Fat Boys Fish & Chips in The Vale of Glamorgan

I love the burgers from here they were thick and juicy. But today I don’t know what’s going on the burgers are allot thinner, dry. And the bun is tiny! Yet the prices have gone up. If you have switched butchers switch back because this burger wasn’t it. The bacon wasn’t that nice either. Chips were okey not like they use to be. So not sure if I would order again from here. Disappointed and not worth the price. Plus it took soooooo long and I don’t even live that far 😂🤷🏾‍♀️

Usually really great food. It's a busy Friday night so I expect to wait longer than usual for food. But I waited an 1 hour and 45 mins for overcooked kebab meat and a smattering of salad. The kids meal was good can't complain there. But wouldn't say its worth the wait at all.

Beautiful burgers and fresh bread. So tasty and the cheese was delicious. Some minor issues however. I ordered two bottles (500ml) of Diet Coke and had only one bottle of Coke Zero. I ordered a small curry sauce and it was gravy. The chips needed just a minute or two more in the fryer as they were a little soggy but will be back for the burgers!!

The chips were disgusting couldn’t eat any of them loads of black chips and all you could taste was grease

Amazing fish, very large range of burgers which all look incredible, delivery always on time when ordering over the phone , all round best service .. will be my preferred takeaway from now

Have tried chips in Barry but have to say best fish and chips I had my family enjoyed the food .will 100% be coming back

Bought food here a few times. The fish is always perfect, however, the chips are 9x out of 10 letting the business down. Today I order and the chips where rock solid, seems like they have been cooked and recooked to many times. Honestly couldn’t eat them. Also 60p for the world tiniest pot of sauce, gone after two dips!

Just got got home with supper, unlike previous visits the chips were basically inedible. The majority of them were as hard as nails,very disappointing to say the least.

Ordered through the Vale of Glamorgan app and had our order delivered. The order arrived 15 mins earlier than we thought, so that was great! Food was hot, fresh and fantastic. Great and we will ge ordering again.

I had food from here before when the old owners had it, long wait but the food was nice, so I thought I would give it another try now it was under new management, I fancied the 'loaded fries'. I went in an ordered thinking this would be the quickest way, but seems like they were prioritising the delivery customers as lots of those went out while I waited 25 minutes outside. Chips were horrible, I ordered loaded fries but it was just dry chippy chips with a really bland sauce in a tub on the side. I ordered a two single burgers and a double, got two doubles and a single instead, almost £25 and the chips got left as they were foul, real waste of money and time, gutted

Great fish and chip shop. Then customer service was great as they accomidated to what i was requested. Food was amazing highly recommend especially their burgers!! Like wow so tasty and proper beef unlike alot of places!!

Such a bad experience I signed up to trip advisor just to leave feedback. Used to love this chippy but won’t use it again. Ordered online, delivery was very late, chips were stale, fish cake was like a hockey puck and fish batter was akin to cardboard. Phoned up to notify them of the issues and was told I would have to bring the food back myself. Could hear the miserable manager on the phone in the background who sounded like she clearly doesn’t care. Cheers

Ordered online and collected. Food was very good. Chips nice and not greasy. Battered sausage very good.

Not a great meal. The pies were soggy as obviously microwaved. Usually chip shops turn them upside down in the heated cabinet so they crisp up a bit. Also the chips weren’t great either. For something that is deep fried they were rather dry. Obviously hanging around too long. I understand under new management so I’ll give them a second chance again in a few weeks in the hope they go back to their previous standards.

I have always loved this chippy but I can’t say it will be my chosen choice anymore. I witnessed something so so cruel. A nice man came in to order some food, without a mask, and immediately a red haired woman behind the counter started verbally attacking him. He said he was exempt but she just did not want to listen to him. She actually made him wait outside in the rain for his order. I just found it so uncomfortable. Just because someone isn’t wearing a mask you can’t prejudge them and treat them terribly. Shame on that woman. She could at least of giving him a chance to speak.

We were going to get our fish & chips from a rival place but read the reviews on here & changed our minds. So very glad we did. I phoned through our order & was told 10 mins. So hubby went to collect & it was ready bang on time. We ordered the meal deal one one Small fish dinner & one large fish dinner. Was fresh, crispy & not greasy everything you could want in a fish & chip supper. Was so impressed as had fish & chips a couple of months ago somewhere else & was so disappointed. Not so tonight, get your dinner here, you can’t go wrong. Will be back 😁😁😁

Blinks lush. Big piece of fluffy fish covered in fresh crispy batter. No grease had the set meal. With mushy peas n tartar sauce. Couldn’t eat all the chips the fish was so filling highly reccomend xx

Won't wax lyrical. I normally order burgers, chicken pizza etc if I'm having a takeaway. Ordered fish and chips from fat boys tonight l for a change, prompt delivery, and the fish was beautiful as were the chips and curry sauce. Will deffo be having this again. Well done. Look forward to the next one.

Ordered two fish n chips curry sauce mushy peas lovely only problem I found my fish was suppose to be large not much bigger than my wife’s see pic where I come from large fish just fits in the box see pics apart from that very nice price 14.70 includes 50p service charge which I didn’t like

This evening we had our third fish and chips, since our isolation, delivered to our home. Once again we weren’t disappointed, the fish was really white and tasty with an abundance of fab chips. To cap it all a pleasant, a polite young man delivered it. Thanks FatBoys.

I highly recommend this please I always order from here whether it be collection or delivery! Amazing food especially the chicken! All staff are amazing polite and kind! Best chip shop in barry!

Food was amazing and so was the price also very good service order arrived within 20 minutes, would highly recommend!

Working on Barry, my partner took the trip with me so we decided on fish and chips. We were recommended Fat Boys by our hotel receptionist. Polite, helpful staff, lovely fish and chips, ate them down on the island. Pity about the rain.....

If your looking for a chicken or beef burger look no further than this place. The chips on the other hand were awful they were dry and tasted like the chip fat hadn't been changed in ages.

The best fish and chips, Cod is good size and skin free, batter light and crispy, chips are great. also alternatives. ti fish and chips

My husband and I both had fish and chips. The fish was lovely with light golden batter the chips were cooked to perfection also nice and golden.

Easily the best fish & chip shop in Barry, & probably the surrounding area too. The batter is GOOD. The chips are cooked to perfection. The staff are friendly & the delivery service is an added bonus too, when you’re feeling lazy - nice & quick too (via Just Eat). There are burgers & desserts too, if you fancy something different. OH, & the Mac & Cheese bites are very tasty. Fat Boys is a great asset to Barry.

Love this place. Fairly newly opened. The shop is always spotless and tidy. They have a huge menu, varying from several types of burger to fish bites, pea fritters for veggies and all the usual chip shop items. My fave is the xl double Southern fried chicken burgers & the fish bites. They also sell alcohol which is great for a sneaky beer with the burger. And they deliver!

Me and my husband just had a delivery, we had the chicken burger and beef burger with a few sides & chips. It was so delicious!It was well presented and piping hot when it arrived. Would definitely be ordering from here again. Yummy! So much to choose from too on the menu. X

Lovely cooked fish with deliciously light batter. The burgers are amazing too ! Reasonably priced , can’t wait to try the homemade fish cakes :)
