Popped in on our coastal travels for Sunday lunch. Amazing food & ambience. We could tell it was popular as car park was full. Lots of very happy customers. Dog friendly. Good selection of wine & beer. Nothing posh here but homely, very clean, happy staff & lovely clean toilets with a view of the estuary!!! You don’t get that often.

We had heard about this lovely pub/restaurant from other friends recommendations and decided to visit it. We were most certainly not disappointed! I lovely welcome as soon as we arrived, a quaint and cosy area to sit, it has two areas a pub side and a restaurant side, we sat on the pub side because we had some dogs with us and quickly served our drinks. Extremely accommodating, welcoming staff truly service with a smile! We ordered for Sunday roasts one was beef, one was pork and two were three meat roasts with all of the trimmings, including Yorkshire pudding, and wow, what incredible food it was. Every slice of meat was cooked to perfection, and such a variety of vegetables on the plate which all so tasty and cooked to the best of standards. One of our party needed vegetable gravy due to not being able to have pork meat in it and this was accommodated for, another guest needed their meat cooked extremely well done and although at first it arrived cooked medium rare the staff soon rectified this and bought back the meat cooked exactly our guest liked it. Then we were onto desserts, such a great choice of desserts we were spoilt on what to order, however we went for, the Pavlova and fruit crumble with custard and both of these dishes were so tasty and so well presented! Living in Cornwall we eat in many different restaurants, and I can honestly say this is the best that we have found for a Sunday lunch. Cannot and will not hesitate to recommend this to anybodywe know , or anybody that breeds the reviews book up you will not be disappointed ! Thank you so much for a wonderful visit , and for being so accommodating to our needs you are truly the gem of a dining experience in cornwall

This is an amazing pub. I booked in advance for eight of us to eat but we kept coming back because the menu and specials board were … so special. Combined with the fabulous hospitality and warmness we felt really welcomed during our week’s stay in Portwrinkle. I am quite a fussy eater as a vegetarian, but would definitely recommend this one!

Ours was a late booking for the restaurant; nevertheless, busy as they were, they managed to squeeze us in! The bar was very welcoming. And it was dog friendly. The ambience of the restaurant was unpretentious yet enhanced by the lit candles. The food was excellent - especially the pan-seared scallops. The service too was excellent, and could not be faulted. The staff - without exception - made us welcome and took good care of us.

The restaurant was fully booked, which is a good sign so we had our meal in the bar. It was a little noisier but some would say atmospheric. The service and food were excellent. I had the crab cocktail and lamb shank. All being well presented and delicious. A great place for a celebration meal.

A fantastic pub full of Cornish history. The food was some of the best we have ever had, varying from excellent burgers, generous portions of fish and an amazing pork tomahawk. Food is freshly prepared and locally sourced. Staff were incredible especially our waitress Becca. Couldn't recommend any higher.

We visited for a birthday lunch. We both had roast, which was piping hot. The meat could have been cooked a bit more , but that is down to personal opinion. It would have been nice to have been offered sauces rather than having to ask. We had beef and lamb. The puddings were very nice as well. We will visit again, but will probably not bother with the roast.

We decided to branch away from our usual places & try the Finnygook. My goodness. We were not disappointed. From start to finish the whole experience was fantastic. Service was great, very friendly & helpful staff. The food blew us away with all of us enjoying it. What was supposed to be an eat & go turned into all afternoon which was lovely as some places have set timings for a table. I think we may have found a new favourite spot.

Popped in after taking the dogs to the beach. I had a burger and a friend had fish & chips. The food was lovely especially the burger and even though I don’t eat pickles the little ones on top of the burger were so cute! The staff were friendly and if I hadn’t inhaled my burger I would have liked to try the dessert menu, but that will be for my next visit. Would definitely recommend.

We visited this pub based on the good reviews received. The roast beef was not particularly tender and the plate was swamped in gravy, which made it difficult to navigate through the meal! Perhaps consider serving the gravy in a jug. There was however, a good selection of vegetables which were nicely cooked although the roast potatoes could have been crispier. The staff were friendly.

What a lovely homely place, it has such a lovely atmosphere, especially in the bar area and the food was delicious (the rice pudding was heavenly). The only minor negative was that it took a few attempts to get through to book, but it was worth persevering and we will definitely return.

I was genuinely taken a back. From the moment we stepped through the door, to when we left, it was an amazing experience. The friendliness of the staff, the service levels, the genuine pride and care, was right up there with anything I have experienced. This was all delivered in the Cornish casual manner, not formal, just perfect. The food was superb, and we all complimented the chef, who we found out with actually the landlord. At the end of the night we asked to see the manager, and the landlord and landlady came out. After chatting with them, it wasn't hard to see where the service came from, the culture flowed down in buckets. Couldn't recommend this place highly enought

Visited a couple of times with my humans and met some really interesting dogs. There was a bed I could use and toys so very good. Apparently the service was very friendly and helpful and the food excellent (I managed to get some of the fish pie and the burger) . Great view from the ladies so I’m told but I prefer a walk around the village for my ablutions. There was a grumpy King Charles spaniel on one visit but he was only there a bit, the pub dog is a good character and very friendly even though I scent marked some of his stuff. Overall well worth a trip here

On our first night in Cornwall, my wife & I chose to try Finnygook Inn from a dining list in our holiday apartment at Seaton Beach. After parking in the last spot available across the road, we checked at the bar to see if we could be seated for an early-ish Saturday dinner. That's when we learned they didn't start evening food service until 6 PM, and they were booked for tables in the restaurant until 6:30. So we ordered beverages, sat at a high table in the bar, and watched the locals & their dogs socialise (including the resident pooch) until we were seated for dinner. Service in the bar & the restaurant was friendly. The dining area was well lit by large windows, with space between the tables to reduce the feeling of crowding under the low ceilings. It took 25-30 minutes to receive our meals after ordering (understandable based on the size of the Saturday night crowd), but they were hot & fresh when they arrived. My wife enjoyed her pan-seared local king scallops dish from the Small Plates menu, and my beer battered haddock entrée with chips & "real mushy peas" [I didn't realise there were counterfeit mushy peas :- ] was very satisfying. Both meals were well presented & had generous portions. Overall Finnygook was a solid choice for our first Cornish meal, and we would recommend it to visitors looking for a cosy pub and/or a local restaurant with a good variety of flavorful food to choose from.

We stayed in one of their superior rooms, which was extremely comfortable, with a wonderful view down across the valley and over to Dartmoor, which was sensational! The room was large with an en-suite, very little noise from other people staying. We took our spaniel,...

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.

Haven't stayed, but excellent range of well-kept cask ales including normally a couple from Penzance Brewing Co in Crowlas, near Penzance.

What a gem! We had no idea where to go for lunch but chose the shed; a great choice! The steak was so good and the sole cooked to perfection. Great wine, appetisers and dessert to boot. Fantastic value and the service was great Thank you so much.
