Emperor Chinese in Gloucester

The worst Chinese I have ever eaten. To be honest I am not sure it was actually Chinese. No Chinese mashroom in a mashroom dish, just normal mashrooms, oversalted with lots of onions. We ordered for 4 people - 4 different dishes plus starters and not even one person finished their meal. Most ended up in a bin.

Got my order wrong despite reading out what I ordered and I double checked with the server. When I got home I had been given the wrong rice dish. Used to go here all the time but since I’ve moved away from quedgeley I haven’t been for a while. Safe to say I’m very disappointed with this.

Great food and service cash only though.

Large range, expensive, but Chinese food is. Can telephone order. No problems with the food

First time using this takeaway but will definitely be back sweet and sour Cantonese was excellent

Chicken balls were greasy. Egg fried rice tasted strange, like washing up liquid in the container. Hardly any egg in the fried rice. Prawn toast was decent. Shame for nearly £18 it wasn't a great meal.

One of the best Chinese take away, I have tried in Gloucester in the last 6 months. Positive- nice range of food options for veg and non-veg. Service is good and staff is very helpful. The only negative is it only takes cash.

The service was reluctant. The guy who served us was surely & couldn't be bothered. Our Singapore Chow Mein was so hot (spice wise) that it numbed your mouth. I couldn't eat it, but my husband did he was then ill all night! I wouldn't get takeaway from here again.

Used to be a great Chinese but last few visits food has gone downhill. Chicken curry watery and mostly onion than chicken, asked for mild and it was that hot and spicy we couldn't eat it so went straight in bin. Chow mein was overly spiced too and unedible. Safe to say we won't be using anymore and will go elsewhere!

Very poor quality food. Chicken chow mein had just onions n bits of chicken, no mushroom, no bean sprout, no green chinese leaf, no spring onions and OVERPRICED ST £7.50. Compared to TAI PAN which is excellent quality with all the missing bits and with lovely sauce too ANDBM PRICED £6.10. Shockingly poor EMPEROR CHINESE A DISGRACE!

Ordered 3 meals - sweet and sour chicken balls/ chicken fried rice and chicken chow-mein. The chow-mein chicken was raw and we had to finish cooking it at home.

Small ,but perfect takeaway. We had the best meal. Chilli beef, chow mein, prawn toast, crackers. NICE…

Always a good meal from here, fast service, collection only and home. Downside is being cash only, however doesn't take 2 mins to pop to a cash point. Would highly reccomend.

Unfortunately these are the worst chips that I have ever had. They are rock hard and must gave been precooked. We have tried a few times, but chips bad every time. The rest of the food is OK but nothing special. The business only takes cash.

Don’t bother!!! Firstly, the owner/chef has an attitude and everything is a problem. You want half/half with curry, that’s a straight “no”. Okay not a problem, we have ordered one chicken chow mein and one plain chow mein, chicken meat balls and chips. Both meals were incredibly salty, greasy and just pure evil. Please don’t waste your money here. £25 straight in a bin. Also, chicken chow mein, that ain’t chicken. God knows what meat it is

Unfortunately I have a shellfish allergy. It was stated on the order, and I ordered a chicken chow mein. As soon as I opened it, it stank of fish. Which I wouldn't expect in my chicken chow mein. After further digging with a fork, I found a piece of fish. Probably cod, probably not allergic to but would you take the risk? I threw the rest of it in the bin. Sadly can't be trusted. Allergies are not a joke. Chicken should not be fried in the same pan as fish.

This is a takeaway / collection only Chinese also cash only. I had the chicken chow mein. There were plenty of chicken, nice noodles, and just the right amount of sauce. The sauce was a little saity but still enjoyable.

We recently moved into the area of Quedgeley after leaving Kingsholm which had a very good Chinese Takeaway. I was pretty gutted as I knew I was leaving behind such a good one. My wife and I thought we would try the Emperor with our standard order - Kung Po Prawns, Egg Fried Rice, Cantonese Sweet & Sour Chicken and a House Special Fried Rice. I have to say, it was more than excellent!!! And a whopping £8.00 cheaper than our old Chinese! We have been back several times and it has always been consistently superb. As long as they turn out food like this I will stand by my review 100%. The moment things slip or it doesn't offer value for my hard earned £££ I will readdress my review, but for now, this is where its at! Some great vegetarian options which my wife likes, plenty of parking outside and our orders are usually ready within 10 minutes of arriving.

First time at this takeaway. Ordered chicken fried rice, special house curry and chips from time of taking order to food arriving at counter was barely 5 minutes so it was probably all microwaved and not cooked fresh. Ended up throwing most of it. Definitely won't be using this takeaway again. Very poor food

Food is of good quality, although more expensive compared to other takeaways, but then also probably cheaper than some 'high-end' takeaways I guess. It's local, convenient, and nice. Set menus are a bit too fixed although they usually let you swap one dish. Perhaps an option to create your own meal but with a discount, say 4 dishes and the 5th free, etc. I would recommend this place though.

Our favourite takeaway, we have used this place for many years, never have had any complaints. Often put in large orders when we have visitors at home, everyone who joins us to eat are always very impressed with their meal. Consistent and good taste what more can you ask for.

Great - feels unfair at it is a takeaway so cannot really rate atmosphere fairly. Excellent food, service and great staff would recommend

Rang to say my order had chilli's in not what I ordered. Had been here many times. I said won't be coming back she was not bothered. So obviously she doesn't care about bad reviews. Not the way to run a business. Should keep customers happy and i wasn't pulling a fast one to get a free b

Excellent food, never had a bad meal in 10 years

This takeaway is one of the best places in Gloucester to get food. I especially really like one of the employee who works there. She has the warmest smile ever, and her customer service keeps me coming back for more. 10/10 recommend

We have been loyal to this chinese for a long time, even when they put their prices up twice in the last year. However today we ordered and again the prices have increased! When collected £28 they have always put a small portion of prawn crackers in but none, when asked they said I've got to pay extra even though we use them every week! The emperor has become extremely greedy not got any interest in loyal customers such a shame, there are lots of other chinese takaways in the area no where near these high prices. Sorry emperor but you have just lost our loyal weekly custom. Customer service and recognition and appreciation goes a lot further than just a greedy takaway that doesn't cre about their customers.

Best Chinese is South Glos by far. Cash-only as many of them are (just a word to the wise) but never any complaints from us!

They have risen the price twice this year, not sure why, but at least the food is still nice

Just had a Chinese meal, first Chinese takeaway since moving back to Gloucestershire. The meal was outstanding and great value for money,will be my regular takeaway from now on.

A really long wait outside for the order to be completed and it was expensive. The food was nice.

Ordered a few things this evening. We've had it twice before with no issues but tonight was different. Unfortunately, the crispy chilli beef was less crispy and more tough and chewy, I think I've broken a tooth attempting to eat it. The chow mein is extremely greasy and the sweet and sour sauce tasted very soapy. We can understand everyone has bad days etc and won't let this stop us ordering again. Just thought we'd let you know.

We did enjoy the chilly beef and spring rolls. The chicken we ordered (two dishes) was not nice at all, very artificial taste. Would not order there next time.

Always good. 10-30 min wait so phone order through but you can wait inside. I recommend.

I have had several meals from here. All very nice. If you see dogs in the picture don't worry as far as I know they do not cook dogs. For some reason Google has added a kennel my dog is staying at.

Had no intention of going to this place but as I walked past the back I smelt duck and I craved it. I got the duck fried rice and it was absolutely amazing

Got order wrong and overcharged when called to rectify they admitted they got the order wrong and would charge us extra for the things they got wrong which is a joke will not be going there again

food great when is there gonna be a delivery service??

Used to go here about 10 years ago and it used to be amazing! However when i went todag it was Very slow service, nearly 45min wait. Chips very crunchy, refried!chicken balls over cooked and dry. I have never seen a curry sauce like they serve here! Very dark, tasteless and lumpy. Would not recommend.(

Absolutely dreadful. Avoid going here to order a takeaway. I was made to wait for an an hour for two dishes, I ordered a chicken dish and a beef dish. When I got home only to find they had given me two chicken chowmein, and the food was awful, just a little chicken some sauce and loads of noodles.
