Falafel King in Kensington and Chelsea

I ordered a takeout, a portion of falafel on pitta 🥙 bread, and yes, it is the best in town. The hummus tasted freshly made, and the falafel was prepared to order. Pitta bread was super soft as well. I spoke to the staff, and she mentioned they are baked daily at a bakery, so that explains why they’re so soft. Very yummy 🤤

Pretty sure Madness filmed their 'Return of the Los Palmas 7' video here when it was the Venus Cafe. Happy days. I dont eat falafel.

Food is awful, the girls in there are rude as anything. Absolutely rotten service and horrible dry food.

The owner snapped at his staff openly in front of customers which created an uncomfortable atmosphere whilst waiting for your food to be prepared. My partner and I bought our falafel and ate at an outside table as there was no space inside. Once we had finished there was no bin anywhere outside for our paper bags and napkins (after searching) so we left them on the table as the inside of the shop was busy with a queue. The owner was also blocking the entrance to where we could get to a bin, staring at us, waiting for us to leave. The business owner then preceded to start shouting at us openly in public for not clearing our table. He continued shouting at us, creating a large scene, pointing his finger, being openly confrontational and aggressive, which was then followed by him making racial slurs towards my partner. It was the worst experience I have ever had at any business in my entire life. The owner is extremely racist as you can read in other reviews. Would not visit again.

Food was nice and the place seems cute but I agree the service was unnecessarily slow and needs improvement.

I came here and am very pleased to say that it was really good. I see many people in the reviews complaining that it takes a long time but that is because the falafels are prepared fresh and it’s given to you as soon as possible, the staff try their hardest to get it to you as soon as possible. it is very delicious and I highly recommend

THE MOST SLOW AND WORST SERVICE IN LONDON, very very very very slow, you waiting half hour for eat a pita bread with cold hummus and falafel, and the just make that imagine if they add something more in the menu!!! WORST SERVICE EVER, check as well the bag when they give you beacuse always missing something

The service at Falafel King is so painfully slow as everyone else mentions. If there are more than 2 people outside, I don't bother waiting and forget it if it's raining because you can't go inside anymore. If you multiply the number of people waiting outside by 10, that's usually the number of minutes you have to wait. 2 people waiting is snowed under here. If it wasn't for the best falafel in London, I would never bother. If it's your first time here, I would just wait because you really need to experience it. The falafels are fresh, the salad and sauces are great, just no urgency or charisma from the staff and it really seems like they cook one order at a time.

Food is amazing but it’s slightly ruined by the rate they work. I have never waited less than 15/20 mins

Food is good...BUT....It takes forever to make. Everytime its 25 - 40 minutes regardless of its busy or not.

This place has been on portabello for as long as I can remember , serving up Israelie style authentic and fresh falafel !

Felafels are nice and more the Israeli round type altho they were quite salty on last visit. Owner has taken advantage of prev covid restrictions and closed the dine-in area and only serves takeaway. Takes a long time to prepare and there's always a long wait due to inefficient preparation and operations. £9 is expensive for a takeaway felafel wrap!

The size portions of the falafels have really decreased from when you were on Portobello Rd and you keep increasing your prices…I know we are in hard times and today i was so shocked realise you increased your price AGAIN within 6 months. It’s good but it’s not that good anymore frankly. You won’t be getting custom from me, the traders around Golborne Rd and my clients! Taking the Micky Mate!

Good falafel salad box. But will say its not the tastiest falafels I've come across - but I won't post my tastiest here as that would be rude! * Hint: Could be more crunchy and have slightly more seasoning/ flavour). But still good and popular spot with a queue outside and lots of custom.

I saw J’s comments further down and have to agree - really good tasting felafel but at £8 for a modestly sized portion is very high I think. My partner and I decided to share one. We asked for it to be cut in half but although the young women staff reluctantly agreed to do it, the manager came out and started shouting about “that’s not how we serve it, it will make a mess on my tables!” Not a friendly attitude but then I suppose his concern was to get us to buy one each (or buy half portions for £5.50) which was never going to happen. The falafel is fresh and tasty though and the pitta breads are authentic Middle Eastern.

I went all the way from East London, only to find out when I got there thats its shut even though Google said its open.

It’s not cheap for the portion size, but the falafels are indeed tasty. The falafels in pitta is great and the free flavoured water is lovely. The annoying thing about this place is how disorganised they are. I arrived today at 12:05pm only to be told they will open in 10 mins. Then 10 mins later they say around another 15 mins or so. If you’ve got somewhere to be on a busy weekday, this is not the place to guarantee a quick and reliable lunch. Today they ended up opening 50 mins after the scheduled Google opening time of 11:30am. They’ve even removed their opening times from the shop front window it seems, probably because they cannot rely on themselves to open on time. They could also do with a bit of decent customer service, which often feels like they are doing you a favour. This seems to be the case for management rather than staff, so probably not going to change anytime soon. …… decent food, but not somewhere I’ll be heading back to anytime soon. They’ve just become way too side ways for me and have become reliant on their long standing brand in the area, which has lead to some laziness and a little arrogance. There’s many better local places.

Had the salad box option. The falafels and hummus are decent, but they're shockingly stingy on the quantities. Each falafel is about half the size of what you'd get anywhere else and there were barely two teaspoons of hummus. I expect *much* more for a £8 takeaway, especially as we're talking about one of the most basic vegan dishes here. Having lived in this area for years, there are many better options around, and these are in no way the "best falafels" as claimed by some other reviewers with obviously low standards. Service needs to cheer up as well - a simple smile would be a good start.

I love falafels, great lunch snack. This places ticks all my boxes. Falafel was tasty and the wait was worth it.

I used to love this place when it was further down the road closer to Portobello market and I was gutted when I found out it was closed. It was only recently that I discovered they were still open but at a different location. Hands down this is the best falafel in London! They are soft, well cooked and not dry (which so many others are) and the homemade hummus is just delicious. This place does simple falafel very well. And the fresh juice you get is so tasty. I love it here

Lovely Falafel very tasty I would have given 5 stars but the portion of 10 falafel were as small as Maltesers no garnish just thrown in a bag very pleased it was a paper bag not a polystyrene container. Again lovely but £5 is way too expensive for what you get.

Incredible falafel. Level above anywhere else. Service needs some work, can be slow/disorganized. But I honestly would wait an hour just to eat their food. So good!

I got a falafel salad box and The falafels were lovely although a tad on the small side if im honest. The salad not so great lettuce was very soggy and not much else to it really!

Excellent hummus and pita bread

Possibly the best Falafels I've ever had in this country. The accompanying salad and sauce was excellent, the staff were pleasant and the food was really fresh, it was made while we waited. All in all the experience was outstanding.

This is a very casual spot on a busy street to have a quick bite and they make very tasty falafels, sometimes you need to queue but worth it

MY favourite lunch place has been Falafel king for a while now. I prefer luck here than subway and mcD or even kfc. They are the BEST.

Siempre nos espera en el coche cuando mi marido va a conseguir los bocadillos. La espera tan larga, pero buen sándwich y dan una limonada gratis, lo cual lo hace una buena oferta.

*UPDATE* Having moved to the area recently, I was disappointed to find Falafel King out of business. Very disappointing! Not sure if it's temporary or permanent nonetheless do not travel all the way - you will be disappointed. - Falafels are prepared fresh and fried right in front of you, their smell reminiscent of an authentic middle eastern kitchen. I opted for the pitta bread meal - it is filled with salad, hummus, tahini, coriander/chilli sauce and a sweet pepper sauce before the falafels go in. Very filling, satiating and authentic. Not bad for £7!

Probably the worst 'chickpea' to 'deep fried oil' ratio in London. There are better falafel sellers along Portobello. Falafel King's are the greasiest and worst of all are served in a thick Greek pitta bread instead of the thinner Arabic bread which I prefer. Falafel balls should be large and fluffy inside with only a thin layer of oil. If you go for smaller balls you consume a lot more oil which is unhealthy. Also they are not generous with the sesamy paste

This is one of the best falafel in LONDON! You can’t go wrong the price is high but worth it! You also get a free lemonade and it is amazing! You must cheek it out

Después de esperar 10 minutos para el falafel, y otras personas que llegaron después de conseguir su comida, cortésmente pregunté cuál fue la demora. Popped in at lunchtime. 5 staff there and almost empty. After waiting 10 minutes for the falafel, and other people who arrived afterwards getting their food, I politely asked what the delay was. The owner was extremely rude and aggressive. Hardly a crime to ask for an update. I left hungry and disappointed. I really didn't deserve that.

Fresquinho, feito na hora, acompanhado de tudo! Um lanche perfeito! Sou bem chata para falafel e achava que só conseguia comer um bom falafel em Israel. Mas o do King é excelente. Com suco de limão para acompanhar, que fica perfeito num dia de calor. Recomendadíssimo! So tem mesas fora (poucas) e um banco dentro. Mas nao costume ser super cheio (pelo menos não sábado, no dia da feirinha de Portobello.

When living in london we used to eat here once a week. The kids loved it so much that I used to buy 50 falafels each visit and freeze them at home and serve heated as snack during the week

Falafel King es un perfecto lugar para comer el día del mercadillo de Portobello. Parece todo muy natural y si hace frío tienes la versión picante de la pita. Dan con ella una limonada pero es basicamente agua. Tiene algunas mesas en la calle, dentro creo que ninguna. Buen precio.

Premetto che il falafel lo adoro qui a Londra in questa vacanza è il 5 che sento in varie zone .locale bello .. pulito luminoso buona qualità delle materie prime mah. Il panino è freddo preso dalla confezione tagliato è riempito insomma siamo a dicembre lo avremmo preferito anche appena scaldato posti a sedere fronte bancone e 2/3 tavolini fuori .. buonissima bevanda limone e menta ., una bevanda che si accompagna da Dio...a questo tipico panino .. che si può scegliere integrale o bianco .. Si è buono .. comunque ..uno stop vale la pena

Nice falafel balls (not amazing), but the sandwich is terrible - just iceberg lettuce and tomatoes with the houmous(!!), chili, and tahini.

Falafel as tasty but are priced high.

Falafel King sells delicous parcels of chickpea goodness, and is a firm favourite of mine where Portobello is crossed by the Westway. Perhaps a tad expensive at £6.50 , although you do get a free house recipe lemonade , occasionally rather slow to serve when busy , but always worth it.

I have had falafel in Paris, Dubai, Beirut, Canada and Kuwait. In each of these places, I have been the supposedly "the best". Falafel King make the best falafel you will ever taste in your life. I get cravings for these falafel. I dream of these falafel at night. I would never have seen myself becoming a falafel maniac, but here I am. If I was told that for the rest of my life I would only be allowed to eat Falafel King falafels, I would say 'Yes please!' Oh and the homemade lemonade and mint tea are pretty great too.

This is simple as simple and this is really good. There is not a lot of choice: Falafel or Falafel. You can have is in a pitta bread (white or brown) or in a box.There are some tables to eat inside and outside as it often sunny there !

Incredibly tasty and simple- they only have 2 things on the menu: Falafels or a falafel pitta both at £6 with a homemade still lemonade thrown in. I went with a couple of work colleagues for lunch- perfect.

Walked in, they had 3 members of staff who all blanked me and carried on peeling and preparing Another customer walked in and was served straight away. Very poor service
