Great place, I always come here when I can, lovely vibe and welcoming, kind staff.

So, I write this review with a heavy heart as I was a regular customer to Esquires coffee House until recently. I had taken a few weeks away and came back the coffee house to enjoy a delicious iced coffee and some of their infamous latte cake. Unfortunately this visit wasn't the delicious mirage I had hoped for. As I walked in I found a host of staff I didn't recognise, the quirky, fun, upbeat staff we all loved were no where to be seen. Instead the staff seemed miserable, hard to understand and found great difficulty taking my order. After 3 failed attempts to order a caramel frappichino, my wife had take over, and still the order was wrong..... no latte cake to be found, instead I got what they called a banana and walnut cake that was so hard, Thor would have been proud to weald it instead of his hammer. Not to mention the price increase...a caramel frapp, where they actually charge you extra to add the caramel to a caramel frapp ??? So the price of a caramel frapp is more expensive as it is then another charge to add the caramel.... insane. £15 for two drinks and a slice of cake I'm afraid I will nor be back, nor will a lot of other customers. I had been going here for over 7 years..... shame on you esquires

The best coffee shop in Letchworth. Friendly welcoming dog friendly and cat friendly too. Always a good atmosphere and a good vibe. Drink there regularly and particularly fond of the cherry sponge, the raspberry coconut slice and the vegan steak bake! Relaxed atmosphere, never feel rushed, definitely worth the visit

Love this coffee shop in Letchworth!!! Fantastic atmosphere, friendly service (especially from Sammy), great coffee, delicious treats and lots of good options for lunch. Favorite lunch was the pesto, tomato flatbread. Really good flat white and americanos - hot or iced. Cozy tables and chairs to sit with others, and I was able to find comfortable places to sit with my computer and work. Highly recommend and definitely my favorite coffee shop in Letchworth ♥️

Lovely cafe in the centre of town. Nice environment. Quiet enough to do work but also a nice place to meet friends. Coffee was good, we didn't have cake but everyone else looked really good! Friendly staff and clean facilities.

Nice coffee house visit before Christmas, place felt relaxing and festive and the kids enjoyed the cake, also my chai latte was fantastic nice flavours....

What a horrible experience! This place is a rip off. They don't ask you what size coffee you want but automatically assume you want the largest size! Massive mug of warered down coffee that tastes like a dishwater! Watered down coffee and 2 very pricey and small slices of cake came to £14. Won't be be going there again. :-(

Sorry to say but the coffee is really awful and acid. It’s not the real Italian espresso. You should use a new coffee machine!

Seems the staff are more interested in creating a happy working vibe to the exclusion of the customers. Service is haphazard with an inordinate wait for service for the most simple of orders. Then they lose part of the order adding to the frustration. Coffee and cake not particularly outstanding either, rendering the whole visit a disappointment. Shame as it looks good from the outside

Have been visiting this coffee shop for a long time and just about tolerated the slow service and delays in clearing tables. However they've got worse and worse to the point that tables are rarely cleared and not wiped, the floors go all day with scraps and other rubbish left on them, but yesterday I went in their usually grim loo and in the three hours since opening the whole floor was covered in urine so it was impossible not to step in it, no tissue or soap for hand washing and the bin was as usual overflowing. The smell was unbelievable, can't believe they don't bother when they serve food and drinks, it's not like they don't have enough staff! I will never go here again it makes me feel sick paying a lot for such disgusting surroundings.

WE popped into this stylishly decorated coffee shop for a light breakfast . Whilst the surroundings and lowq3yemwj9 music were very pleasant, the welcome from the lady behind the counter was disappointingly absent. A too brusque ' be with you in a moment' was uncalled for and would far better have been replaced with a 'good morning' or simply 'Hello' Whilst our breakfast croissants were quite satisfactory ,our coffees were only just hot enough to drink and lacking in flavour or body. - Too much milk foam clearly being considered a substitute for both these characteristics. We will not be returning but will sadly take our breakfast breaks to other near-by 'chain' establishments

Had coffee with friends this morning,quick service & coffee was ok.Used there toilet which needs a revamp or a deep clean,it’s very dirty !

Hoped for a puppocino for my poorly puppy who is a regular (she was recently spade and had dewclaws removed from back legs) meaning she has to stay at home to recover, they gave me a slightly bigger puppocino and i was so touched 🥹 Indiana-Bones was overjoyed when i arrived home and she saw the cup! Thank you!

Great coffee, kids love the hot chocolate. Good selection of tray bakes and cakes. Hot and cold sandwiches are really good too. Today most of the tables had not been cleared of mugs & plates from lunch which seemed a bit strange for 3pm on a Saturday.

This is a beautifully laid out coffee shop with everything you could want great food and snack's and amazing coffee and other beverages they have a amazing layout and comfy sofa seats i go here with my girlfriend and happily wll go back

I come here not regularly enough and am so shocked at some of the reviews, customer service is always amazing, the baristas always say hello as soon as I enter, the space is so homely and I’ve sat here before for hours working and haven’t felt rushed or unwelcome, the coffee is amazing and all of the sandwiches I have tried so far as just as good! Amazing staff and coffee too ☕️

Sat in & had a lovely coffee with my partner. Had quite a character argue with the staff (because he didn't get a mug, take away only today) but they dealt with it wonderfully and everyone had a bit of a laugh

Lovely place and hot chocolate is the best . However the older lady who serves on weekends has one pace regardless and that is very slow. Quite frustrating to have to wait so long for a basic order of a couple of coffees. Edit: almost empty shop today but none of the tables have been cleared in the whole time we were there, the girl whose job it was seemed to be far too busy showing her colleague photos on her phone. Come on esquires get with the programme!

I note that there are mixed reviews and that customer service seems to up and down. I love great customer service and was so disappointed yesterday when I stopped off to buy a takeaway coffee and some lunch. The lady behind the counter didn’t smile, say hello or acknowledge that I was there. When I gave her my order I felt like it was a bit of an inconvenience. It was quiet initially but a small queue was forming and she called someone else to come out from the kitchen to assist. The second lady didn’t seem much happier. My coffee was passed to me without a word and as I waited for my food I was asked if I wanted milk in my tea (which I hadn’t ordered) A box was then passed over the counter with no confirmation of what was in it. I asked if that was mine and was grumpily told yes. The coffee was good and the food really tasty but service was really poor. Loads of other places to go and wish I had.

Friendly staff. Able to eat in, eat outside or takeaway. Dog friendly facility. Mix of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks. Reasonably priced, food and drink for under £6.

We are regulars and love this place. We only really have our usual coffees and sweet treats, plus the occasional humus filled wrap (delicious) so can't comment on the rest of the food. But the staff have always been very friendly and courteous. Even better, they are dog friendly, always make a fuss of our dog when they can and generally have a jar of doggy treats readily available.

This place is just around the corner from where I live, and I was curious about the reports of bad service etc so I thought I'd check it out. Ok, I'm sure there are plenty of baristas etc and someone might have been caught on an off-day, but I found this place a delight and the staff were cheerful and polite. The coffee is really great and the food seems to be better than average for what it is (ie basic cafe stuff, pastries etc). It's spacious and pleasant. I thought it deserved to have its average rating bumped up.

Quite dreadful experience. The toilets were filthy - which did not give me much confidence about the security of the COVID measures. One lady was quite pleasant, but the other (younger one) was not at all friendly and was clearly having a bad day. Of course, staff in coffee shops change very regularly, but at the moment I would give this place a wide berth. Coffee & food was actually quite good!

We had nice coffee but it was expensive and served in cardboard cups. Poor and unfriendly service, we were certainly not made to feel welcome. Beautiful flower boxes though but we will take our custom elsewhere next time.

We ordered two cappuccinos and ended up with horrible milky lattes. Cappuccino is about foam and there was no foam in our coffees. Being divas? I don't think so, if i had wanted a milky coffee i would have ordered one.

This is one of my favourite coffee shops. I've always had good service and they have a good standard of coffee. Food selection isn't very extensive, but i do like to have one of their sandwiches because they're always tasty. There always seems to be somewhere to sit, whatever time that I visit. Throw in the free Wifi and it's a good experience!

Brilliant tasting coffee and for the price you get A LOT of coffee. Would 100% recommend coming here, even when they aren’t open they are still serving great coffee and their customer service is second to none. I shall be making this my main coffee house.

Asked for a soya latte, didn’t see a soya milk carton being used, when given my coffee I asked the girl who made it if it was a soya latte and she was very cold and borderline rude in the way she looked at me almost confused at why I was asking and said yes like I had offended her by asking. I trusted her as she’s the professional. Seeing as I had never had coffee here before I just assumed that the different taste was down to the coffee itself and not the milk (because I assume I can trust a professional not to lie about the milk they have used). I had about 4 sips of coffee before I started feeling unwell. I have now been unwell for two days, really unwell. Train your staff better, they need to understand how serious food allergy and intolerances are! You could potentially kill someone! It’s ok to admit you made a mistake and just make the coffee again! It is NOT ok to make someone sick because you don’t want to admit you have made a mistake!! If I had blindly taken that coffee and not asked a second time if it was definitely non-dairy I wouldn’t be leaving this review but it’s the principle that I did double check and not only did I revive a cold rude response, but it was also a lie.

Gone down hill since last reviewed, staff don't listen, like warm coffee when asked for extra hot, scones are stale, asked for one thing and got another as they run out but didn't ask first, tables and floor dirty and sticky. Felt very uncomfortable sitting for food and drink.

Wonderful, friendly and happy atmosphere where the staff genuinely care for their customers, their wellbeing and how they are. I’ve seen the manager of this particular store in The Comet newspaper for her work within the community. They offer a diverse selection of food, soft drinks, milkshakes and coffees catering for everyone including vegans, vegetarians and people requiring Gluten Free options that are all made and cooked in store personally by the staff. They also offer space for small local businesses to sell products that the company make zero profit from which is a lovely touch and nice thing to do for others.

One way system in effect to move through the cafe. Hba sanitizing available, asis inside seating and toilet facilities. Toilets have a sign up that say use toilets at customers own risk. Everything is served in take away containers and customers are asked to dispose of these ourselves. Food and drink is of a very good quality. However, service can sometimes (not always) be quite slow.

Omg, this place is bit dark, windows where ever you sat, seats are hard, staff didn't acknowledge you if you were waiting to be served and when they did it wasn't friendly it like he didn't want to be there. Food is over price, drinks aswell.food was stale when we got it. Didn't see a toilet. Wheelchair access is not great n not much room inside for one either, has outdoor seating but again not wanting to sit outside in the cold. Def not going back there

This is the perfect coffee shop!Its a good size but very cozy, if you want some private time there are some cozy corners to hide in but still see the world go by. There is a great selection of hot and cold food with some specialties mixed inWhat also make Esquires stand out, is the staff, nothing is too much effort, they serve with a smile, and they make you smile, if you want a lift me up! Pop in here and enjoy a hand crafted coffee from the baristaI'm impressed, im sure you will be tooLooking forward to making Esquires a regular stop off point for a perfect chill

We went here on Wednesday 29th of january.the coffee was completely undrinkable quite literally. incredibly bitter, incredibly strong, there seemed to be a learner on his first day there so perhaps that was the issue ,however I wouldn't go back to find out ,such a waste of money.

Great cafe, good coffee, good sweet treats. Relatively quiet environment and they provide plug points for folks needing to work; nice touch. Staff maybe a little too keen when taking your order ; I struggled to finish a sentence before they ask "small, medium or large". But overall, a great place to grab a coffee break.

Requires has the lowest hygiene rating in Letchworth! Do not eat here, you might get ill.

Fairly quiet two people on front of me staff barely looked up no smile or welcome took order Poached egg bacon toast latte muffin and mocha Poached eggs both hard bacon could snap in half Muffin was ok mocha funny taste Nearly £15 which wouldn’t have been a problem if we would have enjoyed It’s alright to say why didn’t you complain or take back well sometimes people don’t like to do this and also with time restraints not as simple as this Noticed a lot more competition in town will try one of those next timeDoesn’t cost much to look up and smile

Visited last Sunday with my wife and son. Ordered a 'breakfast baguette' which everywhere I have been means egg, bacon or egg, sausage. Her is mean just sausage or just bacon. So it's a bacon roll. This bacon roll is £4.95. We asked for this bacon roll to have sausage as well. So we had to pay $5.95 for a bacon and sausage roll. I also asked for a salmon bagel.Were we in central London ? Were we in Paris ? No Letchworth. Frightening. So we also had a coffee, tea and orange juice and came out £19.40 lighter.......whew.She done me up like a kipper.So had a 'small coffee'(very unflavoursome) and tea and waited. And waited. And waited.Then someone comes out (the fleecer) and says sorry no bacon. LOLYou gotta laugh. So we said fine just sausage. So we got a small baguette and 3 undercooked sausages.My son and I finished eating, we had long finished our drinks and my wife's bagel had not arrived. She said cancel it and let's just go. I went up to the counter to cancel and after much searching and checking it transpired they never ordered it in the first place so It was £19.40 WITHOUT the bagel.Suggest you go elsewhere rather than eat or drink here. Dire.Still at least there are plenty more cafe's around Letchworth. This one won't be extracting vast sums for poor food and drink from me again.

Every table is cluttered with plates. Just came in and went straight out. Very disappointed.
