My friend Debbie and I went for a walk along the canal this afternoon and spotted this cafe so we thought we would give it a try. We weren't disappointed! It's located alongside the Guild Wheel and the canal itself. The atmosphere was very welcoming and we absolutely loved the decor! Apparently it was an old stable block. There were some lovely cakes on display and some equally lovely ice cream as well but we were too full so we will try those next time! The staff made us extremely welcome and yes the toilets were spotless! Oh and it's dog friendly too - I'll bring one of mine next time!

Great cafe in a lovely spot by the canal serving excellent coffee with a good range of delicious cakes. Also fantastic 1950/60 musical soundtrack playing in the background which really enhanced the vibe and feel. Definitely somewhere I will return to again, if only to hear some more songs I haven't heard for a very long time.

The Final Whistle Cafe at UCLan Sports Arena is a fantastic spot run by a lovely family, who can’t do enough for you. Conveniently located just off the Guild Wheel and Lancaster Canal, it’s a perfect stop for a break to rest and refuel. They have a small play area that kept my toddler entertained while I enjoyed a hot coffee and a huge slice of their delicious homemade carrot cake. Let me emphasise, this slice of cake was enormous, a true indulgence for just £3.50! I also sampled a very nice chicken, cheese, and pesto panini, which was flavorful and tasty. The toddler had a huge choice on her hands from endless flavours of Wallings Ice Cream which was served from a small area they have converted to an ice cream parlour! Final Whistle Cafe keep up the great work!… we will be back soon!

We were a group of 12 very wet bikers riding the Guild Wheel in nonstop rain. We made an impromptu lunch stop at This great cafe. How pleased we were - great music brought instant cheer to our bedraggled bikers plus a very warm welcome and a fantastic range of food was a delight to behold. Valentine hearts and lovely music washed away our rainy day blues. Thank you Gaynor and team we were so glad to find you today. Celia and Val.

I have cycled past here numerous times and I have yet to find it open. I pass on Saturdays and Sundays and it’s always closed. I rode past yesterday lunchtime and fancied a bacon butty but, guess what? Closed again!

We were walking a portion of the Guild Wheel which passes through the grounds of the Sports Centre and decided o stop here for a break. We all had Sausage and Egg Barm Cakes and Teas and Cofee's. The facilities and decor are really great and the staff here were very helpful and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend a visit here.

I was recommended to try the big breakfast barm by my mum and dad. Wasn’t disappointed. Sausage, bacon and egg on a buttered barm. Perfectly cooked. Me and my partner shared a cherry bakewell and an almond slice too. Reasonable prices, friendly staff and nice clean place. Nice location by the canal too. Can sit inside or out. Will be back. Lots more to try on the menu. They have toasties, paninis, burgers and hot dogs.

Great location just by the canal and the Guild Wheel, excellent for when you want a brew or a snack while out and about. It's also next to the UCLan sports arena so gets very busy when games or training are on. Very basic cafe, with simple cheap basic food and snacks. Plenty of seating inside plus a few outside for when it's sunny. Quriky decoration with bikes up on the walls and framed signed (rugby/football?) shirts. It's clean and tidy inside. Service from the young staff can be slow at times, but they get there in the end. Like I said great location when out walking and very useful for me. Free parking, for you car and for your boat in the canal. Popular with young and old.

The meals board is relatively basic, and my first ask was for a jacket potato, not on the menu, I then asked for chicken chili and cheese Panini, unfortunately no Chicken, then ordered a sausage bacon and cheese toastie to then be told only got brown bread left, okay I will have to go with that, the staff member was polite even though full of sniffles, the building isn't bad, and at least it kept the freezing cold off me, all in all not a bad place, I was just unfortunate to have a minimalistic menu.

We made use of UCLAN sports pitch for a football party and followed this with food at the Final Whistle Cafe. From kick to the Final Whistle the kids had a fab time. There is a mezzanine area for the party which allowed an area for games and a separate half for food. The service was excellent and the menu offering was great value and there are plenty of options and flexibility to tailor to your needs. As our party was for younger children many parents opted to stay and the cafe proved a big success especially whilst the kids were entertained playing football. Kelly couldn’t have been more helpful providing a playlist / Bluetooth speaker and also decorating the party area with our decorations.

Came here for a quick tea here as live round the corner. Ordered food and coffee to stay in. Ended up with everything in takeaway boxes . I asked for the food and coffee to be put on plates and coffee in a mug. We heard the staff whinging about us. Our paninis wasn’t even cooked through and cheese not melted. Had to ask for one of them to be cooked more and again staff whinging to other staff. My child’s cheese on toast with beans on the side came as toast with cheesy beans, not what I ordered. The staff don’t seem friendly at all and doesn’t seem to be any kind of organisation or nice atmosphere. This is a shame as this place has a great potential but very much lacking.

Was walking the canal tow path from Preston on the Ribble Link and happened on this cafe towards the end of our walk. What a super little place. We really didn't think it would be open on a drizzly Sunday afternoon in January but it was. It is a stone barn type building which has been renovated to provide a ground floor and upper mezzanine with plenty of seats and tables as well as one or two sofas. Beautifully warm and providing a good selection of sandwiches and cakes it really hit the spot. The lady behind the counter was lovely and very helpful. A perfect spot to stop if you are on a walk and dogs are allowed in too!

Nice place, nice little walk for me down the red ways/cycle routes. Sells everything you would expect a little cafe to sell. Seems always open, only problem I can see is some of the customers it gets on days when the sports facility attached is in use. I walked in with my double pram, the family behind me practically broke the sound barrier to get the last table. Pity they had not travelled at that speed the rest of their lives and they would then be more on the athletic side of build rather than mountain. I looked around and discovered upstairs was free, suggested they went up there as no lift, was met with a grunt. Probably the most intelligent thing they have said in ten years. Anyhow nice cafe just avoid on days events are on.

We've never been to Preston before the cafe looked nice and inviting from the kerb, inside was nice, staff curtious.its a shame food was below standard. The pie was so hard and stale, the gravy was a thick tasteless gloom. The burger was one you would get in a Pizza shop. Not good at all.

Situated on a junction controlled by traffic lights made it difficult to enter the small and compact car park. Having eventually parked the car I was please that I’d stopped here. Inside, the premises have been tastefully designed and converted from what was probably a Bank. It has is a small room where you can sit which has a large safe/vault door. The rest of the premises have a variety of tables and chairs spread around the room. There is also outdoor seating with canopies covering them. Our coffees were very good along with some Biscotti biscuits. It was nice to relax on a Sunday afternoon reading a newspaper whilst it poured with rain outside.

Really great night and a special shout out for Max, who made my wife’s night with a special cocktail. Max was attentive through the night, engaging in our conversation and generally being a great host. Will definitely be returning!!!!

Bernadette & I called in for a "Light Lunch" after we had been performing on Preston Flag Market" Our first visit to The Larder. We were made very welcome - the food was marvellous - far outweighing our expectations. The place has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Well done I can honestly say - never, in my 68 years, have I had a baked potato, served to me, that looked so appetising.
