decor is amazing with a really cool little bar at the front which I happily propped up while waiting for everyone else to arrive. Gave me chance to inspect the cocktail list too which served us nicely later. When they did arrive we got our own booth and settled in with some mojitos (classic and berry) to start. These were awesome and we stayed on these all evening (I actually opted for sagres but the others did - I happily tasted them as they came in though). Then the food started! The menu is nice and concise and is all the best bits of a Portuguese holiday. We even had the little tubs of sardine pate to open up the appetite exactly like the ones you get in portugal. I then had the garlic prawns which were fantastic and then a whole poussin in piri-piri with chips and slaw. I can't tell you how happy I was with it. The marinade is the best I have had as are the chips. A fork with those two and their coleslaw is the perfect mouthful. A couple of custard tarts for dessert and a few more cocktails and it was the perfect evening. We will definitely be back to taste the rest of the menu though it will be hard to not have the chicken again. The added bonus was it felt like being on holiday as we were welcome to stay far longer than just the meal. It was such a nice change to not feel rushed to move but be able to enjoy your meal and then stay for a few drinks after. Can't recommend enough.

I've been to Fire and Feathers 4 times now. It was recommended to me by a friend and my god it's a great find. The moment you walk through the doors, you're faced with it's ultra slick decor and cool lighting. They've got a bar that does hands down the best cocktails in Chelsea. Then it's down to business. I literally can't get enough of the chorizo and prawn starters, both always cooked to absolute perfection. My girlfriend who came with me last time said they were the best prawns she'd ever had. And she's a chef. And then on to the main event. I lean towards the 'dynamite chicken', and I warn you it's not for the faint hearted! It's incredibly well seasoned, incredibly succulent and each mouthful delivers a veritable Portugese upper cut to the chops. For those less brave souls, the piri piri chicken is equally as delicious. The chips and tomato salad are the perfect accompaniment. There is unequivocally no better chicken in Chelsea. It's ideal for a night out with friends, date night, hell I'd even go there on my own. Every time I've gone with friends, it's offered the perfect setting for a brilliantly fun night out......great environment, delicious food and insanely good chicken, all at a reasonable price. I had heard from friends that the cocktails were amazing, so the last time I went I tried a range - all of them lived up to the raving reviews, but my favourite was the lychee martini (strongly recommend). For starters we had really tasty garlic prawns, which were big and scrumptious. I then had the piri piri chicken for mains. This was one of the best marinades I've ever tasted and the chicken was really tender - it tasted delicious. Compared to other restaurants in the area, the food, service and value are all outstanding. I'm super happy to have found this gem of a restaurant - I will definitely be going back.

A recent eveving out at Fire and Feathers was my first foray into Portuguese cuisine...and I'm a convert! There's a small bar area where you can have a cocktail or two before heading to your table, so of course we did that. I can thoroughly recommend the espresso martini, seriously good stuff! We then settled into our booth for the main event. The menu is refreshingly fuss-free and concise and being a larger party we ordered a good portion of it to share. I don't eat red meat so am usually limited to a few options so was really pleased that there was hardly a dish I couldn't sample. (One of our party was gluten free and was equally impressed to see gluten free bread on the menu.)Notable highlights from our starter selection were the garlic prawns (just yum!), calamari and a delicious dish of garlicky carrots that I made sure stayed near me.The chicken for our main course was served cut into pieces and on the bone which made for juicy and succulent meat. I loved both the Piri Piri and the mild options - full of flavour, wasn't quite brave enough to try the super hot one (spice wimp), but it certainly disappeared pretty quickly. The chips and selection of salads we ordered were the perfect accompaniment. We washed everything down with a lovely rose which was very reasonable at around £17 ish a bottle, and finished up with another of the gorgeous cocktails. The staff were great, friendly and relaxed without compromising on speed or efficiency. Our table was looked after brilliantly well and the fun, laid-back atmosphere was the perfect foil for our party.I loved this place - as did our entire party - and am already looking forward to going back.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

There is always room for a new taste sensation along the Chelsea Beach: not another Italian is potentially a good thing. So with taste buds primed we headed for this Portuguese newbie. The first thing to note is the very small menu…chicken or bavette steak or sea bass fillets. And no sardines !!!!! And when it states chicken it means poussin, so when we went in and decided we would share a whole chicken between us we were told that er, no, it’s a poussin, and it’s not really for sharing. Fine, so why not put Baby Chicken or Poussin on the menu? It would save a lot of time with unnecessary explanations. The next disappointment came when all the food we ordered arrived lukewarm. Mains and vegetables seemed to have been standing around in the upstairs kitchen for a while. The “mild” Piri Piri sauce had vague flavours of lemon and garlic but to be honest it mostly tasted of nothing, something very difficult to achieve if you actually have lemons and garlic to hand in the kitchen. To make matters worse the poussins were cut up into pieces, and not just jointed, which would have been fine, but hacked through the bone with shears, so that when you put a piece in your mouth, jagged edges of bone would scratch your mouth and lips. (Health and Safety take note). The minted peas were Ok, but the chips were from frozen packets and were pretty awful. With such a paucity of choice, you would think they would go the extra 20 yards and make the potato dish their own. Even with a small kitchen, coming up with a potato dish (be it fries, mash or roasted baby potatoes) that fits the Portuguese theme would be child’s play. Apparently not.New restaurants (especially if opened by first time owners) have a difficult enough task creating a market share in a busy, trendy area like Chelsea. Doing local research and listening to advice is paramount. If the owner takes a few steps to his left he will find a wonderful (and packed) Vietnamese restaurant whose signature dish, a spicy roasted poussin knocks spots off his own. To his right on the corner is a very popular gastro pub where we recently had a brilliant herby poussin, served with great home- made chunky chips and salad. One trick ponies like Fire and Feathers have to sure that they have a niche sewn up, otherwise it’s a dispiriting future of hanging around on the threshold of your own place and watching prospective punters walk past to local favourites. It is sad to see new places get it so wrong, and Fire and Feathers may just decide to concentrate on the cocktail bar side of things instead of serving such poor food fare, but hopefully they will listen to some local feedback and up their game.

My friends and I popped into Fire and Feathers for lunch having been tempted by their 50% off lunch deal. The service was friendly and efficient (although considering we were the only people in there for most of the time, you would hope so!). I chose the piri piri chicken sandwich which was delicious! My friends chose the halloumi and vegetable salad, which although only £2 cheaper, seemed somewhat meagre in size! It was essentially a few roasted veg and about 4 slices of halloumi, meaning my friends ended up eating a lot of my chips and half my sandwich because they were still hungry!Pricing seemed a bit hit and miss at Fire and Feathers - for example, my main (which was very generous in terms of portion size and good quality) was a very reasonable £10, yet a latte was £3.50, a price which makes even Gail's next door seem cheap!Furthermore, when we got the bill, they did a weird calculation for the 50% off where they excluded tax first (meaning it was only about 35-40% off). I've not seen that before (normally half price has meant half price!) and it seemed a bit strange. At the end of the meal, our group was a bit split down the middle. I felt that I had got a great value lunch but my budget conscious friends felt a bit hard done by, having paid in the end (after the weird tax calculation for the discount) around £10 for a soft drink and a small salad and leaving still feeling rather hungry!

Fire and Feathers brings the best of Portuguese cuisine to the Fulham Road - in particular the succulent chicken marinated in the world famous Piri Piri sauce. A straightforward formula delivered very effectively and in some cases with a punch - for those a little more adventurous, the dynamite variation on the chicken lives up to the billing. There's a brilliant cocktail list to boot, and if you thought the dynamite chicken was up there on the scoville scale then wrap your chops around the Xilli Spice tequila which will leave you questioning your own take on pleasure or pain.I'd recommend it to all comers. Whether you are heading out for a night out on the town, want a fun filled, relaxed evening with friends and family, or you just want your fix of comfort food then this is the place for you.

I was in Fire and Feathers last night for the 4th time in as many weeks and decided the time had come to share it with the world. I had heard about the restaurant through a friend who said that the guy who owns it had spent some time in Portugal and was so impressed with the way they cooked their chicken over there that he thought he would replicate the idea in London, and Fire and Feathers was born. Now this is a chicken restaurant so the menu is predominantly chicken (there is plenty to choose from if you don't fancy it) but this is a far cry from what you usually have. They are actually poussin, smaller and much tastier and juicier, and come with a choice of 3 equally delicious sauces, I recommend the Piri Piri. There is a generous offering of side dishes and whatever you do, don’t miss the garlic prawns for starters. There are some great wines on offer and the cocktail list is in a league above anything else along that stretch of the Fulham Road. Helpful and friendly staff and a warm, rustic and traditional fit out mean that this place is going to be a regular fixture for me this winter as long as I can get a table. I have a feeling this is going to be a popular place!

I came here after a work meeting with a client, we were looking for something fresh and simple. The menu here doesn't give many options - 4 or 5 starters and a similar amount of mains. We had the garlic prawns to start and they were really good; freshly cooked, nicely spiced and with a generous portion of bread alongside. The main was a Piri-Piri chicken, far nicer than that offered by the famous chain restaurant I could mention, very fresh and nice portion size.As I said I went early so the place was quite empty, but it's nicely laid out and I imagine later on has a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and very willing to help.

Went here for a friend's birthday a few weeks back and was seriously impressed by this little gem of a restaurant. The restaurant has a very cool vibe and the cocktails are delicious and reasonably priced. The star of the show though is the food, garlic prawns were succulent and perfectly cooked, chorizo was top quality and was only topped by the piri piri chicken which is off the scale!I will be back very soon.

This restaurant is good value at lunchtime (half price for food) but is a one-horse race as it has a very limited menu mainly of chicken piri-piri. It is quite basic inside, rustic would be the phrase, and it was not immediately obvious to me that it is Portugese until I saw the excellent draught Sagres available. The place had only 3 tables being served and therefore the food delivery was prompt. I started with calamaris which were attractively presented although quite ordinary being cooked in batter. The chicken piri-piri was very good indeed with crispy marinated skin and plenty of it. It was far better than any I had eaten in Portugal. Unfortunately the chips were considerably over salted and did not appear to be cut "in house" but they were certainly very desirable. Sweet was Portugese custard tart and ice-cream. I enjoy custard tarts and this one was fine but without being anything special. Overall a good place for lunch and this cost £20 with a pint of Sagres but excluding service. I think this would be a fun place in the evening with friends but the same menu would cost approximately £31 which is quite expensive for a main course that has shades of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

A friend of mine recommended Fire and Feathers so my husband and I decided to try it out. I’m so glad we did because since then we’ve gone back several times together as well as with friends as it is HANDS DOWN… the BEST chicken you can get in London! It is so juicy and just like the Portuguese style chicken you can get in the Algarve but never anywhere in London, until now! Each time we go back we choose a different cocktail from their list to wash it down. Absolutely delicious. I like my food extra spicy and my husband prefers his mild and Fire and Feathers caters perfectly for both extremes. Their chips are extra crispy too…. I couldn’t give this place enough praise.

We went there completely by chance because of a lunch deal they offered us on the street and we had a great time! The place is well decorated, the staff is friendly and the piri piri chicken sandwiches we had were excellent. A new(ish) place but one we shall definitely return to.

I went there for the 3rd time on Friday night and on every occasion I have been thoroughly impressed. The food, especially the chicken, is absolutely superb washed down with very decent and good priced wine and the odd cocktail shots. The owner Harry is immensely charming and polite and greets everyone on entry and is always on hand. Really nice, friendly, vibrant atmosphere. I will without question go back and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.

Love this place. Went there for third time today. Really authetic Portugese experience - from the chicken to the drinks (from piri-bloody mary to thick rimmed beer glasses and port). As much of a success with my 8 and 10 years old nephew and niece for lunch as with a bunch of mates in the evening when it really comes in to its own. Only complaint was from my nephew: "It's just as good as Nandos but you can't get unlimited fizzy drinks".

We love F+F! I've had smoochy dinners there with my husband (no better place than out front on a warm night!) and some long evenings in the booths at the back. The owner, Harry, pulled out all the stops when I hired their gorgeous private upstairs room for a surprise birthday party, and there certainly aren't many places you can get 16 people around one table in West London. The Dynamite Chicken is amazing and the prawns top-notch. Decor very cool and staff couldn't be more helpful. Long live F+F!

Had a good dinner at F&F with some friends last week. After a couple of drinks on the Fulham Road we decided to give this place a go. We got one of the booth style tables and had a good time there. The staff were friendly, good choice of drinks and the food tasty. The dynamite chicken was pretty hot, but a good choice. The bar was fun for a couple of drinks afterwards. Well worth a visit.

My wife and I came across town after a recommendation and it was so worth it (not always the case - especially when paying babysitters). This restau, which I think is pretty new, is trendy, yet cozy and unassuming with reclaimed wood and tiles. We started with cocktails. The Praia de Luz - which I think is of their invention - is stunning and dangerously addictive. To start we had their cooked chorizo and the garlic prawns, which were both zingy and perfectly cooked. Then came the signature chicken. The formula is simple (a relief for this reviewer) - a poussin (small chicken) with a choice of three sauces. The small birds have lots of bones, which might put some off, but the upside is how moist and tender the chicken is. That combined with the flavours of the marinades made me realise what real piri piri should be. The dynamite was lip stinging but I think the piri piri, which is complex and delicious, is what I will go for next time. Chips were good without being spectacular and african red rice was perfect with the chicken. Didn't do desserts so will report next time. Not sure if they have put anything addictive in the chicken, but have thought about it twice today. Love discovering a new place with great food and atmosphere - we will definitely be coming back...

I have been to Fire and Feathers a few times and last night was my 4th time. It definitely didn't disappoint. Love the design of the restaurant, a cool, stylish take on an authentic Portuguese restaurant. The menu is great in that doesn't overload you with too many choices, just offers really yummy chicken dishes and some great, authentic sides. The atmosphere is always fun and lively, and the cocktails are amazing. I will be back!

Fire and Feathers were advertising food at half price for lunch which seemed a bargain in this usually premium-priced Fulham Road, called 'The Beach' because of rich pickings for restauranteurs. It has a small hut-like interior with no more than a dozen or so tables, the chair behind one nearby still displaying a bottle of cleaning fluid left from earlier. There's a small menu featuring starters such as garlic prawns and chorizo. For the dubious pleasure of having something called gluten (some imaginary Martian dietary fad, no doubt) removed one has to pay a little extra for bread. The mains are predominantly fried chicken with piri piri sauce plus bavette steak and sea bass. The garlic prawns we shared as a starter were spicy and delicious; everything else including a chicken wrap and a bavette steak, but particularly the packet chips, was a bit basic. Overall it feels like a sort of up-market Nandos. Would not have felt good value at full price.

Just been to Fire & Feathers in the Fulham Road and was bowled over. Great food — we had the grilled prawns to start and chicken piri piri for our main course with a wonderful bottle of house white. Food was excellent, service was brisk and very helpful, and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. It was also very good value, with the meal for two of us ( which included two carafes of wine) £55. Owner Harry Deighton very welcoming. Watch out Nandos, this is Portugese food at its best.

We’d visited P Howard’s former restaurant, The Square, and as soon as we realised he’s the owner of this restaurant, we made a booking, given the extraordinary meals we had at The Square in the past.
