Ever Green in West Berkshire

Website states delivery but when I phoned to place an order for delivery the rude lady said I had to order online. I explained I had no internet access at that time and could I order over the phone. She said if I ordered over the phone I’d need to pay cash on delivery, I agreed, then she said it would be 1.5hrs, I agreed. Then she asked if I was sure I couldn’t order online. Very clearly not wanting my order. I offered to pay for the food over the phone with my bank card and she refused. Rude lady and no food.

Been coming here for a while now and can honestly say they do the best sweet & sour chicken balls in Newbury. Egg fried rice is also made the correct way, not just boiled rice with some egg chucked in.

This is the first time I have used Evergreen and I was not disappointed. The food arrived quicker than expected and all the dishes were lovely. Great flavours, tasty and nice and hot. My new go to Chinese takeaway.

Lady taking order was very rude, I don’t expect to be shouted at for getting confused over ingredients, Most of the food went straight in the bin, won’t be ordering from them again.

I rarely find myself in a position where I come on here to leave a review to complain however on this instance I’ve been driven too. The food arrived cold and flavourless. The duck chow mein came with no duck but instead a barrage of vegetables which wasn’t requested and was asked not to be added. Would recommend avoiding this disappointing take away at all costs!

The worst take away I've had in years tasteless and full of vegetables i didn't want... Service was a complete joke missing items and ten minute argument about the items missing with a bigot who didn't listen to a single word and didn't want to take any responsibility for the mistake. If i wanted a vegetable dish i would of order one!!!! Only had 3 Prawns in the prawn dish Beef dish was Mushroom, Onion and a whole field of carrot. (Nothing on the menu about mushroom) It was complete waste of money and nothing good about the place Chicken dish was just Vegetables and gloop rubbish

We had a large takeaway last Saturday and were so disappointed. The stir fries were so watery and bland. Spring rolls were like super Market ones. Chips was low quality. We would have been better off throwing £70 down the drain and having toast and jam at home! The worst chinese food ever.

Some parts of our meal was really good, the chow mien was delicious, but unfortunately let down by the beef which was a real shame. Rice was fluffy & great tasting, chicken curry was delicious also, but again meat could be better. Chips were unfortunately the biggest let down this evening, cardboard texture with no taste. Heaps of salt & vinegar applied to make edible which I thought was a real shame considering the chow mien sauce & chicken curry sauce had been so yummy.

Ordered a takeaway this evening for collection, it was ready for collection when they said it would be and have to say, very impressed with the food. Great tasting, good quality Chinese food - we will use Evergreen again.

Ordered takeaway for 2 people for collection on a Saturday night. Order was ready in just half an hour, and was hot, tasty, well-seasoned and portions were generous. Great value for money - and a very good vegetarian selection, with several different options including Szechuan tofu and mock duck. We'll be back!!

We have had two take aways from here recently and are yet to have a bad meal! Both have been very tasty, arrived within 30 minutes of ordering and good size portions. We have thoroughly enjoyed both and will be ordering from here again! :)

With many takeaways close at this time we were pleases to find Evergreen open. The food was tasty, ready on time and competitively priced

Having always got my Chinese here I was shocked that it took almost 2 hours to arrive, the service whilst waiting was terrible and when it did arrive the order was wrong! They then would not answer my call to discuss the incorrect order. I’ve been promised a full refund of my order which I am waiting to receive!

Over two and half hours and still no sign of dinner! They may as well keep it it’s been so long. If it does turn up, I hope it comes with a refund 🤷🏻‍♂️

Over two hours ago we ordered the food and it’s still not turned up can’t get through to call them, permanently engaged....guessing taken off the hook at they can’t cope. And we have paid not at all convinced it’s ever going turn up. Avoid, complete rubbish

Had takeaway last night ,first time used,service was good pleasant welcome the wait was reasonable, but the food was bland and overcooked, had special chowmein it was watery and the noodles were more like over cooked pasta yuk, special chop suey was slightly better but...

Ordered from just eat, food arrived hot and on time, and the portions were large but it wasn’t as flavoursome as I was hoping. Noodles were bland and the char su pork was very fatty.

Forgave them for 2hr delay plus wrong order on news yeas day as put it down to the rush but.... We've ordered twice since then and they've messed up both times....used to be a good takeaway but has gone right downhill! Go somewhere else if...

We have just moved to Newbury, so we ordered several dishes..the worst was the sweet & sour chicken balls. The chicken was raw..I literally spat it straight out! The delivery time was extended another half an hour and then it was another half an hour...

Just received our food order , chicken and pineapple.. chicken raw, ! Absolutely disgusting food! Didn't complain as couldn't face an offer of replacement food! Avoid this take away if you value your health!!! Revolting!!!!

When I work away from home I live off of Chinese food, it's a treat to myself to indulge in my favourite cuisine. I always make it a mission to try all in the area and if I find one I like I'll go back...

You know that generally you're going to pay through the nose for Chinese food. And Evergreen doesn't disappoint in this respect either.What makes it harder to stomach, is the simply dreadful standard of cooking. Part of the order was Prawn Toasts. I watched in bemusement as two pieces of bread were lobbed into a deep oil fryer (I assume it was oil) and held under with a chip basket.Got it home...egg fried rice was brown...the only egg(s) present were in my kitchen...received a dish I hadn't ordered...the chicken curry's sauce - a shade of mud - would allow a spoon to be stood in it. Hints of curry but utterly inedible.Chicken satay could have been anything; possibly of animal origin, possibly not.All in all, woeful. I'd have been better off weeing on £30.00 an flushing it down the dunny which is where most of the leftovers went.

Had a takeaway from here for a change. Food hot and good size portions, however the ingredients used were of very poor cheap quality. We really didn't enjoy it and won't be going back.

Amazing value for money! Bought 2x 1 person meals, 2x spring roll and prawn crackers. Was £29 with delivery.. We couldn't manage to eat it all! You got sooo much for your money. Really tasty food.

Our monthly treat us always from here. We've tried a few others, but nowhere does the salt & pepper squid like here. Only once has our order been late & they handled it well. Not had a bad dish yet & reasonable prices.
