Cheese balls were just a oily mess. My chicken burger was not good bun was burnt and the chicken it's self I couldn't eat looked a but pink to me. My partner had the peanutbutter one 2 patties one burnt the other raw. Even the fries tasted dirty. A lot of good left no one asked why. Would not be back.

Luke was a lovely and lively server making sure we were all okay and everything was good with our food and drinks , my burger was delicious will defo be coming back again !!

Missing an item from the order.

Quantity is pathetic. Ordered dirty tots which were supposed to be loaded with toppings but they severly lacked these toppings. Same with the burger. I'm done being charged so much for subpar food. You don't get your money's worth. Things need to change and I won't be ordering from there until.

The beef burgers and chips were amazing but apart from that everything else was not nice . The chicken burger had barely any flavour and the onion rings were actually horrific. We also asked for another coke and it took them so long to bring it they gave it to us as we were paying the bill. Wouldn’t go again

2 years ago was amazing,but sadly, it changed Food over price and received cold after mentioned waitress attitude just horrible. I would not recommend anyone to go there! Don't waste your and your money there Sadly, it ended one of the worst place in Cardiff Don't even deserve a one star

First time in a Fat Hippo . Service was personal and efficient . The Born Slippy burger was superb , recommended ! Tried some of my partners buttermilk fried chicken , succulent and nicely seasoned .Get some Fat Hippo sauce with your chips you won’t regret it . We will be back. Tim and Maria

This is a brilliant space, with superb staff, including Luke who had energy for days and made some good recommendations. But it was let down by the food which was all a little bland, relying on spice to bring any real flavour. Even being able to order Iron Bru by the pint didn't really salvage it. Sadly I don't think it will be a place we would choose to visit again.

The burgers and chips were excellent but the frickles were not great. Quite soggy. Drinks selection was poor. One beer on draught and overpriced small cans. Service was terrible. We waited over 45 mins for our food and the place wasn't particularly busy. Closed upstairs and probably 33% capacity downstairs. Smashed burgers don't take long to cook so no reason to wait that long. Wait staff didn't ask if we wanted more drinks.

Irn Bru on tap is enough for 5 stars alone but the food was filling, the dessert was even better and the service was exceptional from Molly.

I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it was a letdown. We waited an unbelievable one hour and a half for our food, only to end up asking for it to go because we were about to miss our train. The delay completely ruined our plans, and it was incredibly frustrating While the manager did offer to cover the bill (which was the least they could do), the whole situation was poorly handled. No updates or apologies were given until we pushed them for an explanation. It’s a shame, because I was looking forward to trying the food, but the service left a sour taste in my mouth. I won’t be coming back

Food came after an hour. Multiple tables got their food before ours which lead us to complain. Foods a bit oily too. Would I go again? Probably not.

We called the restaurant twice and they said the food had been waiting as the driver had not turned up despite the app saying they had turned up 40 minutes before. The food was subsequently cold when it turned up. Poor service from just eat.

Fat Hippo in Cardiff City Centre offers a great burger experience with a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant was clean, the staff friendly, and the menus had plenty of tempting options. For starters, we loved the Frickles (fried pickles) paired with their amazing house sauce. For mains, we tried the American, PB+JJ, and Hot Honey chicken burgers—all delicious! We upgraded our fries to loaded, with purple slaw and onion rings on the side. The purple slaw was light and refreshing. Drinks were also spot-on, from the Love Me Blender milkshake to Pepsi Max and pickleback shots. The only downside was the slow service—it took 45 minutes to place our order. I’d highly recommend booking in advance, as it got busy fast on a Friday night. Overall, a fantastic spot for burger lovers!

Can’t give a honest review as I was not granted the opportunity to try…. I walked In, not greeted by a member of staff. Walked to the bar. And was told I could sit anymore I liked. So I did… I took the corner table. It had been used and required cleaning which did not bother me. The server came over and said you’ll have to give me a minuet, I said no worries it’s fine. He said no I need to minuets. I asked if he wanted me to leave the table and he said yes… So I left the restaurant! Horrific and rude customer service. Shame as the previous reviews looked pretty good!

Chicken burger went in the bin the chicken was slimy and looked undercooked. The chips were in an open container so they were cold by the time I got them. I enjoyed the wings but I won’t be ordering again.

DELIVEROO ORDER. Ordered burgers off the exclusive “delivery only” menu. Food quality was extremely poor - I had buttermilk chicken which was very fatty, so much so that I didn’t end up eating the chicken. I was left with eating a brioche bun which was slathered in BBQ sauce. There was a tiny amount of cheese and other stuff in the burger. Really disappointed and definitely won’t be ordering from here again. The chips were also seasoned with something when they shouldn’t have been.

Billie was absolutely fantastic I was choking on my burger and she performed a heimlich maneuver and saved my life.

Fat Hippo Review I recently visited Fat Hippo and had an incredible experience from start to finish. Let’s start with the Hot Honey Buffalo Wings—they were hands down some of the best wings I’ve ever had. The perfect balance of heat from the buffalo sauce combined with the subtle sweetness of the honey made them absolutely addictive. Pairing them with the creamy, tangy blue cheese ranch took it up another notch. Each bite had that satisfying crunch and tender, juicy chicken inside. As for the main event—the burger—Fat Hippo absolutely nailed it. The patty was cooked to perfection: juicy, flavorful, and stacked with toppings that were fresh and complemented each other well. The bun was soft but sturdy enough to hold everything together, which I always appreciate in a good burger. On top of the great food, the service and atmosphere was top-notch. The playlist and music playing was all hreat and created a great ambience. Marcy, our server, was a gem! She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was just right throughout our meal. She had great recommendations, and you could tell she genuinely cared about the customer experience. All in all, Fat Hippo exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to go back for another round of wings, burgers, and that awesome service. Highly recommend!
