Sadly, as I love the venue and have previously enjoyed the experience, today's visit 21/8/24 was a disaster. The staff at 1.30 pm were poorly trained to the point of rudeness. A menu was still on display but when I tried to order, I was told that virtually nothing on it was available. The young woman serving had no social skills delivering this news and displayed an obvious "couldn't care less" attitude. Her colleague reacted similarly! Such a shame because on previous visits I have praised the staff for their helpfulness. Final straw today was when the young man came to clear the table, he brushed off the crumbs on to the floor with his hands!!!

This has to be Birmingham's best kept secret, in terms of quiet spaces. I have been before; and I have not kept this secret to myself. The staff are pleasant; and the space inviting. I recently attended an evening with Exodus Crooks, and this opportunity to explore this space made it more for great experience. Thank you 😊

We are regular visitors to the Exchange & find the history of the building really interesting & always look forward to our visits here. Many of the staff members contribute greatly to the enjoyment of our visits & both the food & drink are always something to look forward to. However, at the start of the 2023 Birmingham Festival in July, UCB made the decision that throughout the entirety of the Festival drinks would be served in paper cups & customers would be charged an extra 25p per cup for the privilege & food/cakes would be served out of cardboard boxes. We visited the Exchange on Saturday 29th July & again today the 5th August where once again the same rules were applied. During the worst week of summer weather in recent history when large crowds were expected to attend the Festival & very few people did UCB had no back up plan to revert back to using proper crockery & plates. I do not visit the Exchange to drink out of paper cups & eat off paper plates, I travel a very long way once or sometimes twice a week to enjoy the ambience of the building & enjoy good food & drink often in the company of close friends. I am appalled at the decision made by UCB, customers eating & drinking within the building should be entitled to be offered proper crockery & plates & those taking their food/drink out should be given the paper/cardboard alternatives. Knowing about the appalling weather forecast & doing nothing to reverse the decision goes to show how customers to the Exchange clearly have no value & an Exchange with no customers has no business. Your "Bonkers" decisions & inflexibility say everything & frankly you no longer deserve my custom & what a great shame that is because in people like Bev, Joe & Vina you have some truly wonderful staff + one or 2 who are not! We were in centenary square and I had heard about this place, it's just over the tramway from the library in an old bank and is something to do with Birmingham university. It also has a couple of displays to do with the commonwealth games at the moment. We had two cappuccino's which were excellent, the wife had carrot cake which she really enjoyed and I had the billionaires short bread, which I can only describe as wonderful. The staff are friendly and helpful and it is not overpriced like most of Birmingham.

Was glad to see Molloys open again after such a long time. We went in and could smell the odour of damp and saw the ceiling and walls with mould stains. The floor is dirty and the place hasn't been given a helping hand since it was shut. The place doesn't do food now. We stopped for a quick pint although no idea of a good.pint no head and smelt like cleaning fluid. Such a shame the place wasn't inspected or at least cleaned before opening.

Last week dinner service was terrible, the waitress could hardly speak a word of English and got my order all wrong and then didn’t understand why! She asked me 3 times what wine I would like and still brought the wrong one. Tables are always sticky. Last night service was a bit better but I knocked my fork on the floor when the waiter was right there yet he didn’t pick it up or being me another one. This morning, last weeks waitress is on, table extremely sticky and again she didn’t understand what my order was so goodness knows what I’ll get. Oh had the meal deal but had to pay for the additional chicken on the noodles. That’s unfair I think, who is going to order just a bowl of noodles and no protein?

Sat at a table and one of the chefs bashed into my table spilling my newly bought drink. The manager (walking two seconds behind her) then decided to bring me beer mats because "your table is a bit of a mess. I hope you appreciate the fact I bought these over for you" I then ordered a small breakfast. Whilst eating it I was interrupted by a member of staff sweeping under my table whilst I was eating. She even bashed my foot with the broom whilst I was eating. That food on the floor was there before I arrived. I felt extremely embarrassed by the fact that I was being victimized just because a member of staff had walked into my table and I was blamed for it, and that I could not eat my meal in peace (no where else would interrupt a guest's meal in this way) I have added a photo of one of the pieces of (not my) food, that the memeber of staff was trying to get from under my feet as I was eating.

The main issue, is the service from front of staff on a Friday, as this is the day i generally visit. You can stand waiting to be acknowledged for over a minute while they continue doing what they are doing before they have look up and ask you what you want. Food is generally very good apart from the bacon, in the bee fast which always appears it’s been cooked on a dirty plate After three visits having the same poor service I will not be visiting this establishment again.
