Ridiculously overpriced & tastes worse than a Toby Carvery. I was expecting high end food, beens as they have beans on toast on the menu for £9.95!!!!!!! The potatoes were hard & tasted frozen, the pork was full of grissle, and the parsnip may aswell have been a stick of chalk. It would have also been nice to have cutlery before all meals were served… which we had to ask for 3 times. On the up, the gravy and mash was nice. But that’s about all I ate. Over £130 spent and the majority of it went home for the dogs dinner.

Had a really good visit here today. We visited the pumpkin patch and then had afternoon tea afterwards. The afternoon tea was lovely. I have coeliac disease so I have to eat gluten free and they catered for me just fine. Just felt like a normal afternoon tea with no hassle because of my dietary requirements which is something I dread when going out for food. Will defiantly be coming hear again. They do a list of gluten free cakes also which look delicious. The staff were really nice. Shown us to our table straight away and the afternoon tea came out also straight away. Upon sitting down they asked if we wanted tea or coffee and also checked in to see if we were enjoying our food or wanted anymore tea or coffee. The farm shop is also a lovely little shop full of veg, meat, ready made foods. The people leaving bad reviews are being extremely picky for no reason.

After being told that afternoon tea at Essington fruit farm was exceptional, I had high hopes and chose to arrange a works event there which we tried to make special. I have come away today very disappointed. The male attendant who I can only describe as the manager was quite dismissive, commenting why we had turned up early but then abruptly asking us to leave our table dead on 5pm. I appreciate the staff want to go home but there are ways of communicating this to people! I felt his approach was rude at times, leaving some of our party feeling very uncomfortable. This was a special life event for our Mom to be and to be made to feel uncomfortable is unacceptable. Sadly, the afternoon tea wasn’t at its best either as the sandwiches had dry out. All in all, not a good experience sorry.

Price of menu items is really high for what you get. I understand about cost of produce, increasing wage bills etc but to charge over £10 for a single pork bap with 2 small pieces of meat on it, a spoon full of apple sauce and stuffing and a small dish of gravy is a bit of a rip off. As nice as it was I also don’t know how you justify a similar price for an egg mayonnaise sandwich with some side salad and a handful crisps.

Absolutely dreadful experience. First , and definitely the last time i would eat there. Lukewarm coffee, stale sandwiches, no salad on sandwiches, no condiments on the table, and jam which you poured on your scones. They should be ashamed serving up this garbage. Disgraceful, and definitely rip off merchants. Take my advice and keep well away, i can certainly think of more deserving places to spend my hard earned money. Also on a completely different note they don't grow all the vegetables sold as they buy in from other farms and put their mark up on, which i believe deceives the public.

Plenty of car parking and close to the M road. Outside seating and a large inside area. We were served quickly although my Scampi was served without peas and it looked a bit small and pathetic. The other two meals were substantial and value for money. The food hall was excellent with an unusually wide range of items for sale. Prices were fair. A farm bespoke milk van stood in the car park area.

Myself and my wife visited for breakfast today before going around the farm shop. I ordered a Farmers Breakfast (their biggest one), my wife had scrambled egg on toast with black pudding and mushrooms and we had a coffee each plus 1 extra soft drink for me. It came to just under £30. It was brought to the table quickly but in general, the food was disappointing :-( Full English - £9.95 The breakfast was lukewarm which I don’t mind so much but others may not be happy with. Sausage - 2 of them and they were ok, but they were tiny! Like the thickness of a finger. This is really disappointing as 15 yards away in the farm shop they sell some fantastic, thick cut butchers sausages! Bacon - this was nice but not much of it and quiet thin. Beans - decent but barely warm. Egg (Scrambled) - nice but again, barely warm. Not a lot of it either. Black pudding - disappointing! Rock hard around the edges- couldn’t cut through it so left it. Toast - 1 slice and medium thickness bread - again this is disappointing as 15 yards away they have a farm shop that sells proper thick sliced bread. At a farm shop cafe I would expect thick cut doorstop bread to be standard. Mushroom - nice - 1 flat mushroom, cooked well. Breakfast rating - disappointing. Not a huge amount of it, and for the price I would have expected them to use the best produce as I know they have access to it next door. My wife’s scrambled egg on toast / mushroom / black pudding was much of the same - nice mushroom / hard black pudding and medium toast. I would have complained but no one came over to ask me how the food was as per usual restaurant / cafe practise. On a positive note though, 2 x coffees were lovely, so was the soft drink :-) All in all, it just was not what we expected from a cafe located in a farm shop. They need to be more generous with their portion sizes, use better produce (especially the sausages and the bread) and ensure that it is served hot. This really could be a place that serves the best breakfast in Wolverhampton, but as it stands it’s not even as nice as Wetherspoons. TLDR: Food was lukewarm. Coffee was lovely. Poor value. Could be so much better.

Come on Mr Simkin Senior and Junior would you like your family to use your toilets in such a disgusting state. Came for afternoon tea as a birthday treat from a friend and it was really lovely. As it was a Monday ( we had to rescedule from Friday due to a clash of appointments) the restaurant was very quiet which meant there wasn't any atmosphere but that was the only disappointment. The selection of savoury and sweet items weren't just the normal offerings but included mini open sandwiches ( on French bread) and quiche ( containing mushrooms uggghhh) as well as finger sandwiches, cakes and the obligatory scones with cream and jam. Included in the price is as much tea and coffee as you want. After 90 minutes of giving it our best shot we had to surrender and take the remaining cakes home - first time ever for me!!!! Great value for money but I'd suggest you try a Thursday or Friday for a bit of company/ atmosphere .

We ordered among several other items, a vegetarian sausage roll, egg on toast and a spicy squash and vegetable chilli jacket potato which was ordered vegan (so minus sour cream). The sausage roll arrived and my husband took a bite before noticing it was meat. We complained and were told they would bring a new correct one but with no remorse. Then 2 egg dishes were brought and when we checked the receipt it was listed twice, they took one back. The chilli jacket arrived with sour cream on at which point I asked to speak to a manager while waiting for a new chilli jacket. The lady that came was nice and refunded the sausage roll, egg and chilli. She was a vegetarian so empathised that giving meat was wrong and understood that if I had a dairy allergy the sour cream could have been fatal.15 minutes went by and the new chilli jacket still hadn't arrived and all the children were getting restless as they had finished. When we enquired about it they said it would be out soon but had obviously been forgotten. Shocking and dangerous kitchen made slightly better by one nice lady.

We have in the past been allowed to order them at this time as they are on the breakfast menu. When we pointed this out we were told breakfast menu had finished (although you can still order sausage/bacon sandwich etc) although we could order omelettes again at 12.00 as a lunch item. Lady taking order complete jobsworth. Have noticed lots of staff changes for the worse in fact the old supervisor was an excellent organiser and very pleasant and customer friendly. This is by no means a cheap place to eat and although bacon and sausage is excellent quality they are very small breakfasts for the price. When our omelettes eventually arrived after ordering them at 12.00, they were tasty even though 2 arrived ages before the other two. This visit did come a couple of months after having a very poor quality dinner with a really poor choice of vegs.Am seriously thinking of never visiting restaurant again.

I went here for a 5 item breakfast. I had to send the black pudding back as it was completely raw inside. They grilled me a fresh piece and it was an improvement but obviously cooked by someone who doesn't eat the stuff! I chose a poached egg and looked forward to the runny yolk oozing out over a piece of toast. It was hard boiled and rubbery. The couple at the next table sent theirs back. Our coffees were at best lukewarm by which time we had lost the energy to complain further. The baked beans and bacon I had were fine, the sausage tasted strangely sweet as though it was thinking of going off.Not worth going here for breakfast. The staff didn't seem switched on or customer focussed - it all felt very amateurish. A further observation is that they talk at length about serving local and reducing food miles. In the farm shop they sell local butter but the pre-packed pats they give you with the toast are packed in Ireland. Nothing against Irish butter but it's a lot farther away that down the road and at £2.25 for two pieces of sliced bread toasted, I would have though the butter could have been a little more special. Furthermore, condiments are served in 9g individual foil pouches - that must be an incredibly uneco-friendly was of dispensing ketchup! They promote green credentials but seemingly haven't thought it through.

It was very busy so I got a seat while my wife ordered at the counter. She returned with the mince pies on a tray announcing that the tea was following. We then spent over 10 minutes gazing longingly at the pies. In the end Linda went back to the counter to be advised the tea was "on its way" but that they were experiencing a bit of a backlog. So we waited some more. No option really since we had already paid! In the meantime I observed that many customers were receiving their orders in a piecemeal fashion. A nearby family of four had nearly finished their fry-ups when the toast arrived, followed 3 minutes later by their tea! Surely it is customary to enjoy it all together?

Their definition of large is obviously different to mine. Had to choose between one tomatoe or scoop of beans ? The sausages were more like chipolatos. Black pudding seemed like it hadn't seen a frying pan. Drinks served separately and I enquired where our toast was. Told it would be coming. I like to have my toast with my breakfast so after finishing our breakfast our toast still hadn't arrived so we got up and walked out. Thoroughly dissapointed with Essington fruit farm restaurant- overpriced and underwhelming. My husband ordered the hot turkey sandwich which arrived with dry Turkey on two slices of dry sliced bread. No stuffing, gravy or even butter. The sandwich arrived with limp discoloured salad leaves, half a cherry tomato and no dressing. Due to the lack of stuffing, gravy or even butter the sandwich was incredibly dry and tasteless. I ordered the small breakfast which arrived with dry toast (I had to ask for butter from behind the counter) pre-cooked oily hard bacon, sausage, beans and un-seasoned over whipped scrambled egg. I am not sure how something so simple could be cooked so incredibly badly. Essington fruit farm itself is a great place to visit and we purchase our Christmas tree every year from the farm and will continue to do so. Unfortunately, the restaurant really does fall short which is a shame as it a really nice space and the staff are very pleasant.

Visited the fruit farm today and enjoyed the pumpkin picking experience. BUT -We booked a table in advance to eat but when we arrived the table had been taken - after the staff practically drawing straws about who would move the family who had sat at the not so obviously marked 'reserved' table, we were seated. An awkward start. The place was so hot it made us uncomfortable from the get go and the tables we so close together that everytime a waiter came close to you with food you thought it would end up in your lap! We ordered two club sandwiches, a jacket potato, premade cottage pie and 2 kiddies jam lunch boxes. The kids had also wanted a milkshake which was advertised on the board - no milkshake available. It took 50 mins for our lunch to arrive after being told on three occasions the jam sandwiches were being made - yes we had to wait for jam sandwiches. When the food arrived it was disappointing. The salad on and with the club sandwiches was dirty, as was the cutlery it came with. The jam sandwiches we had waited so long for were three small pieces no bigger that a quarter of a slice of standard bread. We won't be returning. Just a heads up about the wait or an apology would have made the experience marginally better.

We went here after hearing good thing about it,it was busy because of the Pumpkin Picking but we went to the cafe for a snack lunch. We ordered 2 sandwiches and a baked potato from the very angry girl on the counter she told us it would be half an hour wait but the food came within 2 minutes. All the staff members seemed to be quite rude, perhaps thats how they speak to customers in that part of the country !!!!!!

I have been to MANY afternoon tea's this year and the one at Essington Farm is by far the best! A huge array of savoury and sweet bites which aren't just your average sandwich and cake. There was quiche, sausage rolls, mini open sandwiches aswell as the usual finger sandwiches. The cakes were delightful and tasty too, lots of choice. The tea/coffee was bottomless and the staff were very obliging. Lovely country kitchen atmosphere too and the new refurb looks fab! Much better than before! I've also had breakfast here too on a couple of occasions which was also really good. Would highly recommend!

What a find! Wonderful food in the Restaurant and the best array of fresh meat and vegetables I have seen for a long time! I would shop there every week if it wasn't for the fact that we live 100 miles away!

We go here at least once every four to six weeks and it is always good food. Nicely spaced tables but it can be a little noisy on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Had a lovely salad today instead of the usual roast - just as good. Nice friendly staff with a large free car park.

Waited 25 min for a pork bap told they were busy funny how people came after us and were served well before, went to counter and asked about order oh you are next and true to their word it appeared 2 min later. They forgot the order ? you could tell by looking at the bap it had been rushed, meat warm, gravy and apple sauce just poured on and a mess. like another comment on here young lady on the counter rude and told us order from the menu when you have a table not customer friendly for working on the till.

As those who have read my previous reports, I love a good breakfast and love going to new venues. I let you know if they are good or bad, I tell it as it is.We know people who have visited for Sunday lunch and seemed pleased, so off we go, lets have a look. Car park, much better than previous visits. Farm shop looked smart and well laid out-obviously a few bob been spent on this place, but what is the restaurant like? Upon entering it clearly tells you to find a table and order at the counter with your table number-fair do's. It was about 10.15 on a lovely Saturday morning, the sun streamed in through the windows, a lovely setting, only a few people in, all looked good-until I went to order!! Joining the queue at the counter there was only 3 or 4 people in front of me. I wanted two 'farm house' breakfasts, the chap in front of me wanted a bowl of porridge and a bacon butty. Twenty minutes later we were still in the queue. There was one person on who served each breakfast one item at a time, with the egg-I think, cooked to order. Eventually I got there, went through the pick your items one at a time and had the eggs done as we wanted. I did note that at £8 odd each the toast was extra, as was a cup of tea. Not much change out of £20. You took your breakfasts to your table and your toast and tea followed. Well, this was the first time I have ever known my wife send anything back, "I can't eat this it is stone cold". It was sent back and came back like mine was, warm at best. Not piping hot. No one was particularly apologetic. I bumped into the guy who I had been in the queue with earlier on the way out. He said "20 minutes in the queue and twenty minutes for it to come-just a bowl of porridge and a bacon butty-just not worth it". The items did look like quality products, it's almost that they're cooked ok, but by the time they've been in the serving dishes and the length of time it takes to serve you that they've gone cold.

Visited first time since refurb. Women serving me very rude because I had not found a table before ordering. We gave her a table number she got order wrong when waitress brought it to table 20 miniutes later she did change it but I had been over charged no refund given. Coffee is very weak seems poor quality decided to leave without drinking coffees. Did leave comment form did find staff unfriendly. On plus side Farm Shop was very good. I think it was better before refurb staff seemed more polite and coffee was better quality then.

My daughter took me for afternoon tea this weekend and its really very good. And at the price they charge its certainly very good. Best scones I've had with an afternoon tea in some time. Not sure about their jam but the sandwiches were delightful. Not an egg or cucumber in sight thank goodness. Very happily surprised.

Booked afternoon tea for 5 several days in advance. Requested one serving of sandwiches without butter. Paid deposit of over 50%. This was booked for a special occasion. Arrived 5 mins early and had to ask where table was as no one greets you when you arrive. One small pot of tea was brought over, which gave 5 small cups of tea. Two trays were brought over a short while later and when I asked about sandwiches without butter the waitress said "these aren't yours" and took them away again. 20 minutes later and no member of staff had been to the table to apologise or explain what was happening and we called a waitress over who was clearing another table to ask for more tea. We enquired how much longer we would have to wait and were told "we do have other customers to serve". The restaurant was not particularly busy and people arriving after us had been served, so we were not making an unreasonable request. Two stands arrived 35 minutes after our booking time. The sandwiches without butter were ham, egg and cheese. We could have made these at home in a quarter of the time we waited! At no point did any member of staff come to the table to check whether everything was ok or if we needed anything else. What we arranged as a treat became a very uncomfortable afternoon. If an apology had been forthcoming it would have made a big difference. The food was nice, but not fantastic. When we left a reduction was made of £4.15, but again no apology. We filled in a feedback form to say how disappointed we were and handed this to a man I think was the head chef. He did not make any comment and was not very friendly. We had booked so would have expected things to be prepared in advance so really no excuse for food not being ready and such poor service is inexcusable. Would not recommend to anyone.

We visited here with our daughter for breakfast. We normally go to the hollybush but after visiting the fruit farm we will stick to this one! The quality is superb and all local produce. You really can tell the difference in the ingredients. We visited the farm shop afterwards and bought the sausage and bacon that was used on our breakfast! Lovely food and atmosphere.

The restaurant has recently been refurbished, and looks very pleasant. It was around 1.30 on a Saturday; so I had expected it to be busy, but it wasn't as busy as it could have been and I presumed the main rush had passed. There were quite a few tables reserved, but there was space. The Hereford beef was moist but totally ruined by being so overcooked. The veg was very well done too. The price was reasonable but the meal could have been so much nicer.

Visited after refurbishment with a friend - hot food looked lovely - chose the baked potato boats - looked delicious and indeed they were but only got half of one for £7.95! Didn't make a fuss as with a friend but not worth that at all for half a filled baked potato - slice of apple pie was also £4.20 when the whole pie in the shop was less. Shame as food was good but too overpriced.

Having had some very nice meals here before and aware of the recent refurbishment we were really looking forward to our Sunday lunch today however we left rather underwhelmed. There were four of us and the consensus was that there were a few things that should have been better. Whilst the quality of food and cooking is usually very good, the beef today was a bit tough. There were two type of "mash" on offer but with only peas and savoy cabbage to accompany them I thought an additional choice of vegetable would have been welcome. At 2.30pm all our meals including the plates were only just warm. Our table wasn't cleared at any time leaving little room for our dessert plates - so overall we were expecting better for our £9.75.The dining room and toilets are now clean and contemporary but despite new curtains and some posters it still has a cold more functional feel. The DIY menu chalk boards now look amateurish compared to the new décor. Noise reverberation is still an issue and young children doing what young children do best can be intrusive. The farm shop has some excellent products but you will pay a premium, some prices are eye watering but more disappointing is that it appears to have lost quite a few lines, as well as some character and warmth - you'll need a coat. Whilst I have been fairly negative in my review there is much to admire here and I feel frustrated as it could be so much better.I suspect the works aren't yet finished and hope there are further improvements to come.

Found this place about a month ago when the refurbishments were in progress, their produce was amazing all pork and beef from their farm, all veg from their farm all freshly picked tasting amazing , now they have opened up their new farm shop it's very impressive !! The cafe serves all homemade food which is extremely tasty, prices in shop and cafe are reasonable ( don't mind paying that little bit more for good fresh produce) will definitely be a regular of mine !!!!

Carvery Lunch-it was busy and we reserved our table. It's £9.95 for a adult meal and it was really nice. Meat was so tasty. They sell wine too. Puddings were nice.My only complaint would be that although staff told us which table to sit at there were no instructions on how the Carvery worked and we asked another couple who also were a bit confused. I wasn't put off though and would go again. Afternoon tea looked even better and so tasty.....

We have been eating and shopping at Essington Fruit Farm for many years, but last night was really special. Steak and Strawberry night. Everything was just so perfect and delicious. The steak cooked exactly as we asked. I had Rump steak with Stroganoff sauce, (this was served separately) dauphinoise potatoes and vegetables it was one of the best steaks I have eaten out! Followed by the Panna Cotta with strawberry Collis and ice cream, which was delicious. Waitress service was excellent. Well done to all of the team. Looking forward to the next one.

We have visited the restaurant many times, and like the Ploughmans lunch, We went at the weekend. I had a Scotch egg ploughmans and my husband ham. it was a scotch egg with nothing more than 2 desert spoons of chopped side salad, 1/2 baguette and a little Branston pickle. The ham one was the same. £6.95 each. It was certainly not a ploughmans lunch but it was definitely a rip off..

We visited the tearoom today... Myself recommending following previous visit a couple of years ago. I was very disappointed there was no gluten free cake or even packets of GF biscuits on offer. When enquiring about this the staff took over 5 minutes to see if they offered anything. I would have presumed they should be taught this in training.Staff were apologetic but not the friendliest.Disappointing in today's 'allergen' world that an established tearoom had no GF to offer. Surely missing a business opportunity!

I cannot fault the farm shop, however today we decided to visit the newly refurbished tea rooms / restaurant where we had the smallest scone known to man. More worryingly the very small portion of fresh jam had four large fruit stones in it, as did my husbands. Do not buy this for a child, maybe get them a slice of the tasteless chocolate cake. Very disappointing. Up your game fruit farm.

we were going fruit picking but on walking past the restaurant area we looked in and glanced at the specials board and decided to have a meal first,We opted for the roast turkey and we were served by a lovely lady who hand carved our Turkey for us and then we helped ourselves to vegetables which were limited to roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, peas, carrots and cabbage. The roast Turkey was lovely and moist , the veg was all good , if i was being picky i would say the mashed potatoes were a bit on the heavy side and not as light and fluffy as the could have been. We enjoyed our meal and all the staff were most helpful and courteous we we be going back again , the restaurant was itself was light and airy even though outside was so very hot all in all a good experience.

I popped in here after a walk over Kinver Edge because I needed to pass the time waiting for my bus. It's a friendly pub with a good atmosphere and good beer. I didn't have any food this time, but as it was my first visit to the area I will be back next time. A lovely place to stop off and wind down, I highly recommend it.

Saturday 8th July. Had planned a trip especially from north wales. Always been on my bucket list. Checked website and Facebook page. Sorry to hear about the break in. Information stated should be open again 6th or 7th July. Tried to phone before visit to check if open. No answer. Should've been open 8th but no updates or information. Arrived at 12:15. Five cars parked by locked gate. Nobody knew What was happening. Walked down the lane. Fantastic house. Unfortunatly we had a wasted trip. Blackboard outside 'closed until further notice' people arriving after us who we informed they were closed. Had we known we wouldn't have wasted a journey.

Popped for lunch after dog walking. A good selection of choices on the menu and a lovely atmosphere in this canalside pub. Dogs are welcome - there's a couple of dog-free areas as well - and this makes a good spot for refreshments (or more) after walking along the canal towpath. We'll definitely be back!
