As always first class food, great menu and a good choice of vegan meals. The early bird offer is amazing value and still of the same quality and quantity. 👍

A remarkably impolite encounter with the staff unfolded despite the restaurant's sparse occupancy during our visit. While my partner and I were patiently awaiting service inside the establishment, I utilized the restroom due to the elapsed wait time. To my dismay, the assumed manager vociferously reprimanded me in front of the entire restaurant, creating an embarrassing scene. Despite our efforts to clarify the situation—that we were waiting for a table, and my partner remained in line while I briefly stepped away—the manager persisted in his aggressive behavior. Following this distressing incident, we concluded that no culinary experience justified such disrespectful treatment. The manager's inexplicable uproar prompts bewilderment, prompting this review to highlight the unwarranted rudeness encountered.

Had a takeaway delivered tonight for 3, I ordered for myself:- Starter - Lamb Tikka, to be honest was tough, not nice at all and 4 pieces about 1” square, 2 out of 10 Main - Meat Karahi, was tasty and adequate portion size, 6 out of 10 Mushroom Pilau Rice 6 out of 10 Keema Naan - no keema inside, 1 out of 10 The pickle tray was barely enough for 1 person only Can’t comment personally on the other food ordered by family but they weren’t overly impressed. Have eaten in the restaurant a few times and mostly enjoyed the experience, I will try again but if no better will switch to Voujon

WOW!!! What an amazing meal! I can't recommend this Indian Restaurant highly enough. I only went for my meal last night but I think I'm going to book again for later in the week (it was that good!!).

Terrible, miserable service (apart from the young lad who was nice), my "Garlic King Prawn" starter had never seen a King Prawn! Just little bits of shrimp with pitiful garlic mushed up with yellow lettuce. Main was Garlic & Chilli Masala, approx four 1/2 teaspoons of 'meat' in a burnt and bitter curry sauce. Absolutely poor. All other members of the family agreed, one of which only had one spoonful of his! As stated in another post, how do people come up with their good reviews is beyond me. Never to return.

I eat Indian food all over the UK (around 200 places now) and this is one of the worst I’ve had. The restaurant is tired and the staff don’t seem happy (except the young lad who was the best). The Cobra was nice and cold and that’s about it. Very poor quality meat, dry and overcooked. The sauces were all similar with no love or care at all. It reminded all of us as a frozen meal from the supermarket. I’ve no idea how they have the reviews they do. I never give people low marks as people’s livelihoods but this was very poor indeed.

We were away for the Easter weekend and being Easter Sunday wasn’t sure what would be open. We fancied an Indian takeaway and I found Emon Spice lounge, but then my boyfriend pointed out that as we were staying in a hotel how were we going to eat it! Good point! So we decided we would eat in. The food was amazing, we loved it so much. Unfortunately we are from Kent otherwise we’d be regulars!! The nann breads and onion bhaji were the best I’ve ever had. I had a lamb Balti which not only tasted great, it smelt great too. The prices are very good and we were surprised at how cheap the drinks were. Highly recommend! And there is parking directly outside. Thank you for a lovely meal

This place baffles me a little. It is by far the best Indian restaurant for miles around and certainly in this area yet the restaurant is always fairly quiet. The food is and always has been amazing. The service is great and the staff friendly. The Early Bird menu offers a three course meal for just under £10. There is no better value anywhere in my opinion. If you are looking for quality then you should give it try .

Just finished our “traditional” Christmas dinner at Emon Spice. Great service and the food was excellent as usual. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to a turkey dinner

After ordering a takeaway from Emon a couple of times and absolutely loving it, my partner, a couple of friends and I went for a meal. It’s a traditionally decorated restaurant, with well spaced out tables. You did not feel like you could overhear other people and they could hear you etc and it felt more safe than other places for Covid safety. The staff were polite and attentive, eager to answer any questions and food was prompt and absolutely delicious. We were not in anyway rushed to finish our meal and everyone absolutely loved their food and it was very well priced for four people with some alcohol. I also like that upon entry you can see the kitchen. Would 100% recommend for takeaway and dine in.

A great takeaway menu with all the usual's plus house specials. Items tend to be on the 'hot' side but clearly marked in the menu. All well packaged and reasonable prices.

My husband and I went to Emon Spice for a meal last night, we were really looking forward to it after not going there for awhile. They brought a “hot plate” which was only lukewarm, when the meal arrived it too wasn’t much warmer. We ate some of it, the best part of it was the nann bread, it was lovely, and hot. We complained about this to the waiter who said he could warm it up, but didn’t seem that bothered really, didn’t even apologise for thi. When we went to pay, my husband told the chap that we had been very disappointed with the meal, and what had happened, and he didn’t seem that bothered either, I expected him to knock something off the bill, but no, he charged us the full amount and seemed pleased to do so. Then had the cheek to say, see you again. After that experience we won’t be going back there ever again. It cost my husband over £27, what a complete waste of money.

First takeaway in a while, but just as amazing as ever!! Chicken madras, fab! Mixed starter, fab! Naan breads, fab! I would recommend Emon to everyone, can’t wait to dine in

This use to be our favourite Indian. But after tonights experience I'm disgusted. We had to wait 2 1/2 hours!! for our food to finally be delivered (we only live 10mins away)! to which when it did finally get here, my main meal was missing! and my rice was stone cold. when i rang to complain, he said that it was never written down and its ok because I didn't get charged for it. (the guy who took the order read the order back to me, so it must have been written down). he had no answer to this. he then said next time I called i could have a free curry and he would keep it in his mind! I somehow think that isn't going to happen as he wouldn't even write my name and address down. absolutely disgraceful service!

i'm always trying to order an indian meal that has that specific South African Durban taste to it... Although food was good, i'm still on the hunt for that special Durban home cooked taste Delivery was on time and food arrived hot considering the weather we are having..

Well, this is the first meal I have been able to taste as covid has left me robbed me of taste and smell. I’m so happy to say I could taste the delicious chicken pathia tonight, after nearly 4 weeks I cannot thank you enough. It was hot and sweet and lip smackingly gorgeous. Thank you so much

Tonight we have have had another amazing meal at Emon, albeit it was at home due to COVID Our food was amazing as usual. We had it delivered and it arrived way before estimated. Extra spicy Mongahlian and a perfect rogan Josh.

We have had food delivered from here a few times, always very good. Takes orders online very handy at the moment.

It’s been a while since I ordered from Emon, to the point where the delivery driver even commented. I now remember why! The rice was hard, and the minty lamb bhuna did not taste of mint at all, in fact it tasted of generic curry sauce! Also the lamb was so chewy and fully of gristle I couldn’t even eat it! So it just confirmed why I had stop ordering from there for take away. Shame as it used to be such a lovely treat. They really could own the delivery service in Brough at the minute but it’s been a long time since it was up to scratch in my opinion.

Well prepped for social distancing though a young waiter seemed a little oblivious. Service is never a well oiled machine but if you’re not in a hurry the food is usually good. I suspect the takeaway deliveries subtract from the dining area. I always have the onion Bhaji to start along with a chicken Biriani. Bombay aloo and a korma to share. Very tasty though I wish the biriani sauce had less vegetables and more sauce. They will adjust the heat of curries to suit. One slight note is to check as this is done at the till in a bit of a flurry. Been wrong more than once. Otherwise our favourite place.

Lovely family meal had while on holiday in the area. The food was excellent, best chicken tikka Balti I have ever had, would highly recommend

What an amazing place and lovely evening. The aromas of fine Indian cuisine greeted us just as we pulled up outside and on entrance authentic Indian music surrounded us. We were greeted with a friendly and warming welcome. The food when it arrived was out of this world and the chef even came out to check we were happy. The waiter was so attentive and then we were offered complimentary coffees.. If you are hungry and are in Brough orarriving by train it's just near Brough Train station car park. They also offer takeaway service as well.

Our first time trying Emon Spice and we wasn’t disappointed. Food arrived on time and was very tasty. Ordered and paid on just eat and the driver knocked and left on the doorstep as I asked. Will definitely be ordering again and hope to try the restaurant after lockdown.

We had a delivery on Saturday night, really craving our favourite curry place, and thankfully you’re still doing delivery, talking payment online and leaving the delivery at the door, thank you so so much for a bit of normality.On to the food, well it was absolutely delicious, Chicken Pathia for me, and chicken karahi for the other half, yum yum yum, thanks again, much appreciated and hope you can keep going with the service and lovely food, stay safe all xx

The delivery times were fairly accurate, around 1hour 15 mins on busy nights.The popadoms were perfection. The pickle tray seemed a bit lacking, I would have thought they would include a mint/yogurt sauce, but that’s just my taste.The starters have been fine, especially the chicken chaat, which was excellent.The main courses, madras and tikka masala were tasty, although a little light on meat content. I think they cater to people who prefer a little less heat in their food, next time I will ask them to increase the heat levels for the hot dishes, such as the madras.The rice was great, especially the fried rice, which I would normally avoid with an Indian meal. The naan breads were also very well made.I will certainly be back again. I hope to find some dishes which would make me give them the 5th star.I keep forgetting to ask to get a menu from them. It would be a good idea if they offered you one when they delivered. Their website lacks description, but if you find them through Just Eat, you get a more detailed menu.I recommend them.

Restaurant quality served to the door at take away prices. Amazing. The taste and quality never changes. Plus the delivery man is a really nice guy that comes across as waiter to your own home.

Stumbled across this restaurant by accident and very glad we did. It had been ages since we'd eaten Indian and were very pleased with what we found. Very good value, and great tasting food - many thanks indeed.Staff weren't fussy or overbearing, with just the right level of service for us. Restaurant was definitely popular, with many delivery orders being made, and the actual place about 60% occupied - not bad at all for midweek.Wishing you guys every success, thanks again!

4 of us - all regulars here - ate at 6.30. As usual nothing disappointed. It was quite busy being New Years Eve but service was good. The ambience was pleasant and the food absolutely superb. I have eaten Asian cuisine for many years and this is the best. Also the prices and value are great. 200% recommended.

Not only was the service bad but we sat there for one and a half hours with only a starter served,it was getting on two hours before we got our main meal, which was wrong. Not even an apology we had waited that long my husband ate it. .the restaurant was not that busy but they seemed to fav our getting take always out before serving restaurant customers. Then when we paid the bill they added an extra insult by knocking a pound off the bill for Getting the meal wrong!! First time we have been will certainly not be going back.

Friends and I have raved about this place for years.Through one thing and another, I haven’t been a customer for a few months until tonight. What can I say... very very friendly staff, delivery arrived bang on time and the quality of the food was outstanding! As always. My friends and I fail to understand why the restaurant is not busier... such a shame that people are missing out. Do not underestimate this place, easily the best in Brough.

Second visit here, only used the takeaway facilities but decent portion sizes, friendly staff and great food, would highly recommend

Strange place. Hardly anyone in and the place needs a good clean. Dead flowers on the table and musty inside. Food ok but took a while, odd environment really. Wouldn’t go back

Paneer was halloumi cheese, parata was flat brown bread. Average food and slow service, limited collaboration between employees and active listening skills were lacking on several occasions which left me feeling overlooked. The employee missed the opportunity to display good self control and empathy when explaining the menu.

I would say it's the best curry house in Brough and the place does delivery too. The service is good and the food is very good too.

Popped in for a take out , sliced my hand on way in . Was treated with a plaster and excellent customer service . Also left without my rice but was delivered in 5 minutes , can not fault the service at all . Highly recommended , been 3 Fridays on the front now , great food .

We have been to Emon restaurant many times and also had takeaways and never been disappointed. Last night was no exception. 6 of us had the special £9.95 3 course menu and every meal was the usual top class we all enjoyed every aspect of the visit

No excuse needed to visit the Spice lounge again. Been trying something new off the menu and have a new favourite.. the mixed shashlik ... so tasty and reasonably healthy .. served fast and with the usual humour of the great set of guys as the Emon ... see you again soon

We are lucky to have this as our local Indian restaurant. The food is always outstanding, Ahmed is always friendly and welcoming, and the prices can't be beaten. Thank you for a fabulous meal!

We have just been for an early evening meal and would recommend this restaurant. We had the Early Bird Menu which has a lot of choice and is very good value. The website description is much more limited than the reality. It includes a poppadum with pickle tray, a large choice of starter (onion bhajis excellent), a large choice of main with rice/nan plus tea or coffee for £9.95. The drinks are not overpriced and the few limitations are on fish/prawn dishes. Portion sizes are normal and the nan was large. Advise you to take cash as they prefer that, but we did use a card. Good and friendly service.

My husband and I eat here quite often and usually at short notice.The staff are friendly and welcoming but the place is never busy apart from takeaway orders.The food is always very good and we are often offered complimentary coffee /tea before we leave

The best Indian food around. 4 different meals 4 lovely dishes fresh and authentic. Can’t wait to return. Friendly staff and owner. In the seating area you can watch the chefs cooking. Spotless.

Empty restaurant, on arrival seated in takeaway to take order. Sister asked a question about why? And the waiter said "I wouldnt expect you be able to understand but the manager likes it this way." Which pretty much sounded insulting. He then laughed it off when questioned saying it had been a long day. The manager then cornered us at the table to ask what had happened and that just came across creepy and intrusive.

As always the food here last week was magnificent!

Great food always, been coming here for a takeaway for a long time and there is nothing like it for miles around. Staff are always curious and happy. The restaurant has a good atmosphere.

We visited Emon Spice Lounge again tonight and it was like going to see an old Friend. service was impeccable, food was sublime - we were looked after like family.

There are trendier Indian restaurants nearby but Emon Spice Lounge has the best food in the area. Traditionally cooked and so tasty. We love the prawn puri to start followed the chicken tikka masala with some delicious freshly baked garlic naan. My mouth is watering already I am writing this review. I nice treat once in a while great food and fast service in pleasant surroundings - a perfect Indian dish every time ... thx guys

Went with our friends for the first time. There were many types of curry dishes to choose from. The ones we had were very tasty. We particularly like the duck tikka which is not common in other Indian restaurants. We enjoyed the evening.

First visit and will definitely go again, lovely food, friendly attentive staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Met friends for early Saturday dinner, atmosphere cold and non-existent, average welcome. When the food came the experience got better and we enjoyed our meals, staff could do more to improve things, wouldn’t take a lot...

Not the first time we've had to to wait for food but 2 1/2 hrs for mediocre food at best is taking the p*** both had a drink hence take away service, locally known as as comedy curry I now understand why.....Dave the delivery guy the ruddest person I've met at the door.....if you can't deliver a service in a good time just don't....and I would be looking at your staff

As a regular user of the delivery service I was very disappointed with this evening, I understand that you may get busy, but unrealistic timescales and unapologetic, arrogant responses will make me think again about using Emon, 2 hours and 20 minutes is not acceptable.

Having used this previously lovely place (see my previous reviews management) have had 2 very bad experiences in the last 10 days.

I have to say and indeed defend this restaurant. I am a regular customer here and I’ve never been disappointed. I have tried a great deal of the menu and have found everything top notch. As for prices, I think they are more than reasonable. All in all this is one of the very best restaurants I’ve tried in the land.

Had Christmas Dinner with family and friends here. Full menu or turkey dinner was available. Some had turkey curry! Table beautifully set with crackers and party poppers, children loved it! A brilliant alternative to the "stress" of cooking a dinner at home, no prepping, no cooking etc. Just turned up to great food as always.

Wouldn’t recommend, rang to check early bird menu, was told it was on. On arrival told didn’t apply as Xmas.... annoyed as specifically checked. Questioned and waiter was abrupt. Poor atmosphere, grey hair in starter, expensive and long wait.... definitely will not be going back

This is by far the best Indian around. I live in gilberdyke and regularly visit their restaurant. And also they deliver to me. Service is spot on great service Don't no what would do if was ever to close down because no other Indian comes close to beating emon. Keep it up guys

I order regularly from Emon for take away, but haven’t eaten in the restaurant. Something I intend to change in the near future. The take away food, is always delivered in good time, usually in better time than told when booking, it is always delicious and I have no complaints with regards to that. I do have one complaint about who ever answers the phone to take the order though, he is invariably rude and doesn’t know the words, please or thank you. Thankfully I have used the restaurant for a long time so know that it is worth that irritation, however I would suggest that some people would be put off ordering by the manner in which the phone calls are taken. It really isn’t difficult to say please or thank you!

This is our second visit and yet again, it has totally met our high expectations. The vegetarian mixed starter comprising samosa, spring roll and amazing onion bhaji (possibly the best onion bhaji ever) was a very tasty trio. The Salmon Balls for my main course were incredibly tasty with many layers of flavour. Highly recommended and we are already looking forward to when we can visit again.

Wow wow just had a delivery of chicken pathia, shasklic rice and peshwari naan, asked for a 9pm delivery and was spot on time.

Felt welcome as soon as we walked in. Very attentive without being overbearing. Wide menu with everything freshly cooked. Great flavours from the chef speciality dishes. Will return for more.

A large group of us met up for a reunion dinner, it was a fantastic night with fantastic guests, staff and food.

We went to enjoy a nice relaxing evening but due to their ridiculous policy we ended up going somewhere else! We wanted to order some poppadums and eat them while we took our time deciding what to order only to be told that it was their policy to seat customers once they had placed the order so wouldn’t allow it! Why??! We couldn’t work that out either so decided to leave and will not bother going back.

Visited The Emon Spice Lounge recently and found it superb. Honestly some of the best Indian food I’ve tasted anywhere. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend anyone to try this pimpy food.

We have only ever had takeaway from this restaurant but it is always an excellent standard. The food is tasty and well prepared and the Chefs Specials are really really nice.

Lamb and spinach was superb and the keema mushroom pakora is flipping amazing, along with the rest of the mixed starter. I can honestly say the peschwari nan was among the best I've ever tasted, and I've eaten my fair share!

This was my second time eating here and the food is really good, the early bird menu is fantastic value. The drinks are great, I have had red wine on both occasions and its really lovely. The staff are so lovely, just great would highly recommend

We walked in and ordered a takeaway on Friday night after a few drinks locally, to be very warmly welcomed. We were a little unsure as to what we wanted but they were very patient with us and we ordered Pilau Rice, Mixed Shaslick, a Peshwari Naan and Poppadoms (quite a few). It took about 10/15 mins to prepare and was piping hot once we got home in the heavy rain.

This was our first visit to Eman after several visits to Voujon and the food was good quality. The food was good but I was a little put off by the waiter staff. It was quiet but I find it unprofessional that they used were texting on their phones whilst they had diners in the restaurant. It was also off putting that during our meal one of the waiters was having his own little snack of freshly prepared Indian food at the little counter in the corner. This is a good take away but I think the restaurant needs attention and it may get busier. Voujon on a Friday night is generally busy.

I ordered a takeaway for two last night from here because of reviews I had seen. I was not disappointed. Its was delicious especially the bhajis. Would definitely use again. Delivered by a cheery man too.

Last minute decision to eat out with the family. Reviews looked great so thought it worth a try. Service was friendly efficient. The food was excellent, my 7yr old daughter thought her Kurma was the best ever! Naan’s were just fab.

Great service and great food at a great price. Best onion bhaji's in east Yorkshire. Easy to locate next to the train station. Welcoming service.

Visited with my wife on our way back from Leeds. They were very accommodating as we didn’t have a booking. The food was fantastic and the portions very large. Had to be rolled home as I could barely walk after all I ate. Highly recommended.

As a group of 15 lads we went here on a Sunday evening in December. The restaurant was very quiet but the staff were excellent and the food was top notch! I will be bringing my partner back! Thanks guys!

It was Boxing Day, and for a relief from turkey and buffet food we ordered a take away to pick up, oh my it was Delicious! I ordered the usual chicken Pathia, husband chicken shashlic, highly recommend this place again

I love Indian food and this restaurant didn't disappoint! After poppadoms with the usual accompaniments, three of us shared two mains (Goan Fish Curry and the Prawn Imlee ... I hope that's how you spell it!) plus channa masala and sag paneer and every single dish was cooked to perfection and had a great balance of flavours. The pilau rice was light and fragrant, and the naan were the lightest, tastiest naan I have ever had.

I have eaten several 1000 indian meals and opted for a chicken bhuns and keema naan here tonight. Well worth the visit. Great service and food to match. Delicious.

Epic not been had a indian meal in couple months and wow, was that cod naga chilli worth it. Almost tempted to drive back and get another, cooked perfect beautiful texture and taste of fresh ingredients, great service and friendly staff. Thank you.

Emon Spice Lounge never disappoints. The dishes are tasty, staff are friendly and the chef is very accommodating. We have eaten in the restaurant on numerous occasions and also had takeout. Food is always top notch, regardless of whether it is eat in or takeout. We have never had a bad meal and it is definitely the best Indian in the area.My husband loves trying new dishes and often will have something not on the menu. Staff are very attentive and will recommend and explain dishes on and off the menu.If you haven't been to Emon Spice Lounge, get yourself there and try for yourself you won't be disappointed. We recommend the chicken jalfrezi and chicken keema balti.

This was our first visit to the Emon Spice Lounge simply because we couldn't get a table at our local pub and we were so glad we couldn't! The menu is extensive and very tempting, especially the chef's specialities. Dishes that we hadn't seen at other Indian restaurants made this a very interesting and enjoyable experience. We got there early and were the first in. The decor is plain and apart from the Indian music playing in the background you could have been in any kind of restaurant. It certainly lacked atmosphere until many others started to arrive from 7 onwards. However the food was delicious! I started with Sheek kebabs, meaty and spicy and my wife had Butterfly King Prawns. For mains we went with the Specials; I had the King Prawn Urri and my wife the Newabi Khana, with sides of lemon rice and Saag aloo. 4 halves of Cobra beer washed it all down. Yum Yum. And all for £40, can't be bad. The service was very good, although we did have a trainee waiting on us who was closely supervised and he did very well. I would certainly recommend the Emon Spice Lounge without reservation, and don't let the plain decor put you off. Its the food you are there for. We already have plans to go there again! I don't think you need to book as it is quite a large restaurant but getting there early will guarantee a table.
