What a fun and unusual place. The prohibition theme is carried out with care, and it’s quite a hoot! Had the “best old fashioned” drink, and it was! Definitely worth the stop, and be patient when trying to gain access. They will answer the door.

Hard to find. Strange vibe from the welcome compared to similar places. Staff pleasant but pushy trying to get you to buy more drinks. Only bit of “ entertainment” was “Al Capone” wandering around. Not much atmosphere Cocktails average in content and price but the menu was clever. £4 for a very small bowl or either chilli crackers or salted corn was poor value as was £7 for a CAN of beer like you would get 4 for £5 in a supermarket.

Gimmicks were good...It was a proper speakeasy experience... hospitality was great. But drinks were not..we tried 3 drinks and all of them were on the sour side...Their famous old fashion was ok as well nothing overly impressive..I was expecting good complex mixology but expectations were not met . So I would suggest going if you like gimmicks but not for drinks

It is a great concept of bar, very unique and fun but in my opinion is only to go once for the experience. Adding up the cost of cocktails, the music charge per person and the service charge you will be left with a hefty pricetag at the end! I understad you pay for the whole concept, hence Is a bar you wouldn't go often.

Quite underwhelming. As we arrived to the Detective Office that is the front for the speakeasy a host greated us, who was clearly doing a bit, but we weren't sure what our role was supposed to be in this scenario. Then we were led through to the bar itself, which was a half-heartedly themed, dark, damp basement. The Beer Radiator was broken and they were missing the "hardware" for one of the more interactive mystery cocktails. The drinks themselves were nice, but wildly overpriced.

I spent my Saturday here and I had such an amazing night! Beautiful atmosphere with live Jazz music, amazing cocktails and friendly staff. A hidden gem!

Incredibly cool speakeasy with great drinks, great service and an overall great vibe. Loved getting a bit into character and taking in the ambiance of the place (in addition to the delicious drinks). Will be back!

Small bar. It was OK, nothing special. They seemed pretty up themselves baring in mind they don't offer anything special. Pretty pricey but it is London.

Great speakeasy! It was really fun getting in and the staff was so friendly!

I have been wanting to come here for years, and we finally got back to London and visited this speakeasy. Right from the start, the mood was set, as the person welcoming us clearly did a bit of research concerning our "case" that we sent in advance. After a bit of fun role-playing (not mandatory, but fun!) , a secret door was opened and we were in the bar itself. It's a cozy, dimly lit basement, where the appropriately- dressed staff brought us to our table. The menu is an eye catcher as well, with almost all cocktails named after famous (fictional) criminals like Thomas Shelby, Salazar, and of course Al Capone. The menu is yours, a note book to keep as souvenir. Nice touch. This speakeasy is supposed to be the home of the best Old Fashioned in the world, so that's the first thing we ordered, and it did not disappoint. It's brought to the table with a bit of show, and although I found it a bit weird that the zest was done at the start instead of at the end, it was a great Old Fashioned. Unfortunately, the other cocktails didn't get to that level. Don't get me wrong, they were nice, but not wow. I was also a bit disappointed when I requested a surprise cocktail with rum, and I got what was clearly... a rum Old Fashioned. Not very inspired. While the cocktails weren't world class, they were decent. I did feel a bit for the excellent two- man band, who had to play for a crowd of really loud people. And trust me, they were good enough to listen to. I do also have to mention the staff. Absolutely what I wish every bar had! Super friendly, they saw immediately when the water was gone and brought us a new bottle, nothing was too much to ask. Just wow. And when we left, the detective at the door gave us a happy ending to our submitted case! I still have many cocktail bars to discover in London, but when I'm near Earl's Court again, I'm coming back.

I first visited Evans & Peele around 2013/2014 and I’m so glad it’s still going. As always the entire experience was fun and engaging and the drinks were divine.

However the comical and cool welcome we each received in the agency reception was great. I told the host to give my hubby hell ! ;) This “lowdown dive” is an institution, but it’s not tired at all. Great service , perfect speakeasy feel, authentic and I can’t reveal any clue about the entrance as it’s all part of the fun. Just be in character! Excellent range of cocktails and classics . Their signature Old Fashioned is worth all the show. Great for a small group or a fun couple pre or post theatre . Just book well ahead. Stevie is an excellent skilled and suave mixologist and get the groove going even when it got busier. This is not a one-time novelty place, def a bar to hang albeit with unique character. Will be back , and on time sir!

Well what an absolute find. I mean once you do find it! Just ring the doorbell and enter down the stairs. Just make sure you haven't been followed. After the necessary interrogation you will be let in and immediately hit with the lush speakeasy vibes. Cocktails and service fantastic and there was live music. There is a surcharge on the bill to pay for the music but its part of the deal and well worth it. The most noticeable thing was just how much fun everyone was having. Get it on your list.

Great service the staff were really attentive and in character. Cocktails delicious. We didn’t try food. Decor great and so was entertainment. Felt so 1920’s. A really good vibe and great night out.

Extremely disappointed! I've been a regular for years and the service, food and overall experience have never been worst. Sad to see this place going downhill... The cheese board was some Tesco papadoms and a few slices of cheap cheese

Was really good and a very nice atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and also really appreciated how they looked out for us and the safety of us as girls, never seen that before at nearly any place I've been before. Would recommend.

I was staying locally with a friend and we simply googled nearest cocktail bar as we were fancying a cocktail on Friday evening. Evans and Peel came up within 200 yrds so we set off to find it. It didn’t appear to be where indicated on the map so we looked down a side street and saw this abandoned looking place with the name on the door. This can’t be it said my friend, but having no idea we pressed the bell on the door, it was answered and we were let in to a dark dingy passage with wooden steps down. We waited a minute of two and were invited down to be interviewed by a very stern looking detective. The whole experience was surreal from start to finish. After gaining access to the ‘speakeasy’ we thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails and the service was great. We had no idea this secret bar concept was a thing in London and just happened across this one. 2 girls on the next table were off to another in Chelsea. All in all a very bizarre but nevertheless enjoyable experience. I wish we had been able to stay a little longer for the live music but my lightweight friend was drunk after 3 cocktails so I had to take her home x

Really exciting experience, made for a very unique night out. Cocktail selection was unique and varied, and reasonably priced for the quality. Staff were lovely and personable, and decor and atmosphere aligned well to the concept of the bar.

The man at the reception was the best, he played a fantastic role and we had a good laugh with him. The second best thing were the cocktails and the atmosphere, which the receptionist already introduced. The cocktails average around £14. I would recommend this place if you are ready to play along and, are a fan of good cocktails and want something special and fun to do! This place was no toss at all!

We found this place randomly, and after tonight, I added it to my favourite places in London. The whole experience travels you back in time, starring from the welcoming and following the secret door into the main area. The live music was at the right tempo and volume to make you travel back in time and was adding up to the overall environment of the floor! Prices are fair and the service is very good. Menu is simple and creative! I would highly recommend this place if you are after some nice cocktails and trip back in time ! 1 extra point for the additional charge for the musicians, which was communicated upfront.

I do recommend making a reservation before you visit the bar. It's one of the best secret bars I have ever visited. The whole concept is fascinating and it's a really well thought. The staff is friendly and chatty.

Excellent night out with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. I really enjoyed the theatre involving the Detective, who had some good banter. The drinks were excellent quality, 1 00% recommended the 'old fashioned" and the staff and music were awesome. A great memorable night out and highly recommended!!! Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there (excellent Thai almost next door)

We went there for my friend's birthday and the check-in at the detective agency was one of the funniest moments of the weekend. The guy there was amazing to handle the language barrier. What an experience! great live music and cocktails, I tried four different options and they were all amazing. The old fashioned "ceremony" is worth the ticket price in itself.

What a fantastic night ! If you're looking for something different to do for a special occasion, then this is for you. We were here for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was a surprise for my wife. Its down a discreet side street with the Evans & Peel logo on the door.. and from the minute you ring the bell, your are transported in time to an era and scenario that makes for a special night. The detective was brilliant .. my wife was speechless and was wondering what on earth was going on. I wont tell you too much, as I don't want spoil it for you! The cocktails were amazing, the meat platter was plentiful and the live band were brilliant. If you're looking for a special night and something out of the ordinary. I would highly recommend that you visit Evans & Peel and present your case to them. You wont regret it.

This was truly a great experience! We stumbled on this place by chance and had such an awesome time with detective Mitch that we went back 2 days later to set up a similar experience with a friend. If you are in the area this is a must live and if you're not i the area a must visit!! The experience is flawless from beginning to end.-

Had a great night here. Good vibe and very cosy inside. Service was very good as well, didn’t struggle to order drinks. The downside for me was the cheeseboard which was £20 but very under-whelming! Just a few large crackers and only two different cheeses so not worth the money.

The entire ambience, from the buzzer to the menu was fantastic but what made it even better was the staff and especially the effort of the gentleman at the front desk who was bantering and personalising the welcome. The vibe is as expected, the cocktails are even better

Yummy cocktails and a nice atmosphere

Wow just wow! What a fun spot! Definitely check this one out if you're looking for a very unique cocktail experience and if you'd like to have a little fun with the speakeasy atmosphere. It's gorgeous in there, the drinks were very neat to witness, and the cast of bartenders (and detective Mitch) were all so much fun to be around. We had just missed the live music!! So I'd love to come back here to catch the music sometime, too.

Great way to end our night out. We visited here late on a Saturday and had a great time, warm welcome, good choice of drinks, well served and a sax and piano player added to the experience.

Fun venue, cocktails were really good, atmosphere was picking up with live music only we had to leave our table because our time was up, and to find out £15 live music charge was slapped on our bill (when we didn't listen to it because we had to leave). Super sneaky, I got them to take it off which they obliged but still very weird sneaking in a charge for live music, never heard of that before. Note to the venue, please stop doing yeah, you're just discrediting yourself, and ruining the experience, if you want to charge for live music, at least inform guests first! I might actually make a written complaint about this.

We were so fascinated by this bar! It was incredibly beautiful and the drinks were really delicious. We were welcomed by a very nice detective. (Greetings from Munich Schwabing!) Highly recommended, we will definitely come back here!

Amazing (and strong!) cocktails. Food (they only do bar snacks) is average at best so temper your expectations but the cocktails are to die for. Service is fantastic as well with staff regularly checking in. My only minor gripe about the ambience is the lighting is a bit too low, had to revert to using our phone torch to see the menu, which after a few cocktails is easier said that done! Overall highly recommended, this is one place that does not water down its drinks!

We visited on a Friday evening with a reservation (they have a live music performance on Fridays) The entrance is easy to miss but just off the main Earls court road. Cocktails are nice and innovative.

We would give siix stars for Evans & Peel Detective Agency if we could. What a great date night from start to finish. Every detail was attended to. We don't want to give much away but the entertainment was fantastic - a piano player and a sax jazz music. The secretive entrance slightly off the beaten path adds to the ambiance. The detective was also great. We had a couple of drinks and an appetizer. The drinks were adequate strength and the food was both attractively served and delicious. This is a short walk from the Earls Court underground station. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would love to bring others with us next time.

For a late last minute birthday drinks with a friend, we decided to give this little hidden gem a visit. They did not dissapoint! Great aesthetics, fun cocktails, friendly staff and a cool band to match. They welcomed us with a drink, as a compliment to my birthday. Highly appreciated the efforts and atmosphere of this little speakeasy. Very happy that we had the opportunity to visit this venue. Thank you, to the staff for a wonderful time.

It’s always been on my bucket list to visit a speakeasy, and I was thrilled to have had the experience here. The ambiance is definitely giving. The cocktails have a kick , The customer service is very good as well . 10/10 Definitely recommend!!!

We loved it so much we booked 2 nights in a row! I celebrated my 30th birthday there and it was amazing! The atmosphere, the decor, the staff, especially Stevie the bartender, he really made our time there incredible, next time I'm in London, I will definitely be booking to go back! Saw this hidden treasure online and thought we would give it a try, and I'm so glad we did! The whole atmosphere is fantastic, the attention to detail in all the decor and the cocktails 👌🏻 absolutely amazing! The staff are extremely friendly, they would always check on you to see how you are, if you need anything, just a general conversation. In fact, we loved it that much, we booked to go again the next night!! I highly recommend this place!!

The immersive Detective Agency theme is really not immersive at all. The entrance part with the actor as detective deserves a 4.6 stars and he was the best part of it, the mood and decor of the space is also above 4 stars for sure. However, everything after the entrance goes downhill. Me and my friends dressed up in 20s-30s Peaky Blinders style for the occasion, and we are dancers and musicians by profession hoping to dance a long to the live music of the night. We stood up to dance and we were quickly told to sit back down because they said we were blocking the entrance. But everyone had reservations and arrived and sat down around the time we did, so we weren’t really blocking anyone. We were given the table furthest away from the musicians and we didn’t complain, we thought since we wont be blocking anyone when we stand up dancing it could actually be a good table for us. However they were pretty unnecessarily strict about it and stared at us for it. So we obliged and sat down like good high school students being told off by the headmaster. The menu was thoughtful, every drink was named after a criminal; so I played along and said I’m curious about the criminal and I would like to arrest him. The waitress just bluntly said so you want the Rye Whiskey cocktail. I thought it was an immersive experience but NO not at all. The waiters amd waitresses were not exactly rude but hardly inviting or friendly. The music was Boogie-Woogie and the singer was a little Tom Waits style and we loved it. It could almost have been a good night out if the waiter didn’t remind us more than once we soon have to go half an hour before our booking is over. It was not a bad place at all but our experience wasn’t good at all. Maybe every waiter was having a bad day? Or is it a London thing to be this way? We were the first in our time slot to leave and we were outside chatting for another ten minutes and only One table left, so I wonder what’s the rush? Anyway, as long as you know it’s NOT an immersive experience it’s still not a bad place to visit.

This is such an amazing speakeasy bar. You get teleported to a different era. You don’t just come here for the drinks which are phenomenal already but for the overall experience. This is probably my favourite bar of all time. You should definitely book a table or else chances are high that they won’t let you in. If you come in at 9pm or later you will automatically be charged £5 p.p for the live music. They add an additional 12.5% service charge. I usually don’t like this added charge, however, the service is phenomenal and you’ll remember this evening for a while so I didn’t mind it. We‘ll be back.

What a find if a bar/speakeasy!! Stumbled across this place and wish we could have stayed longer. Drinks and conversation quite wonderful. We arrived after it open so they let us in but later in the evening reservations would be a must. Thank you for a great added experience while visiting London

Not my first time here and definitely won’t be my last, with the wonderfully energetic atmosphere, incredibly crafted cocktails, beautiful jazz music and fantastic staff that make this experience special every time, whether you’re by yourself or in a group, you are guaranteed a very special evening!!! This place is a must visit if you are in the area. It's prohibition 1920's themed. The outfits, acting, decor, music and drinks were all on theme. Cocktails were fab and reasonably priced and the table service was 10/10. The two men in the corner on the clarinet/piano were also super talented. Great fun little place with ambience to have a drink and relax. We loved it that much we paid our bill and we ended up staying until the end anyway. Will be returning soon!

Haven't tried the food before, but the drinks are wonderful and beautifully presented. The live music (piano plus singing and various instruments like double bass or clarinet) makes for a lovely background, the staff are great and even the entrance to the bar is incredible. The one concern i'd have is that a few tables don't have all that much lighting, but that aside if you enjoy a thematic bar set in the 1920's, you couldn't ask for a better place.

The whole place has it's aesthetic on point. The bar, the menu, the wait staff all look and play the part. The drinks were delicious and creative. Our group had a great time.

Staff are amazing. I forgot to get the detectives name, but he was hilarious. He stayed in character the whole time, i don't know how as our case was ridiculous! Our waiter, Stevie, was great - he was super attentive and easy to talk to. Shoutout to the member of staff who hid a shoe for us, much appreciated! If you do visit, there is an option on the website to submit a case for your booking, definitely do this because we had so much fun with the detective who played along with our story all night. The cocktails & snacks are also great, but I'd honestly just go back for the staff haha. Thanks so much for a great night!
