Better than previous years when it was the poppy fields. Friendly service and edible food so can't Complain!

Update 2024 October Nice friendly staff, good selection of real beers. Food was a little expensive for what you got, but was tasty and hot. Introduce a loyalty card like beefeater, bring down the price of beers and introduce a happy hour and you will see me more often. Update 2023 June Was looking forward to a nice pint of Hobgoblin (£5.60), unfortunately the pint I was served was not drinkable, this was changed with no problem for a pint of Pedigree which was not top notch. There is a large housing development which is beginning to overlook the gardens closest to the round about. Update 2023 March Had a burger which was quite nice. Service was good and staff were friendly, but we felt under pressure to order our food quickly, In my opinion this felt more like pub food which is not a problem, but the price does not reflect this, interesting some conduments where in the original manufacturer containers. See photograph. 2022 Friendly staff, not to busy late afternoon and they sell Directors and Pedigree bitter. Sorry I have had to remove 1 star as the drinks price is excessive for this type of pub/restaurant. Nice gardens but very close to a busy road.

A very nice roast Sunday lunch was had here along with the pleasant and efficient staff members. Polite but always friendly Only disappointment was the added peas instead of greens or broccoli and neither of us were keen on the braised red cabbage.

Very pleasant lunch, with 10 month old! Menu good, perhaps a bit overpriced, but good selection. Lighter lunch menu could be expanded a little. Our waiter was lovely.

Went for lunch today lovely food and staff give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Real shame. Felt sorry for the staff who explained they had had 100 hours of staffing cut next week and had 50% of staff missing today. Waited over an hour for food. Bitter was flat. No real 'service' available - only able to order at the bar. Get your own cutlery and condiments. Another case of the big bucks at the top don't really care about those working for them at the bottom, except it's the staff there that have to face the unhappy customers and take the brunt of the crap. Food was actually good but we won't be back. Hope things improve for the employees (none of which must have been over 21!)

Was really busy. But service was very friendly, and drinks were with us quickly. Food to a little time but not surprised because of how busy it was. But starters and mains were hot and very tasty. Somehow we squeezed desert in too. Can't fault the restaurant. Only thing is if your thinking of going book in advance, as saw a few disappointed people walking away.

Ruby provided excellent service on Friday . The food was great and we were really impressed.

I came to this restaurant with my partner for the first time. We were very impressed with the ambient and been given a nice welcome from one of the assistants. Good choices on the menu. We both had steak which was tasty especially the chunky chips, well done chefs and the service was good. A couple of things that need improving, one of the management staff that served us who I assumed is another customer can at least improve the dress code by wearing a decent shirt rather then a t-shirt and after when he cleared our table, we smelled something quite unpleasant and after when we were asked by the same person if we want desserts and we both said no thank you, that unpleasant smell came back again and we suspect that personal hygiene was not up to standard especially one of the management staff who was not quite leading by example. Those are the reasons why I couldn't leave a tip especially lacking personal hygiene. Next time if I ever one day come back there again, I expect minimum improvement so that the atmosphere will not be spoiled again.

We go every week for a meal after bike riding and Jack behind the bar is very friendly and accommodating and the chef gets the food out on time and is always very nice

The food is excellent tonight service was always with a smile and Jack went out of his way to help us with finding a table. Lovely pub and so good you can bring the dog. We will be back soon.

Lovely atmosphere and very dog friendly! Came for lunch here and the service was excellent! Food was delicious and even did a doggy burger which my little one devoured.

Lovely ambiance in the restaurant. Must be good full up on a Monday! Service excellent, so pleased as I was taking my two lovely grand daughters out for a meal. The service staff worked together as a good team Enjoyed the food, excellent bruschetta for starters, then ham and chips and a dessert.

Very unhappy with the whole experience, Our initial order was rushed and then it was a lengthy wait for the food. The lasagne was burnt and dry, garlic bread was too hard. Didn't enjoy vegan ice cream and to top it off most of the female toilets didn't have toilet paper. When time came to pay bill the staff were clearly in the bar area for the quiz and wasn't easy to get their attention. will definitely not visit again when there's an event on.

Staff were friendly and welcoming to us and the dog and the food was lovely and good value.

Good food, good service, considering when we got there it was very busy and we were a party of 12 and the service was spot on.

We sat in the front garden by the bin. There was rubbish everywhere. The staff cleared tables but the rubbish stayed. However, our waitress was nice. We had the sharing platter and the chicken was extremely salty but the rest of the food was nice. The Pepsi on tap wasn't nice. I like that there is self serve water and a little park for little ones to run around in and convenient parking. The outside area would have been nice if it wasn't for the rubbish, although it is a little loud being on such a busy road.

The premises are excellent, all the staff are very polite, helpful, knowledgeable and sociable. The choice of menu is very good, and the food was excellent as were all the staff. George is a real asset to your company. He helped make our dining out more enjoyable.

Came to the fields for a late afternoon lunch. The service received from cassie was attentive and nothing was too much to ask. The burger I had was outstanding, cooked by John I do believe. If you want a lovely lunch with quick service make your way to the fields!

"We don't have a frying pan to cook the eggs...." It’s very rare that I give the lowest rating, but on this occasion, I believe it is justified. First of all, we received a call before arriving to inform us that the kitchen had run out of roasts, which seemed quite ridiculous for a Sunday. However, we decided not to cancel our booking, as it would have been difficult to find another restaurant for a table of 12. Unfortunately, things got worse. Upon ordering, the waitress informed us that there were no eggs available for the mixed grill because, and I quote, "we don't have a frying pan to cook them on." She mentioned that this had been discussed in the staff WhatsApp group, with one staff member even suggesting they bring in their own frying pan. Despite the lack of eggs, three of us still wanted the mixed grill. A few minutes later, however, the waitress returned to say that there was only one mixed grill available. Two of us had to choose different meals; I opted for the burger, but then I was told there was no coleslaw. By this point, a few of us at the table were understandably frustrated, and that frustration was palpable. We requested some form of discount. As the meals were being served, the waitresses seemed rather heavy-handed with the plates. Initially, we thought they might be in a rush, but as they placed the final plates down, one of the waitresses handed a hot plate to a member of our party, who burned her hand because the plate was so hot. The waitress dropped the plate on the table as a result. For some, the food was "alright," but for others, it was subpar to the point where large portions were left uneaten, including my son's meal, which was far too peppery. He has had this meal many times before, and it’s never been that strong, especially for a children’s dish. We did manage to get a replacement meal for him. When it came to dessert, we were told there was no apple crumble available. While this may seem like a minor issue, given everything else that had been unavailable or missing from the meals, it only added to the sense that the restaurant was being run like a school canteen. To top it off, we could see the staff talking about our table through the kitchen window, and I overheard them discussing us from across the room near the till. This was particularly upsetting as it was my wife’s birthday, and she ended up in tears in the toilet, which was heart-breaking for all of us. We did receive a discount on the food, and I am grateful that the manager was able to accommodate a table of 12 at the last minute, but sadly, I cannot recommend or leave a positive review due to the overall experience. Had the manager come over to apologies for the lack of food and the frying pan situation, we would have laughed it off, and I wouldn’t be leaving a 1-star review. However, they didn’t approach us once, leaving the poor waitress to handle everything on her own. There are a few lessons to take away from this experience: 1. Ensure proper stock management. 2. Don’t publicly admit to not having a frying pan. 3. Instruct staff not to make it obvious when they’re discussing customers. 4. If there’s an issue, the manager should step in to resolve it directly.

Our party of 5 were greeted at the door and from that moment we were treated like royalty. Every member of staff had a cheery smile and a hello from several . We were shown to our seats and noted how spacious the restaurant is now, after being refurbished also the delightful decor .We had everything explained to us and told that our waitress was Katie . A very pleasant young lady who spoke clearly and took our orders for drinks , which arrived in no time at all .We then ordered our meals , which were all different . They arrived soon and we were all pleased with the presentation , As i said to the manager 'Andy' when asked how our meals were , ' the chips were to die for '. Never ordering chips because of so many disappointments , i was most impressed . Then ordering our deserts 2 chose the bread and butter pudding and the other 3 chose apple and caramel tarts , delicious ! The attention to detail and our every need was catered for . We were all very impressed by the whole experience and will be returning . In fact i have booked next Saturday evening and taking 2 friends . Well done everyone that made our meal out so enjoyable .

The menu options have something for everyone. It was easy to order, the service was efficient, and the food was of a very good standard.

Quite a modern restaurant / pub. We arrived 3pm on a Sunday and really struggled to park. There's plenty of room inside the building and adequate space outside for the kids to play in the recreation area they have (ideally for kids up to 7-8) and another beer garden which is lovely in the sun. We paid what you'd expect for 3 meals and 4 drinks these days (£45 for 2 kid drinks, a pint and a cider, with 1 main and 2 kids meals.) The 2 stars for food is portion size. We aren't a big family by any means but everyone was still hungry. Our signature burger was small and the tiny pot that served half a portion of french fries inside really had us questioning the burger main for £16! The best plate was the sausage and mash for our eldest, 2 good size sausage and plenty of mash. The chicken nuggets were sad, again, a handful of chips with 4 nuggets - £6. Fruit shoots for £2.10 felt steep too. Overall, if we were going to come back, it'd be for a drink, not for the food.

We decided to go here for our 23rd anniversary, we had not been here before and had heard mixed reviews. The atmosphere was very friendly and uplifting, the staff were very friendly and professional. I had the mixed grill as I saw it actually had a lamb chop included, most places give you chicken instead and for the first time that I can remember the steak was medium-rare as requested and not medium to well done that I have had elsewhere. Will definitely be revisiting here again 👌

First of all the "Fields at Aylesford" is a renaming and refurbished venue from the Poppy Fields and only opened this week 27th February 22. The Pub/ Restaurant is a bright and engaging venue. You can tell its a new staffing team as there is a new vibe in the air - which is good I think and staff are really trying to please. I booked online and had many reminders about my booking so the venue is using technology to help with bookings. I booked a table to 2 and we arrived a few minutes before we were due to sit for lunch (12.15). George was on the door a lovely lad and the laptop was playing up a bit. I could not have a table I was interested in (16) by the window which was free which was strange as we were offered a table of 4 for 2 and the 16 ws not taken for almost all the time we were in the venue? The newness is nice and we had a nice table near the bar area (nice barman serving). The furniture my guest had was very heavy and I had to assist her into the table - even I had trouble to get the tub type chair in. Service was 30 minutes and acceptable - Charlotte our waitress was attentive and kept us informed about our food coming - good sign. I had the Pork and it came piled high with veg and roast potatoes and gravy. A little more presentation would have been better - remained me of school dinners. The food could have been a bit hotter - but acceptable. My guest and Fish and Chips which was fine. I could not finish mine as it was to much but the Fish and Chips all went! Decided to have ice cream for sweet and coffee - both OK Overall - a nice Sunday meal out - and would come back - nothing special but acceptable for the price of £12.50 per main. Points of note: Ask the guests if the table is OK and offer an alternative as I mentioned. Food could be presented - less on the plate Food could have been hotter - choice Taste was good.

Went to visit Fields last week and the service was outstanding. Tried my very first kebab and it was lovely!! Ellie looked after us and she was so helpful giving us recommendations and looking after us Highly recommend !

We had won a meal voucher in school raffle which is why we came. The staff were really helpful and went out of their way to make the meal feel special. The staff and food were great. I marked down a bit as there were some tables that needed clearing and staff were clearly very busy so perhaps needed more staff on.

Very poor. Unfortunately this is what is wrong with eating out nowadays. Complete rip off. Truffle Mac and Cheese with Chorizo. No Truffle, or Macaroni, with 5 little bits of Chorizo! £14.99!!! Should be more like £3! Also charging £4 for a coke. Lesson learnt, won’t be going back. Plus point, misses enjoyed her lasagne. But again £14.99 for a small pasta dish.

Came in for a few drinks and I’ve had the best experience all thanks to Ellie, absolutely great customer service and knowledge of different wines. I will definitely be returning based off this interaction! however if i had not been served by Ellie I probably wouldnt return due to hostility from another member of staff with dark hair.

Staff were friendly and the food was typical pub food, not bad. However, felt pushed out at the end of the night as they wanted to shut early and we had to leave at 10.30pm

was looking forward to the hunters chicken when it came out, i had around 7 chips witch was stone cold same for the chicken it was cold too and half the plate was full of little gem and rocket wasn’t happy considering it was £15 i wont be coming back

Came here today I hadn’t been in a while the Food was lovely, The lady serving her name was Cheryl I believe she was very friendly, we was never waiting long between courses or for drinks and checking that all was ok with each course nothing was too much thank you 🙏 xx

Been here a few times over last ten years. Went this evening as not been for a year for dinner and a drink with my husband. Scampi and chips, had better from supermarket, my husband’s chicken burger meal was 40% not edible as it had spicy hot honey sauce and over fried chicken burger (no warnings of spicy heat on menu) the burger looked like a seriously over fried onion bargee. That cost with one glass of wine and one pint of beer £48. Then I had one glass of wine when leaving which when checking my online bank almost £11 for one glass of wine. No wonder they behind the bar thanked us when leaving! Will not be going back. Been totally ripped off. I suggest they use their money to clean up the dirty and tired garden that they allow dogs and smokers in to as it’s a bloody disgrace.

Having not visited the restaurant since it was called PoppyFields (and not having the best experience) we visited for Sunday lunch last week. The restaurant exceeded expectations, the staff were fantastic and the food great. Keep up the good work!

Popped in late just before they stopped serving food, but managed to eat. Served by Jenny Stunning food and great service from excellent staff. Highly recommend to all we will be back.

Came here for Sunday lunch on the way through to Aylesford. Food was lovely, and Amy the waitress was very attentive & friendly. Nothing was a problem. Would recommend and also come back.

Food and drinks were good, but with the offer on the number of diners was to many for the numbers of staff. We waited ages for our drinks and then the mains arrived as soon as we finished our starters. No specials again. We were going to order another drink but service was too slow

Very poor service came in at 20:45 didn’t seem to want to give a table had to sit bar side due restaurant table not being cleaned. Table wasn’t clean, ordered food at the bar food wasn’t great for the price. Then when ordered dessert they came out with it but table hadn’t been cleared from main meal, dessert for one of us wasn’t very good when complained we were told that is right it because its vegan. Also all I see is staff standing chatting behind the bar when tables need cleaning.

Cheryl our waitress was absolutely excellent for 6 diners, very friendly and professional. Took avantage of 30% voucher. Food hot and good.

Attended for a birthday meal recently and unfortunately did not have a very good time at all. I had the truffle and chorizo mac and cheese and I did not enjoy it, it was so bland which was odd considering there was meant to be truffle and chorizo - two strong flavours mixed in. The dish was not a sufficient size for a main dish, I had approximately one layer of macaroni in the dish and left hungry. The “green salad” as stated on the menu with the dish consisted of shredded iceburg lettuce on its own (very unimaginative). And the garlic bread looked fancy however the way it’s made leaves the top layer of bread tasting lovely and garlicky and the rest as plain bread and others agreed. We then were given side plates for the birthday cake which were very warm (not the best idea for chocolate cake). The restaurant was so uncomfortably warm too which I know is hard to control in August but not having any air flow made it very difficult. Fortunately, I have to say I had the calamari starter which tasted amazing and had a lovely sauce on the side. And the servers were running around really trying their hardest and were so polite which was noted. I didn’t mention the faults at the time as I wanted to leave and get out into fresh air. Hopefully the review is passed onto management to work on better air flow in the restaurant and the chefs to see if they can tweak the dishes to make it more enjoyable for future customers.

Not great. I won't go back. The building is lovely, everything else is below average. The waitress kept calling us "my lovely" which was patronising and uncalled for. The table was sticky, and hadn't been cleaned properly, the menu had sticky food on it, a knife was still dirty, the salt pot was covered in food. No cleanliness at all. Gross! We went at 12.30pm on a Tuesday and was told they only had 2 tables left, even though the place was quite empty. The food presentation was pretty bad, and looked like it was from a cheap café. I had Hunters Chicken and the accompanying salad was just shredded lettuce! At the end, when the waitress brought our bill, I showed her my debit card, and then she huffed and said "I'll go back and get the machine". Well, why not just bring it over in the first place?! The whole thing was shameful, and I'm glad I only went there with family and not anyone else, I'd have been embarrassed.

Good standard Fayre for a chain restaurant. Glad we had a discount code as I would have found it difficult paying full price for the food. Atmosphere was okay and the staff were attentive when necessary.

As a coeliac was very happy with the clear separate gf menu which gave me a number of good and clear choices. We were also able to charge our EV in the car park which was very helpful prior to travelling home to Hampshire. Most of the party enjoyed their meals very much - only issue was we were unable to sample the lemon tart or fruit crumble desserts (they weren't available) otherwise we might have stayed for desserts too!

Came here on a Sunday early evening. Booked in advance but there was no need - plenty of available tables. We were told that no Sunday roasts plus a couple of other items off the menu. I assume they were short-staffed because the staff seemed very tired. Took a while to get our drinks because they could not find the wine. The food was very basic. The children had "ice cream" which they did not like the taste of. When we asked what the strange flavour was, we were told they only do a vegan substitute. All in all a very disappointing experience. The only highlight was that we were told it was an hour wait for food (strange time for the chef to take a break!) whereas the food actually came quite quickly.

Came in for dinner yesterday lunch, the two waitresses that were working (Cheryl & Cassie) were lovley very attentive and nothing was to much trouble: .

Usually enjoy coming to the fields but today wasn't one of those days.. When we got through the doors there was only one person on the bar trying to serve a long queue of people, we waited 10 minutes and no one came to seat us.. My puppy then accidentally had an accident in the door way whilst we was waiting to even get seated.. my mum went to let someone know.. a waitress came over and cleaned it up but was huffing and sighing the whole time.. my daughters then mentioned to her that she works with their daddy.. they then tell her who it is and she huffed and said "oh" in a grumpy way.. We then left as it put us off being there.. I then sat outside on the hill in the shade waiting for my mum to grab our car as there's not enough disabled spots in the car park.. I then had an epileptic seizure on site, apparently people went inside to say this & no one came out so definitely not a good experience today There was also a plank of wood with nails sticking up on the hill (picture attached) which was definitely dangerous especially if a child was running on the grass

Parking was plentiful, greeted by friendly man. Arrived early but still shown to our table. Given enough time to decide what to order without hassle. Ordered a prawn cocktail starter as.my main meal and it was a.bit lacking but pleasant enough. Husband had mixed grill which had a.good selection, each element cooked really well.

What an awful place! Avoid, it’s dirty, tacky and the food is atrocious. Overpriced for frozen out a packet rubbish.

Food was very disappointing, I ordered a burger which was served burnt, dry and barely edible, my husband had a vegetarian burger which was under cooked and tasted awful. We ordered vodka and lemonades and were not given options but upon receiving the bill, realised we had been given grey goose which was really expensive. When we wanted to leave I asked for the bill and then waited 15 minutes and then had to go and look for someone to pay and was then told to go and sit down until someone came over. I refused and insisted to pay so I could leave which wasn’t well received by the staff member. Considering this place is more expensive than most pubs I would have expected a better quality of food and service.

Family celebration for 22 people including children. We were sat in a room just off the main restaurant area. We had dedicated servers (Abi and Lily) who were absolutely amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. There was no pressure to hurry up at all, in fact we were told we could stay way beyond our booked time if we wanted. We bought a birthday cake with us, which they stored and brought in with the candles alight. I definitely recommend as an affordable and friendly venue that went out of their way to make our afternoon special.
