I am not usually a fan of Robinson’s pubs but the Black Horse is the exception that proves the rule. It’s a beautiful ‘arts and crafts’ style with an outstanding range of non-Robinson’s beers. I plumped for a Lancaster Brewery offering that was tasty and well kept. Also of note is there’s an upstairs which, when we were there, had over 17 different ciders on. Great pub.

Good pub, with awards, but the bar staff today was a young ignorant lad whom did not have any manners or clean hands, barred a seemingly pleasant lad at the orders of the landlord, without the land lord explaining or doing it himself, or explaining to the staff why.

Nice pub and interior but beer at £4.50 a pint is getting silly. Also the pint pulled was way under measure and I had to ask to have it topped otherwise that’s about 50p extra profit. Not good really

A CAMRA Good beer guide entry. A Robinson's outlet with guest ales is a very rare find. Four Robbies (incl Old Tom winter ale at 8.5%..years ago it was only sold in 1/3 pint glasses..because one pint got you drunk!) plus five guest ales and a real cider. Jorvic had a pint of Lakeland Gold at 4.4% from Lakeland. Madge however did not like any of the lagers and had a Pepsi. Lovely pub, super architecture. Four downstairs rooms plus upstair function room. Mixed clientel.

An absolute gem right in the heart of Preston. An amazing (proper) pub full of charm and character. Real ale connoisseurs dream with many cask ale pubs constantly changing and many awards for their efforts. Beer prices are slightly higher than other pubs in the area but its definitely worth it! The range and quality is outstanding and the architecture is just beautiful. However, the real heart of this pub lies with the superb friendly service and knowledgeable staff, that make everyone feel welcome.

It has been many years since I was in this fine old pub which is in the heart of Preston. It has lost none of its old style charm. The fixtures and fittings are almost all original and there are plemty of them from stained glass windows to a unique tiled bar. Cask Ales were the order of the day and several were on offer. WOW! Brought here by a friend and walked into a pub where I felt I had known the bar man for years! Playing the Sex Pistols when we entered which was refreshing to hear. Old style decor and a knowledgeable barman who offered a selection of ciders to my taste without hesitation. Great jukebox inside where you can select your own taste in music which was a refreshing change. So good, our friends went again a few days later! Casual relaxed atmosphere and will always visit now when in town.

Always worth a trip through the doors here: there's a beautiful ceramic tiled horseshoe bar, several snugs to cosy up in; very pleasing glass work and, not least, a good selection of interesting beers served by pleasant staff. Mention should also be made of the pies, which, whilst I think are not made on site, are just what the doctor ordered around your fourth beer. Can commend.

With a largely unchanged Victorian interior, this pub is a work or art. Several separate spaces including two front snugs, a tap room and a charming seating booth at the far end radiate around the central bar and with some impressive mosaic floor tiling and internal glazed windows above the island bar it would be worth going out of your way to visit just for that. But then factor in a superb ale range, despite being a Robinson’s tied house and you have a must visit pub. The ale selection available on my visit included four ales from the Robinson brand and four guests. Brilliant to see Robinson's Old Tom on pump alongside Robinsons Unicorn, Dizzy Blonde Amarillo Pale and White Label Pale Ale .The guests were Castle Rock Screech Owl, White Horse Wayland Smithy, Ossett White Rat and Titanic Plum Porter Special Reserve. If I hadn’t been on a crawl I could have spent all day here.

Bernadette & I called in for a "Light Lunch" after we had been performing on Preston Flag Market" Our first visit to The Larder. We were made very welcome - the food was marvellous - far outweighing our expectations. The place has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Well done I can honestly say - never, in my 68 years, have I had a baked potato, served to me, that looked so appetising.

Situated on a junction controlled by traffic lights made it difficult to enter the small and compact car park. Having eventually parked the car I was please that I’d stopped here. Inside, the premises have been tastefully designed and converted from what was probably a Bank. It has is a small room where you can sit which has a large safe/vault door. The rest of the premises have a variety of tables and chairs spread around the room. There is also outdoor seating with canopies covering them. Our coffees were very good along with some Biscotti biscuits. It was nice to relax on a Sunday afternoon reading a newspaper whilst it poured with rain outside.

We've never been to Preston before the cafe looked nice and inviting from the kerb, inside was nice, staff curtious.its a shame food was below standard. The pie was so hard and stale, the gravy was a thick tasteless gloom. The burger was one you would get in a Pizza shop. Not good at all.
