First time ordering from this restaurant and I have to say, the food was excellent!The special Biryani was outstanding! Best I've had for a long time! Well done!

Greeted with a smile, we all had an Indian beer and some popadoms with a variety of dips, fresh Currys with aromatic rice and soft naans to mop it up with. I even got a cake and a happy birthday sung to me which made my day. Thank you we will be back

This place has gone downhill. Staff are very rude. Saw into kitchen and it is vile. Overpriced food swimming in grease. Avoid

Visited Elizabethan Tandoori on Friday with two friends and we were all very impressed with the fantastic food and friendly staff. We had shown up an hour earlier than our reservation was booked for and they were still happy to accommodate us. We'll definitely be returning!

Late review for this as I visited 3 months ago, so I'll keep it brief. From what I remember, I came home to tell my wife we had to visit as the food was delicious. Portions were good size, restaurant was very clean, service was polite and friendly, but most importantly the food was very very tasty. Prices were comparable with other curry restaurants. I normally go the Ashoka, which has upped it's game in the last year or so (I presume it was taken over as it was so poor before), and whilst I am more than happy with the Ashoka, I felt The Elizabethan was slightly better.

Very good Indian restaurant, big menu, many traditional variations including quite spicy Madras curry. Cosy atmosphere, friendly and professional staff, thank you! No parking, you can find place on street or at miller and carter opposite.

We have used the Elizabethan Tandoori for several years, originally to dine in and now only for dine-out. The website booking system is too complicated, keeps returning you to the previous page and the in-house booking system is unreliable. Use Deliveroo, Just-Eat or other delivery companies as they provide updates regarding progress. Ordering direct does not, and our order was lost this evening. No complaints once it had arrived (an hour later than confirmed) and we will remain customers.

Took 1 hour 30 minutes to get to us on a Tuesday evening. Turned up cold. Onion baji was burnt and very dry, couldn’t eat it. Curry was very dry and struggled to it eat it. Won’t be ordering from here again

Took an hour to get food. Food was dry and not cooked well and my friend not found enough chicken tikka on food. It was a busy night I get it, but worst service I have ever experienced. Go ANYWHERE else

Terrible food. My son and I ate dinner at this resturant and both got sick a couple hours later. Do not eat here, it will ruin your week. Bathrooms were also filthy. Too much lemon juice into Dansak, too much Sugary CTM.

Had one of the best chicken tikka masalas ever here. Naan bread was 10/10. Even my lime soda was spot on.

We ordered 7 curries for pick up. 30 minutes later we arrived to pick up as per the restaurant. 45 minutes still nothing and no Comms. We spoke to the FOH who said 5 minutes. Another 15 passed and we was told “5 minutes” Eventually after waiting 1.20 since placing the order our food was giving Toni’s. There was only 2 couples in the restaurant. We won’t be ‘rushing’ back here

I took my wife after hearing good things, but very small and almost on top of each other , also the help are not singing from the same hymn sheet.

Decided to go for a last minute Tuesday evening curry, which turned into a pleasant experience. Staff very attentive and took the order efficiently. Drinks and food arrived soon after and it was great. Very tasty dansak and onion bajii. Young man who served us was great, deserves a pay rise. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Ordered this on Uber eats and the delivery took 1hr and 40 minutes to arrive on a TUESDAY evening!? I don’t know how it took a sag paneer to cook that long but not impressed with the delivery. Definitely won’t be giving the delivery man a tip 😤

Good food, dreadful service, I was seated in the back area as a sole diner, despite lots of tables available throughout the restaurant the waiters sat all other diners in the same space, we were all literally on top of each other, this despite the rest of the restaurant empty. It took 20 minutes for them to take my order, then a further 30 minutes for the starter to arrive. After I finished my starter I waited a further 10 minutes for the plate to be cleared. Then a further 30 minutes for the main to arrive. What I thought would be a quick curry turned into 2&1/2 hour marathon of frustration. The food was good but service terrible.

I was staying nearby and the restaurant was closed so was glad to find this hidden gem. The food was very good along with the service. If I was every back in the area again I would definitely go back.

Best Indian takeaway in the area! I loved the prawn kashmiri, sag paneer, rogan Josh, mushroom bhaji, just delicious and so flavourful! Will be coming back for more very soon! Arrived within the hour and delivered to Hassocks from Brighton. Also got 20% off on Deliveroo on Tuesday!

Had a takeaway which I have done for many years ,not the standard I have come to expect , food was warm and mediocre. £60 for 4 persons .

What a unique little Indian restaurant. It's worth going for the venue alone, but the truth is the food is also five star quality. The flavours are just perfect and there's no excess oil as found in most other Indian restaurants. There are some tweaks that Would make this a five star review: -The staff need to be more knowledgeable on the menu. They didn't really help with our choices. -The speed of service was questionable. I feel they'd struggle on a busy Saturday night. -Large portions of rice with a smaller portion of food was a big of a mismatch. Aside from that, we'd definitely go back again.

I don't normally do reviews but I was so impressed with my food and service I just had to praise this restaurant. Having been vegan for many years I've always struggled to find a good Indian restaurant as a lot of food is cooked in butter or contains dairy. Not only were the staff super helpful but they had a separate vegan menu. I really enjoyed the food and its now top of my favourite restaurants list. Well done for going the extra mile. Can't wait to come back soon.

Came for a family meal, left with a empty stomach and a lighter wallet. It took 15 minutes to be offered a drink to start. It took 30 minutes for our starter to arrive which was mediocor and a portion for a child. Once we finnished our starters we waited 45 minutes before asking where the food was to which was was told it hadn't been started. With this we decided to leave due to the poor service, the only consolation they offered was to take 2 starters off. They also charged £6 for a tray of dips that we didn't request.

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE! Took my grandad here for his birthday. We arrived and waited 20 minutes to have our drinks. To which we took the opportunity to order both our starters and mains. Our starter didn’t arrive for 40 minutes which we engulfed in minutes as it was so tiny and we were so hungry. 45 minutes AFTER our starters there was still no sign of a main. Tables arrived after us and had received food before us. We then asked how long until our dinner would be ready to find out they hadn’t even started it! Customer service was absolutely shocking, all the waiters looked so miserable and when I told him we’d like to leave he tried to tell me it won’t be long, completely disregarding the fact I told him We’d like the bill as we’d been waiting almost two hours. We paid the bill for two starters and 4 beers which came to over £60. (Including service charge) Staff tried to make no amendments for ruining my grandads evening. We we’re left searching for somewhere else last minute at 8.30pm. Will never be coming here again or recommending to anyone. OVERPRICED. NOT WORTH THE QUALITY OR QUANTITY FOR THAT MATTER. And STAFF ARE EVER SO UNFRIENDLY/UNHELPFUL.

First time visit for us and we probably wouldn’t go back. We went for a family meal for a 21st birthday for my step daughter. Service was very slow and our table was too big for where it was situated. Every time someone walked past they bumped into my husbands chair which was incredibly annoying. Drinks order was simple but came out wrong and the gentleman tried to suggest I’d ordered a tiger beer when I’d actually ordered a Diet Coke 🤦🏼‍♀️ We waited 45 mins for our main course after starter of popadoms. We had to ask where our food was, they said it was coming and they brought out hot plates. We waited a further 10 minutes and the plates had gone cold. Food arrived and it was luke warm, I was too hungry to send it back. I just hope the prawns I had were cooked properly! Floors sticky in the whole Resturant and toilets including the front door. We gave the staff a cake for our step daughter, they brought the cake out with the candles arranged as ‘12’ as opposed to ‘21’ and gave the cake to my 8 year old. 🤣 if they weren’t sure they should have asked? Won’t be going back I’m afraid x

this is now my regular. went on xmas eve and ordered the special mutton biriyani, came sealed with bread…. absolutely unbelievable. also ordered the special tandoori mixed grill… big metal pot with smoking charcoal in the bottom adding more smokiness to it… wow, literally wow. worth the journey out of the main town to patcham. guess what, got family coming down now because everyone wants to try their food. great vfm and brilliant staff. i love this place.

Whilst many pubs have moved on and serve up fresh and exciting dishes, I just felt that the Walrus is languishing in some rather stodgy old school food. The menu is interesting enough, but I suspect that the policy errs towards quantity rather than quality. Benchmark roast lamb with Yorkshire pud, was overcooked, and the Yorkshire clearly pre-cooked and reheated. Not great... A refreshing super food salad with quinoa and other bits and bobs was huge mound of ingredients which really didn't knit together that well - broccoli and pomegranate... The food wasn't bad by any stretch, but the impression was that the chef was just shovelling it out rather than trying to seduce the customer with his culinary skills. Good beer.

The pub is right next to the entrance to Preston Park station. Hidden away at the rear are a number of outdoor booths, covered and heated, ideal for Winter drinking and dining. The food menu is simple, with vegetarian and vegan options, and everything we sampled was well cooked and presented.

Waited 2 hours for my delivery, called and I got no info as to where my delivery was. Turned up eventually but no apology. Food nice but cold. Got 3 plain naans instead of my ordered peshwari, not great. Hope for a refund

Firstly food was superb! :) What was very annoying is their (I'm assuming) Takeaway phone was constantly ringing loudly behind us. The staff weren't answering it and having a phone continuously ringing behind us made the evening not as relaxing as we were anticipating. Food and decor is lovely but please turn the ringer down on your phone, move it away from the restaurant or make sure it's being answered so we don't have to have ringing in our ears all evening! Table next to us also commented it was rather annoying. Would only return if we would be seated away from a constantly ringing phone. Staff could also be a bit friendlier and smile when serving :)

We placed an order via deliveroo. First the order was an hour late over the estimated time, then we never got the order at all and it was marked delivered. The first few times the restaurant answered the call and said they are very busy so things will be delayed. For the last hour they didn't even answer calls. There's no point ordering food from a place that doesn't deliver and basically steals your money.

Incredibly poor service. Ordered food which never turned up and when speaking to a staff member over the phone regarding the order they said after two hours ‘what’s the point in sending it it’ll be cold now’ Refused to offer refund or take any responsibility blaming it on Deliveroo service, who in turn say the restaurant are to blame.

Absolutely 💯 great food worth the money

Visited Brighton and walked past this lovely little place which immediately piqued my interest. I honestly can’t really put into words how nice the food was here. The lamb madras (my benchmark for trying any new place) was in the top three curries I’ve ever tasted in my life and I’ve eaten hundreds, if not thousands in my lifetime. I always give them a personal rating and it got a 9.9 from me (even the good ones don’t normally get higher than an 8). The keema nan was very tasty with a generous and moist filling. Mushroom rice was top notch. Very friendly staff and a cosy experience in the quaint old building. I won’t forget this place!

We visitted this restaurant as planned. Had booked approx 2 weeks before and space was limited so advise to book on Friday / Saturday nights. Every starter and main we had was delicious. The chicken was tender. There were plenty of vegeterian options. The paneer tikka starter was delicious. Also loved the brinjal bhaji. Service was excelled, good choice and so much food i took enough home for dinner the next day. Will definitely visit again. But not in summer as only negative was that it was VERY warm in there.

I love the food here and the staff are lovely but the food was 20 minutes late after my order time which just isn’t ok. Come on guys have the food ready rather than being so disorganised. Times have moved on and if your going to survive and people will keep coming back then improve front of house staff. Also not on Deliveroo or just eat and doesn’t deliver to my house which is very local.

Shockingly poor service. I eat out about once a month. My home cooking is okay, so I'm not particularly going to a restaurant for the food, but more for the ambience and the service. I'd booked a table for 7.30. Our food finally arrived at 9.15. The waiters were uninterested and there wasn't a smile between them. One of my friends ordered a soda and lime (or some fizzy drink of that sort). It was flat. The waiter took it away, but didn't return with a fresh one. Instead, he told us (when we asked) that we hadn't been charged for it. Unlike Arnie, I won't be back!

Very good tandoori, the staff are excellently presented and the restaurant is fantastic appearance and presentation. The food was very good, it was ready for collection within 30 minutes. I have given 4 star because the tikka masala was a little bit thicker consistency to what I usually find with other restaurants and as a result I found that the rice was less covered, and got through the sauce quicker. Another reason for the 4* was that one of my family felt sick the next day, but I was perfectly fine, and the flavours were superb. I also had vegitble bargie, it was very good and the flavours were top quality. Overall I would recommend.

Nice food but overpriced. Slightly odd surroundings, curries were fine. Curry for 4 with 1 side each (rice or naan, nothing is included it's all extra), 4 poppadoms and 3 soft drinks and a beer = £100. Wow.
