Been coming to the Cafe for years. Grandkids came up from Devon so brought them in. While there is a lot of choice for the kids lunch box I feel it is deliberately set up to charge extras multi deck has items all over it included and not included in deal. 1 example Putting flavoured milk drinks in this mix (not included) next to items that are included means choices are made a long time prior to tills the snacks included are no where near the selection area. My advise would be 2 selves and book area bring all together would not mean extra cost or disappointed children. ( I wouldn’t say no once at till) signage was up but obscured by sandwiches and font designed to be difficult to read.

Really lovely cafe, great coffee and very dog friendly. Overall a super place, the only negative is the radio playing awful music and adverts. Would be much better with some quiet music that doesn’t impose as much.

It was our first visit yesterday and we were very disappointed as our Scottish currency was refused. We also felt intimidated by your staffs reaction when we handed over our Scottish sterling notes! With respect perhaps you could advise all staff that Scottish currency is in actual fact legal tender!

I used to love coming here. Very disappointed with this Café since ownership changed. No more gf cakes ever - flapjacks hardly count - and the menu is not labelling individual items like chips as containing gluten or not. There is a general comment at the bottom to say this place handles gluten. What good is that may I ask? Don't get me started on the price of a simple kids cheese toasties (half a slice of bread) for £6.95 Come on!!!

Stopped off for a coffee and a light lunch. Very well organised with a one way system in place. COVID track & trace and plenty of seating outside and under cover. We are a family of four with a twelve year old and ten year old. We met up with friends with two children the same age as ours. Service in the cafe is slow. Long time queuing to place order and they delivered the food for the two families separately with a five minute wait in between, despite us placing the order together and asking for it to be served at the same time. When we mentioned this, the waitress explained that they had to split cooking the order in two due to the size of our group (eight people) although we were not told this when we paid.Children’s sausage and chips and chicken tenders and chips are very small portions. They cost £3.85 and only included the hot meal. Did not include a drink or small dessert. Not great value for the small portion size. It would have been nice to have the option to pay £5.95 to get a bigger portion for older children.Bacon sandwich was good.Cheese and ham toastie was average. Standard food for a park cafe.

Generally a convenient and family-friendly cafe with a good selection of snacks and some healthy options such as pots of fruit. Do not expect this cafe to be very warm and cosy (this is a winter review). It has an outdoors-y atmosphere which is well in keeping with the walking/outdoor amenities of the park.I find that the indoor section is not kept as clean as I would like. While we were there recently an assistant came to clear dirty cups from our table but did not wipe it or clean the chocolate and crumbs from the table, seats and floor beneath. We wiped and brushed the seats ourselves, then sat with our feet in food debris. I realise that with child customers all the time there is bound to be some mess but I do think that a little bit of brush-and-dustpan work would have given us a more pleasant experience and set a better example to the grandchildren who were with us. I would also like to review the Lakeside Cafe/Bar/Restaurant at the other end of the Park, which I understand is run by the same people but I cannot find it on Trip Advisor.

Nice setting for this cafe and obviously very popular. We waited just over 45 mins for our food without being told there was a long wait, which was pretty frustrating as we were very hungry and you don't expect to wait so long in a cafe. My burger was very nice and the kids meals looked good, although one of the kids meals was served without one of the things that should have come with it (beans) without any explanation for this. I think given how nice my food was, I'd have forgiven the wait, but my husbands fish was terribly overcooked, so this isn't somewhere we'd return any time soon.

I visited the Ferry Meadows Cafe earlier in the year , whilst there I used the toilet facilities which were not up to standard. After contacting Raj by email he responded to my concern with a resolution to my complaint. He regularly updated me on the progress of the implementation of new procedures to ensure the facilities are now acceptable. I did not expect to receive a response so it was a pleasant surprise to hear from Raj. Fantastic customer service from a Manager who obviously cares about the cafe and customers opinions. much nicer inside now and warmer than the new coffee bar at Lakeside, although you cannot get away from the fact that the Lakeside view is wonderful. The food is good and this coffee bar is much more comfortable and relaxing, its warm and has character as well as a nice view. It is smaller than Lakeside but much better in design than Lakeside, I find sitting in Lakeside can be windy or cold depending on the weather, due to 3 large doors all leading into the coffee bar and in my opinion being quite clinical.

The surroundings no doubt are beautiful but the service and quality of what was served fell short of any expectations. I ordered a chocolate brownie and a cappuccino whilst my friend who kindly bought my snacks asked for another brownie and a mocha. The coffees tasted both just like slightly chocolatey pond water and too similar to each other for the fact they're different types of coffee. The brownie was fine. Another friend of ours ordered a flavoured ice coffee which tasted of nothing due to the syrup being put in first and sticking to the bottom of the cup. Not the fastest of service I've ever received but the staff were friendly enough.

We visit regularly as the view over the lake is beautiful. In recent times we have needed to return our cups and ask for better ones. Too many are chipped and stained with the surface worn off. A few times now there have been no better cups so we have sat with takeaway cups. This time the young waiter was reluctant to give us paper cups, trying to tell us it's OK to drink from chipped and stained cups, even though he agreed the one in his hand was beyond salvaging and actually hadn't been scrubbed before putting in the dishwasher. Our tuna melt toastie was quite a time arriving, considering there were no other customers waiting for hot food. When it arrived it was undoubtedly oozing melted cheese, but no obvious tuna, but the bread was black, incinerated. We returned this and opted for a refund, with a welcome apology. However, we didn't order anything else and went elsewhere for lunch. I reckon the cafe needs more mature responsible staff when the owner isn't around, too much chatting and the toastie was forgotten. But, there have been improvements recently. At least there is a hand drier in the toilet block that works now after months of asking why the drier wasn't repaired or paper towels made available. People and kids playing in the park need to have handwashing facilities, so thanks to the visitor centre staff who said they would look into the matter.A bit more attention to detail would go a long way to improving the venue. The wooden tables on the patio urgently need a clean. the gaps between the planks are filthy, full of rotting food, lollipop sticks and worse and not just accumulated that day. Too many dog owners let their pet sit on the tables as well, so my advice is always use a plate and wash your hands well if you touch the tables! I suppose there will always be customers as the cafe is situated next to a great play park for tiny tots with loads of alfresco seating near the lake. The interior of the cafe is however very dull and dingy.

If this is the Lake side cafe then: Cafe is ok, they serve soya products and decaff etc which is more rare for smaller cafes, but there is a good selection. It could be less expensive, but would say it's average in comparison to most seasonal independently run cafes. The food and drinks are generally ok, but usually cold in winter, something to do with temperature served so not to burn anyone, but we find them too cold too quick, maybe a hot cup to start would assist. We will continue to go here, but would like it to be better service and quality for the prices. We do however appreciate that they get very busy, but never seem to be organised and hurried to serve clients. It's what you'd expect from that sort of establishment, unfortunately, but has potential!

The cafe near to the visitor centre is much better than the new Lakeside cafe. However there is so much more which could still be done to improve. Today's visit certainly provided the nicest scones since the current owner took over. For the first time we were given a truly freshly baked scone with some 'real' jam with fruit in it, rather than the red coloured tasteless gel of the past. Service could improve further still, more attention to table clearing and cleaning, but over many recent visits, the food on offer has improved. Dogs, or rather their owners, can wreck the enjoyment of the lovely view and ample alfresco tables. Too many, too many long leads and too many dog scuffles. Overheard one group of irritating and rude dog owners, upset as the only table without a dog or several was me at mine, I should move, suggesting that the cafe should be for the exclusive use of dogs and dog owners!!! ....The toilets at the venue need cleaning more often, the ladies often awash with ' water'.But glad to notice an improvement in the food.

Had a few visits to the park and alway go to this cafe! Just what you need in the this location. Really flexible on food choice and never had to wait long. The staff are great and alway check in with you.

We decided to try lunch here since it was so chilly outside and didn't want to head back on the train to a restaurant. On first look it is a very modern building with lovely views over the lake, however this was one of the only positives. The layout was poor with the only entry to outside for the staff being a very heavy sliding door, they tried to leave this open to make their job easier only for people inside to complain that it was letting the draught in and making everyone cold! We ordered similar meals to that of our friends who were in front of us yet twenty minutes after receiving our food they were still waiting with no reason as to the delay. We can only imagine what it must be like during the busy summer months and I will certainly not eat here again.

The cafe was clean, it was busy but didn't take to long to get served, prices reasonable, guess on one drawback was tables not being cleared quickly enough.but that was the only fault. We sat outside overlooking the lake

This was an unexpectedly nice find. The café served not just reasonably priced and yummy coffee and cakes but nice lunches too. You have the choice of sitting outside, better with small children or dogs when the weather is nice, or coming inside in the warm if it's a bit on the chilly side. Well worth a visit and you have plenty of opportunity to burn off the cake on foot or bicycle! You can even try the Geocaching 'treasure hunt' locations dotted around.

Nice choice of food. Hot meal or cuppa and a cake. Take it outside on the balcony or inside which is clean and airy.

This is lovely light and airy café over looking one of the lakes to call into when walking/cycling around Ferry Meadows. It is very clean, with good food and drinks and great staff.

Four of us ate here in the restaurant. Starters wild mushrooms in cream/garlic on bread. Mains - gammon, braised beef, pork belly and fish and chips. Desserts apple and rhubarb crumble. The service was excellent and food hot and tasty. Excellent portions and well priced. Only one suggestion- the crumble top needed cooking/browning more. it was pale and tasted floury. Also be nice to have some background music as only a couple of tables occupied.

Just had Christmas afternoon tea at The Orangery. The staff were friendly the food very nice, however we were seated in the side conservatory which was cold and devoid of any kind of Christmas atmosphere or decoration. Burghley always looks lovely at Christmas I don’t understand why they can’t make more of an effort with the part of the Orangery.
