Everyman York in York

Everything you’d expect from an Everyman. Good service, comfy seats nice atmosphere. Ate in the restaurant beforehand and the vegan burger fries was very good. The “1216” burger was absolutely excellent and would highly recommend. Prices are reasonable, around £20 per person for a burger fries and soft drink.

Very quiet tonight but great for our personal space. Comfy seats are great. If you're planning a movie night.and you're in the area you should consider going here. Staff were very friendly too!

We visited in August from out of town. Prices were no more expensive than home. Staff were friendly but more interested in the conversation they were having between themselves. The cinema has an unpleasant smell, hard to put my finger on it but it’s the first thing I noticed. The screen rooms aren’t properly darkened when the film starts. We took our own drinks and snacks so didn’t have any there however, the family beside me did. A family with very young children who were given open glasses of water. There is a very small table between seats for said drinks. I was anxious the whole time I was going to end up with a glass of water spilt on my knee. Children should be given drinks in lidded cups. Wasn’t the most comfortable experience unfortunately.

Can't wait to see a film here. We only stopped for a drink and nibbles on a Wednesday after work and it was so comfy and welcoming. We sat in the middle area in front of the bar on a sofa and chair side. The speaker above was a bit too loud to hold a conversation but I asked politely if it could be adjusted and he ran off immediately to do this for us, didn't even hesitate. We ordered nachos with guac and the salt and pepper squid. It was fresh and full of flavour and presented nicely with a good portion, delicious! We paid for this and that however we liked, the staff were casual and accommodating. You may pay more here but it's worth it. Such a nice atmosphere. You can Google the building's history too for an extra layer of experience. I will certainly be back and will recommend to anyone (and Everywoman hehe).

Love this cinema..... Taking me back to the comfortable days of great cinema. The setting is classy with a great welcoming bar where you can order food, drinks and cinema tickets. The service is outstanding and on my visit I enjoyed pizza and fries that were great. Choosing a armchair to watch the movie is great.... Comfy us an understatement.... Its Everyman and Chill

The seats were very comfortable and the food and drink service was excellent. However, we went to watch Inside Out 2 and there was a very drunk couple next to us heckling for the whole movie (it was about 7pm on a Friday). The responsibility should not have been with the customers, but rather the staff to remove the drunk loud couple from a children’s film. I tried to contact the company via their website to raise this internally to raise this internally, but received no response. I’m very happy to pay a premium for a better experience, but in this case the experience was completely ruined and the staff did nothing about it. To pay around £30 for two of us and have a terrible experience was very disappointing.

Went to see Beetlejuice last night, got welcomed in by Karl who was very nice and told us where to go, then later got served by George who brought our drinks. Very good experience

Most definitely a good cinema experience and beautifully refurbished. Staff helpful and attentive made everyone feel welcomed.. Unfortunately this comes at a expensive admission price especially at weekends and it's for most a special occasion visit rather than a weekly visit to the cinema. If admission prices where lower than would visit more often here as its without doubt the best cinema in York.

Always enjoyable trip to the cinema, staff are super helpful and friendly, food is enjoyable with lots of choice served right to your chair, overall the cinema is well cared for, with each screen cleaned after each viewings. Top notch little cinema at a very fair and reasonable price.

Went there yesterday as we had to wait until 11 pm for a train arrival. Very nice and helpfull staff. I was somewhat doubtfull about the viewing experience as Screen 4 is quite small but I really enjoyed the movie. Kudos to the staff who cleans up afterward.

We recently stayed in York for my birthday and went to the Everyman York two days in a row. What an amazing cinema experience! We were in screen 1 first which is the largest screen and our seats were so comfy. Being able to order food and drinks to your chair is such a bonus. We also went to screen 4 which is a very small and cosy screen. It felt like we were having our own private screening as no one sat in front of us. All the staff we met were super friendly and helpful. I only wish we lived nearer to this cinema as it is now my favourite place in the world.

The staff were friendly and it has a good atmosphere. Booked my tickets with ease. The downside was that the screen is quite small in the screening that we were in, but overall a good experience

Amazing as always. The team is just fantastic. It's lovely to be treated like a person and feel like it's a proper experience. They also now have QR codes at the seat so that you can order when you find your seat.

Fantastic cinema! Their large screen is how a cinema should be, full of theatre, and their smaller screens are beautifully intimate.

Not cheap in the slightest but the best boujee cinema in York. Great drinks, service and comfy sofa seating

Went to see fall guys and one of the workers(had green hair didn’t catch her name) was really helpful with looking at allergies and made the experience all the better. Food was good and the entire experience was better than expected.

Overcooked popcorn. Also said they couldn’t find me even though I told them where I was sat… and I pre booked. Go to Sainsbury’s next door and save your money

My friends and I LOVE coming to the Everyman York. The staff are always really lovely - especially Rose - and the experience on the whole is always incredible!

It was a bit more expensive than a normal cinema experience, but this was a treat. Very comfortable 2 seater chairs and smaller than a normal cinema so it's a little more cosy. Having hot food served during the screening was a bonus. The 1216 burger was one of the best burgers I've had in a while.

I’ve been reluctant to write this review as it’s been a few weeks since this happened however I feel the need to share my bad experience here. I went here on a Friday at around 12:30pm for some lunch with friends, I went in got seated lady took our order food arrived quick however after we finished our main meal is when we started to have problems. Around 20 minutes after we finished our main meal we decided we wanted to order some dessert and settled on cookie dough we waited around 5 minutes to see if someone would come check on us as at this point the last time staff came to see us was mid way through our meal asking if everything was ok our plates were not taken so I decided to just go down to the bar and order it. Once I arrived at the bar no one was there and I was looking around when I saw a man on a laptop just staring at me so I just went back upstairs to get one of my friends to help me find the lady that served us. My friend came down and pointed to the man that was staring at me and said “I think he’s staff because that’s were the lady was also sat” we went over to the guy asked if he was staff He nods so we ask if we can order some cookie dough he says yeah so we go to the bar order it WE WAITED 30 MINUTES after ordering for the lady to come and tell us that they’ve had to make it fresh and it will be here soon she sounded like she was annoyed at us for ordering it at this point she saw our dirty plates stacked up and didn’t bother to take them, and even worse we got no apologies for the wait. Anyway 10 minutes later the ‘cookie dough’ arrives if was not in fact cookie dough it was just 2 cookies merged together in a small dish at this point I at-least thought they would maybe discount some money off for us but then didn’t we just leave after finishing the ‘cookie dough’.

Went to see bad boys for my birthday yesterday, the film was good but the food wasn’t worth the money and we left feeling disappointed with what we received . Spent £60 for a meal, snacks and drinks and that’s not even including the cost of the tickets!! We went earlier and had burgers in the restaurant before the film and the burgers were pouring grease onto the plate, so ended up leaving majority of it. The chips were boring and nothing special. They didn’t bring us any cutlery or napkins so we had to go and sort ourselves. I was told they don’t accept cash but there’s nothing on the website to tell us this. Ordered a cookie dough for during the film, all the bottom of the cookie was burnt and we ended up not eating any of our popcorn as it was too soft and rubbery. We won’t be going here again, the food just isn’t worth the money.

Love this place. The baby cinema is a wonderful experience and the staff are so friendly and helpful.

Love this place we t to see the new Amy Winehouse movies so comfy a little expensive but much better environment than other chain cinemas

A top class cinema experience, would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to go for a 'date night'. The seats are really comfortable, the staff are very friendly, and the food and drinks are brilliant.

Had such a wonderful cinematic experience made even more special by Ayla and Jack for their welcoming spirit and warm hospitality. Shame Rose wasn’t on shift as we had a lovely experience with her and now visit regularly because of the staff!

We were greeted with a warm welcome by Sam we ordered drinks I told him my hands couldn’t grip very well so he said I will put your coffee in a taker way cup which was easier for me then offered to take us up to our screen after the film had finish he asked us if enjoyed the film and chatted for a few minutes I think Everyman is lucky to have such a nice member of staff

We went to see Bob Marley film on Easter Sunday. Great Art Deco building with leather sofas and side tables making watching the film very comfortable. The staff here are amazing and very welcoming. They even gave us free cocktails which were delicious. Many thanks for giving us such a great experience.

The staff always gives a warm welcome: a real treat with luxury seating in a cozy atmosphere. If you haven't had time to eat, then there's a great menu with waiting service at your seats. I love Throwback Sundays with the complimentary drink and popcorn.

Visited this Everyman several times and can definitely recommend seeing a film on Screen 1 as the space and screen are huge! For comparison, I'd been to the Everyman in Birmingham and had been pretty underwhelmed by that experience.

Layout is a bit tricky, our screen was quite small but still nice. Food was good but hard to know what to do with the empty trays in the dark

Actually came here for the James bond quiz(which we won, thank you😉) beautiful old cinema, with a lovely retro vibe. Drinks are not cheap, but that's to be expected in the centre of York. Highly recommend

Sitting in a comfy sofa with your little table and having your food and drinks brought to you while you watch a movie makes for a great cinema experience. The staff are lovely, the food is really good and it is overall a brilliant atmosphere.

Staff friendly. However the cinema rooms are not as comfortable as the purpose built Everyman cinemas elsewhere.

A great cinema, really well done inside. The ticket prices are decent, especially if you are student/concession and always showing the latest films. Food however is hit and miss - the chocolate is very poor quality, but the burger is good. The service is quite poor and is definitely not cautious with food intolerances/allergies so do be very careful! Overall a great concept however understaffed and undertrained. Also there is clearly a big issue with mould in the upstairs small screen which must be addressed.

The food was basic and too expensive, the service was slow but friendly. The restaurant also had a general smell of strong vinegar which was quite unappealing.

Lack of organization in the staff team. Lower quality food and drinks for a relatively high price. However, the seats were comfortable and it was great to have two-person seats.

Wow! Never been in an everyman cinema before! This has completely changed my cinematic experience for the better! With a really good selection of old & new films to watch, I will definitely be visiting again when in York!

The big theater (1) was amazing theater (4) was still ok but going from 4 to 1 was a drastic change couldn’t believe how big the theater was

Fab Art Deco cinema . Really nice friendly helpful staff - delivering our food and drinks order to our seats . Everyman offers comfy sofas each with a side table and cushions. Great experience all round. Definitely a place to go

Really nice old theatre in the heart of York, The food bought to your seat was amazing. Highly recommended

We visited on 9th November and bought a couple of sundaes. Unbeknown to me, the bottom of the sundae glass was broken and chocolate ice cream dribbled onto my brand new Marino jumper. Luckily I did not swallow any of the glass. The server gave me a refund and advised I contact the manager via email, regarding my jumper. I contacted the manager the next day and was told to take my jumper to the dry cleaners and they would pay the bill and offered me two free tickets for the cinema. The stain did not come out. I have contacted the York manager Jack Leonard-Morgan, on three further occasions, showing the bill and the stain on the jumper. He has totally ignored my emails. So very disappointed. We used to be regular visitors of Everyman and sang their praises to everyone. We won’t be visiting again!!

Most expensive bar in the entirety of York Comfy sofas and a large screen ( screen as per every other cinema in the world) the novelty of the sofa would only be justified if the drinks bill included taking it home ! First time here since it was the Odean. Great to see what they did to screen 1. Was a bit chaotic when we arrived, but it was to see hunger games, so it was probably a but stretched for staff

Really enjoyed watching five nights of freddys here a couple of weeks ago. Rose was particularly a fantastic help! She was a very attentive and friendly staff member. Would definitely go again :)

We loved our visit to this cinema - it's so nice having sofas and nicely decorated cinema rooms! Would definitely come here over Odeon/Vue when possible, so much more relaxed and intimate.

I LOVE this cinema experience. So opulent.. great staff, delicious food delivered right to your seat! The vegan burger and sweet potato fries are SO tasty, with a beer in a nice glass.. add a great movie and I'm in heaven. Excellent in everyway.

Visited here twice whilst I was staying at a close by hotel chain and saw Dumb Money and the Old Oak in October 2023 - staff were great - an expensive but enjoyable luxury - food and drinks can be ordered and delivered to your seats but you can take them in - staff friendly

Wonderful cinema. Saw the re-release of 'Stop Making Sense' here and I was impressed all around by the interior, seating, and quality of the trailers shown. It's nice to visit a cinema that doesn't typically resort to playing trailers for children's films before a 'PG' film. Quick and efficient customer service and great toilets, no issues to raise honestly!

Just hope you don't have someone of normal adult height in front of you, part of whatever film you watch will be the back of someones head. Also, furnace like temperatures so, shorts and t-shirt regardless of season.

The seats were quiet uncomfortable (clearly ready for replacement) the popcorn was stale and wasn't an over all great experience next time I'll stick to normal cinema's much more comfy

Pretty disappointed. £25 for a warm glass of rosé and a film that lost sound halfway through. Sound was restored after about 15 mins, but it was the utterly insincere tone of “thanks for your patience” on the way out, that really ruined the experience. I’ll think twice before going again.

Beautiful art-deco building!! Very nice inside - comfortable armchairs, place where you can put your drinks and food. Nice cafe with tasty food we had after watching movie.

Unfortunately upon arrival a rude member of staff took all of our drinks and sweets and then when we went upstairs to buy some sweets the sweet/ popcorn section was shut so we had to sit through a 3 hour film starving and thirsty thanks to a nosey member of staff peeking in my pockets! Not very good service ☹️

What a great cinema! We watched the film in a comfy, cosy room with food and drinks brought to us (!). We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and it's our favourite cinema in York!

Went today to see the barbie movie...the place was clean,tidy and comfortable..we were served by a helpfull gentleman(oscar)it was his first day and was very efficient

Really underwhelmed. The food was awful- we had burger and chips and the quality was terrible. Disappointed that we paid a premium and didn't get the kind of service or overall experience that would think with an Everyman Cinema. Won't be going back.

Unfortunately, my husband and I were really disappointed when we tried the York Everyman cinema last night. We waited at least 10 minutes before the bar staff even acknowledged us (despite us being the only people there) only to be told they were really busy so "a drink is the most they could do right now." Once in the cinema, it was freezing cold as the air conditioning was pumping out for the entire film. After the film had ended, I went and used the toilets which were a mess and had no toilet paper. As we left the film and passed the bar, it was a tip. There were bags of rubbish everywhere for the customers to see and food all over the floor. For the price of the tickets and drinks, we expected a luxury experience but were left very disappointed. Some attention to detail and more staff are certainly in desperate need at this particular venue.

As a very regular customer this cinema is brilliant to go to; a great location, great seating and good enough food. The biggest drawback is seen during busier screenings, the understaffing of this cinema makes you feel sorry for the staff who are hard-working and always friendly but are fighting against the tide. Other than this, I thoroughly recommend the Everyman in York.
