Ellie's Food Hut in South Lakeland

We had an excellent meal at the Rose and Crown last night with great service and advice from the staff one of whom told us that the Guiness Cumberland Sausages in the St Patrick's Day special were "blumin lovely". He was spot on, they were! The pub is lovely too - traditional with beamed ceilings and a nice, friendly atmosphere.

“Let’s stop for ice cream” we said. “It’ll be a treat for the kids” we said. It wasn’t. Honestly we nearly lost the will to live. Not the fault of the people serving but the convoluted menu of ice cream sundaes and milkshakes which each took about a week to make. We only wanted ice cream and were waiting around 45 minutes which honestly just wasn’t worth it. It wasn’t just us as several groups abandoned the queue while we were waiting. Need a fast-track queue for customers wanting ice cream only. Won’t be returning.

Great hotel room a bit rustic and stuffy but what do you expect from a 400 year old house. Room location was still clean. The beer selection was very large and tasty, just like the breakfast..

Just driving past, popped in to see if they serving food got a tableno problem, fast service, and delicious meal.
