Fat Hippo Cardiff in Cardiff

Fantastic vegan burgers and great service. We went there a couple of times during our four day stay in Cardiff. Well worth it.

Didn’t read the reviews before coming but the overall review scores are accurate. I’ve eaten at most burger joints that there is as I love a good burger. This place is unfortunately average and that’s being generous. Staff were friendly it has to be said but like mentioned in previous reviews not very attentive, it wasn’t busy and there were several waiting staff just chatting etc. Maybe I just the chef on an off day but there’s no reason to return with several far better joints around.

Food was late, very cold and tasteless. Burgers were also stodgy and mostly tasted of beige. Burgers were also overpriced, definitely ‘quantity over quality’ in terms of portions.

Amazing! Best place to eat in Cardiff, could not recommend more. Food was cooked perfectly and drinks were fabulous! My go to burger restaurant

En realidad no puedo comentar sobre la comida ya que no llegamos tan lejos como para recibirla. Llegamos para una reserva a las 6 pm pensando que tendríamos mucho tiempo antes de un espectáculo en la arena a las 7 . 30 . a las 7 . 05 comida aún no había llegado fueron informados, su pedido es el próximo ticket. Basado en la velocidad del servicio a nuestro alrededor, tuvimos que salir antes de que la comida incluso llegó una hora después de ordenar. Después de haber ahorrado el apetito por las hamburguesas, se agravó la decepción al tener hambre durante el espectáculo. Se podía decir que otras personas se enfrentaban a tiempos de espera similares, pero habrían apreciado los avisos. No se necesita mucho para un “lo siento, aprecio que haya reservado una mesa, pero estamos frente a una hora de espera en este momento”... parecía que estaban batiendo las opciones para llevar, aunque tal vez solo pedir comida para llevar y probablemente será más rápido.

Very disgusting behaviour from the people who works there and they also request people on telegram to ask for the fake reviews to get their restaurant and they also tell you to send the screenshot but when u ask them about the money they will block you which I think is very cheap and disgusting behaviour from them.

Fat Hippo Cardiff is an absolute gem for burger lovers! The burgers are juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The variety of toppings and sides, especially the loaded fries, are amazing. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. If you’re in Cardiff and craving a great burger, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Burgers were all great, including the vegan option. Service was friendly and fast. Great option after the rugby match

Beautiful place to eat. Very friendly and a very happy atmosphere and the food is exceptional. I am a big chicken fan. The chicken cooked and served here is probably the best place I have ate from. What you guys waiting for , join in and enjoy great food.

It was a great experience i ordered classic America burger with a side of onion rings, the service was great and it didn’t take more than 10 mins to come, the place is affordable and loved the staff and the atmosphere 10/10.

First visit to Fat Hippo for a 16th birthday lunch. Everyone in our group loved it. We ordered chicken, beef and vegan burgers, fries and coleslaw, beer, wine and shakes - everything was delish. Servings were huge and even the teens were stuffed. Please consider offering a single patty option on weekends to prevent waste! Unusually, service isn't included on the bill and we nearly missed this - the wait staff were great so don't forget to tip them. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

We got the buffalo chicken fingers which were DIVINE! Best food we’ve had in wales so far! Staff was extremely friendly and everything was delicious.

Wow! Just wow! Went here for the first time and I've recently had to go dairy free and going to a burger place and eating vegan food it's usually same old! Just WOW! This place was amazing! Cocktails were cute and yummy! Could tell they were fresh and not artificial. The food was absolutely gorgeous! The rest of my party were eating meat and they absolutely loved their meals too! Would highly recommend! Staff were beautiful! Service was quick and cooked to perfection! Would highly recommend.

Food was perfect. We were welcomed and seated by ali who was brilliant and made us feel welcomed.

Sat outside, was a great location to watch the world go by. Service was friendly and didn't have to wait long. The Burger was amazing, very tasty and filling. The seasoned hand cut fries were a bit spicy, (I don't really eat spicy things) I also tried the Hot Honey Buffalo dip, that had a really strong spicy hit, didn't have to much of that. For two of us, 2 Americian burgers, fries & soda £35. Will definitely go back.

Easily the greasiest place I've ever eaten and ive been to Greece. All the food deep fried to oblivion. Slippery floor upstairs probably from all the grease fumes pumping out of the kitchen. Way over priced for a few bugers

Our server Hannah was lovely, polite and served with a smile. The food was tasty but (I don't think I've ever said this) I needed a smaller portion! I would of loved a dessert but there was no room.

Delivery is a waste of time. Received Stone Cold 2hrs after ordering. Restaurant phone number goes to answerphone, so couldn't cancel or seek update. Zero Comms from rider or restaurant, which was really poor. Turns out the rider had bike issues, so our food was in transit for over an hour. £35 for burgers delivered stone cold due to delivery failure is poor. Refused refund as I'd given code to rider to check the food. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

First time visiting here for a special occasion, Marley was our server and was very accommodating and made our visit special. Food was lovely and hot, and challenging to finish 🤣. Will definitely be back.

Great service, Good food would recommend

Got seated pretty quickly but it took 30 minutes for a server to come by and take our order. Got our food after an hour of waiting, my partners food was great but mine was not. We both had chicken sandwiches but mine tasted like grease and nothing else. Our server never checked on us so we couldn't get additional drinks and we had to find someone to pay our bill so we could leave. Overall was a mixed experience and I don't think we'll be back.

There seemed to be mushrooms on my burger which weren’t listed in the menu and made what was a fairly nice burger very disappointing. Waited over an hour as well so the food was cold. For a burger costing £18 this was not worth the money unfortunately.

Visited earlier this week whilst visiting Cardiff for an event. We were served by Marcy who was incredibly personable and made our whole experience a complete joy. Would recommend over and over! And if you’re heading there ask for Marcy if she’s working!!

Food was so good and tasty! We were served by Marcy today and she was an amazing server and so lovely, Ottilie loved chatting away to her.

Had a great time, food was really good as well as a good variety of drinks. Our server Marcy was really nice and always had a smile. She's very persuasive with sauces and getting on a train to Bristol. One thing I would change is the volume of the blinking bell.

The Fat Hippo looked really promising from photos and other reviews on here, however the reality was disappointing. Service was relatively slow, drink choice was incredibly limited and the food was mediocre at best. A real shame. Only redeeming factor was the price, it is very reasonably priced for a restaurant in central Cardiff. Staff were friendly too.

We were so looking forward to this as people had raved about it. Unfortunately it was awful, we waited ages for the shakes & when they turned up they were missing all the toppings. Mine was actually spilled all down the side of the glass too. The food, well that took ages to arrive & was disappointing to say the least. Overcooked dry burgers, again mine was missing the chilli jam. Frickles didn’t arrive, we had to ask for them. When they did come they were very greasy. The nicest part of my meal was the slaw. We won’t be back so disappointed & it was overpriced. The staff were lovely but you could see they were stressed.

Marcy gave great service. Place is awesome for atmosphere, decent food.
