First Visit after many years of consideration. Our joint retirement celebration meal as a treat for ourselves. Felt very relaxing and comfortable even if not the most luxurious establishment around. Very busy but the food was wonderful and we both enjoyed ourselves in an establishment which feels quite individual and genuinely local. Would definitely recommend but no point as restaurant closes down today (28/7/2017) as one of the owners is retiring himself. Probably explains the high number of diners taking their last opportunity to eat there. I am sure it will be missed.

We have eaten at emiles several times and always had a lovely time and delicious food. It was my birthday celebration and we met with my family looking forward to a bountiful feast. Unfortunately the chicken dish my Wife and mother had were so dry and tasteless. We obviously complained but little was done to rectify the problem.. they offered to give a glass of wine but this was still charged to us and only one meal was taken off the bill. The waiter serving us also didn't really Seem interested,...

Many mention the lack of attention to the surroundings and that's the first thing that strikes you, it's basic with a few frills to try and hide it. The food was OK, but under seasoned and often confused and trying to hard - popcorn with roast guinea fowl? It's hidden, but not a gem.

Having recently discovered this local restaurant, we have visited four times in as many months and find it consistently attractive and welcoming. Cooking can vary from occasionally disappointing and over complicated to outstanding. Their policy of constantly changing menus (apart from two renowned favourites) is a bit irritating as one hurries back to enjoy a dish only to find it gone. Apart from that, highly recommended.

Emile always makes the effort to say hello, and they really took effort in accommodating my request of a table for my mother who recently had an operation. This is very much a friendly neighbourhood restaurant but dont let that keep you away if it's your first time or not a local. Menu is great and everything we ordered was fabulous. The only slight negative for me is that the vibe is quite low key, it's quite quiet, which for most guests is what they're looking for. My family are loud though so I normally go somewhere with a bit more background music, although we felt very comfortable

La lista de vinos era excelente y el menú era incluso mejor! Yo, por supuesto, pedimos la ternera Wellington que estaba fenomenal, pero también tenía algunos de los quesos artesanales y embutidos que ofrecían que era delicioso y único a Londres. Came back here, as we always do, hoping to recreate previous great experiences. The service was faultless, but this time the kitchen had an off day. Bones in the starter and hair stuck in the serving platter for the cheese board was not very impressive. The waiter did his best, but was understandably embarrassed and apologised. Still we had no compensation or a proper apology from kitchen or management. It hasn't put us off going back, but we left with a feeling that the standards have been lowered.

Emile's has been a favourite haunt for some years now, we always try to have a meal there whenever we are in London, and we have never been disappointed. Until this time. We have become used to perfection, but this time the kitchen wasn't at its best.

A bone in the starter is acceptable, pieces of washing equipment in the dessert is not. Not wanting to ruin an otherwise perfect evening, we didn't make any fuzz about it except for noticing the waiter.
This was, however, handled well by the waiter, but we still did not get a proper apology or compensation from the kitchen. An offer of a digestive as we were on our way out was a nice gesture, but a bit late.

We did get an apology from the management later, and we will have no hesitations going back, and will thoroughly recommend the place.

We have been a number of times, always with friends who are regulars. It is a small, unpretentious local restaurant that plays in the big league and delivers. The menu is written on a large chalk board, posed against the wall on the table (in tiny lettering! I'm getting too old!). I would happily eat my way through the menu (skipping the oysters - a personal choice but two at our table had them and wolfed them down with great delight). The welcome is every bit as warm as arriving at a dinner party with friends (little surprise that Emile's does an 'At Home' service rather than a 'Take Away') and the welcome carries on throughout the evening. The Maitre d'/Owner never intended to be a restaurateur but thank goodness that he ended up in this profession because he is an absolute natural. Go to Emile's to feel better about life - which you may by now know is my best accolade for a restaurant. The food is honest with twists of very clever - my scallops were sensational and (subject to slight tweaks with the seasoning which will have been made by now) about as good as scallops can be, settled on a bed of leeks, bacon and truffle - wow! Two of our party ate the rump steak (not much in the way of conversation while that happened) and two of us ate the wild boar and sausage. The boar is a real treat - just the home made sausage would have pleased me enough but the boar steak was a real revelation... not tough and sinewy as boar can be but as succulent as pork but with a far more gamey flavour. A delight. The service is attentive and efficient, allowing the food and the owner/host to shine. The bill is a pleasant surprise as well. Please go if you can - you will be made to feel welcome and you will be very happy that you made the trek.

We booked a table for two while visiting the area based on the reviews of the food, we were not disappointed. The cheese soufflé, beef wellington and treacle tart are the most popular choices for a very good reason, they are excellent. My wife varied this by choosing the pheasant as a main course, this was good but slightly over cooked and a little dry. The room is a little bland but that is of little consequence, the staff are excellent and are able to provide suitable guidance on the dishes and food and the service is excellent. Having heard great things about Emile's we were looking forward to our meal out. Unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. Ambience was lacking - with stark cream walls broken up with the occasional splash of colour from paintings . Some wallpaper and textiles would have made the space cosier and helped to soften the sound reverberating from other tables. Service was also lacking - having been escorted to our table by the waitress she made no attempt to move the chair blocking access to it, on which sat a chalk board menu. It was left to the diners at the next table to move it for us. On leaving our waiter didn't offer to escourt us out the maze of a building or to collect our coats for us. We made our own way to the entrance where another staff member kindly then went to collect them. The menu looked amazing - and to be fair the dishes looked great when they arrived at our table. But the taste experience was disappointing. For starters two of us had salmon empanadas which were bland and had an overriding oily taste - although they were not actually greasy. The third diner lucked out with a cheese dish which was very good. For mains, I had the beef wellington which was cooked to perfection and is apparently a firm favourite with regulars to the restaurant. However my dining companions were not so lucky. One said her risotto and potatoes (double carbs??) were cold and the chicken pudding hard, stodgy and tasted soapy. My second dining companion was somewhat put off her dish upon overhearing the owner describe it as containing "a skid mark of red onion purée". We decided to forgoe pudding and went home for cheese and biscuits instead! In summary whilst some of the food was great, it was very variable and didn't match the expectation created by the creative and exciting looking menu. The ambience and service also didn't match expectations and Given the cost it isn't an experience I will bother to repeat. Oh and vegetarians beware the choices are extremely limited.

Booked for my birthday and for the first time at this restaurant. Situated off the beaten track in the backstreets of Putney I was dubious as to what awaited me. No need to worry; despite being seated in the basement the food turned out to be superb, the excellent Bordeaux second growth wine even more so. The patron's attention to our concerns over seating were comforting and he was exceptional in dealing with an egg-nuts allergy with many work arounds proposed. Waiting staff were a little over rushed and could have conversed more to put us at ease; however they were attentive and pleasant. I will certainly will be going again and wouldn't hesitate recommending it to friends, in fact we already have.

Crikey. The locals like Emile's. I hadn't been for almost 30 years and I think that part of the charm is that is hasn't changed all that much in all that time. I have to start by saying our meal was dramatically affected by the noise level. I highly recommend calling and discussing your table. If you want raucous the small room up top where we were is perfect. The other room, where you enter, seemed an oasis of calm and would have been our choice. The basement we never saw. As to the food, how can I criticise a winning formula? Ramsey would say the the list is too long to be consistently good I suspect. Really, the cooking is good not very good and I think fewer choices would allow the quality of each to rise. Menus on a big board? A bit retro but there we are, a modernising make over would mean losing something we all, deep down, love - familiarity. And for the Putneyistas Emile's has been delivering that, obviously, for ever.£100 for two.

Lovely evening with my sister at Emile's.
Food was delicious - we had Reblechon Cheese Soufflé with White Wine Beurre Blanc & Shallot Purée + Heritage Beetroot & Granny Smith Apple Salad with Goat's Cheese Mousse, Beetroot Dressing and we shared both as both were delicious.
For mains we had Fillet of Haddock, Hazelnut Crunch, Colcannon, Tenderstem Broccoli, Tomato Fondue, Red Onion Purée + Fillet of Stone Bass with Seared Baby Squid, Pumpkin & Turnip, Jerusalem Artichoke Sauce, Shellfish Foam (again we shared both!) along with a bottle of Huia Pinot Noir 2013 (Organic, Biodynamic) Marlborough, New Zealand which was divine!
For dessert we shared a Pumpkin Tart with Rosemary Ice Cream and a glass of MAURY GRENACHE NOIR 2014 J-M Lafage, Roussillon.
The only complaints we both had was that we felt it to be a bit noisy - there was a large group at the next table and the tables are quite close together. Also the chairs feel a bit low in relation to the table (for short people at least). I asked for a cushion and was discreetly given a pile of tablecloths to sit on (which helped!). Perhaps they can invest tin some cushions or have the chairs re-padded.

Decided to try this restaurant after walking past it a number of times and seeing the menu. Went with family and it was delicious. I highly recommend the beef wellington it was incredible! The only criticism I would have is that it gets really busy as the evening goes on consequently our table felt forgotten about for awhile and we wanted to order coffee and pudding. In the end it took so long that we just got the bill. Apart from that the staff were really attentive and the atmosphere was really good. Perfect for any occasion.

This is without a doubt one of my favorite restaurants in London. It would be packed every night if it was not in such a hidden location and off the beaten track. The menu changes every time I am there and it is a real joy to have the menu and each item described by the owner Emile who is always on hand and in the front. The food is outstanding and the wine list is great and very reasonable. A true gem.

This was the first time we had eaten here. It was well presented and looked appetizing. The food was very good. The waiter was very attentive and explained all the gluten free options. The only downside was we were a little bit in the back room and there was more atmosphere in the main dining room. Our veal was delicious, the starter was a bit meager on the fois gras. The other starter (pigs cheek in brawn) was copious. We would come here again although it is fairly pricey, we enjoyed it and as it was my birthday it was a nice treat.

Reservation process was seamless and my two alterations to the original booking were efficiently accommodated. Cosy restaurant filled with locals, feels like you are eating in somebody's house. The waiting staff were extremely polite, knew the menu well and were efficient in service. Food was creative and well prepared and the restaurant had a very good wine list. I felt the restaurant was well priced for the quality of food and service. The restaurant is well suited for a romantic dinner, dinner with two couples or even an adult family meal. Will definitely visit again and explore the menu.

As a child brought up with pie and mash at Maggie Browns in Battersea in the 60’s/70’s it is great to have such a great shop like this to carry on the tradition, cannot fault this, fantastic food, price and service.

The restaurant is located directly on the Thames and has a circular floor to ceiling glass layout. The ground floor is essentially a coffee shop that serves meals and the first floor is a restaurant. An ideal place for a relaxed meal. Good food, friendly staff, and excellent views of the river. The breakfast pancakes are not to be missed.

Such a beautiful town! The castle is a fantastic experience, staff were so friendly and helpful. The displays were stunning and well displayed, lovely to see. We were on a tour so couldn't spend as much tie as we would have liked. Highly recommend, hope to come again.

We were looking forward to dinner as a family in a restaurant with decent European food. Unfortunately they have changed the decor from what’s in the pictures to something much cheaper, which was a shame. Then we were presented with a Bar Menu for dinner with only burgers and sandwiches for dinner in a restaurant. Disappointed, we carried on and ordered the Chicken Burgers, one was burnt and one had the wrong sauce. They kindly took them back but then replaced them with what looked like the same burgers. The prices were also extremely high - restaurant prices for bar food! Unfortunately we won’t be back.
