Esquire's coffee in Sutton

This experience started when we ordered from Paula - not a smile or greeting. I ordered a poached eggs and smashed avocado on toast - the table was dirty so we asked for the table to be cleaned. When the order was delivered to the table is was cold, the toast was soggy - it was like a piece of un-toasted bread and the smashed avocado was like a spread thinly scraped across the un-toasted bread. I raised this with Paula, this issue was dismissed not a word of apology or offer to replace it. Completely unacceptable. This was compounded, when I spoke with to another customer sitting on an adjacent table, who had a similar experience with cold and unacceptable food; and a similar response or lack of response from Paula.

Please do not waste your money! Ham and cheese panini was a slither of ham, no cheese to be seen, egg and avacado on toast inedible. Waitress couldn’t even be bothered to bring napkins but pointed to where they were. Service was so appalling we wondered if they were related to the owners of the coffee shop next door. Best to avoid both tbh!

So very dirty!! Uncleaned table and stained seats. Have to say, it’s a s@@t hole and crap service. Why they let this place go is beyond me.

Such a nice quiet cafe. Their Lemon & Blueberry cake is possibly one of the best cakes i've ever had. The service was brilliant - very facilitating. The iced coffee was also perfect. The food was 10//10. Thank you!

We arrived at 12pm and there was barely anything avaliable, when I asked if they could make a salad, they told me there wasn't any left and I should have got there earlier it was lunch time! It's because they pre-prepare their food, i put it down to pure laziness of not wanting to serve it as and when! The blonde haired woman is so rude, their food is lovely but I haven't eaten in their since. It was a place me and my family would all go for lunch regularly and have since avoided due to her terrible attitude and customer service!

Best, quietist, least claustrophobic place in Sutton to relax with a drink now. Starbucks and Nero both crowded, noisy and bad coffee. The coffee here suits my taste (and you get a bigger cup for the price…than in any other high st stop. The service can seem a little brusque, but we know the staff now, and it’s just how they are. (Resting B face) you could say…But actually they are very kind and attentive and very happy servers. And they bother to remember your order…they start preparing our usual order as soon as we appear at the door. Not had much food, but the tea cakes are nice. My caveat. If you you love STRONG coffee….ask for an extra shot because I love their coffee, and I’m a weak coffee lover.

Wow, such bad customer service is hard to find these days. The manager Paula is absolutely miserable, snapping at you as you order. She didn’t really look up from the counter at all other than to briefly pass a wooden number thing and snarl “just take this… next!”

Blonde woman not nice. Can do with some customer training. Had to wait rather long for two teas and when I asked why the were taking too long, I was not given any apologies. Bad customer service

When visiting Esquires Sutton for coffee with my daugher, I was greeted with miserable faces, no smile, no 'can I help', nothing, when I went back in for a little more milk for my coffee, I was greeted with another equally miserable girl, who didnt even speak to me. Needless to say I wont be returning and will, instead, go to the much cleaner, friendlier looking cafe next door!

Not good experience here at all. I first ordered a chicken Mayo panini. As I was ordering the manager walked past and stared at our order on the till and said nothing. As we sat down, someone came out to tell us they had no fresh panini’s left. Why couldn’t the manager tell us that whilst she was staring at her colleague taking our order??? The manager was really rude

Indifferent service. A smile would not be a bad thing. Not a lot of choice of sandwich fillings. Ok for a quick coffee but not much else.

Came here with my family to grab something to eat. Server at the till had a very bad attitude and put us all in a bad mood. Anything we asked was too much for her. would not come here again

My friends and I attended mid morning for a catch up. We all had savoury or sweet snacks as well as drinks. I really enjoyed their fresh orange juice. Staff extremely friendly and kind.

The cashier girl enters our order as we appear over the horizon. We are creatures of habit. I love the coffee. But, it is worth me saying that I like weakish coffee and an extra shot might be best for you if you dont. The flavour is good and they manage to give you a cappuccino foam that is so robust to still be sitting in the bottom of the cup when you finish. The staff are always pleasant always in this place vacated to tables are cleared immediately and sprayed down. They did this even before covid. Customer facing staff are wearing masks

How much! Cost me £4.99 for a chocolate milkshake that taste like coffee, ice and pee. Dreadful if you want to go somewhere go anywhere but here. Didn’t even give me the WiFi password when purchasing this. If possible I would give it -7 stars but I can’t. It even looks like diarrhoea. I want to talk to the manager. ~Karen baker

Nice sandwich and filter coffee on special price £4.50. I asked for extra milk ..was told rather brusquely by a cold member of staff wiping tables to go and get it...other staff were pleasant ..wont be returning ..poor customer care on first impression.A range of papers to read

A nicer than average space, good variety of food options and reasonably priced (except for tea £3.60!). The only dampener is one member of staff, she is impatient, doesn’t make eye contact and makes us feel like an inconvenience, however the other staff are cheerful and helpful. Unfortunately that’s the only thing that stops us visiting more often.

Nice cafe with great selection of food. Most things are made to order so you can see it’s all fresh. Good/accommodating options for children as well. Very good coffee and reasonable prices.

This is my favourite place for coffee in Sutton. It is pleasant to spend time here where the seating is spread out and less claustrophobic than the smaller Nero’s and Costas. It is in the shopping centre and you can sit out under the glass roof if you want.The service is always great and all the girls are friendly and efficient. You never see a table with leftover stuff on it. They are excellent at keeping on top of the clearing.Personally, I really like the coffee. However, I suspect that I prefer quite a weak coffee and if you are a strong coffee drinker it may be on the weak side for you.Another big plus...recently they introduced a loyalty card that is way better than the other chains. It operates exactly like the Boots card. You can spend money on anything here; (hot drinks, cold drinks and food) and get a few pence in the pound. This works out great if you are eating or have cold drinks. The other places only give you a stamp per hot drink.I haven’t had a lot of their food but they do a good range of salads, hot and cold sandwiches. Their toasted tea cakes are my treat and always good.

Reasonably priced, fast service, tasty smoked salmon salad, plenty of seating, polite and friendly staff.

Ideal for a quick snack/drink. Food is fresh and drinks are made while you wait. The staff are usually polite and efficient. Cost is average and they do provide papers and magazines.

The shopping centre itself is very depressing - lots of empty shops and cheap shops, but Esquire's advertises Fairtrade and organic coffee. I had a plate of soup, a roll, a coffee and a muffin. It would have been a better idea not to let me see the microwavable pouch that the soup came in! However it was hot and tasty. The muffin was nice too. The whole place was spoiled, for me at least, with around six toddlers running about in the large seating area reserved for customers. I finished my lunch as soon as possible!
