I've been again today 29.12.24 great again very constantly good I've been down again for dinner. It's well worth the trip from saltburn for the excellent fish and chips.

Called in today had fish ,chips, with tea bread and butter and a portion of mushy peas. Lovely fish,nice crisp batter, and excellent tasting mushy peas. 😋

I must say just called here for fish and chips they were the best I have had for years ,fish was amazing. Just got take away next time will go In and eat .

We called in for a take away! Checked the opening times online, it's was still 45 - 50 mins before closing, arrived to find the take away door blocked by tables (think lockdown 2020 style) I then went to used the cafe entrance and was told to go back around the other door and I would be served outside! No explanation given, It was an evening in the middle of November! ... Please don't leave your paying customers to order and wait outside in freezing cold when you have a space inside! I'd understand if it was 10 mins to closing time, but that is not the case here! food was average.

Siendo local siempre he apoyado este restaurante, de hecho como familia hemos disfrutado de varias comidas aquí. Nuestra última visita fue, sin embargo, decepcionante. En primer lugar, preguntamos sobre las opciones sin gluten, y debo decir que me encantó la respuesta - muy servicial y servicial. Todo bien, hasta ahora. Luego pregunté sobre las alergias al maní, la información proporcionada fue suficiente para tomar una decisión. Finalmente dije que la mitad de la orden era vegetariana, después de haber estado aquí varias veces en los últimos 8 años sabía que esta era una opción como anteriormente el restaurante han estado más que dispuestos a freír por separado en aceite vegetal para nosotros. A esta respuesta el ayudante le fue dicho de manera flipante por el propietario que «siempre pueden comprar un agua mineral». Si la intolerancia al gluten y el vegetarianismo solo estaban en la agenda aquí, puede que le haya visto el lado gracioso, pero teniendo en cuenta que una alergia al maní tiene un resultado potencialmente fatal, me hizo sentir bastante incómodo. Entiendo que las alergias se toman muy en serio en este restaurante, pero realmente, no hay necesidad de respuestas flipantes. Para añadir a esto, me decepcionó con las patatas fritas - estaban mal cocidas, empapadas y arenosas.

Went to collect fish and chips to eat at home - hence did not feel the atmosphere although the restaurant was busy

Beautiful fish and chips, with some appealing choices. I had lemon sole instead of cod and it was excellent. The staff were lovely and the place has a nice cosy feel to it. Highly recommended.

Hemos venido aquí durante muchos años, ya que en nuestra opinión esto es pescado con patatas fritas en su mejor momento, a un precio razonable también. Personal siempre agradable y servicial. Tendrá que reservar una mesa si visita un viernes a la hora del almuerzo ya que se pone muy ocupado. Nada más que decir que disfrutar.

We have been coming to Eskdale Fisheries since 2005, as part of our must do when we're in North Yorkshire for our holidays, The Food and service is always excellent. Best Haddock in the White Rose Republic!!! :)

For those of you not familiar with proper fish and chips, this is a fine example of the very best. It is not just the quality of fish & potatoes, the Yorkshire cooking style cooking it at the perfect temperature, nor the fish fryer knowing exactly how long. It is not just the correct perfect horns on the batter but the cut of the fish too. Which allows the full taste experience of finely sourced well handle North Sea Cod. Perfect! If you think you know good fish and chips you will love this and realise what the best really should be like. If you are not sure what great fish and chips is, this is where you will find out. Take out available and for sit down booking advisable.

I live in the village and this is my local fish n chip shop. Always good quality but paying tourist prices how about 10% off for Locals

Lovely place away from the hustle and bustle of Whitby town centre

Superb, proper fresh fish and chips, Superb service.

We are here whilst staying close by recently. The staff were ever so friendly and the food was really good. Reasonably priced (and they do scraps too!!). We got plenty of everything and we even got a little sweet bag after we paid!

The fish is delicious! We also had the smoked fish risotto and that was really yummy too. The staff are very friendly and welcoming - well worth popping in!

spot on thank you! 5 full kids 4 full adults not much left over for the dog. We parked on the road this places was busy which is always a great sign. We took our food back to Beacon farm campsite. When in the area we will return. Thank you

Had the best scampi ever, it melted in my mouth, hubby had cod & which he really enjoyed.

Proper Yorkshire chish and flips in a great location with parking. Cod was fresh and cooked perfectly. Batter had flavour and was light and crispy. I had a regular piece which was plenty, but if you are hungry you can have a large for £10.60. My wife had Whitby scampi and said they were the best she had eaten, and by the sounds she was making, I would agree. The scampi was large and for 10 pieces the price was good. The breadcrumb coating was crisp and not overcooked. Chips were tasty and the mushy peas and tartar sauce seemed homemade and both didn’t last long. There was lots of choices including pizza and all for a reasonable price. Staff friendly and all food cooked to order which didn't take long. We had takeaway but there is a restaurant. Apart from Mondays, this is open 6 days from 11:30 to 8pm. Would highly recommend and will certainly pop back next time we are in the area.

Absolutely lovely hidden gem. Visited today on the way to our holiday cottage. They do smaller portions which was just perfect for me, and the mushy peas were the best we'd ever had. Would be here all the time if I was local.

This chip shop never fail to impress us. Large Cod & large Haddock are actually huge! Piping hot chips, bubbly batter and plump white flaked fish, absolutely blooming scrummy! Yorkshire curry sauce is very different to Derbyshire too, very fruity and we like it👍

Had lunch here today - the Eskdale Special. Delicious as always - beautiful fish and batter, lovely chips and tasty tartare sauce. And the staff are great. Will definitely be back.

Had takeaway cod & chips. Quite nice except chips were very bitty. Toilet facilities not available to takeaway customers. After a journey of 20 miles this was disappointing. Also had to wait outside for order to be delivered to me.

Staying five mins away in a holiday cottage we called in for an early dinner and so pleased that we did. The fish was so fresh, white and silky and red hot with crispy batter. Highly recommended!

Enjoyable meal with a family friend. We had both passed the fisheries many times over the years so after a Whitby trip and off to do a road check a mid afternoon meal beckoned. Lemon soke and chips was my personal choice ... very nice with garden peas. Friendly service and clean surroundings. Parking cramped but manageable

Be aware you need to stand outside under scaffolding when waiting for a takeaway, odd. When you used to stand inside like any other fish shop.

Not local to the area but we were staying in Goathland and passed Eskdale Fisheries on our way there. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and our food was delicious. The fish in particular was succulent, cooked to perfection and a decent size. The chips were tasty too, not greasy and a good portion size. All washed down with a nice cup of tea and for a very reasonable price for sitting in. We would highly recommend a visit.

Most excellent takeaway fish and chips, big portions and piping hot. Superb fish, we had cod haddock and plaice, mushy peas and curry sauce, all great.

Draining deep fried food is an important part of cooking. The food was swimming in excess fat with congealed as it cooled. A beautiful venue lovely staff but the food was vile much of it ended up in the bin.

Came in late one night as we were hungry while staying in Ruswarp. Perfect scampi and haddock, chips, and the service was perfect. I'd definitely recommend!

Pathetic effort. Apparently a vegetarian burger is a solitary fried patty without a bun, any dressing or salad, wrapped in an obscene amount of paper. And as if being made to wait for your order under a dodgy scaffold in the wind and rain isn’t bad enough they’re too cheap to even put your takeaway order in a carrier bag…I don’t mean you have to pay extra…I mean they don’t exist. The rest of the food is overpowered with the taste of grease, like what you’d expect a 4am post night out takeaway to feel like…

Firstly, there is an annoying photo that appears when looking at this restaurant on TripAdvisor, showing opening days and times. Please ignore this altogether as it is from 2016. They are open every day except Monday. We both had large Haddock and chips with a nice pot of tea. The fish were enormous and had lovely thick white flakes. Absolutely fantastic. We have come across what is described as large fish in other places, only to be served tadpoles. It is always good to find somewhere that does what it says on the tin. Lovely meal, great staff and reasonable prices.

Ordered 2 large haddock with peas and portion chips to take away. The fish were huge hot and really tasty. Would defiantly return next time I'm in the area. 5 stars isn't really enough!

This fish shop is a firm family favourite. Haddock always exceptional, portions good sized. Staff helpful and pleasant. We have never had a bad experiance here in all the many years we have been coming.

An excellent fish n chips curry sauce piping hot and well wrapped. Gr8 service will use again. Only disappointing part was the look of the service/ entrance hatch resembles a San Francisco homeless soup kitchen. Wants taking down with two big hammers.

We were advised to get our fish and chips here instead of in Whitby by a local lady at Runswick Bay. They did not disappoint they were delicious and hot and cooked fresh to order. It is clearly a place the locals use it was very busy and worth the wait.

They always lightly batter the fish , the chips are good too, we always go in there when we are in sneaton. (Whitby). The staff are great too and their prices are really good. Lots of people call for a takeaway while we are there .. love their fish and chips, plus mushy peas.😀

Went for tea my husband had fish chips peas very nice side salad was poor we did not call that a salad it was awful sun was out blinds was open we did ask if one blind could be shut they did not bother

Stopped by chance with 6 of us. Despite many reservations fitted us in and served the most delicious food for us all. We cleaned every plate. Great service. Highly recommended.

We rented a holiday cottage in Sleights and remembered that this was a fantastic fish and chip restaurant from our previous visit. How delighted we were to discover that the take out food is still as exquisite now as it was on our previous visit...
