Fakenham Tandoori in North Norfolk

Had not been here for 10 years. Impulse decision and not disappointed. Spotless excellent good value food and attentive and friendly staff. Hugely impressed and thank you for a pleasant and enjoyable evening Won't wait another 10 years!!!

Haven't been here for a long time. Grabbed a takeaway which was ready on time and was really well cooked, so much so that I went back the next night for a second treat!

Delicious meals!! Went with the family for a holiday treat. Had poppadoms all round, tandoori chicken and sheesh kebab starters, mains were korma, roganjosh, dhansak and vindaloo with pilau rice and garlic naan. All the food was perfect! Very flavourful! Breads perfect! Staff friendly It was quiet. We were only ones eating in, but hey! Private dining ! Go visit!!

This had alway been a favourite of mine….. I have no idea what’s happened but it’s nothing like it use to be!! Food was tepid at best, flavourless, bland even!! My naan bread was a joke, dry and stale!! Please get the old chef back. Soo disappointed.

Ordered me and my wife food while staying a week away in Norfolk, the worst Indian I’ve ever had, my Madras I has was like a soup it was so watery, naan bread was so hard it, the onion bhaji was very very dry and had no taste, the sag aloo looked like it had been out on the side for a week, looked old and tasted horrendous, I’ve had some bad curry’s in the past but this was horrendous and the only one worth me giving a review. Avoid if you like Indian food

We found ourselves in Fakenham on a Sunday evening wondering what to do about food. The unassuming Tandoori had lovely smells emanating from it, so that was our choice. How wise! As we arrived, there were a few people waiting for take away and a few eating in. Everyone was friendly and one local said that we would love the food here. Well, we did. We really did. We had poppadoms with the sauces, a prawn puri, a lamb makhani, king prawn dhansak, rice, and breads. A real feast, washed down with a nice bottle of wine. The food was all cooked perfectly and there was plenty. This was good and good value. How brilliant that there is such a good tandoori restaurant in Fakenham. You locals are very lucky....and as evidenced by that conversation when we arrived, some of you know it too. The owner? who served us was really friendly. A real diamond - better thanTiffany's (private joke which he will get). Thanks for a lovely meal that helped to make our evening special.

We had not long moved to Fakenham and had a takeaway from here it was great so when our Grandson came to help with our unpacking we took him in for a meal it was realy great good food loved it

Visited for a family meal- the service was awful, waited over half an hour for drinks, with the food taking an hour. Flies buzzing around our heads. The food mixed grill starter was merely ok, the butter chicken curry was awful ( literally drenched in butter), the lamb curry was not any better. The only good thing was the naan bread and leaving. I really do not understand the reviews for this restaurant on trip advisor, I usually find trip advisor reliable but not this time :(

4 of us had a meal here mid week during a short break in Norfolk. The restaurant is very nicely appointed, and we got a warm and friendly welcome from Diego who was charming and obliging. The food was very reasonably priced, served in a timely manner and was delicious, particularly the chicken tikka starter. If returning to Norfolk, we would visit again.

Had an amazing takeaway from here last year. So looking forward to it again. Unfortunately the garlic chicken mesala was dry chicken, unable to taste any garlic and as for chilli I don't think there was even half a chili in it. Described as hot. It was bland. The bombay potatoes had more fire. Very disappointed.

Not local to the area and was excited to try after reading other reviews. Had to wait an hour for takeaway which is to be expected and we were fine with as it was a Saturday night. However when we got home and had the food the chicken was beyond dry, the rogan Josh was completely flavourless and the madras had no other flavour than spice. On top of this the naan breads were stale and hard. We were extremely excited to try it and really disappointed in the end. Such a shame

Picked up a takeaway, but they forgot our (paid for) poppadums, the onion bhajis had no accompanying salad or raita and my dhal with spinach & paneer was almost sliceable. Will give it another chance before we give up though!

I've been using this restaurant regularly since it opened in the 90's and have never had a bad meal there. In fact, exactly the opposite. Being a curry monster I have eaten in many, many Indian restaurants all over the UK and some overseas and I know that the Fakenham Tandoori is up there with the best - an asset to this lovely provincial market town.The food is fresh and properly cooked and the service is attentive without being over the top. My family and friends love it too so it isn't just me. Long may they continue in business.

The food mostly came in small cheap looking white bowls like a school canteen. Plates were stacked up and you could see the dirty bottoms as they were laid out. Curries looked like yellow soup with chicken bits in them somewhere. Just slopped in the bowl with no care in the presentation. Sag Aloo had a strange skin on the potato. Like they'd been old from another dish. Normally love this, but had one bite and left the rest. Pickle that came with the poppadums was vile. Chicken bone dry. Naan, rice and poppadums were nice. Servers were very polite and welcoming which is why I am giving a 2.

Tried to place an order by phone and were told that they were not taking any as they were too busy. This is the second time this has happened, surely they should review how many staff they have working - A takeaway is not much cop if you cant takeaway

What can I say. From start to finish, the meal ams service was excellent. The staff are very attentive, the food is wonderful and the atmosphere is sublime. Would and will recommend to anyone. Congratulations to u all.

You must try the tandoori chicken wings as a starter, so juicy and a decent sized portion. I don't often feel the need to write a review but these were so good - i shall be returning. I wish the management would do delivery though!

Fakenham tandoori is a nice little Indian restaurant in Fakenham . The service and choice of food was excellent. Our order was taken promptly by the waiter and within a short space of time our drinks followed by our food . Everything was nicely presented and we all enjoyed our meal . Would visit again

We was visiting fakenham and thought where to get a bite to eat. Came across Fakenham Tandoori and looked ok outside , so popped in. There was no one in the restaurant so quiet , no atmosphere and it was cold in the restaurant. We ordered 2 mains , rice and garlic naan. Well where do I start , 1 of the dishes was chicken , I have never eaten such dry tasteless chicken , it was that bad I left all the chicken on my plate as it was awful . The other dish was Lamb , again oh my god it was so hard and dry . Both dished were not made from scratch or with fresh meat . What a waste of money . I will never eat there again and if ask I will advise people not to eat there. It's not worth even a 1 star rating.

After the festivities in Fakenham we went for a curry to warm up. Friendly welcome, great choice and good service in a pleasant environment. Would definitely return if in the area and recommend it to friends.

Monday night booking, wasn't expecting it to be busy but it was, which was excellent as an empty restaurant sucks atmosphere. The service from the start was brilliant and the food was equally brilliant. Cannot fault and will be back. Thank you.

Been here a lot this month and never been disappointed staff are very nice and the food has some amazing taste. Had chicken korma with coconut rice which tasted amazing and one of the best ones I have had so far. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes India

Three of us fancied an Indian meal and it was an excellent choice for us to go to this restaurant. We all chose different dishes and enjoyed the food very much. The service was good and we felt relaxed being there. Look forward to returning when we revisit Fakenham.

On a recommendation we booked an early evening table for 4 adults and 2 children. We were not disappointed. Good food, well presented and served.

Visited on a quiet Thursday evening. The chick peas, spinach and cheese dish I requested was tasty but I expected paneer and it had cheddar melted on top! Strange but tasty so can only comment not complain, everything else as expected. Friendly staff and pleasant environment.

Use this for takeaways , only wished they opened a little earlier for takeaways like 5pm, but food always good and very,very polite service.

We were on holiday in the area and stumbled across this little restaurant. Excellent choice and compared to south of London good price. Service was a little slow and absent at times despite restaurant not overly busy and waiters appearance was a little shabby-dirty waistcoat. Food was very good, flavoursome and worth wait.

My partner and I visited this restaurant just on the off chance as the reviews for the food were very good. The food was very tasty and the flavours sublime, the service was also good, there is a young lad working there and his manners and service were impeccable so all round a very good meal with great service and if we are in Fakenham again we will definately visit this restaurant.

Expected me to wait 75 minutes for a takeaway. Not great, quicker to drive to Indian Summer in Swaffham

After a disappointing look around Fakenham on a drizzly Monday evening for somewhere to eat, we decided to go the extra few yards to Fakenham Tandoori as it had good reviews. Great choice! We were warmly welcomed, the guy serving ensured our food arrived quickly as we were booked into the cinema and everything was delicious, hot and good portions. The very clean and pleasant surroundings, friendly staff and really good value food made our evening.

Holidaying nearby so collected a takeaway. Wasn’t ready when we arrived (50mins after ordering) so had to wait and then it was cold when we drove 5 minutes back to the holiday house.

Me and a friend visited recently, they have a lovely restaurant but we wanted to get home and get comfy and eat so we had a takeaway, brilliant menu with lots of choice, good prices and so delicious, such value for money, big portions! Didn’t have to wait long and they throw in some free popadoms! Lovely friendly staff what more could you ask for?!

This is a good, no frills Indian in downtown Fakenham. They don't have any competition in town - Brick Lane it isn't . However, the service is good, the interior comfortable and the food very good. We don't often go in and usually have take outs but eating in is definitely better. The lamb tikka was particularly good and for an evening out with a group of friends it was just right.

We were staying in Wells-next-the-sea with our horses and decided that what we needed after a gallop on the beach was a good curry! We were surprised that the nearest curry house was on Fakenham! We went early in the evening but we enjoyed the welcome we had and thought that the food was very tasty and the service was polite. My friend ordered a vegetarian paneer dish off menu and she was very pleased with it. A very tasty good value for money meal with very good service.

Called in on a Friday night to order a take away, food was ready in about an hour. When we got home the food was still hot and all was very tasty.

We visited twice in the space of a couple of weeks. On the first occasion we had an excellent meal, well spiced and plenty of it. Service was as always attentive and by going mid-week the kitchen was not overwhelmed by take-aways as I have found it to be at the weekend.

Fakenham Tandoori surprises you when you walk in because from the exterior you expect a more traditional older styled interior but it's a very modern setting. The food was lovely but our only problem was how long it took ti get served. We booked a table for 6 people @ 730pm and on arriving were served drinks and poppadoms. The starters followed about half an hour later and our main courses didn't arrive until 915. We chatted to a couple on the next table who told us that they were regulars there and never ordered starters because of the time it took to get served. They said that the the restaurant gave priority to take away customers and on previous visits they had heard restaurant customers complain about the time taken to be served.

The two of us found the service courteous and the surroundings pleasant but found the food somewhat lacking and not particularly good value for money.Disinclined to re-visit, sorry!

Here for the second time in three months. Food is amazing. My parents come here weekly as they live locally. Can’t recommend this place enough. You seriously will not be disappointed at all. Try it out!

Came to here to celebrate hubby's birthday after hearing a good review from a friend. We both love Indian food and thought to give it a try. Service was busy and we had to wait, but waiters provided us with starters and drinks. The meals were delicious and cooked to perfection, and the prices were very good for what we bought.

Have been a few times over the last few years always rate 10 out of 10

The waiter was friendly and had a chat and a joke with us. First time of visiting. The food was fantastic, so tasty. Poppadoms so light and melted in your mouth. Prawn purée was to die for. I will certainly be returning. The restaurant is not the greatest decor wise but clean and comfortable. Will also be trying take-always in the future.

Visited on a Saturday evening. Asked for early table, 7.30 was the earliest they could offer so we arrived in good time, but had to wait until the take-away customers were served. Ordered about 8 pm , food arrived just before 9. Pity they prioritize take away customers over restaurant customers. Food was good. Some dishes were not as hot as expected but on the whole tasty and decent portions.

I visited the restaurant with my husband and 3 children (7, 5 & 2) just after 6pm. The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived and we hoped for a relatively speedy meal as the children were tired. Drinks arrived promptly but the food took forever. When it did arrive it tasted great.Our waiter wasn't particularly friendly and seemed quite irritated by us - despite the kids being pretty well behaved! The plates were also incredibly hot which was fine for the adults but when we asked for cold plates for the children we were told they didn't have any? Food was well priced. If I wanted an Indian meal again I think we would order take away from there instead as they were clearly prioritising the take out orders above looking after the customers they had in the restaurant.

Working in fakenham for a while and decided to have a curry. The food was lovely and was super tasty.But the service was slow and not that friendly, the restaurant was empty at the time. So the staff were not rushed off their feet. The restaurant it's self was clean and fairly modern. Worth a visit. Just don't expect to be welcomed with open arms.

I have to say we go as a family with a four year old and nothing is to much trouble for them they try to accommodate even the fussiest of palates even a four year olds aside from that the food is the best we've tried at an Indian restaurant all freshly cooked to order very very clean and so polite they put some of us to shame they can't do enough for you if you do happen to have any complaints it will be rectified straight away with a discount on your bill we have been twice as a family and will definitely be going again but be advised to book on the weekend and bank holidays they also do a great takeaway.

So grateful to have Fakenham Tandoori a few minutes drive from us! Their dishes are always bursting with flavours and they are not afraid to be authentic. The Chicken Dansak is delicious, the sauce just sufficient chilli heat to give it that zest. I love their Lamb Jalfrezi. Again tasty and spices well balanced. Meat tender. Their Biriyani dishes are generous and always tasty! Very warm and friendly service.

Booked to go here Saturday night for 6 of us . Very friendly service from our waiter BUBA who speedily took our order . The drinks arrive fairly promptly but a long wait for the food to arrive but was very tasty when it did . All the plates were tasty and emptied swiftly . The final bill was very reasonable for a party of 6 with drinks included so no complaints there . Just a little slow to get the food to you .

The food was perfectly acceptable, some dishes very good, avoid the chapatis which come in a plastic bag and are soggy. Marked down as the main waiter was sweating so much and acting oddly it was very off putting

Admittedly this was in Fakenham- which is not exactly an urban metropolis, nevertheless Fakenham Tandoori failed to impress. The food was adequate, and tasty enough, but service was average and the overall experience was unremarkable.For a town with very little alternative, this establishment will survive with limited if any competition. Could do better.

We found ourselves at the Fakenham Tandoori a little by accident as our planned restaurant was closed however we were so glad we did!All of the food was incredibly tasty, we'd particularly recommend the Bombay aloo, onion bajhis and meat samosas.We ordered enough food that we were both struggling to finish and were astounded to find our bill was under £30!Service was friendly and we will certainly be returning when we are next in Norfolk!

We visited for the first time and our initial reaction was one of pleasant surprise at the modernity, comfort and cleanliness of the restaurant. More importantly, the food (a Vegetable Biriyani and a Lamb Dhanssk) was excellent- fresh and well cooked. And the service was unobtrusive and helpful. We shall certainly return.

North Norfolk was a bit scarce for good indian foods! UNTIL we found this little restaurant in Fakenham. We are now once a monthers and enjoy all dishes. They will also make your dish if you know the name or ingrediants!

Seriously a disappointing meal. Quality of food poor, oily and little comparison to real Indian cuisine. The sit down meal was overpriced. Perhaps if decide to try again a takeaway. Right now will not be revisiting.

Met family here on a Saturday night as a birthday surprise .... we were a large party and service was very slow to begin with but once food arrived it was fabulous .... all food very tasty and very filling !! Would highly recommend as was worth the wait oh and the staff are very polite too .... big thumbs up

Stayed in Fakenham for a few days and tried this place. Service was friendly and pleasant. My wife and I ordered two different dishes and both were hot (temp not spice) and tasty. Good portions and we really enjoyed.. Price including drinks was very reasonable. Well worth a visit if you like Indian food. Only let down was toilet areas upstairs were tired and grubby.. Not the right end to the night..But in fairness, it did seem the place was about to be decorated, just hope they painted the loo's and keep them clean..
