Ellis's in Burnley

It was last minute plan and i came to have dinner with my family but we weren't able to have dinner as there were no Halal food options so we just ordered dessert which was alright!

Me and a friend had booked a catch up and booked a table for 6pm, it was very quiet as nobody else was there apart from staff, who was friendly but I think rude! we ordered drinks after our meal but all the staff was doing was cleaning up and wiping down everything around us which made us uncomfortable get up and go? We would have stayed for a few more drinks but all the staff wanted was to go? Food was ok! I would not recommend.

came here on a Saturday night. We were looked after by Maddie who was absolutely lovely, a real credit to your team! We ordered the sharing platter, the trio of sliders. Ten minutes later Maddie came back to say they didn't have any of the small burger buns left so we had to change our order , which is really disappointing. The food we had was lovely except for the big Mac loaded fries....unfortunately, the burger meat on these fries was cremated. However, the rest of the food we ordered was good. The building was lovely and warm and the place was welcoming. It was quite busy all night which is great to see. We need to support these independent restaurants, a great asset for Burnley. We will be back

Had pre order a bottomless brunch for 19 and a seperatetable for 5 for my sisters hen do the staff were really friendly and jess did really well the food was really good aswell

Really great menu, loads for everyone: meat eaters, vegans, sweet tooth peeps! Really nice staff too, attentive, friendly, genuine! Booked for 10 of us for sons birthday, lovely cocktails but the food was awful, pizzas were swimming in greece, ribs tasted awful and nothing like it shows in their pics, chips were cold. Definitely not worth the price as was expensive. The staff however were lovely but we did have to dispute the price as no body ate the pizzas yet they tried to charge us..wont be returning as its gone down hill , the place was empty too so not like they were rushed of their feet.

We decided to go last minute on a Wednesday night when it was buy one get one free. I had a burger (forget the name) which came with fries so I am glad I didn’t order as the burger was huge, however I did see others ordering the loaded fries and look amazing. My husband ordered the meat free burger which can be hit and miss but he enjoyed it, and again was enough. The price was a little steep especially when we had a glass of wine and beer but luckily the offer was on so didn’t feel too bad. The only down side was the toilets they are in desperate need of a face lift as is the stairs leading up! Don’t think they have seen a lick of paint in 20 years when it was a wetherspoons. Other than would return as burgers were great!

Great food, great vibe. Generous portion sizes. We ordered quite a few different plates with it being our first time and we were so full but very satisfied! Every bite was delicious, and well worth the prices charged. Husband also tried a milkshake which he raved about. Definitely recommend! I would advise to book on a weekend as I imagine it could get busy with the location.

Staff friendly and helpful..but that's where it ends. Burgers were piled high with mustard and ketchup...bacon very pale and not crispy..fatty was not nice. Milkshake...although looks amazing lacked taste.

Went with family for my son’s birthday. Firstly the drinks took forever to arrive then we ordered the food which came quite quick at first but the last 2 meals took at least 5 mins to come after everyone else had had theirs. The food was not even hot lukewarm at best the place was quiet so it wasn’t like they were run off their feet. The one thing I will say is the staff working were friendly and polite. I also accidentally left a brand new jacket there and on messaging them twice about it they have looked at it and totally ignored my message. I had high hopes as I’d ordered takeaway online and been impressed but all this put a dampener on my son’s birthday so I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Jazmine, Emily and charleigh were absolutely amazing for our bottomless brunch. Couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon. There deserve a massive tip!!!

We managed to get a table this weekend despite it being quite busy. The waitress, Chloe, was lovely and polite. The temperature in the building was cold and I unfortunately had to keep my scarf on. The place looked quite tired, the seating was badly marked and sadly quite grubby in places. The steps going up to the toilets have all black duct tape on them holding down frayed carpet. Some of the walls have been painted black and you can see where they've been touched with hand prints when the light catches it. This isn't the fault of the business, its the patrons unfortunately...but it does add to the tired appearance. The food was satisfactory but the burgers on Saturday night were completely overdone and very, very dry. The seasoned fries that came with the burger were piping hot....but the other portion of fries was lukewarm at best. I love supporting local independent businesses and really do wish this place well. It is in a fantastic location. The food was always amazing on Standish Street, so fingers crossed hopefully, when we return, it will be the same standard and all of it be piping hot!

Came in for some tea, lovely service by Emily, very friendly and polite, also shocked as it was also buy one get one free, highly recommended and we will definetly be back.

Always amazing food here, we tried the Bottomless Brunch and it did not disappoint 😍 You get an actual meal, instead of picky little bits- I had the Big Pimpin burger and it came with amazing fries. The drinks options were the best I've had on a Bottomless brunch. You don't have to stick to one type of drink, so I tried pretty much one of each! The service is excellent, the 2 waitresses we had were so friendly and attentive. They made sure we always had a drink and were on the ball with taking empties. It was my friends Birthday and they surprised her with a shot of her choice, a nice little touch! After our 2 hours was up we then played Beer Pong which is always a laugh. Good music, good food and good drinks. Ticks all the boxes!!

The burger and loaded fries are incredible. Really tasty but would be good if you could upgrade the fries that came with the burger to loaded fries. Service a tad slow despite not seeming that busy and toilets could have been cleaner. Good overall though.

There was a lot to like about this restaurant. Big portions, lots of choice of nice things and I liked the general decor. The popcorn halloumi was particularly delicious. I thought that some of the food could have been a bit better- the wings, though tasty, were too heavily breaded and my wife's nachos (I tried them too) weren't the best. With a few tweaks and improvements this place could really be something.

It was really good food but I felt like the potions were huge! I definitely feel like they should add more options on the menu and more of a choice of things, I ordered a burger and it came with chips and I wanted some loaded fries with it instead, a small portion but they said no and said I'd have to pay for the whole loaded fries and the other meal, but it would be good to have more choices and that's where I was getting at 😊 I couldn't eat it all and I basically paid 20 for a burger on its own and loaded fries, so it was a tad steep on price. But staff were friendly and no issue on service overall.

Took over an hour for food to come out, other people who arrived 15 minutes later than us received their food before us. Dirty tables, cold building and no update on when food would arrive. Children running around everywhere and screaming like it was a play centre. Food was nice but unfortunately won’t be returning.

Best takeaway we have had in a long time, burgers and the dirty fries were both amazing. We chose collection and the food was ready within 20 minutes which is pretty quick.Prices are quite high, I think we paid around £28 for 2 burgers and a fries to share however you get what you pay for. Visited Ellis’s a few times now and every time it is amazing. By far the best burgers in the area. Up there, in my opinion, with 5 guys as my favourite burgers. But then they have the added bonus of menu items such as the many types of dirty fries, Tango Ice Blasts and milkshakes.

My mouth physically waters when I think about how amazing these burgers are, I thought I had to travel far and wide for a good burger to places such as Five Guys. But not anymore because this place is unreal. If you haven’t tried it out yet, I really encourage you too. You won’t be disappointed. The review gets 4 stars from me as the staff aren’t the most friendly and welcoming. They almost make you feel a little uncomfortable and awkward. Been served by Ellis and he was super nice and how you should expect staff in an establishment like this to be. However I think the young girls possibly need a bit more training. Menu could also do with a tidy up, gets a bit confusing.

Took the boy for his birthday and between us had a kid's meal and 3 adult meals with fries and a couple of milkshakes. The burgers are amazing and love the variety of free toppings. Haven't been before but was looking forward to visiting with my sister for some lunch. We arrived at lunch time so expected it to be busy which it was. We managed to get some seats though as we arrived before the rush. Hoisin fries (special for January - Chinese New year) and pizza fries. Both were very good and very large servings. We ordered a hot shake each afterwards which we had a bit of a wait for as they had got quite busy and only two people were working. These however were lovely. Would I visit again - absolutely. We visited here on recommendation. Glad we did. The burgers are amazing. We only had the regular sweet potato fries but you could have had them as loaded fries. I had a burger with pulled pork and loved it. You can pretty much load your burgers and fries with anything. Will definitely return.

I have tried the burgers , fries and shakes and are all delish. I have a big appetite but thought a burger and fries was too much. The fries on their own is like a meal. So would recommend having a burger each and share a fries. Or have both and ask for a doggy bag. Deffinately going back and trying more things.

Are here on a Sunday thinking it would be a cheap and cheerful lunch. It’s far from cheap though. The burgers sound great on the menu and at around £7 each they’re not bad. Until you realise that fries are extra. Another couple of quid each, all of a sudden you’re looking at Manchester prices for a burger. Add on a milkshake at £3 minimum and all of a sudden a cheap and cheerful lunch is nearly £50.

My daughter went in here yesterday after not being able to get there due to health reasons for a while.She had a fully stamped loyalty card and they said it was out of date.I didn’t realise you put use by dates on loyalty cards.We couldn’t see it on the card.Anyway the server took the card disposed of it and gave a few stamps on a new card.Not cool conning kids. The hallumi fries were fantastic, I would definitely recommend this place. The milkshakes and waffles looked fantastic too. My son had the big Mac fries and loved them. me and a few friends came here for lunch. i got cheese and chips, the chips were really good but the cheese tasted cheap, and wasn’t particularly nice. The milkshake’s however have always been good, been here more than once for milkshake’s and they’ve been good every-time. my friend got sweet potato fries and they were really good, so if i’d to go back i definitely get sweet potato fries instead of cheesy fries, i’d definitely like to try a burger as well since they looked really good.

Visited Ellis’s for the first time since the re-launch. The food is awesome, the milkshakes are still the best around and I highly recommend trying the gangsta’s paradise burger! You won’t be disappointed.

Called in at Ellis's Snack Bar today, what a treat, fabulous burgers, excellent chips, not to mention there fabulous milkshakes and smoothies with every possible flavour to choose from. Burnley badly needed bringing up to date in the cafe department. Is also suitable for all ages. Service is excellent too. Well recommended for a visit.
