Worst afternoon tea ever. Only ham or egg sandwiches, a few macaroons and the smallest burnt scones ever! Was told the oven was broken so they couldn’t cook the cakes properly. Service was also very slow.

Really disappointed. Looked for Lobby on the hill, excited to be taking wife for afternoon tea. Couldn't find the front door, so I went into holiday Inn next door to ask for directions, only to find I was there. Waitress then proceeded to seat us in the lobby, yes lobby, how ironic, and fetch the afternoon tea. Dumped it on the table, and we never saw her again, even though there were no other customers. Only people we witnessed were people checking in and out of the hotel. Really poor atmosphere, and to top it off, part of the food was scones and cream, but not clotted cream, just some sort of slop, like whipped cream for trifle, who even does that. No bits of salad with sandwiches, overall really disappointed. This is also classed as over 18s why I can not explain.

Don’t bother with the afternoon tea. The pictures are not what was served to us. No garnish and all bought cake fancies . This was an afternoon gift and was a nightmare to make contact as the holiday staff when I phoned had no idea where the Lobby was so no help there. The booking was confirmed hours before we were due to arrive and hey ho part of the Holiday Inn!!! The most soulless place as guess we were accommodated at the last minute , even though booked weeks ahead. To top it all we were denied a doggy bag (company policy) as no food allowed to be taken off the premises. We wrapped the left overs, departed and 3 homeless were very appreciative.

With a bit of work, this could be a great quiet but cheeky cocktail spot. The maple Old Fashioned was saved from being too sweet by my barman asking "strong or sweet" - latter means a bit more booze........too much ice also. Other drinks were good

Absolute disaster , not expecting us despite confirmed reservation, initially refusing the bottomless afternoon tea we had booked , took 30 mins to sort out and was seated in Hotel Lobby , really cold . Tea was eventually served , odd numbers 5 scones between 3 people , sandwiches for 2 people not 3 . After multiple requests got our Prosecco but it was clear they didn't want to serve us as had to keep asking . Small amount of clotted cream asked for more none available as they make it fresh !!!! F&B supervisor apologised for poor service , probably the worse Afternoon tea I have ever had

Really tasty tipsy afternoon tea - a choice of cocktail (served in a teapot!) to accompany our lovely chunky filled cucumber, cheese & pickle and fresh salmon sandwiches, two warm fruit scones each with plenty of clotted cream and jam and a whole selection of cakes to finish off (we had to take these home with us as we were stuffed!). Only downside was that we didn't actually have any tea!

Went for Peaky Blinders afternoon tea and was pleasantly surprised at this little gem in a not very upmarket hotel. The lobby bar is lovely with a great selection of drinks and food. It is bright and stylish. The afternoon tea was very different to delicate sandwiches and cakes as it was themed on the Tv show. There were cheese rolls, pickles and pork pie as well as scones and cake. The food was delicious but we brought home doggy bags as it was extremely plentiful. The staff were very polite and efficient especially Janae who went out of her way to ensure our experience was enjoyed.

The drinks/food was good. Staff very polite. My only problem is the location. We arrived half hour late. What we didn't realise is that this place is attached to the Holiday Inn. We had gone past it three times & was very tiring for my husband because I'm in a wheelchair. Where the notice says "The Lobby" there was scaffolding so couldn't see notice. Needs another notice stating name of place in a better location for all to see. All this messing about looking for the place ruined what should of been a nice experience.

Just spent the afternoon @ the Lobby for a Peaky Blinders afternoon tea couldn't see the relevance or PB theme apart from the fact that we had some pork scratchings. We started with a lovely refreshing cocktail, the food was stale & an odd combination but then we had some nice cake to takeaway the service was very good enjoyed our chat up so the deal was worth it.

This place is great! The food is super and on this occasion we were gathering for a pre-theatre gettogether and had a range of the starters and small plates - the pork tacos, mac bites, wings, prawns (x2), soup and a variety of chips to share tapas style which were excellent (the hot wings were particularly good as were the prawns!).. Also there was a chicken and prosciutto salad and a sausage and mash which were both very well received and all of the portions were very generous - you could go swim in the soup bowl its that big!! We were looked after superbly by the whole team, bar and restaurant who made sure we had everything we needed and in a timely fashion so that we were out in time for the curtain up! We've popped in at other times and its always a great drop in place with lots of comfortable zones to relax in and always with friendly service! All we need now are the numbers to come up from the resident mystic on the team!! This time next week :-)

I have been here a couple of times for eats and drinks in the past and have been mightily impressed with the re-styled bar/restaurant - comfortable and with great facilities - USB chargers, papers and tele's etc... But the outstanding and best thing about the place is the menu for both value and quality! I first had the ploughmans (which is enough for his lunch and dinner!) which was incredible value! And this weekend we (me and MCF) went pre-Ceri Dupree for late lunch/early dinner and to my disappointment the ploughmans was off (and I had been dreaming of it since my last visit!)... though this turned out to be in our favour as we went for the antipasti and a Tex Mex sharing board and whilst I expected good things my companion was amazed at what came out! In fact we were both a little concerned that we would be eating into the first half of the show! These have to be 2 of the best sharing boards that I have eaten from - not only in their generous portions but the quality too - excellent! And with well priced drinks and service that was attentive and friendly throughout I can highly recommend this place for eats and drinks in this part of town - in fact I shall be back this Thursday for another pre-theatre bite (and hopefully a ploughmans but no matter - I am pretty sure whatever we pick it'll be good!).. There are certainly no Hill Street Blues here!! (see what I did there!)...

Popped in here for a quick lunch whilst making our way through the city in the rain. Rather sterile looking environment but we decided to stay put because of the weather. Seating options for dining are also quite limited but as we were the only ones there not a problem. Food choice was not bad and the quality of our BLT and chips were actually very good. Friendly enough service – just a shame it lacked any atmosphere or dining tables.

Staying at the HI Birmingham it’s tempting to just go downstairs but probably don’t. The Lobby is a strange set up over a restaurant, hallway and bar area all serving the same food by the same staff. This creates the first issue; minimal staff running around trying to cover loads of tables they can’t see. I had a G&T in a badly cracked glass. The server was very apologetic and took it away. It was replaced by simply pouring the remaining drink into another glass! I expected it to be replaced - as in the whole drink in case of glass in the drink, but no. I had an over cooked burger and a tasteless cheesecake. Didn’t enjoy the experience to be honest. I’ll go out next time; so much choice locally of course.

Dine All day - just don't do it here, sub standard, tasteless, prawns from swamp. Nice place, great music, family staff( actually overly friendly ) I really don't need to hear what the young lady behind the bar was doing with her boy friend the night before. Barman was pleasant and polite. Such a shame as I believe with the right manager and NEW CHEF, the place could actually be an amazing space. Such a wasted opportunity. Sorry guys just not good enough.

This place charged us nearly £13 for a glass of very poor wine and a pint of lager. It has no draught British beers and found afterwards we were one pound short in our change. The barmaid looked as though she had just been fired and the only 'atmosphere' was provided by a night-light type candle in a jar on each table. Avoid this place unless you are very rich, do not mind being robbed and are not very choosey.

Disappointing. Was expecting a nice restaurant but it's just a few tables in the Holiday Inn hotel lobby, right next to the reception desk, internet cafe, and rear public entrance to the hotel which meant cold air blasting at us every time hotel guests came in and out. We'd booked a table but there was no one to greet us when we arrived. We decided to eat elsewhere in the end. The hotel bar in the lobby looks great though! I'd recommend going there for drinks as it's stylish and relaxed.

A very enjoyable meal served in nicely furnished, clean but cosy surroundings. An inviting atmosphere, which was just the 'right level' of busy when we were there. Hot food on hot plates, with noticeably better vegetarian options than the norm. It was just what we wanted. Service from Katelyn was warm and professional, and we will certainly return when we're in the area again.

Sat at a table and one of the chefs bashed into my table spilling my newly bought drink. The manager (walking two seconds behind her) then decided to bring me beer mats because "your table is a bit of a mess. I hope you appreciate the fact I bought these over for you" I then ordered a small breakfast. Whilst eating it I was interrupted by a member of staff sweeping under my table whilst I was eating. She even bashed my foot with the broom whilst I was eating. That food on the floor was there before I arrived. I felt extremely embarrassed by the fact that I was being victimized just because a member of staff had walked into my table and I was blamed for it, and that I could not eat my meal in peace (no where else would interrupt a guest's meal in this way) I have added a photo of one of the pieces of (not my) food, that the memeber of staff was trying to get from under my feet as I was eating.

Last week dinner service was terrible, the waitress could hardly speak a word of English and got my order all wrong and then didn’t understand why! She asked me 3 times what wine I would like and still brought the wrong one. Tables are always sticky. Last night service was a bit better but I knocked my fork on the floor when the waiter was right there yet he didn’t pick it up or being me another one. This morning, last weeks waitress is on, table extremely sticky and again she didn’t understand what my order was so goodness knows what I’ll get. Oh had the meal deal but had to pay for the additional chicken on the noodles. That’s unfair I think, who is going to order just a bowl of noodles and no protein?

Was glad to see Molloys open again after such a long time. We went in and could smell the odour of damp and saw the ceiling and walls with mould stains. The floor is dirty and the place hasn't been given a helping hand since it was shut. The place doesn't do food now. We stopped for a quick pint although no idea of a good.pint no head and smelt like cleaning fluid. Such a shame the place wasn't inspected or at least cleaned before opening.
