Fat Cat Cafe Bar in Leicester

The Fat Cat has undergone a major facelift since I last went there. My memory was of a busy bar that somewhat resembled a greasy spoon cafe but which did a roaring trade in alcohol-based snifters. The 'new' Fat Cat was clearly modelled on the type of bar you'd see in a low-budget 1980s gangster film, which was 'trendy' in 1982 but which, nowadays, resembles more a rather poor attempt to re-create a tart's boudoir - the only thing missing was real carpet on the walls. Having said that, we went there for their much-vaunted '2-4-1 cocktails' offer. "Super," (we said to ourselves), "we'll knock back a few drinks before our dinner reservation at 8. If we start at 5.30-6.00, we can get ourselves nicely lubricated before tucking into a nice bit of Italian food round the corner." Huge mistake. For a start, we were the *only* customers in the entire time we were there - 5.40 to 8.00, on a Friday night, in a town which boasts two large universities. Perhaps those were the early warning signs which we, unaccustomed as we are to enjoying a night out, completely missed. The one young lady behind the bar seemed surprised - nay, terrified - to see us. When we asked for a cocktail menu she spent five minutes searching for one, before giving up and reading the list from the till. Be warned: not all the cocktails they serve are covered by the 2-4-1 offer. When you finally order your cocktails, be prepared for a long - a *very* long - wait for them to be made. Said bar lady obviously doesn't actually know how to make any of the cocktails on the list, and when she finally managed to make sense of the instructions on her cards, must have been under instruction to shake every single one of them, whether or not the recipe calls for them to be shaken. "Make them think they're in the middle of a Tom Cruise movie," she must have been told. (Although thank God she never tried to throw or spin any bottles, as her hand-eye co-ordination clearly wasn't up to such flashy tricks.) Oh, and don't expect to get the cocktail you asked for, either. Unless you ask for a Long Island Iced Tea, the chances of them having any of the ingredients for your chosen tipple is slim to say the least. Innovation is somewhat lacking, too. I thought "I know, I'll ask for a Negroni," and proceeded to explain what it entails (and, let's face it, it's pretty simple). Again that look of frightened despair from the young lady, somewhat akin to a rabbit caught in headlights, or that look you get from a deer moments before your speeding SUV sends it to join Bambi's mother in Deer Heaven. I never quite understood her reply, but it was something along the lines of her not being qualified to follow simple instructions for three equal measures of three common spirits. There is one positive point that I ought to mention, for the sake of balance. They have plenty of crushed ice. We walked back past the place at around 10.15pm. By that time there place was positively heaving - there might have been as many as *three* couples in there, strategically placed in different parts of the bar to make it look busier. They also had a massive posse of two doormen, not quite enough for one per couple, but maybe enough to prevent the inevitable trouble from kicking off as the cocktails of tap water and crushed ice took their inevitable hold of the inebriated monsters who were rampaging quietly in their separate booths. To be fair, I never heard the DJ's set, as we were there far too early for the music set. I can only imagine that, when the DJ started, he/she pumped out such modern classics as "Copacobana" and "The Girl From Ipamena". Nothing like a selection of dated lounge music to liven up the place ... Loved it! And you'll love it too if you have any appreciation of the utterly ridiculous!

Went to book a table online but found there was a £2.50 booking fee, this is 2020 nowhere has a booking fee anymore as everything is done online... Therefore we walked in and asked for a table, LOADS of tables available and the waitress makes a big deal about it saying we can sit here but only for an hour. Fair enough but don't act like it's such an inconvenience and make us wait at the entrance for 5 mins to be seated. Ordered 4 cocktails, all on the 2 4 1 offer - 2 Appletinis (which were not tasty) and 2 cosmos, all of which we saw sat on a tray at the bar which we waited ages to be given. The waitress who charged us first charged my friend £17 when we said we were splitting the bill so then refunded her in cash, but gave incorrect change. I was then charged £9.30 instead of the £8.50 as stated on the menu, we then questioned this and the waitress wasn't sure so checked at the bar... Came back and said there's a 40p service charge per drink and pointed to tiny writing at the bottom of the menu. Now I wouldn't have minded paying £8.90 for a drink, my issue is when you pay a service charge anywhere its always made clear and states an amount such as 10% service charge. Obviously the bar are taking advantage of customers the more the drink and become less aware of how much they're paying for drinks! When we asked for a receipt to show this service charge the printer was conveniently broken. Will never return here, such a deceitful place with slow and poor service.

I was very excited to go and celebrate my friends 21st birthday. We went to the venue to celebrate, dressed appropriately, well behaved and was ready to enjoy the night. When getting to the door the bouncer refused entry for me and my friends because we had ‘a lot of guys’, I said to him I don’t understand why and then he threatened me saying ‘get out my face right now you little sh*t or I will f**k you up’. I was very shocked and felt threatened. Below is a photographed picture of the guy who said these abusive comments (Pictured with the hat). I then spoke to the so called manager (pictured with glasses) who said ‘email me’ in a rude manner.

Moved on to here from lunch. Bar staff totally inadequate. 20 minutes to get served. I won't be rushing back. Crap DJ too. The only thing he knows how to do well is clear the dance floor. Didn't learn by his mistakes either, did it many times.

I was verbally abused by a promoter/bouncer at Fat Cats who told me his name was 'Turbs'. He called me 'a stupid f*cking cow' and swore at me repeatedly. I had to call the police after neither the bouncers or the manager would speak to me. They ignored my complaints there and then and further more ignored my email and Facebook message. The Facebook page for Fat Cats read my message but then turned off their messaging so it now says they’re away. They have refused to respond to any of my complaints, from what I can see they are run by incredibly rude staff and they're refurbishment is a lovely way to mask their shoddy management. I would strongly suggest that no one goes there.

All the security people are eating food and smoking cigarettes by the main entrance but they don’t allow customers to do so. That’s a very negative image for a newly refurbished bar in town.

Doorman made me feel very uncomfortable when I went outside to vape. He said that I should smoke out the back, even though he was smoking and said that he was allowed to smoke as he was staff. I felt that he was rude, and other door staff were on their phone, and drinking. I have been quite excited about this place as it has reopened after being refurbished, but I consider that the door staff are not portraying a positive image.

Called in on happy hour on a Sunday. Tables were filthy and there were unattended children running round poking paper into an electric fire for fun. Only good thing about this place was the background music and the choice of cocktails. I felt like I needed a wash after leaving here.

The music is on point. The drinks selection is good. Only draw back is the place is to crowded on previous visits. Worth a visit if you can get past the bouncers.

I would highly recommend this place. All staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. The management are very much the same! The cocktails were amazing....

Friends stag weekend. Was a decent atmosphere with good music. slightly small venue but had good energy, smoking shelter is too close to the main room as could smell smoke all night

Went one evening for cocktails before going elsewhere for a meal. Drinks menu was initially not available. Purchased drinks on a 2 for 1 offer as advised on the menu. Took more than 15 minutes for the waitress to make and bring them to the table, despite being only a couple of other customers in the bar. When paying was told that the offer didn't apply. Initially reluctant to provide a receipt.

Went for a few drinks prior to eating out. Atmosphere was awful. Bar staff behind the bar texting and eating the fruit meant for cocktails. Lots of drunk students just generally annoying everyone else. Won't be back.

came for a night out in Leicester and was not disappointed, staff are friendly and I felt it was a very safe environment, thoroughly enjoyed the night and prices were reasonable music was good. If your in leicester for a night out i would definitely recommend coming here.

Very juicy cocktails, all on 2-4-1, good bar staff and food (from the starters we tried) is lovely; very fresh and tasty. Definitely be coming back

I went here for lunch with a former colleague as we fancied a change. The food was actually quite good - around £7 for a ciabatta with chips and coleslaw. I had the avocado, tomato and mozzarella which was good and my friend was pleased with the pulled pork. It's a big space and a shame that we were one of only 2 tables in there. The ambiance was therefore somewhat lacking and the music was a little loud. It's also a shame, given that they weren't busy at all, that one of the 2 bar staff couldn't come and take our order. We will probably try it again but it's very similar to what lots of other places have on offer and without table service which is a little off putting.

For a so called premium bar, the place is a dive and the toilets are horrendous!!! Never again will I go in there.The drinks are over priced and the bar staff are rude.

Called in Friday night around 8pm for a drink before a meal out. I had a raspberry tickle, swapped the red bull for cranberry juice, it was delicious. Thoroughly recommend if you like fruity cocktails.Was a long wait to be served though and it wasn't that busy. Need more staff behind the bar.

Well, I was not very impressed by this pub, because there is not much place for dancing, the music is from 2000 year.

Quite expensive for drinks, quiet at start of evening, but got livelier. ButHow can any decent establishment not have any loo paper and soap in their toilets, from the start of the evening despite being told by customers. Not good.

My first visit was ruined by a horrible barman.My second visit was much better - bar staff were lovely, good drinks, music and a fun place to have a dance on a Friday night.

Starting late afternoon on some of the amazing cocktails was great, you could see the passion the bar staff have for the job. Originally planning to stay for a couple of quiet drinks then turned into an impromptu night out with a top atmosphere and a great time with friends. Will definitely be revisiting!

A few years ago this was my must visit place to catch up with friends, and enjoy a tipple or two. Sadly on my most recent visit in a while I found the place rather run down, and the staff no longer friendly or even affable, in fact the member of staff who served me seemed to be out of his depth. The Gents and Ladies toilets were an utter disgrace. I won't be back, there are far better places to have a drink and bite within a stones throw.

O lugar ficava muito lotado e o som é extremamente alto, então nem adianta sentar nas mesas do lado de dentro pois é impossível conversar. Os drinks são bons e o atendimento razoavel.

Great atmosphere, the bar staff are great, the people are great & the cocktail making is very impressive! I'd definitely recommend going there!

This place has a really good atmosphere, great selection of spirits and amazing cocktails. The food menu is definitely worth checking out as well. The staff are great and attentive. The VIP service is also exceptional. All in all it is a great place for either a casual drink, a bite to eat or a memorable night out!

This place is utter crap. Most of the staff is really rude which you will see right from the entrance. Especially the bouncers! The place is small and dirty and the food is just disgusting. There is a small indian bouncer who I find is just out for trouble and is backed up by his fellow peers who are scared to stand up to him. Went here for a night out and after 2 drinks the bouncer started on my brother for no reason!It looks like the owner is employing uneducated people. Never go to this place if you don't want your mood to be ruined!

I rang on to book a table for wowcher pizza and wine .I was told that I did not need to book. When i arrived with my friend I was told that the kitchen is now closed 19:00.I called them the next day and asked what time they usually close as I had used a wowcher like this months ago after 19:00.They explained that as they are short staffed their kitchen now closes at 18:00.I spoke to the kitchen manager about an extension on the wowchers as i have two of these wowchers and am unable to get to get there before 18:00 due to work commitments.He said that he did not know what to do as he did not set up the wowcher and suggested the only thing I can do was to contact wowcher.I was reluctant so called back and arranged to go tonight and asked if I could take the wine away as I am working.They said that they were not licenced for this so i wud b unable to do it.I asked why they put the deal on wowcher if they were short staffed and they said that "wowcher automatically did it".The lady on the phone went on to say that I should have booked a table!to which I explained that when I called them i was told that I didnt need to...to which she replied...well everyone should know that when you buy something from wowcher you need to book.Excuse me?was i suppose to tell the lady on the phone how to do her job and demand that she book me a table??I asked if I could speak to the manager but she said that as I had already spoken to the kitchen manager,if he couldnt do anything,then nobody else would be able to.Absolutely disgusting...waiting on a reply from wowcher...brilliant that places can "do cheap" but if they cant provide basic customer service then its pointless..

Myself and a group of friends had a booking here last week for pizza and cocktails. When we arrived we were told the kitchen had already closed. The bar person was very uninterested so I asked for the manager. He claimed my booking was for 5pm ( it was read back to me as 7 when I booked ) and we were late. There was a big note in the book saying no bookings after 6 as they had a bar crawl. I suspect the waitress had taken my booking without looking at the book and changed the time to cover her back. We were given a free drink (no consolation for no dinner and the inconvenience!) I then made a booking for today (with the manager and watched him write it in the book) for 6.30. I have just been called to be told the kitchen closes today at 6 and could we come in early?!?!?! Another night ruined by Fat Cats and their lack of planning and customer service! It takes more than a Groupon offer to bring customers in - especially when you cannot seem to deliver a service let alone get as far as an actual product!!!

Went at lunchtime for pizza for 2 with a pitcher of cocktail which was kindly subsistuted for a non alcoholic one.The pizza were freshly made with a lovely stonebaked base.They do have a nice menu of burgers,pizzas, wraps and sandwiches and very cheap but if the pizza is any indication they wont be short on taste or quality.

Eaten here a few times before and the pizzas always been nice but this time it was burnt around the edge and that dry that a bottle of wine couldn't wash it down. I left half of it and told the waitress. She said she would tell the chef but she never came back to tell us what he had said. If it hadn't have been paid for in advance with a groupon voucher I would have refused to pay for it. We thought we'd found a gem on previous visits but now know why it's empty on a Saturday lunch time.

Went to this place last night as a group of 4 girls and 6 guys. Waited in the queue for 45 minutes to get in (still a massive queue at around 2/2.30am!) So assumed it was good.Got to the front of the queue and at least 20 people had left including two guys who were involved in a fight. we asked the bouncer if we could go in since it was clearing out and he replied "I don't think you're getting in now especially the guys" we asked why and he had no answer. He seemed prejudice against us because of other people arguing and fighting!Also they had an issue where we stood and said if we didn't step back we wouldn't get let in and nearly pushed us back (petty thing, we were standing where everyone else did!) Bouncers were rude and awkward and unwelcoming.Horrible experience when we were trying to celebrate a 21st birthday and it killed the positive vibes. Avoid at all costs.

Absolutely shocking and disgusting behaviour! Do not go here unless you want to be bulliedand humiliated. We went to fat cats quite late, but this was arranged. There was a large group of friends, it was for drinks after my engagement party. We were extremely polite as the bar is known to be difficult after 11pm.To cut a long story short, my fiancé and I went to ask how long it would be for my friends to get in. And a very very rude Caucasian bouncer told us to get out and get to the back of the line.He gave us 5 seconds, and because I had not moved by then, he PUSHED ME onto the street. (The same also happened to my sister! Who went flying into a taxi- her heels were too high and she failed to catch herself) My friend saw the whole thing happen, and made a comment to the bouncer as she was so angry, "I didn't realise you pushed girls now" and the reply she got was "if you don't leave, we'll do the same to you"We were causing no trouble, yes we were a little drunk, but 95% of the guests were. It's absolutely disgusting that this is how fat cats treats women! I strongly urge anyone not to go here, unless you want to be publicly humiliated and assaulted. The whole evening was ruined as I spent the entire night in tears completely shocked at how somebody could do this, and FAT CAT as a company allow this sort of behaviour!

Its ok for dance and a drink. This place is always very busy and gets full after 11pm or so. The music is ok and you can have dance. more lively after 11pm otherwise can be dead and boring beefier that

This place does the best cocktails in town, the staff really know what they are doing. I love the attention to detail on presentation and the ingredients are of the highest quality!!

I dined here using a voucher. I got 2 pizzas and a drink for just under £10. The value was excellent and the taste was good, but nothing that blew me away. The place could have been cleaner. The tables were sticky and had not been wiped down. The leather sofas had stains on them. The service was okay, again nothing outstanding. The server could have done with more of a smile. I would only return here again if I had another voucher as I definitely would not pay full price for the experience.

Bouncers are so up their own behind its unbelievable. They will chuck you out as and when they want and without reason also. Bar staff are rude and serve people who have just got to the bar rather than the people who have been waiting over twenty minutes for a drink!

Went in for cocktails with my daughter and her friend. Bar person very accommodating and provided some very very nice cocktails. Very welcoming. Only thing I would grumble about is that the tables were sticky. Not anyone other than my daughter, her friend and I in there but it was still a nice atmosphere and we stayed there a couple of hours.

I had no idea this place did food, have been in in the past just for a drink in the evening but bought a groupon for a meal and we used it yesterday (Saturday)The staff were pleasant and efficient, I had a spicy chicken pizza, £7.95 and my partner had a meat feast pizza, also £7.95. We shared a bottle of very nice Sauvignon blanc, think that was £15/£16 .the pizzas were both good and the selection of other food on the menu was good and reasonably priced too, think I'll try the ostrich burger next time £5.95.Was very impressed and glad we discovered they do food here.Look forward to returning.

I haven't eaten at Fat Cats, but it is the usual place to go on a Friday and Saturday night. The music is always good and it is always busy.

Good atmosphere on the Saturday night we got there. Relatively busy. Only issue is it takes an eternity to get served. And when you did get served they were a bit slow.

visited fat cafe this weekend on a Wowcher deal(2 x 10" pizza & a bottle of wine)excellent service and a most enjoyable meal (hot & tasty) Also to our surprise the bottle of house Rose was of a very good quality,We will definitely return here soon, !! Not a great experience! Although I am a student myself , I am not used to seeing people in an extremely drunk state already cat calling while queing outside, being let inside by the bouncers. Asin That wasn't traumatising enough , I got teased. On by different types of drunk men at the bar counter, the dance floor and while visiting the ladies room.not a very good personal experience!!

A group of 10 of us visited this awful place for a pre-booked Christmas meal. They had received our order 2 weeks previously. Well, where to start ? There was hardly a soul in the place - never a good sign on the Friday lunchtime before Christmas. The tables shook, rattled and rolled until several menus were folded and placed under the legs and it appeared that the waitress had been trained by Basil Fawlty. Abrupt, spilling drinks on people's presents and generally pretty clueless when it came to any notion of customer service. Starters arrived in fits and starts and were ok, if feeling rather mass-produced. A request for bread, to go with a prawn cocktail, was met with - 'sorry, haven't got any' Then a very, very long wait for mains which were served on cold plates and, regardless of choice (gammon, turkey, chicken, salmon, lamb) you got Christmas dinner trimmings with all of it. Crusty Yorkshire puddings (Aunt Bessies perhaps ?) came with some rather sad vegetables, pigs in blankets (with fish ?), stuffing and about enough gravy for three people. No sauce for the fish.We asked another waiter for some more gravy, and he said 'just shout if you need more' to which we said 'we just have'. The main course took about 10 minutes to get everyone served. When we eventually said enough is enough and complained, Sybil told us the chef was 'rushed off his feet'. He was actually leaning on the bar, talking to the manager, and there were 4 other customers dining. Our complaint and request to leave without deserts (all this had taken 1hr 40 mins) was met with utter indifference and £7 was knocked off a £200 bill. A further complaint to the completely clueless plonker who claimed to be the manager eventually resulted in a further £20 deducted, although he couldn't supply a bill for this amount. At no point, even when politely requested, did he offer any apology. We cut our losses and left, never to return. Hopefully, this place will soon be closed down. Please don't waste your time and money eating here.

I visited Fat Cats at lunch time for our Xmas meal out.We had already pre-ordered our meals and told them we were arriving just after 12 and had to be back at the office by 2pm.The service was terrible, the first of the starters came out at 12.20 and they came out in dribs and drabs, some people who had starters finished theirs before others came out.The mains didn't start coming out till nearly 1pm! Lots of people didn't have starters so were sat waiting for a very long time without food. Again they came out in dribs and drabs and people finished their meals before others had come out.The pizzas were burnt round the edges which made some of it inedible, same with a burger in which the meat was burnt round the edges.Same with the desserts which didn't come out till almost 1.45pm. The last dessert came out at 2.10pm which is terrible as we were supposed to be back at work for 2pm. Some got served with spoons and we had to find spare forks on the tables to use!I really don't understand how they couldn't have had meals ready to cook when we had pre-ordered our meals and they knew a big party was coming.There was only one chef but there were other staff floating around who could have helped with prep instead of standing around.There weren't many people on Fat Cats at the time and some of the serving staff were rude and not friendly.My advice - don't go to eat at Fat Cats.

Really question why people wait to get in a venue that has drinks prices more expensive than Mayfair ! It seems to attract wealthy people too daft to care along with people who cant wait in turn to get served.

Went for a lunch time meet up with some colleagues but found it to be more of an evening venue then lunch time, as it seems its only open during lunch to make a bit extra but no extras for the people visiting! Very dark and dreary. When I came in (being my first time) I randomly wondered about whilst the bar staff stood waiting for me to approach them. After being seated we were given sufficient time to pick from the menu- which I admit did have a decent selection unless you were going for veg then its a cheese, cheese and more cheese- decent portions but my plate was a huge wrap willed with cheese (it looked like the whole block) and salad, with some extra salad on the side with crisps all for about £6. Enjoyed the mocktails.Hated the service, in particular when paying for the bill I got a rather stroppy, unsociable young member of staff who obv needs to be taught how to smile, let alone the verbal nicerties.Overall basically wont be going again.

Went to Fat Cats with some clients and the food that was served was good and reasonably price all of the party commented on how nice it was

Bouncer decline me entry due to 'dress code' which I accepted. I was wearing tshirt and jeans. Next on the queue were group of four Asians wearing similar cloths. Initially bauncer declined them entry when he noticed I was looking. After I left, to my astonishment the bouncer run after the group of same Asian and allowed them entry too despite 'contravene their dress code'. It appears to me they were selective on who to let in possibly based on the colour of skin and not dress code...

I love this place. During the day they serve yummy food and great drinks and at night it becomes a vibrant heartbeat of the Leicester night scene. Worth a visit

Bit pricey but I enjoyed my food here, nothing mind blowing but very satisfying. Bartenders really know their stuff. Bit quiet and ideal for lunch in the day, sophisticated at night and on the weekends the atmosphere is the best in Leicester and the door staff to a terrific job of keeping riff raff out.

Nice bar on a very bus bar street so it gets very busy and rather rowdy in the evenings. It does nice food in the day. Overall id say have a drink there but if you are civilised there are nicer bars...also there are much worse :)

We were here for about 15 minutes on a Saturday night. Saw a fight a couldn't get anywhere near the bar. Disappointed.

We often call in for lunch to Fat Cat where the offers make it an incredibly inexpensive way to eat out, with or without the children.We've been on a Saturday and, thanks to an offer, our children ate for free and all the meals was fantastic. The children's fish and chips was amazing, complete with newsprint paper, and easily satisfied our 11 year old's enormous appetite, and was delicious enough to tempt our two year old to nearly clear her plate. Our family of five ate for less than £20, including drinks, and the quality was terrific.We've also visited on other days, and have yet to have a bad meal. The service is usually brilliant, especially when we have the children with us, and we'll definitely be back again and again.

Food not that exciting a bit prepackaged tasting and service very slow. The evenings are better for atmosphere.

Have been here a couple of times recently, and the food sure is quite tasty, cheap and a good variety...All the meals were nice, and didnt have to wait too long Service was good as well from all members of staff..Have been with friends, family and colleagues from work..Would definitely go again and highly recommend it

I was out Saturday night to meet a group of friends that I havnot met for nearly a year, although we stood in the que for nearly an hour it was worth it. I was really impressed how the doorman picks out the dodgy looking charaters from the que and ask them to leave. It felt like I was in London. we had a great night, the atmosphere inside was brilliant, no attitude and everyone was friendly. I will defenetly come back again

perfect place to get drunk and value for money also the atmosphere is great i liking drinking and eating this is all in one perfect location and great fun.

been here a few times to eat in the day, was quite impressed with the food and the service, all was prompt and well presented, never eaten here at night though, BUT iv been here on a fry & sat night just for a drink, different kettle of fish, the bouncers have a big attitude and they think they are all he-men with some thing to prove, and i must agree with a comment below, full of down and out people of Leicester who get drunk and pray on ladies having a good time, day time i will go againe, night time never again.... and please note, im scoring this place on daytime only..

Booked VIP Area for a family get together.We ordered buffet warm snacks for 16 people for £7.50 per head. I made sure while booking that there would be enough food for everyone? I was more then happy to pay more.I was told plenty of food and usually there is loads left over.The reality was the opposite. 2 bowls of nachos, 3 x 7" pizza, 2 x plates of burnt wedges, one plate of warm bread and one plate of mini chicken wraps. I would enough for 7 people to light snack on.We had to complain a few times. All we got was let me speak to manager. No one came back to us after 30mins to say what was going on. In the end we had to raise over voice to get an answer and some more food, which was not every nice.Spoilt out night.Won't be going there again.And service was below par.

Great value lunch. Especially with the Monday lunchtime offers. Friendly service and great quality food. Ive only ever eaten there at lunchtime but its always been good

Came here for a quick bite and only had a burger, But what a nice change to have a proper burger with plenty of chips, a tasty roll and coleslaw on the side. For a decent price and a nice atmosphere what more could you ask for :-)

I have been a couple of times in this place, and neither of my nights were smooth. The kind of people who goes there just has no manners and are completely incapable of having a good time without causing trouble. The last time I was in there (last night), a guy thought he would be clever if he grabbed my bum while I was walking past them. Obviously my partner and I tried to find out who it was and before we could even say anything an other guy grabbed us, and pushed us away. And this is when the "professional" bouncer jumped in and dragged my boyfriend outside by his neck, not even making an effort to look and see the other 5 guys that were causing trouble and pushing everyone away to get him. After this I walked outside and tried to get out the door when the same bouncer just grabbed me and the other lady, and pushed us into the door then outside. So I am asking: Is that OK to grab someone's bum in a place and get away with it. The matter of fact is that we couldn't even deal with it in any way because someone was already there ready for a fight. I have asked for the bouncers name afterwards who (then) nicely told me he cannot give it to me. So I am describing him: he was (of course) a tall, and big guy with gingery hair and had a beard. The management will definitely get a phone call from me and they will hear from me.

Turned up with my wife on a Monday night. Went for the 2 course offer at £11.95. Good value we thought from a wide choice menu. Food was good and with drinks I expected a bill on the north side of £30. The bill? £17 what a bargain! Apparently Monday night is half price food and drink all night! Result we will be back

Been here so many times over the last 20 years and it never disappoints.menu is great.plenty for everyone.prices are good too as they do good deals.place is lovely and staff always spot on.

Not been in this bar for a few years and got to say i wasn't missing anything. Bar staff unfriendly and the 241 cocktails is a bit rubbish as you have to order the two of the same drink and only pay for one, you expect to be able to choose two different ones! Although the one we choose was nothing like i had ever had before and was really quite nasty and that was the general feeling of our group!

I'm pretty much a regular at Fat Cats. Its reasonably priced with good deals on cocktails.Friday and Saturday nights are always popular and there is a really good atmosphere! The different food menus are definately worth a go, I've been on ladies night (Thursday) which is 2 courses and the cocktail of the week for the cheap as chips £11.95. Bargain!Food quality has always been spot on and the staff are friendly but not in your face.Definately worth giving it a go

I went there on a saturday night after a very long time to meet a few friends on my reccomendation as this place was the place to be on a Saturday night where there was nice mellow music,nice crowd and a decent ratio when it came to men vs women. I turned up at 10.30pm and felt i have come to the wrong place!! Music so loud, intimidating crowd, just a total mess. I felt like i was playing spot the white man in there, i am not a racist person and by no means is that comment geared towards that nature, i love indian food, my best mate is indian however seriously this place has gone downhill in my eyes

It's a city centre bar. It's noisy but OK. Plenty of comfy places to sit, OK prices and good food. Not my favourite but it's been there a while and it's popular. Nowt wrong with it, there are better but give it a try. I'd hate to see it go, and plenty have in Leicester recently.

Yet another venue for young people to be seen in their latest gear. Not very well decorated though and surly staff fit in with the drab decor. If you really want to pay top dollar for average drinks there are much better places to go.

Me and my partner are an easy going funloving couple and came into Leicester on Saturday night (30th june 2012)to have a bit of fun. We waited at the bar for 35 minutes at the front of bar and barlady(short blonde bobbed hair) working by the beer garden deliberately avoided serving us; people continuously kept coming after us and they were gettin served-it was obvious she had some issues as we were just standing their patiently made to wait and she was fully aware of it and continued to smirk.I know it was because my partner is attractive (genuinely) and the barmaid sadly wasnt and brought her 'ugly' issues into the workplace but thats unnecessary:-) we were forced to go to the other bar and got better service.Its an ok place, busy,but spoilt by one particular barstaff, that needs a counselling session or 2 or more...to the manager - please address this...

A unique venue offering good cocktails and food. Good value for money.

It's probably been quite a few years since I have been in this place and I vaguely remember not being impressed with the food back then well it hadn't changed much. Out of the 4 meals we ordered for lunch the 2 which were the most straight forward were not good. A dry and half cooked jacket potato and some chewy mackerel on a lame salad. The risotto's were nice though. Having said that the customer service was good and the waiting staff were friendly and dealt with our complaint very professionally. They deducted 2 meals off the bill, replaced one meal for an alternative and also gave us 10% off the total bill. This I cannot fault them for and I walked away impressed.

this bar is in a strip of similar types but appeared to be the best of a bad bunch from the outside. Inside, it was loud (and not a good loud but your ear-bleedingly bad music) staff were quite rude, drinks over priced and not particularly nice. I would avoid this place like the plague. It's to be expected that every city will have its quota of chain type bars, this one was particularly bad and at the risk of sounding snobbish, would leave this to the wannabe wags of leicester....

If you want to go somewhere up market with good atmosphere and no teenage nuisance then this is the place to go. Whether you're going with a group of friends or a partner this place will not fail to disappoint. They also let you hire the back part out if you contact them with enough notice!

Nice lunch near the centre of town , good value , wide variety of dishes , deals are good value aswell . Friendly waitresses . Will go back for lunch again
