Looked online to check opening times before going and all said open at 09:00. Arrived at the cafe just after 9 and door was locked with a closed sign on it. Waited a few minutes as thought they were running a bit late for opening which was OK. My partner then asked through the open window around the side what time they were open and he got the reply '9 O'clock' 'Oh it's seven minutes past now' was my partners reply to the person who had replied, who didn't respond further. We waited a few more minutes until someone unlocked the front door and turned the sign around from closed to open then just let the door slam shut. No communication or apology from this member of staff for not opening on time, which we both thought was very rude and didn't make us feel like we wanted to part with our money to a place whose employees obviously weren't bothered. We decided to take our custom to Toby carvery for one of their buffet breakfasts which is only 5 minutes away. We then came back to the lake for a walk around and had a lovely drink from the RSPB visitor centre and a lovely chat with the staff there.

Very busy as it was lunchtime in the school holidays. Find a table, note the number then queue up to order and pay. The long queue took about 10 minutes to serve. We had a stool seat in the small dirty window. The young girls serving were pleasant, helpful and efficient. I had the burger and chips at £13.50 It was tasteless and the chips were few in number and felt like the scrapings from the leftovers. My friend had the full breakfast at £11, which didn’t look good value for money to me. Disappointing. The staff in the kitchen looked frazzled. St Annes resident first visit.

Fantastic location right in the side of the lake and fairly well stocked ! Food looks ok but only had ice cream n nibbles. Very short tempered manager and regimental feel. Closed too early and seems more concerned about stopping non customers using the toilets than making your stay pleasant. I think maybe the owner should have been a doctors receptionist or grumpy school teacher. Tables outside are left unclear for far too long. Ice creams are good though but make sure you stand in line correctly and don’t smile 😊

This cafe only allows dogs in in a designated corner which is about 6 tables. At the end of each table clearly on a little plaque on the wall it states “dogs and their owners only at this table” plus on these tables there is a sticker which is clear to read repeating for dogs and their owners only. Recently went in for lunch with our dog and all of these said tables were occupied with not one set of people having a dog with them. Very selfish on their part as plenty of tables they can sit at in the cafe where we can’t. Somebody sitting at one of the tables blatantly turned the plaque around and thought it a joke to do that. It left us nowhere to sit so walked out. We pointed this out to a staff member who wasn’t at all interested.Friends have also experienced this and don’t go in there anymore. What’s the point in putting this rule into place if they are not going to enforce it.

Food was ok. A bit on the expensive side. Staff didn’t seem to have any interest in being there. Not rude, just blank and said next to nothing. Menu isn’t great - all fish items are marked as vegetarian, when they quite obviously aren’t. I’m vegetarian so I then wasn’t sure I could trust the other dishes that were marked!

The last who served us was absolutely lovely and made us feel very welcome. The only reason I haven't give 5 stars as I feel the toilet facilities could do with some money spending in them. Visited for lunch with a friend. Not a good sign when a cafe in this location is only half full at lunchtime on a beautiful day. A depressing place to eat with its dated furniture. The table appeared clean but was greasy to touch. Yuk. Thank goodness for baby wipes. Hopefully the proposed refurb by FBC will bring the dining area into the 21st century. The food had no appeal, bread dry and not much salad with the ham salad. Poor value for money. Earliest this week I enjoyed lunch at The Cafe Royal in Fleetwood. The kitchen manager of Fairhaven Lake cafe could learn a lot from a trip to Fleetwood. It's sad to see what was once a popular venue on a trip to Lytham seem to be on the decline. I used to visit regularly with my children, but I won't be going back.

Take a look at my reviews and you’ll notice I’ve eaten for £200 per head as well as at McDonalds. I do, therefore, have an expectation given my experience of what a chicken BLT should offer between a cafe and a restaurant. I received an awful, dry, cold toasted thing! With a few crisps on the plate. My local sandwich bar does far better at £3.50 and that’s hot or cold. In Manchester centre you have numerous options at the well healed bars for circa £8-10. That’s central Manchester and the places are aiming high. It’s the problem with having a captive audience that cafes abuse the opportunity and tend to lose customers for this reason.

I had a sausage barm, the barmcake was large but with only two thin sausages cut lengthways in half there was a lot of barmcake with nothing on! we called today for what we expected would be an enjoyable meal, on arrival we looked at the menu and decided to both have the steak pie. At the counter we both chose two cakes for the sweet and two coffees, then ordered two steak pie meals. When our meals arrived we were presented with two meals and two plates of vegatables, at which point i asked if we could have some gravy. I was told gravy was extra and that i would have to go back to the counter and buy some ?. Two points to make, firstly if gravy was extra should not this have been pointed out at the point of sale, secondly we are not new to the world of eating out, indeed we are both in our fifties, and have never ever had a meal of this type where gravy is extra !. two gravy boats (small) cost £1.90. sorry to say this spoilt our experience and we shall not be returning as lack of service, or worse adding price to meals like this is not good, and I repeat, serving a dish like this without gravy is something i have never encountered ever. I have done this review because if at the time i had complained nothing would change and would hope someone will listen and things improve.

Firstly the food in here is good, so no complaints. However, for a busy restaurant like this the toilet facilities are appalling! I was out with my elderly disabled mother and grandson of two. There is only one ladies and one gents toilet inside, I did not see any baby changing facility at all. The toilets are in a corner near the kitchen where staff are continually coming through with food and dirty dishes to go down the corridor whilst people are hudled up queuing. The cleanliness of these toilets once you get in leaves very much to be desired. I could not even see a disabled toilet for my mother so I asked a member of staff who said they would get the key and take us to it as it was outside! I found this unacceptable, we were like we were being escorted to the naughty corner! It was a fair walk for someone with a stick, and in the winter would be awful. Once in there the dirty stench was disgusting and there was no soap in the automated machine. I really think this cafe should be updated for the facilities, as it is always busy and must make a fair profit.

We have been here a couple of times and the cakes are lovely and they do bonds ice cream so that's good. However, the staff are by and large quite rude and/or surly. The exceptions are two young lads that work there. Even the people I think are the owners are abrupt and seem like they can't be bothered. And the man that brings the food out sometimes all but throws it on the table. Also the meals are over priced (especially the kids sandwich) in my opinion. My least favourite encounter was yesterday - the ice cream kiosk had the open sign flashing and the swing sign out so we waited - people went past the window and seemed to look at us but no one opened the hatch. We knocked - same thing. My son thought someone was waving and meemoing at us but we couldn't see very well through the window into the dark interior. How rude!! It wouldn't have been hard to open the window a crack and speak to us. Not impressed.

I really don't like leaving bad reviews but today was quite disappointing. We secured a table outside as we had the dog with us. We ordered fish, chips and mushy peas. It was so bland. The chips tasted funny, like the oil needed changing. The fish was a decent size but it was swimming in grease. The batter was really greasy. I ate the fish in side which wasn't bad. Wasn't worth the cost though. Also wasn't impressed with the one ladies toilet seemingly between 2 kitchen areas, waitresses carrying plates of food to and fro, not ideal....

Stopped off here for a quick meal with family. Clean and busy. Basic food but done to a good standard. Lovely view of the lake and an exceptional play area for the children. Allowed dogs inside too.

We visited here for breakfast whilst staying nearby and really enjoyed the whole experience. The full English breakfasts were delicious as were the poached eggs on toast. The menu had something for everyone with sandwiches, lunches and a yummy range of scones and cakes. Set by the side of the lake it was a little too windy to sit outside this time unfortunately.

We visited some friends nearby and as they had not visited the café previously suggested we calledfor lunch. I have previously been lots of times both as a member of a walking group and with myhusband. As the menu said Chefs home made corned beef hash I was tempted to order this but when it arrived it was a very small amount accompanied by almost the same amount of peas and at £7.95 was just not worth the money, and I can`t repeat what my husband said it looked like. It did not look at all appetising and looked like they had almost run out but just managed to eke another portion. Our friends did not comment as they were too polite but Susan`s baked potato was really small and the skin was tough and there is no excuse for such a simple and easily made dish . The steak pie which we had both previously enjoyed was chosen by my husband and he said the meat was shredded and mainly gravy and not in chunks as previously. I have a feeling the owners have changed and it is such a shame as the café is in a lovely situation and we were really surprised as it was nearly empty which was very unusual at lunchtime on a Friday. My grandchildren loved the treat of going to the café in the school holidays, and unfortunately I will have to find another nearby as the holidays are nearly here. I have never made a negative review previously and have not done it without great thought.

What a lovely traditional cafe. Visited yesterday for breakfast and the prices were very reasonable and it was served very fast. There are lots of windows so you can see the lake no matter where you are sitting. All the staff were friendly and very considerate. There is a nice park too which my little boy loved. We will visit with the dog next time because there is a little indoor porch bit for dogs to sit with their owners. We will definitely be visiting again.

We've called here a few times. Just a brew was fine, but a meal was just not up to scratch. We may try again another time, but for now a brew and a cake will do just fine.

I've visited this cafe a few times and always enjoyed the meal I've had. They sell breakfast, lunch and cakes. There is seating outside for dog owners. I think there's also an indoor area dogs are allowed in but I'm not sure. There's a play area for children. It overlooks Fairhaven Lake which is pretty and has lots of geese.

really nice popular cafe especially with locals. Quite a lot of proper homemade food which was lovely, hot and well presented. Only fault was their cardboard tasting frozen chips !! (sorry this is a pet hate of mine ).plenty of choice in both hot and cold food, great for children, lovely to sit outside on a nice day and they sold proper old fashioned milky coffee not just all that lattes and cappachino stuff.Would happily reccomend.

I always have the steak pie when I visit here. It's rammed full of good quality steak with plenty of gravy, served with new potatoes and a side dish of veg. Always the same, piping hot and plentiful. The fresh fruit salad tart is also very good. Service is quick and the young staff who bring the food out are all really friendly. In fact, there isn't one thing that I don't like about the place !

What's happened? This is a lovely place for family's and all ages we visit quite a lot but I think cut backs are in place .I must say we had an apology and a drink offer but it doesn't hide the fact that on a cheese and tomatoes toastie the tomatoe was cut so thinly and 1 single cheap slice of cheese was placed centrally ,don't mind paying if we get a tasty snack .Please use grated cheese we like to enjoy our food .

Called in for a coffee when walking along the seafront. Hadn't been before, but have already returned on more than one occasion, coffee was excellent. Lovely cakes too! As a Lytham resident, it possibly might not be our first choice, but that's only because it is likely to be a hotspot for visitors.

This is the closest cafe to where we live. We've been before but not for a while as we now have a dog. Dogs are allowed in a narrow area at the end of the cafe, which is ok for two people but can't accommodate normal/family sized tables. We came without the dog and had full English breakfast, which is available until 11. The cafe used to allow item swaps (e.g. Mushrooms for hash brown) but no longer does so, although still allowed orange juice instead of tea/coffee. Reasonable value at £5.95 (two slices bacon, 1 sausage, half tomato, beans, mushrooms, hash brown, 1 slice toast and a drink). We considered having a cake but to be honest the selection was limited and not as tempting as those at Lowther Gardens. As it stands, the cafe's main asset is it's great location by Fairhaven lake. Inside, it's old fashioned/tired and the food is nothing to write home about.

Lovely little cafe. Very busy but plenty of tables. Good selection of food, the cakes are a nice size. I had the Victoria sponge and hubby had the apple pie with proper apple pieces and light pastry. Price is reasonable and a lovely view of the lake. RSBP shop more or less next door with Easter activities for the kids.

This cafe hasn't changed at all inside for the past 25 years.still the same decor and furniture etc. Needs a revamp but is a nice cozy cafe to grab a brew or a snack in. Has plenty of seating and a good view of the lake outside. Seating is also available outside with the children's new play park next door so you can sit and have a brew whilest watching your children play. Staff are pleasant and efficient. Waiting on staff are always on hand to clear pots away and tidy up as people leave. I've not eaten here only had a brew but it was served nicely and my little one enjoyed her ice cream.

We recently visited St. Anne's and decided to have a bite to eat at the Fairhaven Lake Cafe.My husband ordered a full English breakfast which came with a cup of coffee and a slice of toast with butter and marmalade. It must be said that when the full breakfast arrived it was somewhat overcooked and the mushrooms were cremated. The sausage was a bit of a let down and the fried egg was burnt around the edge.I ordered a toasted tea cake with a cup of tea, and when it arrived it was NOT toasted correctly.I also purchased a scone - which was OK.A point to note is the gents toilet had NO toilet roll and the waste bin had NOT been emptied, and this was at 11am!Needless to say, we will NOT be returning to this cafe.

Last time we visited this cafe, whilst on holiday in the area, this particular salad was excellent. This time it was very bland and a bit insignificant. My partner opted for fish and chips, which was a better choice. Can only suggest that the weather being so bad, and there not being many diners around that the standard had been allowed to slip.

Upon visiting this cafe we found it spacious with a lovely view of the lake due to the large windows. It was resonably easy to wheel my mother into as in a wheelchair. Two of us ordered soup and bagettes but the choice of soup was only one (pea and ham) which was not nice and the bagettes were OK. Had a custard tart which also had no flavour. First time eating here so have not tried any of the other food but do not think we will bother, it is OK though for a drink.

Mainly because its in the park !!!Its OK and I have seen plenty of food being served but it just feels a bit dated and works canteen in feel. But, it serves its audience and will serve me again next time we go for a walk...

Had a fabulous lunch here on a quiet Monday. Took my dog who was spoiled rotten by the staff. Had a beautifully cooked seabass and my friend opted for a steak sandwich which she said was perfect. Our visit for an afternoon tea was very disappointing. Yes, we arrived early and they greeted us well, but the food wasn't up to our usual expected standard. I sent my supermarket stale scone back and they brought me the same again. Why couldn't they bake their own. I thought the small cake selection were bought in as well, so not a good experience for my friends birthday celebration. Would not be a returning customer
