We have been coming here for over 30 years on our way on holidays from Norfolk. We heard it is closing at the end of the year so we came in for one last breakfast. As usual, the staff were polite and friendly, the service was quick and the food hot and delicious. Excellent value -a good plate full for £7.50. I have no idea why there are so many negative reviews on here; I have NEVER had a bad experience. It’s closure is very sad and the end of an era.

Huge signs saying big breakfast etc etc. Get in there and all they will do is a bap with a sausage etc. 11 quid for a bap and a tea in a cardboard cup.... Won't be back, far better places on that stretch of the road....

Dreadful food with little or no choice in sandwiches. Staff not interested and toilet situation a joke. If I didn't know better it looks like is been taken over by the establishment over the road. My wife has been stopping here for over 50 years. Never again

The farm shop was ok in itself - a bit expensive but the main problem was the toilet policy - someone in my party has a toilet issue and has a medical exemption card which they had to present in order to use the toilet and this was mortifying for them to have to ask - man in farm shop was sympathetic but by rights one shouldn't have to ask to use the toilet. Cafe was expensive and rude staff.

We visited the cafe on our way to an activity centre with 103 students on one of the hottest days of the year. Very patient staff and excellent service so we also called in on the journey back. Very clean and efficient service dealing with so many hungry, hot and very thirsty children. We also received free staff ice creams for having such polite children which was much appreciated. Thank you.

The ‘reviews’ tab at the top doesn’t seem to be working so will post on here. I have been coming here regularly for around 35 years always for breakfast on my way on holiday. It has been through good times and bad times. Today was not so good. A young European lad was learning the ropes on the tills. That was fine, there was someone with him and everyone has to start somewhere. But when my food was brought out by a young European girl who I also guess was new she read out the ticket ‘small breakfast no beans’ I pointed out that there were beans on the plate so it wasn’t mine. She then read the ticket again and tried to give it to me. She clearly had a limited understanding of the language. My husband then returned from getting our cutlery and tried explaining again that it wasn’t what we ordered and repeated what I just said. She eventually took it away, only for a different person to bring exactly the same plate back! They also brought it with toast although I had ordered no extra bread and my husband had ordered bread and butter and not toast. We did get the right food eventually, and I have no objection to youngsters learning a job, but surely it makes sense to ensue they have a good grasp of the language? The food of course, as always, was EXCELLENT , it was hot and good value for money! On another positive note there is FINALLY a disabled toilet available! Woohoo! Up through the bar and towards the flower shop, in an empty part of the warehouse. Ramps have been put in for access. It is also nice that it’s accessed with a radar key so you don’t get all and sundry using it. A much needed recent improvement to make the cafe accessibly for all.

Absolutely atrocious customer service. Our rugby team stopped here on our way to Norfolk to grab a coffee, and a quick bite to eat…however, almost as soon as we walked in, we were challenged by an extremely confrontational lady who stated that we couldn’t go in, nor use the toilet as we hadn’t bought anything….we’d literally just walked in! I understand that they want to keep the toilets etc in a decent state for those who actually buy items, but to install a key code to use them, and to challenge us before we’d even had chance to buy anything, was simply awful- my rugby team by the way are U11s, so some of them found the lady’s attitude rather aggressive. Do yourself a favour, if you don’t want your day to be ruined by over-officious aggressive customer ‘service’ don’t stop here for any reason…..if however you enjoy being spoken AT and greeted with a growl rather than a hello, then this is the perfect place for you!

We arrived about 1pm on Monday 29th November, two coaches already there and two more arrived a few minutes after we did, there are not so many tables as there were before the Covid social distancing but we shared a table with another couple. Food was served quickly and were the usual generous portions. Although the two coaches that came in after us were full and contained over 100 people, they were not long being served and receiving their food. Toilets were clean. The code number for the toilets is a bit of a pain but understandable, we used to use the toilets before going to order food but now obviously have to order first. I have been using this cafe for in excess of 50 years and have seen it expand over the years. It is about mid point on our regular journey. I have no complaints and will continue to use it whenever we travel that way which is currently about twice a month.

We always stop here on our way to and from Norfolk. We stopped here on our way to Great Yarmouth. Normally there is a great selection of hot meals to choose from but we noticed the menu has shrunk considerably. We ordered the Steak pie and chips and the Ham, egg and chips. My mum ordered a cup of tea with that. This came to £19.50 (I didn’t order a drink as I couldn’t find a non-carbonated soft drink other than bottled water) which we thought was quite pricey for what you got. The cup of tea came in a paper, take away cup. This place used to be great but now it seems to be after making more money from less quality produce. The toilet code issue is frustrating (although we totally understand why they have done it) and could be worked better.

Been stopping here for years and it always felt OK, edible food, decent portions. This year, possible the worst meal we’ve ever had and I’m not one to leave reviews unless I’ve had a really good experience, this might be the first time I’ve been compelled to whinge, but we’ve just been taken for £35 for a £20 meal at the most. Couldn’t even drink the cup of tea, as there was an odd unpleasant smell and it tasted like dirty water. Can’t think of another way to describe it. Bit like powdered tea. The ‘jumbo’ fish cakes were grey inside, I’m sure they were safe, (fingers crossed) we were starving so tried eating them. The bread I picked up smelled like tuna juice (I’m sure it wasn’t the fish cake), that’s when I gave up. The cakes looked nice so thought we’d grab some sweet treats for the journey home. But can’t work out what cost what by the receipt. What the hell did we pay £5 for? And was that rotten tea £3 a cup? The chips were absolutely fine. The Avocado and Courgette cake tasted ok, but dry on the edges, but by the time I got to that and the smell of my tea... I’d lost the will. Who knows, but after 40 years as child and woman I won’t be returning. If this had come to under £20, I wouldn’t be so appalled. But £35! We were at the table less than 10 mins. Give it a miss I’d say.

Loads of choices and plenty of seating at this road stop eatery. It’s a place to go for quantity rather than quality and I’m a very fussy bear so wasn’t keen. My food was edible but I didn’t really enjoy it or the place. I used to go to the friendly farmer and thought I’d try this as an alternative now that’s closed, as it’s joined to a farm shop I assumed it would have similar food and the options resemble it but the quality doesn’t. The lady serving was very nice. All in all you might like it if you want a fry up, burger, sandwiches and are after cheap (ish) and cheerful and you want to pull in on the A17 without going off route. Having said that omelette and chips was nearly £8 but there were other cheaper options such as sausage or egg baps.

Three of us called here on the Sunday Morning having stayed in King's Lynn the previous evening. It wasn't our first visit here having experienced it about 15 years ago. Oh how sad we where to discover how it has changed. Back then everything was farm fresh but this time it didn't seem to be. We order 2 breakfasts (one large and one regular), one of the party was still hung-over from the night before and expected a hearty farmhouse breakfast just like we'd had previously. Whilst the meals were hearty enough, we got the impression they'd gone to commercialized and apart from the tomato the rest of the meal seemed supermarket bought. This was sad given that it sells itself as a Farm Café. It doesn't seem to have bother most as whilst we where there it got very busy and at least one coach party had arrived. Overall the breakfast was OK and reasonably priced but not what we'd hoped for.

Non of the over priced plastic fast food you associate with the word services can be found here. Here they sell honest good fare at reasonable rates on real plates. The café is run like a well oiled machine, the service is swift and efficiently and the food is good. We had a "Billy's Breakfast Bap' each, which consists of a large bap filled full of bacon sausage topped with an egg. Very filling, cooked fresh, what's not to like. We have been coming to the farm cafe for many years and have always enjoyed It here . Remembering it well! It seems however that the owners have in fact forgotten a very important fact, that it is in a TRANSPORT cafe and not an upmarket fancy restaurant! £9.50 for gammon, egg and chips eaten off plastic table cloths and tables circa 1982?!! Artek ceilings and toilets that had so much bleach down the toilets, they made my eyes water! An M&S; packet sandwich costs £2.75. These are £3.50!! We shall be moving down the road next time to the ‘other’ transport cafe who clearly have not forgotten they are as such, having won the transport cafe of the year award 2018! Maybe the farm cafe needs to tottle along there and see how much their gammon, egg and chips are?!

She then gave him a paper plate to fan himself because he was hot and not feeling very well, also she answered all our questions politely. In fact her customer service was phenomenal and everything was done with a smile. To be fair the staff who took our order were very understanding and patient, also polite and helpful, unlike one of the other female waitresses who found it too much trouble to help.

my close friends that drive from Grimsby to get their plants every year persuaded me to come with them on Friday . We arrived Friday dinnertime , the beautiful displays that used to be in plant shop are no longer in there , there were no outdoor displays either , the plants that they do have are now in the fruit and vegetable shop …...may I add not watered and uncared for . What a waste of a journey !!! The women that was serving in the fruit shop was disinterested and very rude to us , she knew absolutely nothing about the plants , maybe instead of standing there doing nothing with a surly look on her face , she should water the plants , my friend asked a simple question , only to be snapped at by this thing that works in there !!!! There were other customers in there who were quite clearly disgusted with her rude behaviour , we all stood outside chatting with the other visitors about this person that works in there , all the while she was looking at us like dirt . I think it was the owner that walked in while we were chatting outside , her attitude changed and she was all smiles . This is for anyone whose thinking about going there to buy plants ….DONT bother there all dead !!!!

For a "transport café" - and I don't mean to be detrimental by using this phrase - the Farm Shop is very good. Good service, good food and reasonable prices. Always worth calling in when passing

On our way back from Liverpool so came in for a cup of tea and cake.Spotlessly clean lovely cup of tea. There is a very varied menu good food, we went into the farm shop where we both some home made pickled onions and and some jams and also bought some fruit and veg which were lovely and fresh will defiantly call again on the way home.

The end of era ..... the plant shop girls have gone ..why??? The best part of stopping off here was the atmosphere in the plant shop , over the years they’ve brightened many a dismal day , I’ve popped in + was told by a young lad “they’ve gone + good riddance” very disrespectfully.. the place will never be the same a again ..

Food is basic with a large range of reasonably priced menu consisting mainly of fried options, sandwiches, and a good choice of cling filmed cakes with no prices (a brownie turned out to be £2.40 and a little stale). Ok for a coach stop on the way to Norfolk as service is pretty efficient but woudnt choose to eat here otherwise as there is negligible use of veg and the food tastes far from homemade.

Stopped here on my way to Norwich from Leeds. There was lots of choices but all were with chips or fried foods. No healthy options. I had a bacon bap but it was more bread than filling and had cheap butter on and deep fried bacon. Would never stop here again!!

Stopped here for a comfort stop to and from our holiday in the Lakes. Remember coming several years ago and enjoying a hot drink and a slice of delicious fruit tart. Was pleased to revisit this week and have a wander. Excellent choice of tempting goodies in the shop and purchased one or two. Lemon curd delicious. Enjoyed a nice cappuccino in the restaurant which at the time was almost empty (3pm on a thursday). Unable to comment on the food as didn't have anything to eat but the menu looked good and the prices reasonable.

I would of given a higher rating because the food was lovely as was the atmosphere.......until i witnessed the verbal abuse towards a female member of staff by what I assume was the ‘manageress’ although I use that term loosely ..it took my appetite away . There are laws against such treatment . Don’t let one bad apple ruin the whole bag .

We stopped with our two kids expecting high quality ingredients from a farm shop. Very disappointed to be served low quality highly processed burgers and sausages. Disappointed and won’t be going back.

On a coach trip home from Wells next the Sea to Nottingham. A planned stop of 20 minutes to use the facilities and grab a quick refreshment. Clean but dated facilities. Plenty of seating and appeared to be a good number of staff if several coaches arrived at once.

Long old business drive and I stopped here for a cracking chicken chips peas gravy and mug of tea. All in 7-90 and proper cooking. Way better than fast food places. Don’t be fooled by the trip back to the eighties this place is great and I got to watch bargain hunt on tv in a no rush friendly place! Bought a sack of spuds on the way out. Top pit stop . Thanks v much. Mach.

Good value food. Handy location on the A17. interior a wee bit twee with farmstyle cottage furniture, plastic tablecloths and artificial flowers but above all its nice and clean. Plenty of choice on the menu, all very reasonably priced with burgers and hotdogs only £1. Lots of cakes to choose from - savoury or sweet scones too. We had bacon baps which were good although why places put butter on i just don’t know! Food came out quickly and was freshly made. The other plates coming out looked great- steak pie, ham egg and chips, you name it it looked very appetising. The service was friendly and efficient enough but without finesse. In fact we joked we were playing bingo as the order numbers were called out whilst they were brought to the table.

It's not the Ritz, but it has damn fine cherry pie. It's got its own thing going on. Clean, friendly and convenient. You can't knock it as it is what it is. I will definitely stop here whenever I'm passing. There is a huge opportunity for location managers wanting an American style, road movie type vibe. Love it.

Nice building. Ambushed by a rude man upon arrival who gave us keys and told us to be at breakfast by 8.30am (Sunday) as thats when they switch fryers off. Whole place stinks of fat and dogs. Door handle to room broken, wooden platform, mattress springs knackered, road noise, a squeeze to get in the shower, no juice at breakfast, but the breakfast is the best part. An ok British breakfast- no other option offered, no jams and butter is flora. The lady at breakfast is far nicer than the young man and the older man who ignores you and rolls his eyes as he walks. Giving two stars as it is cheap compared to other places, perhaps we got the worst room, but will not return to find out
