Had the special, worth every penny.Gorgeous fish & chips with tartare sauce,lemon wedges,bread and butter and a tea or coffee! Fresh,very tasty and generous portions.Ate in the lovely cafe area.

Stop here on your way. The very best you'll taste. Always excellent. Update: Called today ( 27/9/23 ). Good traditional fish and chips done to a very high standard. Excellent in every respect. Had takeaway cod & chips. Quite nice except chips were very bitty. Toilet facilities not available to takeaway customers. After a journey of 20 miles this was disappointing. Also had to wait outside for order to be delivered to me.

Enjoyable meal with a family friend. We had both passed the fisheries many times over the years so after a Whitby trip and off to do a road check a mid afternoon meal beckoned. Lemon soke and chips was my personal choice ... very nice with garden peas. Friendly service and clean surroundings. Parking cramped but manageable

Be aware you need to stand outside under scaffolding when waiting for a takeaway, odd. When you used to stand inside like any other fish shop.

Obviously a chip shop that added on take away during lock down, unusual set up for ordering, but have to say absolutely beautiful fish and chips, everyone of our family thoroughly enjoyed it and there was enough that the dog got a small plate

Draining deep fried food is an important part of cooking. The food was swimming in excess fat with congealed as it cooled. A beautiful venue lovely staff but the food was vile much of it ended up in the bin.

In my experience Eskdale Fisheries outperforms all the far more expensive fish and chip shops in this area.

Came in late one night as we were hungry while staying in Ruswarp. Perfect scampi and haddock, chips, and the service was perfect. I'd definitely recommend!

An excellent fish n chips curry sauce piping hot and well wrapped. Gr8 service will use again. Only disappointing part was the look of the service/ entrance hatch resembles a San Francisco homeless soup kitchen. Wants taking down with two big hammers.

They always lightly batter the fish , the chips are good too, we always go in there when we are in sneaton. (Whitby). The staff are great too and their prices are really good. Lots of people call for a takeaway while we are there .. love their fish and chips, plus mushy peas.😀

Went for tea my husband had fish chips peas very nice side salad was poor we did not call that a salad it was awful sun was out blinds was open we did ask if one blind could be shut they did not bother

Hands down the worst fish n chips I’ve ever had the entire fish covered in soggy batter chips drowning in fat , the fork couldn’t pick any of the sloppy food disgusting

We had cod and chips, lemon sole and chips tub of mushy peas tub of gravy whilst on holiday in the area. It was all very nice especially the lemon sole (all be it very expensive by comparison to our local chip shops but of course we dont live in a tourist area 🤔) and we enjoyed it. If I was to be very picky the gravy was a bit thin for my taste but that is a personal preference so not a critique per se....I would definitely return and I would definitely recommend based on our experience 👍

Had Scampi, Cod, chicken half and nuggets. All with chips. Served by a lovely lady. Restaurant was full but we had takeaway. Great food! The chips were particularly good and much better tasting than our local chippy. Highly recommend giving them a visit!

Disappointed with this visit to Eskdale. Used it for years when we had caravan in this area. The welcome was confusing, the food was OK but didn't expect bought in fishcakes/rissoles, most chip shops would make their own. Won't make an effort to go back.

We were visiting Whitby and Eskdale fisheries was recommend by our air BandB host. It was fantastic! Haddock and chips and smoked haddock risotto with side salad. Absolutely delicious. I’m a ceoliac and the chef was very thorough and careful in advising what would be gluten free for me. The staff were lovely - really helpful and friendly. Will definitely come again when next in the area!

Amazing place food was amazing and good portion size whole family absolutely loved it all hot water was served with the tea absolutely amazing atmosphere really nice and really nice for the family. Would 100% recommend to go for a nice meal. Absolutely loved it.

We live nearby and love Eskdale, we used to get take away, but now tend to go and eat in. Everyone is so friendly, quick service, and the freshest crisp fish and chips around, with a good pot of Yorkshire tea, thank you to everyone.

Had take away at lunch time. Food very greasy, batter from fish stuck to the paper and chips were tasteless. Asked twice for salt and vinegar was told its been put on and wasn't. Will definitely not be going back and definitely do not recommend.

Very friendly and helpful staff generous portions freshly cooked so piping hot on your plate, light crispy batter, definitely worth its money and enjoyed my cuupa tea with it. Absolutely lodged when left. Staff definitely deserve tips.

Medium fish? Hate to see a small fish! £17+ we paid for 2 medium fish, 1 chips and mushy peas... fish undercooked. Used these before and they've always been OK, this time very disappointed. Would have taken it all back, but we had driven few miles into the moors to eat it.

Best fish & chips for dinner and help for disabled.

I've passed by Eskdale fisheries many times on my way from York to Whitby but never called in until now. I've been missing out. I ordered large Haddock, chips, mushy peas and a breadcake with a pot of Yorkshire tea for one. The tea arrived quickly along with a tray of condiments, shortly followed by the fish and chips which had been cooked to order, served by a friendly young waitress. The fish and chips looked quality, the peas were served in a large pot and were piping hot. The haddock which is cooked in beef dripping was beautiful, big fresh tender flakes encased in a light golden crunchy (but not hard) very tasty batter. It was mouth wateringly good, delicious. The chips were excellent, nicely brown and crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. The pot of peas was a very generous portion and they too were excellent. Everything about the meal was perfect, the best fish and chips I've had for years. The café was spotless too. Highly recommended.

I am not a big chippy fan (my hubby is) and we were recommended Eskdale a while back and finally was in the area at the right time. OMG so good the best chips and scraps i have ever eaten and the hubby loved his fish and chips too. Can't wait to go again!

Why oh why have we not called here before. Everything was spot on, food, cleanliness, price, staff, location , parking etc. Overall this is the best place to have f&cs in the Whitby area. Oh, we also bought a dressed crab to take away , can’t wait….

4 start for a Fish and Chip takeaway or eat in may seem high to some, but the tasty Fish and chips, even though they were not cooked 'when we were there' in Beef fat as seems to be the standard in the whole Whitby area. But call in or book inside and you will not be disappointed, that's for sure. Great food and sensible prices.

We were on a short notice trip to whitby to recover our stranded daughter, absolutely starving on the way back home we stumbled across this chippy. The food was hot fresh and very tasty. I would recommend the food to anyone
