Shake Shack in Cardiff

I've had it a few times. They're best branch is in JFK airport in New York funnily enough. The cardiff branch can be hit and miss. When it's good it's pretty darn good, but sometimes your left wondering where the flavours disappeared to.

Seriously? The worst vegetarian 'burger' I ever had. A deep fried mushroom?? I didn't even take one bite. Pathetic. Bye bye 8,40 GBP

Been here a few times and I'm never disappointed. Brought the whole family in yesterday and everyone loved it. Food was perfect and Shake Shack has the friendliest and most helpful staff. Can't wait to come back again!

I'll start by saying that if you've been to a Shake Shack in the US and hope to find the same thing here, stay away. They have crinke-cut chips nad and that's about where the similarities end. I did not enjoy my meal here. I paid £16.50 for a double burger with fries, which is approaching Five Guys territory. The fries were basic oven fries, they don't have the cajun spice that you can find in the US, and the portion was on the small side. The burger was downright bad: it wasn't a properly cooked smash burger and had very little crust, if any. It was very underseasoned and tasted mostly like boiled meat, like when you make a burger at home and your pan isn't hot enough. The rest of the toppings, however, were *too* salty, so the result was a bite of bland meat with a topping of side. I added bacon and pickles to my burger, both of which were very badly cooked: the bacon was thick and not crispy, and the pickly was chunky, way too salty, and only covering about 25% of the burger surface area. I was thoroughly disappointed, especially for the price I paid. I've been to specialty burger restaurants that were cheaper and much, much better, so there's absolutely nothing to see here.

Had a delivery fast fair play no excuse for disgusting food hot dog taste like irs been sat out for days sent a single burger instead of double 2 cans of coke missing ? To think we wasted £65 For such a small meal is an absolute joke! 😡 The 4* is for our delivery driver! Tried to phone the place x3 times absolotely no good enough now have my husband vomiting in the other room rediculous 😡

Shake Shack does really great burgers, second to Five Guys as my favourite!

Food and shakes was excellent. Table clean and received quite quickly. Screens for pick up where available to see from all tables.

A good place to eat located on the first floor of St David's 2. Order at the till and not at the pads... it's less confusing. The food is a tad on the expensive side but it was well cooked and hot. I had the chicken bites. No steps to access this restaurant so those who have mobility challenges will find it easy to enter.

The food is okay, not the best and not the worst, only decent if you have the buy one get one free offer as student of Uni days.

I’m not normally a huge fan of burgers, but this was something else!!! Tasty & delicious, really hit the spot. Waaay better than the other run of the mill fast food restaurants. The staff, although busy, were friendly and attentive. I can’t knock it - does what it says on the tin, but does it better.

Shake shack exceeded my expectations! I've always walked past but never gone in so I finally went with my boyfriend and I was really impressed. We ordered a shackmeister burger and a chicken shack, both were really tasty especially the herb mayo! We will defo be going back next time we are in town!

Today my partner and I decided to get a Shakeshack for our dinner! Since going non dairy due to intolerance I have had to eat mostly vegan meals in case. When I got to the till a lovely girl called Precious served us and was so understanding and considerate towards my request of having a meat burger with vegan cheese. She was super attentive and so smiley and happy, she definitely went the extra mile for me and I couldn’t be more grateful. The food was so delicious as always and tasted even better knowing that my dietary requirements had been listened too! I rarely write reviews but Precious was so amazing and friendly, thank you so much!

We love the food and the service! We are regulars in Shake Shack and are sad to see the loss of our favourite drink the root beer, not sure if it’s temporary or a permanent change but we’d love to see it back if possible. Thanks to Kelsey also for always being a smiley smiley face and nice!

Don't bother! If you like spending £20+ on an average burger and a tiny portion of Tesco crinkle cut chips then crack on! I will definitely not be coming back in a hurry, absolute waste of money.

Terrible cold fries and our burgers were not cooked the beef was pink, we witnessed other people returning there food for the same reasons. We never made a fuss due to being with our Grandchildren but will never eat there again, very expensive to would definitely recommend people to avoid.

Food and place were really good. Staff really friendly. Price however was disgusting and no meal deal is rubbish. Over £20 for a burger and chips with a ice cream in a fast food outlet is beyond money grabbing.

Pretty bog standard burger place. No five guys or anything exciting. Chips were OK and slightly soggy. Partner liked it though, I personally wouldn't want to go again on purpose.

Very worth the price as you get student discounts, ice cream is delicious and I always leave with a happy stomach. 5 stars

I went here on the 3rd of feb and I had a burger and it gave me food poisoning I still haven’t recovered I didn’t eat for the first week after it happened the other day I had to go to the hospital to get an iv and I’m still not eating or drinking properly

Not cheap but tasty burgers and cheese fries. Nice treat instead of McDonald’s or Burger King

Very delicious food as usual. This time I decided to get a dessert - Welsh cake jam ice cream. It has a nutty taste but doesn’t contain any nuts, it’s just the Welsh cake dipped in the ice cream.

Food was okay, had a cheeseburger with fries and a drink. Wasn't a massive fan of the burger being in a brioche bun. Fries were great and tasty, food came quickly however waiting to order took a very long time.

Just wanted to get a milkshake to take out but the terminal presented a screen asking for all sorts of information I'd rather not give out to random businesses. Why couldn't I but a shake anonymously?

Okay. Bit grubby. Quite expensive for what it is. Would be nice to have some hot drinks on the menu

Called here for a bite to eat after a stroll around Winter Wonderland. We called as closing time approached and didn't know what to expect but was surprised with the standard and quality of burger from a fast food chain. A little on the pricey side however the burger and fries were cooked nicely and tasted lovely.

I paid £9 for a raw burger 😁 so many midgie flies and they gave me a fresh burger but it was dripping in grease and I feel sick from the raw burger so. I don't recommend overpriced raw food

Such cool location with a great atmosphere and food. I would personally recommend the shakes, super thick and creamy.

Makes Five Guys seem reasonably priced Highs And Lows; Highs; -The bun was good -the chicken seemed good quality -decent fries (crunchy yet fluffy) The Lows; -The ‘sweet chilli sauce’ and ‘cheese’ sauce available on fries and burgers both looked and tasted pretty gross -if you want to get a drink with your meal be prepared to take out a second mortgage

I had lunch here with my daughter after hearing how good the burgers and shakes were. There were amazing! Definitely going back!

Food is absolutely amazing, and great quality. My favourite is their hotdog, although the frozen custard will have you wanting to come back. Gotta try the smoke shack burger too, has plenty of toppings and is flooded with flavour.

i love the smoke shack and cheese fries, i just wish the portions are bigger because the price you pay is not worth it. overall, if you’re craving a nice smash burger, it’s the best one i’ve had in cardiff so far.

First, great beef pate, great seasoning. But, super expensive joint that is also poorly cleaned and maintained. Out tables were sticky and dirty and as a guide £5 for most drinks (root beer £5.50...!?), £10 for single burger, £4 for a tiny tray of fries... Shake Shack does not do enough to justify the prices. It's a poor deal in pretty poor surroundings.

Food much better than last visit 100% improvement

I personally had one of the best fast food experiences of my life at shake shack. The meat was to die for and dont get me started on the buns. The fries were fried in a way that makes me want to blow my brains out. Also, I tried one of your signature milkshakes and saying it was the greatest milkshake I've ever tried was an understatement. Also, I thought the prices were top notch for the quality of the food. In conclusion, anyone that says that shake shack isn't good has no brain cells. I for one will be making regular purchases at this establishment.

The food here is really delicious, however it’s worth noting that the burgers are on the smaller side, but I found it to be a comfortable amount of food. The ordering system is a little bit unconventional but not in a bad way - you give your name and have to listen out for your order when it’s ready. Will come again, I liked it here and want to come back and try some of the desserts!

Really nice burger and fries. Good quality meat and fillings. If you want something that's elevated from McDonald's but still in a takeaway style then I recommend.

Food is way over priced for what it is, fries don't automatically come with the burgers. Food was mid didn't really enjoy anything as it was over salted and my bun was literally green, only decent thing was the mayo n ketchup. My partner got given the wrong burger (think the cashier misheard him) and his ice tea just tasted watered down. Will not be going back here even if its the last thing on earth as I'd rather starve than pay £37 for a glorified McDonald's.

The best thing was the Sprite! Fries were over salted and were the chicked bites. The burgers are overpriced and tiny. Tried Shake Shack in NYC and it was a lot better! Dont waste your money!

The Burger was very good meat was tasty the bun was soft but the price is to high 8,50£ for a cheeseburger. Also the burger was very small compared to what I had in mind. It could be much bigger for what I paid for.

Went in this morning for my first time and was pleasantly surprised! Placed an order for a homemade lemonade which was received promptly by a smiley person on the till and the place was pretty much spotless.

I came with friends to eat, was expecting just to eat fries as I dont eat meat. Thankfully I saw there was a vegan section on the menu. So I went to the cashier and asked for it, the guy looked at me strangely and laughed at me in front of the customers ( I dont know why it's on the menu for reason), then turned around and told the open kitchen what I ordered they laughed and stared at me. Honestly just felt very weird and I find it disrespectful, I dont think people should feel embarrassed about ordering something thats clearly stated on the menu. Things must be bad at home or something so maybe you should ask if bro is okay :)

I went on a short break to Cardiff at the end of June. I had a chicken burger here, the chicken was super succulent and the mayo had a nice zing, lovely. I wasn't expecting it to be as nice, and very reasonably priced too. A solid 9.2 out of 10.
