Had a lovely meal during Norfolk Restaurant Week. The food was excellent and the service very good. A really nice atmosphere in the restaurant too.

We were spending the weekend with friends and staying at the hotel. All front of house staff were helpful, friendly and polite. However, we had booked dinner for 18 people and had all preordered our meals, but it was over an hour before the starters arrived and some of the main courses were less than satisfactory. Very disappointed

We booked a dinner/bed & breakfast break and stayed in a lovely room in the Lawns. Dinner was superb. The chowder was delicious and I had a rump steak that was cooked to perfection. Lovely drinks and a very nice Negroni! Breakfast was very good indeed - husband had full English and I had the eggs benedict which were lovely.

Service and food poor…. We (4 adults and 3 dogs) popped in for a lunch. Staff found a a table so all looked promising…. Then it took ages to get drinks, they took order from next table before ours even though that table arrived 15 mins after us! I ordered a steak. Cooked medium. It arrived rare and we so tough I could have used it to put a sole on my boots! Chips were good as was the corn on the cob but when you are charged near £30 for a steak you do want it cooked as ordered and not tough…Wife supreme chicken she says was ok.. two other burgers were also tough and less than average. They then added a 10% service charge. No offer to remove it just took the money. We are not the kind to make a fuss while there but with reviews we can now have a voice…. We won’t return and suggest others avoid. I am sure there are better places to eat in holt.

The service was very slow waited for over half hour for nibbles only arrived after asking and came with starter although supposed to be separate. Then waited for over an hour for main when it arrived was dry and overcooked. Asked if everything was ok I said disappointed with slow service, waitress not bothered and said they had had a lot of walkins but we had pre-booked. Then asked for bill and waited so long could have walked out but went to till to pay! Don't waste your money!

Needs a revamp. Like stepping into the 70s. The room was supposed to be a double at £130 for the night. The window was ‘vibrating’ all night and draughty. No heating and it was cold. There was a plug in heater that didn’t work. The bed was a 3/4 bed .No wardrobe and just 2 coat hangers on a wire thing on the wall! Wallpaper all knobbly (the type you painted over in the 70s?) The shower was the size of a phone box and the bathroom smelt badly like drains. Nobody at the reception desk to check in and was made to feel like an inconvenience as the dining room was busy. Didn’t ask if we needed any assistance with luggage up loads of stairs. Was given a leaky silver small flask with milk. 2 teabags only in the room! Nobody asked if we enjoyed our stay even . Breakfast was serve yourself. Very disappointed had just had 10 days travelling around Norfolk all was lovely…… but guess where we will never return to?

Food was awful and overpriced. Fish was full of bones and batter was soggy. My wife’s trout salad was just an overcooked dry fillet over some chopped tomatoes and beetroot. We did offer feedback to the waitress but only response we got was that the chef tries not to leave bones in the fish. Not a lot of restaurant choices in Holt, so my guess is that they get the tourist business anyway so really don’t care.

We stayed for two nights celebrating husbands 60th birthday...We had a lovely stay in a cosy double room. Clean and bright room with everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious and staff so helpful. Holt itself is a lovely town with a variety of places to eat and shop. We enjoyed a trip to Horsey to see the seals and fish and chips in Cromer so cannot comment of food in town. We had a party arrange with family one evening and the staff couldn't do more for us - The manager 'Pete' was super helpful and made our stay extra special. We will look forward to a return trip.

We were looking forward to another lovely meal and we were very disappointed. We booked in advance at which point Pork was on the menu, on arrival it was beef or chicken. It was nice but room for improvement in attention to detail. In particular, in the bathroom the bath gel was locked in a dispenser you could only use at shower height. It was nigh on impossible to reach it from the bath. No soap or separate bubble bath supplied. And the shower was so scaled up it was really sore to use as the water was forced Ute if the few remaining unblocked holes in the head. And the bedside lamps were unplugged, so it involved scrabbling around in the floor to find the end of the lead and the socket. Surely that can be checked when room is made up? And the knob of the light switch on one side of the bed was missing. Room 24. But breakfast was good!

No parking was available at 5 or 7 pm at the hotel as well as their sister hotel. After 40 mins trying to park, reversing extremely narrow streets and calling head office, we parked in a public car park. No understanding of inconvenience from the staff, in fact, they offered to check after 9 pm if their car park is free lol ( after drinks and dinner in their restaurant). Food was mediocre vs last time we visited: tiny fish and chips ( might as well been sea bass, it was that thin…). Breakfast went downhill vs last time - self service now with a queue to a toaster and inedible sausages my son refused to eat. A year ago we were able to have eggs Benedict and homemade pancakes- what happened??? I assume cost savings, which is a real disappointment and we won’t be coming again. For £275 a night for two adults and 1 child, the service and food aren’t acceptable quality

Part of the Chestnut Group and located on Holt high street, this dog friendly pub/restaurant is a great place to stop for a drink. The staff made us feel particularly welcome and were happy to see our four legged friend. They even brought across a water bowl for the dog. Clearly popular, several of the patrons had dogs either them. The staff were wonderful and the whole place had a warm and relaxed feel. We returned in the evening (Wednesday night) when they hosted a Thai evening, which ran along side the standard menu. I’m a great fan of Thai food and this was very good. Having booked a table for 4 of us at 1pm we were initially disappointed to have to ask at 1.45 when we might be getting our meals. Off went the person and returned several minutes later to say our food was coming now . 5 minutes later food arrived. Normally this pub/ restaurant does excellent food. Not today. My steak had little taste, was just about warm and with no steak knife provided was not that easy to cut. The fries were excellent and the salad adequate. Two of my friends had fish and chips, again not that warm and the chips were undercooked. The chicken dish was acceptable despite being served in a bowl. Cost with a bottle of wine and one of sparkling water over £130. Not worth it. I hope this is a one off aberration as it has always been so good previously. We may give them a secondment chance

We came as a family, seven adults and a small child. Sadly our experience was not good. The food took a long while and we had asked for our small child’s pasta to be served as quickly as possible. He was served last! I fully understood that they were busy but our request was not heeded. The guy that took our order was asked a question about a dish but didn’t really know what it was. The real problem was that many of the staff appeared to be new to the restaurant and their lack of training really showed. My meal was stone cold and I had to request another. This was done without a problem and when it arrived was very good. Three of our party had ordered haddock and all three had cold mushy peas and they had to be reheated. It was a shame as when the food arrived it was good.

A complete and utter disappointment. My parents are in Holt this evening and just told me that for the second time in the space of a few months they have left the restaurant without their meal. My parents, husband and I went for a meal in December 2023 (after drinking in the bar every night for almost a week and spending a fortune) which can only be described as poor. We waited over an hour for food, after having waited for a starter prior to that. Staff were really helpful at the time but it was SUCH a disappointment since, as a family, we have visited Holt multiple times a year for 50+ years. Since the pub has been taken over, it has really gone down hill. Like other reviews state, you can’t even go in and sit down for a drink because the tables are fully booked out for meals. We have been told this is beyond the pub’s control but something needs to change. I would suggest saving the tables in the foyer for drinkers only and start reducing covers in the restaurant so that customers can be looked after NOT overlooked. Having given you a second chance, and hearing that my parents have once again left disappointed, needless to say we will 100% not be returning. Such a disappointment for a lovely town such as Holt.

We will be returning as the overall experience was more than acceptable thanks to the excellent attention of the hotel's new maitre d'hotel and our excellent Norfolk waitress (who has been working here for very many years, we gather). Thank goodness for those two professionals. Food-wise, the evening was a bit of a curate's egg, being good but only in parts. Such potential lies here that the meal should have been a true 5* delight; but it wasn't, hence the, perhaps a touch mean, 3*. Thankfully those two members of staff saved the evening in a timely way and all was well. - order for water forgotten; - chips and pepper sauce rendered nigh on inedible by excessive salt (and I like salt!); - dessert served far too late messed up the end of the meal; - lovely coffee but served completely out of sync with the slow dessert; - the dessert was the weak spot, too, thanks to an unkempt heap of dry powdered ginger biscuit atop a thin layer of brûlée, swamping it; We were left feeling that for the high-ish cost of our two meals, the right hand here didn't seem to care too much what the left hand was doing, and at a restaurant that surely has the potential to shine like a star in the firmament. Thankfully, the evening was just-about rescued by two top staff and timeliness of changing the chips and sauce. If you are staying in this uniquely attractive town, despite this less-than-perfect occasion, we would urge you to give The Feathers a try. We think on another occasion it really could shine as the many other top reviews suggest.

We ate here last Sunday Lunchtime as a large family group with a baby and toddler, and have to say what an amazing experience we had. We asked and was given a large table out of the way so that we had plenty of space to move around. The staff were excellent, very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. even with a few extra requirements they we fantastic and very friendly, especially as the toddler was moving around and dropping various toys. The attention to detail was apparent and appreciated. Things such as bringing out the child's drink and food first to avoid any tantrums and offering water for the table immediately and topping it up regularly. The place itself was very comfortable and lovely. so 10 out of 10 for ambience and service. as for the food, I`m glad to say it lived up to the service standards. The menu was good and plenty to choose from including the childrens options. The food was very good and plenty of it. There were a lot of empty plates. Lovely little break. The feathers is full of character, stayed in room 2 which overlooked the high street, which was not a problem as it’s very quiet at night. Uneven floors and squeaky boards, lovely high ceilings, spacious room, it was just lovely and quaint...

Haven’t had a dining experience as lame as this for a long time. We gave feedback before leaving but we should have left before eating. Most kitchens can produce a decent Sunday roast but The Feathers managed to buck that trend. When the roast beef...

We came in for Lunch today and want to start off by saying that the location is idyllic, the food is delicious and most of the staff are wonderful. However, our meal was completely bulldozed by one member of staff (don’t know her name, elderly, black hair, heavy makeup). Not only would she not leave us alone for the duration of our meal which was very off putting, she proceeded to try to force feed me mushy peas using a dirty spoon off of the floor. At the end of our meal we were sitting and enjoying our drinks when she then took them from our table, we were considering getting coffees but felt very pressured to leave after such disastrous service. We are honestly embarrassed for you at No 1, that kind of behaviour was not very becoming at all…. What would have been the perfect meal out ended up being a complete nightmare.

Stayed for one night, all the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, clean , light and comfortable with an excellent bathroom. Breakfast was very good with an excellent choice of freshly cooked food, cereals, pastries and fruit. Will definitely return and would certainly recommend staying here

Sadly the food didn’t match the lovely welcoming service. Sunday lunch was expensive - £20 for a trio of roasts. The veg was odd - leeks and carrot with some very hard brocolli. Overcooked roast potatoes and parsnips. Potential to be a nice Sunday lunch but needs a fair bit of work. £20 is a lot for a toast but this place really cannot justify the price, sorry 😔

Over priced! £11.95 for toasted sandwich that came with small side salad, small pot shop bought coleslaw and handful chips. Had bacon and brie filling with so much cranberry it tasted more like jam sandwich. With a coffee each bill came to £33. Most costly lunch I've had for ages. Won't be rushing back.

Down in Worstead on wee business trip, asked about possibility of lunch nearby and were directed to the White Lady. It was around 14:30 on a Sunday afternoon so expectations weren't too high (would have settled for a sandwich...). Friendly welcome, assured food would be no problem and we're given 3 menus! We're invited to sit anywhere we chose so opted for window seat in dining area to rear. We both opted for Sunday roast topside. Absolutely fantastic. Beef cooked to perfection, awesome roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud, came with glazed chantenay carrots, buttered green beans and zingy red cabbage, jug of lush gravy and topped of with dish of unctuous Cauliflower and cheese (each by the way). Thinking about making the 3 hour drive again just to have that experience again.
