Visited for coffee with our grandchildren. Ordered two latte coffees after twenty minutes told coffee machine not working given two instant coffees no refund. Place filthy litter on floor table dirty. Service awful

It’s rustic, it’s not polished, but if you want a drink and some lovely cake, soup, quiche, ploughman’s or a sandwich on your country walk then this is a lovely little stop! Popular with cyclists, and dog owners (you can only sit outside or in the ‘bike shed’ if you have a dog) there’s also chickens, and horses on the adjacent farm which kids and big kids alike will enjoy. Ita very cute and I imagine much needed in a little village like Whitwell.

Out for a walk in the countryside or on a bike ride this is the perfect place to rest and have a cuppa. Little craft shops and rustic decor make this tea room something a little different.

After hearing of improvements, thought come back here with family. We left disappointed 😞 whole areas stunk, and looked run down. Felt sorry for the three hens, cooped up in a messy house (one looked semi naked.) Nothing special here, not any thing fir families to do.

Just had a great afternoon tea with family. Lovely staff, so helpful and easy. The sandwich and cake selection was perfect and as much tea as we wanted. Great location right next to the old part of Hitchin.

Bar staff great. Pizza chef totally dismissive when I questioned what was missing from my pizza. Pizza dough very good to be fair although mine was missing extra pork belly and chilli. Chef basically ignored me and went back to washing the floor. Also don’t say “Happy Mondays! 2-4-1 Pizzas all day long!” Because it isn’t true. We invited friends to join us, when they arrived at 3pm the kitchen had closed

I used this cafe/restaurant many years ago and then it was fine, a good clean establishment that produced good food. I have been there twice recently, the first time a few weeks ago where I was not so impressed but decided to give it another go today. I went in there around 11-11:30am, I think there were two other customers in there. We sat down and a young lad came over to take the order, he wrote down what we told him and when he came back with the food and drinks the order was not quite what I had ordered, I ordered omelette with salad, no chips. The omelette came with salad and chips, I asked for the chips to be removed and more salad was put on the plate instead. The omelette was quite disgusting, it was greasy and I could taste the grease in my mouth for hours afterwards. I orderd two sparkling waters, they were served up in bottles with straws, now I am a man of older years and I prefer to drink from a glass, I asked the young lad for glasses and when he came back with them they were filthy, so bad to the point where I did not drink the water in the cafe but took it home in the bottle. I went up to the till to pay and the young lady on the till told me the cost, I gave her three ten pound notes for a bill of £25.75p, she had no change in the till and she was unable to work out how much change to give me back so I took five pound coins from my pockt, told her to give me one of the ten pound notes back and I told her how much change she had to give me, she still got that wrong and gave me 40p more than she should. All in all this was not a good experience and if the owner of this establishment wants to stay in business they need to step up their act very quickly or the will be the next business in Hitchin to go bust.
