I regularly stop off for a freshly made sandwich to take away. Everything is made fresh following the order and is just superb. I love a sandwich at lunchtime and I have never been able to buy one in the area that is anywhere close to the quality of this little tea room. The staff are charming and efficient. As close to perfection as one can get! If in any doubt try the coronation chicken. Brilliant. They also have a fantastic selection of very interesting ice creams. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Two things stop me giving it 5 stars. The price differential between takeaway and sit in is ridiculous. £3,95 to take away, £8.25 to have in. You get a place, a handful of crisps and a bit of salad but that does not justify double the price. Get rid of the salad and crisps and charge a reasonable price and I would be tempted. The second things is the cups, they are so thick it is hard to actually drink out of them without spilling liquid down yourself. Bar these two things the palce would be amaze balls.

Have been visiting for years. Extremely disappointed with a limited selection of food, no vegetarian or vegan. No longer using lose leaf tea!used to be amazing teas. Toasted sandwiches, now horrible. I had s brie & cranberry, mostly ring too much cranberry, soggy inside & the bread was not the previous quality & burnt. Price up from £6.95 to £7.75 suffered cronic indigestion - won't go back overpriced

We are locals and went to Eliza's just before the lock down. The service was terrible even though only two tables were busy (including ours). It was only 3:50pm so not near closure time. We waited for more than 30 minutes to get our four hot chocolates for the children and two coffees. And when we got them, the hot chocolates were lukewarm, so we had to ask them to heat the up. Not the service you would imagine from a nearly empty place. We have not tried again after the lock down, so they might have improved.

It's so good to come back to a lovely place for tea and a bite to eat. The staff is pleasant and welcoming. The furniture is nice and authentic wooden style. There is a lot of people that come here to chat and relax in the very comfortable experience. There is also wifi available. There was a few lovely cakes on offer which looked very nice. It's a good place to come for a chat a rest after buying great farmhouses food and perhaps some wine.

I come here with my wife three or four times a year for lunch. We always have the home made Lasagne and salad. It is extremely good. There isn’t much choice of main courses generally because it is more a place for sandwiches and light snacks. They normally have a quiche option but generally it’s a flavour we don’t fancy so we always end up having the Lasagne. We thoroughly recommend it.

One good reason for visiting the excellent farm shop at Secretts (with its huge range of perfect cheeses and endless foodie temptations) is Eliza's. This old tea room provides all the trimmings for a good gossip. If you want to know about local Midsomer Murders plots or the vicar's dark past this is the place to indulge your indiscretions. Meanwhile you can enjoy reliable home-cooked fare for any time of day. You'll enjoy sharing Secretts.

No veggie option for the cooked breakfast. Fine, that's up to the restaurant, no beef there (well...) especially given I'm not even veggie. But when I asked to sub the bacon and sausages for mushroom and smoked salmon I was first told 'I'll have to check' (why? it's not a ready meal where the constituent parts are inextricably linked, just change the items man) then told I'd have to pay for the extras. Hmmm. So I'd pay for something I'm not having? Superb idea. I didn't fancy pointing out the stupidity of this because it was a Sunday and I just wanted to switch off. So I ordered poached eggs. After a half hour wait, I received 2 meagre poached eggs. I'm pretty sure I've seen Haribo fried eggs bigger than this. Tasted bland. No effort on the garnish front. I'm not one for random sprigs of plants on my grub but this looked so sad that I reckon decaying maple leaf would have improved proceedings. No sauce. And it cost £5.50 and took about a half hour to arrive. Wish I'd listened to the alarm bells that went off when they said they'd have to check to trade sausages for salmon. I gave them a chance and I regret it. Disappointing. I say all this as someone who ran a cafe. And when you consider that Wetherspoons' Brockley Barge is one of my favourite pubs so my standards really aren't that of your typical Surrey-dweller.

My elderly parents have been visiting here for some time and quite frequently 2-3 times a week. They have recently changed their menu so you cannot have eggs on toast during the lunchtime period which my mother has had many times in the past, hence the frequency of their visits, however if you're a child under 10 you can! When I asked why there were no smaller portions for the elderly I was barked at and over talked by the lady manager who approached us aggressively, no compassion and totally disinterested quoting, "we are an independent so we can do what we like, we are losing money on the children's menu" !!! When I asked again why there were no smaller options for the elderly she barked back at me, "we can do half a soup half a sandwich" ....... I advised this was not on the menu and again she over talked me!!!! As they are elderly I found her approach and manner towards them and the situation totally unnecessary and very unprofessional.....they did not and nor did I, need a lecture and what felt like a telling off. As a Customer Service expert I found her customer service skills totally off. No need to be so brash and over powering. Even when I said that if they couldn't accommodate then my parents would have to go elsewhere she wasn't concerned and said "fine" !!!

I love this little place. Eliza's serves one of the best full English breakfasts I have ever eaten. Both the quality of the ingredients and the cooking of them are excellent. The 'Black Barn' sausages are superb quality as is the bacon and it makes a refreshing change to have properly cooked mushrooms. The mushrooms have colour from the caramelisation caused by the correct cooking process which gives them a beautiful flavour. Every ingredient on the plate is good quality and is consistently cooked beautifully all served by staff who are warm and cheerful.

The same high standards of customer service and cleanliness have been maintained and the light meal I ordered was great value. I was exceptionally pleased with the granary bacon sandwich - the bread was fresh, they were not stingy with the bacon - which was crispy (a rare thing these days!) and the service was speedy and friendly. We popped into Eliza's for breakfast and very nearly walked back out again. Firstly the service was pretty slow and secondly, the prices were astronomical.Breakfast is £8.95 (so basically £9) and you get 1 x egg, 1 x sausage, 1 x tomato, 3 x rashers of bacon and some beans. Oh, and one tiny slice of toast. Taking a look at the normal menu, they charge £9 - yes £9 - for a baked potato. I mean, come on....... seriously?!Even if you did just got there for tea and cake, the price of a slice of cake (fairly bog standard sized slice) is £3.Do you know what, I would recommend you go elsewhere. You can get more for your money literally down the road at the Inn on the Lake or even at Squires (formerly Secretts) canteen. Eliza's just isn't worth it.They are charging high end prices for very bog-standard food and inferior portions given the price! Plus the tables are tiny! They cannot accommodate anymore than 2 people, so you've nowhere to put purses or phones etc...We won't be going back.

Happy staff, great service and excellent food. This venue went through a bit of a tired period until the new team from Butter & Cream cakes in Milford took over a couple of years ago. Since then the menu has a greater selection and all the food is hand prepared to order. Lovely soups, specials and sandwiches are on offer plus an all day breakfast menu. Seasonal dishes mix in with established favourites. Their home made quiches, fresh salads and gorgeous cakes (made at the bakery around the corner) are real winners. My family love this tea room, the clothes shop opposite and of course the farm shop next door. Like the Facebook page for regular updates on specials and events. After a short break at nearby Haslemere, we fancied stopping off for a potter round a farmshop and hopefully grab a drink before the drive up the motorway. We found Secrett's Farm and pulled in, the farm shop was a bit prciey, they always are, and I have definitely seen some of the items for much much much cheaper elsewhere, but having such an interesting selection to browse was too tempting and I came away with several gifts. We popped in to Eliza's as it was close and had a cafetiere of coffee for two, and we both had a slice of treacle tart with lemon and clotted cream. The whole thing came to £13.50 approx which was again, a little pricey but everything was tasty and fresh and the staff were friendly and polite and it really set me up nicely for the drive back. It's not a hug cafe so I can imagine it being busy at times, and the loos are indeed outside the shop but they were pleasant enough with ample loo roll, however we did visit on a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't heaving with people. If you are in the area it's a nice place to take a breather, and gave me a nice community vibe.

Not pleasant. My daughter had poached eggs on toast - did what it said on the tin, bread was just ordinary sliced, more transport cafe. Paid over £5 for a kiddies lunch box. Two pappy white bread sandwiches with the wet, reconfigured ham. A packet of Cheddars, Ribena apple juice and a satsuma. Granddaughter took the ham out of the bread (very wise), wouldn't eat the bread - so ended up with the satsuma. My daughter wouldn't let her drink the Ribena as it is so full of sugar, so ordered a 'fresh' apple juice - which had a funny liquorice taste. Secrett's bread is lovely - they have some mini rolls, ham off the bone, ample fruit and some interesting healthy cakes and biscuits. Ok, so it came in a paper lunch box with animals on and a mask (which broke immediately) - but what a shame that someone can't think through what 3 year olds eat and how their mothers want them to have fun things and eat a healthy diet.Just too expensive, no imagination, no change of menu - could be so much better.

Lunch is expensive and limited. Good for afternoon tea. Noisy at times and toilets outside and you have to ask for a key to the disabled.

Met up with four friends for coffee, it was lovely, service was good. My only issue was the cheese scones were quite salty.

Wanted a place to treat a friend to lunch en route and was not disappointed. Reasonable menu choice with a beautiful homemade soup. The omelet was well cooked and presented. Lovely staff too.The tea rooms were lovely with odd gifts and cards to buy . The garden centre shop was amazing so have to return to do it justice. It is a jewel in Milford.

I am unsure if this is under new ownership, but I can safely say this has to be one of the worst places I have been in a while. The items on the menu we wanted to order were not available, the service was incredibly slow, although it wasn't busy and it has to be the worst cup of tea ever served. It was so weak the water was see through. The waitress confirmed this is a regular problem and gave us tea bags to add to our loose tea. This used to be a fabulous little meeting place, now I would advise anyone to go to the main garden centre door to eat or drink. We will not be returning there.

Convenient place to meet for tea/coffee in the Secretts Food Centre. It's been recently refurbished and it's lost a little of the oldie worldie charm that it had before, but the drinks and cakes are still very good. Parking is easy, and go to the main food hall afterwards for more treats!

Just love the chicken, bacon and advocado sandwiches and the fresher than fresh salad garnish. A real treat, with tea served in bone china cups. Agree with a previous reviewer that it has less character than before refit, but upside is that there seem to be more tables and therefore less waiting time for a table! :-)

I recently took over a business in Milford and find myself in the area every week or so. Have been to Eliza's now at least 6 times and always found it to be friendly, quick serving with a good range of food on offer, even on a busy lunchtime have squeezed in and enjoyed a soup or jacket potato. It's on my regular list.

I haven't been to Eliza's for a while, but always love this little tea shop. Very surprised to see the changes inside. The lovely country feel of the interior has been substituted with a big space of table and chairs in the main area, which has no atmosphere, is very clattery and devoid of any soft furnishings. The menu book needs to be ditched, as worn plastic, generic burgundy style does not fit with Eliza's. No flowers on the tables and no cosy touches....... ..... But, the welcome and service was good. Our tea and tea cake was excellent and there is an area with pretty pottery and greetings cards etc. This is near the till and not near the customer area. We enjoyed our tea, but felt very disappointed with the interior changes, especially on a cold afternoon.Suggest a few little touches need to be added.

What a pity. Having made several enjoyable visits in the past couple of years, I find that the tea rooms no longer take bookings. With a disabled wife it is just not practical to turn up on spec. Very disappointing.

Having travelled to visit this cafe on two occasions, neither have been made worthwhile.First occasion, arrived 15 minutes BEFORE final hot food orders (as stated on their menu) and was advised that hot food was no longer being served. We came in for specifically warming winter food.Left with no food - were not impressed with the level of service.Second occasion, arrived in the busy cafe. No tables. Stood waiting at the door for a good ten minutes, no acknowledgment from any member of the team despite them passing us... if you want customers, surely they should be welcomed?! After a wait, I called the attention of one of the staff and asked how long the wait would be as no one had approached us. She couldn't give me any idea and was very dismissive about the idea of placing a reserved sign on the table for us should one come available whilst we browsed the farm shop next door.We left, again, for good and will not be returning. I have informed others of our dissatisfaction on multiple occasions with the cafe. I am sure lots of business is/will be being lost not only by their own conduct/lack of good service, but also from our word of mouth to friends and family who have suggested visiting.Don't waste your time!

After shopping in the superb farm shop, we were in need of some substanence. After a very friendly greeting , we were seated and started studging the comprehensive menu (lots of very tempting things), we decided on the tea cakes which were excellent , just enough butter and the tea was nice too, with loads of homemade cakes to choose from , this is definitely an alternative to the costa and nero places, give it a go and enjoy..

Called for tea and scones whilst waiting for a physic appointment down the road. Sat quietly at a table not sure whether to order at the counter or if it was waitress service and after a short wait discovered it was the latter. Good pot of tea and a large scone just the way I like them. Cost less than a fiver, friendly service - no complaints from me

A friend & I frequently meet for lunch here and are disappointed that over the past few months it has changed so much. Gone are the special touches such as a chocolate at the end of the meal, no loose leaf tea with strainer, just a tea bag and no more Eliza's homemade salad dressing. The bill is now presented with the cutlery long before the food arrives. When I visited yesterday the final straw was when a creature crawled out of my salad! It is no surprise that there are no longer queues at lunchtime. People appear to be voting with their feet & we will be doing the same.

We eat here several times a week. Have just returned from a lunch, food good as ever but appalling indifferent service. Maybe it was temporary weekend staff? Normally the regular ladies are first-rate and welcoming. Firstly, the table we chose had not been cleared from previous customers, after requesting that it be done it was then wiped only after we requested. Part way through the meal we had neither knives and forks nor serviettes, these had to be requested. Ice cream was brought to the table ( and no customary chocolate wafer) before it had been cleared of first course plates. The waitresses (I think three) spent much time talking to one another at the servery, we always had to request their attention for anything we needed. We left at that point and adjourned elsewhere where we had a lovely coffee and smiling service. We make no complaint about the ladies and young gentlemen who usually serve us, they are delightful, friendly and attentive. To sum up the girls this afternoon looked bored and probably were there only for the money.

As the title says, it is much better since the refit! Although it was pretty before, with all the lovely gifts etc for sale it was very cramped and you could hardly move. Now it is light and airy, and the cream tea's remain as good as before!

Having moved to Surrey three years ago, we visited Eliza's Tearoom at least once a month and really looked forward to the ambience of a tearoom fifty years ago with the extra little touches. Visited a few weeks ago - what a disaster. The staff were indifferent, atmosphere cold it appeared that they only wanted to take your money and for you to leave. WILL NOT BE VISITING THIS TEAROOM AGAIN.

Fabulous for a Sunday Lunch all either local and/or british products. From the meat to the vegetables & fruit everything is sourced as locally as possible. For me that is a BIG PLUS of this restaurant and I truly believe what OUR farmers can produce way outshines what is imported. Field to plate in 48 hours! Sorry, no photos, I just enjoyed the company I was with and the delightful food which was all beautifully presented.

We had a very disappointing experience. We had chosen the restaurant to meet up with friends for lunch. When we arrived it seemed we were expected for tea - at 1230. Despite email confirmation for lunch and mentioning a menu choice. The lunch menu is light meals only, but even so the food was unappetising and poor. A big let down despite the smart grounds.

We were a mixed aged family group meeting for a celebration meal. Everyone at the Barn at Alfold went out of their way to make our experience special - the food was beautiful and the welcome and service was wonderful. Thank you xx

Absolutely desperate to find somewhere to eat with good basic pub food. Guildford has loads of different eateries / cafés / restaurants but all with a lack of gluten free dishes in spite of reviews. Then we found the Star Inn. Spot on! Ham, egg and chips and hunter's chicken. Just right for the occasion! The staff were friendly and welcoming and the pub has a pleasant atmosphere. It is in a very convenient situation at the foot of High Street.
