Absolutely horrendous. We were here on a private function which included a pre-ordered 3 course meal. 1230 we got there for a 1pm serving. Starter came at 1.20pm Took staff 28minutes to clear starters away. A 38 minute wait for the main course, not worth waiting for! Salmon baked hard Roast spuds awful Veg, least and carrots (imaginative) and water bound cabbage My wife asked for a sauce for the salmon only to be brought some melted butter. Never have I seen so much wasted food after a main course. Pudding not much better, custard better used to paste wallpaper I felt embarrassed for the organisers. We will never go there again

My husband and I stayed at the Ferns farm Hotel, for 4 nights. It was an absolute nightmare. My husband and I have disabilities, we had to climb stairs to get to our room. We stayed in room number 2, on the first floor. We stayed in the family room. The bed was uncomfortable. I had to put duvets on top of one of the beds, as I have back problems. The railing at the side of the toilet came off. The bath and shower, were filthy, and surrounding areas. We couldn't get WiFi, all the time we were there, even outside we were struggling to get WiFi. There was a flat screen tv, which the remote didn't work. We told Martin, who works there, and he got us another remote. He was so kind, and his wife too. They tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The room was ok, but there was traffic up and down the main road. It was really warm, with it being summer, so you can imagine how hot it was. We asked if we could borrow a fan, and the landlady, give us a fan for free. The Restaurant was clean, and the food was lovely, freshly prepared. There's some good and bad points. This hotel needs upgrading for better facilities. It's no good if you have disabilities. My advice, don't stay at this hotel, go somewhere else. It's lovely for meals, but not for staying in. There's no breakfast at this hotel. The restaurant doesn't open while after 5pm, also, there's only one restaurant near to the Ferns farm Hotel. There's no shops or anything near by. You have to travel to the main town of Bridlington, or Morrisons, which is about 3 miles.

We stayed here earlier this year. It was adequate - just, only just. If we’d have seen the room before payment we probably would have found somewhere else. The rooms and access to them were tired - as were the staff we saw. There was huge potential for the place but a good clean and upgrading is badly required. The room we stayed in had a broken night stand lamp which was in all probability dangerous. We didn’t use it.

We'd like a refund... Dirty room... Bathroom... shower curtain filthy and mouldy, a rusty sink plug not attached to chain, dirty sink (covered in a grubby film) lots of dead insects on window sill. Two mostly empty toilet rolls. Very noisy, long flushing toilet. Bedroom... The bed, most important part of a stay... AWFUL! Uncomfortable mattress, lumpy and bumpy, springs going during the night, far too soft, flat, rubbish pillows, blind not shutting out very bright light right outside our bedroom window. Breakfast... awful quality food... very cheap sausages, hard bacon, no tea available, rubbish flask for hot water. Filthy bin too. They closed early which we knew nothing about. Holes in the wall about the window. A torn cushion on settee in entrance. Piled up washing near the stairs to our room. Dangerous small steps that are not made visible going up and down stairs. A refund please as this ruined our 1 night away!

A good last minute find. Very warm welcome. Martin and Debbie are very helpfull and they look after their guests. Can highly recommend the food. Which is cooked fresh to order so does take a little bit long to come out the kitchen. But is well worth the wait. Good range of drinks on offer. Room was very clean and comfy. Which was big as was the bathroom. The managers have only been in the position 6-8wks and are doing a great job. Nothing is too much trouble. We will be back. Thank you for your help especially this morning as we left on the back of a tow truck.

We were looking for somewhere for tea on our way home and what an amazing hidden gem we found ! The food was amazing , the warm welcome second to none , the whole place was immaculately clean and the staff hilarious. We left with a feeing we had just made lifelong friends. First and foremost the food was 5 stars and add that to the 5 star hospitality treatment we received , its a no brainer- we will definitely be returning ! Awesome chef , friendly smiley bar staff smooth perfect service from the waitresses and the wonderful Debbie who took care of all of us like we were family. Know you are special and we appreciate you all. We arrived expecting a quickie pub lunch but what we experienced was restaurant quality food and unbeatable hospitality . What a wonderful surprise evening we had . Thank you all of you . We smiled as we saw the beautiful bluebells growing on our way out .

Staff were friendly. Check in was relatively straightforward. The bar area is nice. The room wasn't clean, there was sugar and other food debris over the desk, visible dust all around the skirting boards, the toilet bowl hadn't been cleaned properly from the previous guest, the shower screen was dirty and there were hairs in the shower tray. I found the bed extremely uncomfortable and although peoples preferences on mattresses do vary, I feel this was a poor standard for anyone, it was old and extremely soft. The place definitely has a lot of potential with a bit of updating and better cleaning processes put in place.

Me and my partner were on a weekend away for his birthday. We weren't staying too far from Ferns Farm and decided to call in advance to ensure we could get a table. Upon arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff. However we did notice the dining area was empty. As my partner is gluten intolerant, we had to ensure that some of the food they served is gluten free. Whilst the food menu doesn't state what food was gluten free. They were more than happy to check with the chef. We decided to both opt for chilli con carne with rice. Both myself and my partner were pleasantly surprised as the food arrived quickly and was delicious! Due to this we couldn't understand why the restaurant was so empty. As we enjoyed the food and service so much. We returned the following day for lunch! We booked a table in advance once again. Thankfully we did, as there were lots of diners for their Sunday carvery! Upon arriving for a carvery lunch, we heard customers being turned away as the restaurant was so busy. Once again, we can't fault the service from staff or the quality of food! The chef also provided my partner with gravy boat containing gluten free gravy. We throughly enjoyed our meals on both occasions. I couldn't recommend Ferns Farm enough. This place was a gem in our weekend stay in Bridlington.

Booked one night stay, two singles July 2022. On arrival I was not welcomed or greeted by Shane, either the Manager or the owner, unsure which, he was sat with a friend in the bar area with his feet on the table, seemed unconcerned at my arrival. Once I had advised him I wanted to check in he said, well you better get your money then because we charge on check in - I've loads of hotel experience and have never been asked to pay in advance for a service I've not yet received without viewing the rooms beforehand. I reluctantly agreed offering cash for the 2 rooms, Shane unhappy with cash, he wanted card as he had already set up his machine for this and it was 'inconvenient' to alter it. I'm afraid he was inconvenienced, because I paid in cash. We were strongly advised that we must vacate our rooms before 10am the next day and we were also advised that that the pool was out of commission and had been so all of the preceding week - I had looked forward to a swim - could they not have let us know? The rooms were small but adequate with TV and kettle + en suite shower room where everything was clean and worked.. Not spotless but reasonably clean and comfortable bed.. No wardrobe, not a problem for us, only there one night. On retiring that night we were kept awake until around midnight by the high pitched sounds of dogs in real distress, howling, barking and yelping, the sound seemed to come from the outside grounds. Other guests were slamming their windows shut to try to drown out the noise. The following morning the howling started again and it was coming from inside a door marked Private on the ground floor. I felt sorry for the dogs, they obviously needed letting out, food or something, it was cruel to hear them. Quite a few workmen were staying there with an early start, you could hear their alarms going off around 5am ish. As many have remarked breakfast is at 9am and the door is locked until that time, we left our rooms at 8.45 for a walk round outside and were startled to find we couldn't get back in. We resorted to the fire escape in the end which was permanently open during our stay, not much point having a fire door which is always open. Breakfast was just about adequate. Tinned tomatoes and my friend said sausage was poor. Shane had told us that the breakfast is 'complimentary', I would have been happy to pay for it for a proper breakfast with some fresh items in it i.e fruit etc On leaving we loaded up the car, went back to the rooms at 9.40 to collect last minute things when Shane knocked on my door asking if I had forgotten to leave my room key which I had not, he was concerned that we were still there, I advised him that we would depart before 10am which we did. We received the distinct impression that Shane isn't a happy man doing this job and he certainly gives the impression that you should arrive, pay and leave immediately! Its a shame because this hotel has some lovely downstairs rooms, is in a great main road position with the added benefit of a pool and gym, it could be made into a thriving place, they just need to listen to their customers and treat them with a bit more respect..

What I can say about the current team is that they are going above and beyond to turn things around. We have just stayed here for the weekend and what a wonderful weekend it was. Met at the reception desk by Tony a proper Yorkshire man! We knew we were in for some laughs, he made us all feel welcome especially my 86 year old Grandma and 13 year old daughter. Giving us a quick tour, so we knew exactly where to go and what to do. We were shown to our rooms which were very clean and well equipped! We decided to stay in on our first night and booked our evening meal. Tony gave us a boiled slot to suit what we were doing. The drinks were reasonably priced and the meals were great. Homemade dishes by Christine (fab) nothing was too much!We asked to play on the darts board and Tony showed us how to light it up etc. We asked for dominos and Tony sorted us with them straight away. Great evening was had by us all and a few laughs with Tony- straight John Bull he is! The next morning we had a full English which was lovely. There was cereal, orange, apple juice, tea and coffee, everything you could wish for in a breakfast menu! All included in the price! Tiny said we could place any order we wanted the next morning, so we opted for poached eggs for 3 of us and full English for 1. Again brilliant! We then went for a swim in the leisure centre again included in the price. Followed by another drink and a feed stories from Tony, before we headed out for the day! After a good day out we went back and had a relaxing evening at the hotel and bar! Loved it! Will be returning again soon. Very impressed! Oh and remember there’s always two sides to every story! Tony is a straight talking bloke, who treats people how they treat him! No issues for us.

On arrival myself and my daughter in law asked if we could have lunch. We were given a menu and told to have a seat. On looking at the menu the owner told us the fryer was getting cleaned and would not be ready until 1pm, 2pm at the latest. I asked if we could order a sandwich. He said yes. He then proceeded to go to the kitchen and have an argument, with whom I gather was his wife in the kitchen. Myself and my daughter in law promptly left. It made us feel uncomfortable. I will certainly not go back. There was no one else in the bar waiting to eat or drink.

**Please read**What an experience this place really is!After reading some of the other reviews below going back to last year and can really understand what the other guests meant by Rude and the fact that when they are replying to the reviews they are doing so with an argumentative manner says it all about the kind of people that run this place. We went in for lunch and was greeted by a very rude man (thinking back i can only assume he took a dislike to me and my family) Upon being seating myself and partner went to the bar to purchase drinks we was quite surprised that a very young girl 14/15 was serving the drinks, i apologised and said sorry to be a pain but could have i have some more ice.. to be told "yeah you are a pain" we didn't say anything and just went back to our table. He then came over to take the food order my sister enquired if she could change the prawn sandwich into a baguette as there was other baguettes on the menu.. his response" does it say baguette?" she stated that it was a sandwich his reply" well that's what you will get"thinking back again at that point we should have just left, we noted that the cutlery wasn't wrapped, condiments on tables being passed around, not great given the current COVID-19 situation. The food came.. fresh home cooked food most defiantly a fib!my daughter was presented with 4 chicken nuggets so over cooked the filling was so no longer edible along with some peas and maybe 8 chips, I knew this wouldn't be enough to fill her so politely asked if i could order a portion of chips i was just ignored so again i asked, it looked like he just shock his head as he walked off, he then returned sometime later and instead of addressing me addressed my 12 year old daughter "chips are ordered, you'll get them when they are ready but we are busy severing them people" Enough was enough for me at this point, i told him that his customer service was appalling to get of reply of "great thanks" i then explained that i no longer wanted the chips nor would i be eating my meal as it was not great, he quickly started lifting played from the table and taking them away while shouting at us. We decided that the rest of the family would leave their meals as we felt like he was becoming very hostile, as we was leaving with 4 children in tow aged 4-12 he started shouting at us to leave. The bill as £98.00 this was for 9 meals and 2 rounds of drinks, as all meals had been left and the second round of drinks had not been touched we offered him £60 which we left on the bar.Avoid this place at all costs. I will image that it will be ran into the ground as that man whom I now believe to be the owner is the rudest man i have ever come across and should not work with the public and certainly not in the hospitality sector.I would say that i am looking forward to the response but as i stated at the beginning he has not customer care skills and previous responses clearly show this. It was later that night while at home we realised he also took no contact details for track and trace

Tastefully decorated dining room, separate from the bar which personally is a plus point as it’s always a niggle of mine when you’re sat amongst people just there drinking when you’re eating a meal. I stayed at Ferns Farm Hotel for three night during a work trip.I did not enjoy the stay and neither did my boss. We had booked two single rooms with en-suite. I volunteered to take the one with the smaller bathroom because I am the smaller person. We were told that this room is only used when they are full because of the bathroom. Small is an understatement. It basically looked like a cupboard with a toilet, sink and shower curtain. The sink over-lapped the toilet and, despite being barely 5`5``, I couldn’t use the toilet with the door closed. The only positive thing about this hotel is that there is an associated leisure centre with a pool which guests can use for free. The leisure centre was clean and really nice and the regular morning swimmers were very friendly to me. I was able to shower here and wash my hair as well as swimming before work. It is the only reason I was able to shower as even though I am quite slim, there was no way I could shower in the en-suite.The room, particularly the bathroom, was not very clean. The carpet was dirty, the walls of the `shower` were dirty, there were hairs all over the bathroom, including a pile of beard hairs on the tiny bathroom shelf. I did not feel comfortable walking around without shoes, even to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. The tv remote was sticky. There was a patch of something I don’t want to think much about on the wall. There was a very unpleasant smell in the corridor outside my room – I’m not sure if it was toilet related or gas metre related, but it was persistent. My bed was alarmingly rocky to the point that I was worried the whole thing was going to break. It turned out I was the lucky one, one leg of my boss’s bed was already broken, and that corner was resting on the floor. There is a tv in each room – it is very small, but this is not a problem for me as I don’t watch much and I was at work all day. The wifi was more of an issue. It was slow and unreliable and pretty much unusable if you are trying to work. One night we went out to the cinema just to avoid our room. The other two nights we lingered in the restaurants at another hotel two minutes’ walk down the road – this is where I hope we will stay on our trip back. There is a sign stating that the pub/hotel is under new management. I hope this means that some refurbishment is intended but I very much doubt it. The new managers gave the impression that we were in their way and they would rather we were not there.Breakfast was served 8am to 9am so we had to shift our work day back an hour. I did not have a cooked breakfast as I was put off by the quality of everything else. The cereal selection was very small, there was no fruit or yogurt. Toast came out cold and slowly leading me to believe that they are working with only a two slice toaster. There was a choice of apple or orange juice but it was very cheap quality.I know that the hotel is relatively cheap compared to others in the area (and it was the only one available at short notice during the school holidays) but it is not cheap enough for the standards. If it had cost £20 a night for single room it might have been acceptable but not for almost £50 a night. I will not be returning.

This is quite a large property. We arrived mid afternoon on a Friday. It was very quiet and at first we thought the hotel was closed. On entering the bar we were met by the manageress who showed us to our room. The room was clean fairly functional. We stayed 3 nights and the room wasn’t visited by any staff for cleaning or replenishment. The reason came to light early on our stay when we found out that this large hotel was being run by the manageress and her husband alone. They had a very heavy workload. However they were very good company. Breakfast was just about ok. A real bonus with this hotel is the free use of the spa facilities which was great.I wish the couple all the best but I would hope that they have more staff before long and this would be a requirement for me to stay there in the future.

My partner and I went for Sunday lunch as we are having our wedding there in a couple of months. Keith and Jennie have recently taken over and they are doing a sterling job. Much praise for these two as they are all about customer satisfaction unlike their predecessors. We recently attended a launch and was pleasantly surprised at the buffet which was good quality, along with the carvery today. All home cooked and totally delicious, a big thumbs up for Martin the Chef. Can't wait for our wedding.

We went for the Sunday carvery and at 1.30pm the place was nearly empty so thought this didn't bode well. I had the beef which was impossible to cut or chew. The gravy was like water and thoroughly tasteless, the veg were so/so. To be fair they took the beef away and changed it for pork which was very nice and offered us a sweet or coffee as recompense. It's a shame because this is a lovely big place, nice dining room and bar area and decor, just empty so no atmosphere.

We are always looking for a nice quiet place to eat which offers good service, quality food & drink at a reasonable price and The Ferns Farm Hotel Restaurant hit the spot. We popped in today just to check the place out and the service and food we had was superb. We will definitely go again, very soon, to enjoy one of their themed nights - Curry, Pie, Steak & Wine etc or the Sunday Carvery.... oh and the chef specials looked delicious. Go see for yourself.

This is an excellent family restaurant. We walked in off he street to book a table for approx 2 hours time for a party of 11( 4 adults, 5 children and 2 toddlers). The lady who owns the hotel was very accommodating giving us many options on how she could set up tables. We came back and she had moved them all together so we were able to enjoy a lovely meal together. The food was delicious home made meals and the children particularly enjoyed the speciality World Cup burgers and pizzas. The men and older children stayed to watch the England game and were impressed with the homely atmosphere they experienced. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND!!!

Went for tea with my family , should have noticed the place was virtually empty , went to the bar to order drinks 2 very young inexperienced girls took an age to get the drinks correct , then went to order food and was told to hang on 15 mins as busy ???? After a while we ordered off the menu but every item off the menu was either run out or didn’t have , in the end we just had to order anything just to get some food ...when it arrived there was nothing to accompany it no sauces , condiments and no one came to ask , the burger meals were the cheapest kind of burger you get from a fairground like rubber smothered in mayonaise and lettuce to disguise them ! My homemade chicken soup was 1/2 can of Heinz soup microwaved so it burnt my mouth ...I wanted to run out crying but we had my guests with us I honestly feel embarrassed I had to put them through this horrific place ...whoever is in charge of this place needs to close it down before environmental health go and do it

Whilst visiting friends on a day trip to Bridlington on Friday 4th May 2018, we were invited out to lunch. All we required was a typical bar lunch with drinks. The attraction was that dogs were allowed in the bar area. When the drinks arrived my wife's gin and T was served in a glass that had lipstick on from the previous user. The meal served was disgusting to say the least. Our friends ordered the speciality burger, when they arrived both were cold, my Steak and Ale pie had obviously been frozen prior to its ordeal in the Microwave, being baked without the chance to defrost. The pastry was so hard that it broke like a biscuit, the meat inside, whilst hot was burnt, with no sign of the Ale gravy that one comes to expect from a Steak and Ale pie. In fact the only gravy splodge d on, tasted of granules their next stage could have made wallpaper paste. When our friends complained of the cold burgers they were taken away and reheated on the grill.

I was like oh right well we did, so we will go elsewhere, I mentioned as we turned to leave that we had booked a table, the obnoxious man said, oh if you have booked you can have a roast!! So then we were getting drinks at the bar, the man said hurry up and get your dinner I've got 16 people coming and you won't get anything!!! Why this rude idiot was even working with the public I'll never know, the roast was cold, disgusting, hardly anything left, Yorkshire puddings were that hard I went to cut one! And a chainsaw would of been handy! We eat out a lot and have a big family, and I can honestly say it's the worst place I've been too, staff looked dirty and rude! Avoid at all costs it's vile!

Friend had been for Sunday carvery recently and recommended it, especially lamb shank. Went on Friday on way to Bridlington to book for Sunday and ask if lamb would be available. True to word turned up on Sunday and he had saved us 3. Unusual to see lamb shank on menu at £7.95 cost of carvery. Also on offer were turkey and beef. Found staff very friendly and welcoming. Where to start? We arrived at 11:45 knowing we probably wouldn't be able to eat until 12 but thought we could get a drink and sit down. We tried one door and a gentleman came to the door asking us what we wanted....."lunch" I replied. We were then told we couldn't come in until 12 despite having a toddler with us. We were considering going somewhere else but my daughter was very hungry and it would have been more trouble to try and get her back in the car. When we finally got in; there was a distinct lack of professionalism from the staff and no-one seemed to know what the other was doing. The carvery was out and ready by 12:05 but the chef was too busy taking photos of it to serve straight away so it was 12:20 before we were able to be served. The final straw was the Yorkshire puddings. Myself and my mum plus two other diners couldn't eat them..... they tasted like perfume or soap.....very strange. We shall not be returning.

I have been here many times in the past and can say it's my last with the new owners. We ordered of the main menu as they said the portions were bigger. When they came out they were definitely 100% of the 2 for £10 menu. There was no veg with the pie as advertised( they had been busy and ran out). When I asked if it was off the cheap menu they were adamant it wasn't as it was a lot bigger than that menu, it was small with with not a lot in it. The quality was very average and they didn't care about our complaint , just seem to brush it under the carpet. It's a shame because we liked stopping here. I will not be back while these clowns are in charge!

Easter Sunday a few miles from Bridlington at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.A very quaint stone built hotel on the main road.My family , wife , son , daughter their partners & a couple of grand kids.We had booked a table for 8 .....we were the only customers ; it was like the Marie Celeste. What a give away. We should have turned around and walked. We were served drinks by a polite young man who directed us to a very nice table surrounded by 20 empty tables.15 minutes later the order of lamb and beef roasts was taken. Another 15 minutes and food served clock cold.Complained and asked the situation be rectified.5 minutes later the good returned Luke warm swimming in tepid gravy. We were all very hungry , so ate the cheap thin plastic processed Beef and the cold Lamb Shanks accompanied by under cooked roasties and 2 hour old Yorkies. After complaining , the young man offered a price reduction saying " she's (manager) upstairs, won't come down"After further complaining "she" appeared from nowhere looking like a "Jonny Cash" lookalike who was very abrupt and didn't wish to accept that the meal was just CRAP !!!!DO NOT go there unless you don't like people , are not hungry and like to be talked to like your a 3 year old.

I had been at the local hospital where I had taken my son for some treatment. As he had been starved all day we decided to call into the Ferns Farm Hotel and Restaurant for something to eat, as we were passing on our way home. So glad we chose to call off in here and we were delighted on our findings. The place is larger on the inside then it looks on the outside. A lovely large restaurant which was tastefully decorated and would be ideal for any function required. The bar area was clean and large, with a good selection of drinks. There was a lovely brown labrador asleep near some of the seating area, which woke shortly after our arrival and greeted us with a splendid wagging tail!My son ordered the Gammon and myself just some cheesy chips as I had eaten earlier. The gammon was the best my son said that he had eaten in a long time. A very good size, tasty and juicy. It was served with homemade chips, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, onion rings, peas, a bit of side salad and coleslaw, and of course pineapple and fried egg (he was allowed both much to his delight). Served on a warm plate and well presented. The cheesy chips I had were splendid, homemade with the skins on and an abundance of melted cheese. Our compliments are to be given to the chef. The whole place had a lovely atmosphere too it and the staff were very friendly, jolly and courteous especially the lady called Kate. The overall bill for what we had eaten and drunk was very reasonably priced. We found out that the place had rooms and also a swimming pool and small gym. We look forward to returning here later in the year for maybe a weekend stay and can highly recommend anyone calling off in here even if it is just for a drink.

We had lunch at The Potting Shed with family. This was a return visit, and we think it’s the best garden centre restaurant in the area. Soup was carrot and coriander (delicious, could’ve eaten more!), sandwiches were very fresh, and the haddock and chips were delicious. Restaurant is very clean and well laid out, tables not too close together. I’m sure we’ll be back!
