Best curry in Brighton. Good portions.

After having been recently refurbished, we thought we'd try our local again. Great cosy little pub inside, with open fire and friendly atmosphere - new landlord very welcoming. Great house red and reasonably cheap too (for a pub wine bottle). We found the menu a bit limited if honest. Couldn't fault the ham, poached eggs and chips. The beer battered fish and chips was a bit on the small side, portion wise and lacked flavour. The cheese board won back favour though, and was considered the best part of the experience. Will visit again.

Bella Italia was included as part of a party package in Brighton for a group of 9 on a hen do! Our table wasn't ready upon arrival and we had no idea how they were going to squeeze 9 of us into such a small restaurant. We all felt very self conscious and like we were intruding upon the other customers personal time, as it was such an intimate restaurant. Once our table was ready, we were seated at the rear of the restaurant and one of our friends was at the end of the table, which was in the way of the waiters 'service' area (drinks, till etc). The food choices on the 'party' menu were very limited (choice of 2 starters and 4 mains) and the restaurant weren't aware that one of our party required gluten free options. However, a gluten free menu was promptly supplied and the waiter was very efficient & helpful throughout our visit. I don't think the food was that good, is very basic (even looking a other customers choices!) and quite bland. I have been to far superior Italian restaurants - this is maybe somewhere I would go for a light lunch and not an evening meal. That said, on this occasion the food was adequate for our needs; we weren't there for a special meal.

A couple of us went for the Calzone as this isn't on menus often enough. This proved a big hit and went back on another occasion just on the strength of the Calzone. This is a multiple restauarnt in the affordable bracket, but good quality food for the money. Set out to look tradtional the place was comfortable and not over crowded like some places in town. My colleague heartily reccommends the desert with the cookie dough base. wide selection of meals - generally as you would expect in an italian restauant. Good quality, afforadable price

I have been getting takeaways from here for over 15 years and never disappointed. One of the best in this area.

I found this restaurant great in taste and professionalism at its best. Yesterday we were craving for some Indian/Bangladeshi cuisine and randomly we choose it which totally paid off 😊😊❤️!Also, the owner is a wonderful person I must say, which is a bonus! Overall, it is one of the best Indian/Bangladeshi cuisine restaurants in Brighton!🤩😊

We really enjoyed our meal this evening - really tasty- generous portions and very tasty indeed! Will be our first choice from now on! Would happily recommend!

One of the best places I been in

Tried Balti Express after great reviews from friends. The curries were ok, but the Sag Paneer was Sag Cheddar. No Paneer anywhere, just alot of semi melted Cheddar Cheese with Spinach- very disappointing and not authentic at all. We hope this is a one off and not their usual way of serving it.

The Vegetarian Dishes Are Simply The Best, Don`t Hesitate to try them even if you are not a Vegetarian.

Asked for very spicy phaal, they made it very spicy, I'm tasting colours. I highly recommend it.

Balti Express is consistently excellent! Before going to them about 3 years ago, I got generally disappointing curry’s elsewhere. I then tried Balti Express and will NOT be going anywhere else for a curry. Keep up the great quality, value and service, Balti Express!!😁

Been ordering from these guys pretty much fortnightly for a few years now and have only been slightly disappointed on one occasion (everyone has on off night surely and no-one's perfect!). We no longer order Indian food from anywhere else. Have recommended to friends and family who also became converts and loyal customers. What more can I say? Check 'em out!!

Order placed at 7.40pm. Advised that it would be about an hour. After 90 mins I phoned again to chase. It arrived 5 minutes later. Onion bhaji was at best luke warm, curry similar (both needed microwaving) . Naan bread absolutely stone cold. A shame as once heated through the dish was excellent. Did the driver get lost? What a shame as it did take the edge off the meal.

We have used the Balti Express for good Indian take-away food for a long time and often, but during September 2019 we had a terrible meal. We ordered a delivery that took just short of two hours to arrive, and then the food was very bland, flavourless and under spiced. It was horrible. The food has always been good before, but this time it was shockingly bad. After many years of this being our take-away, I think it's time for a change. It was terrible. Very sad.

I love curry, born in India, travel to India regularly and live in Brighton! I can honestly say that this is the best one I’ve come across! I go there regularly! I can highly recommend it! Also there is no quibble if they get it wrong, which they did last night, but immediately sort it out! I highly recommend this one.

We enjoyed superb curries last night, big portions, the best curries we've had in a long time. We had three different dishes, all fabulous.

Take away order. Starters were reasonable, my main was Lentil dansak - tasted like a pound of sugar had been added, rice dry and not very nice. Overall one star. Will never use again!!

Food always tastes good, even if a little cold if delivery has taken a while. Lots of options for vegetarians, which is awesome!

I've been using this takeaway for a few years now. Always delicious and they are always happy with me changing my order/extra spice ect. They also cater for vegans and go out of their way to do so which not a lot of takeaways do. A weekly order for me at least!

had a takeaway last night, it was amazing, everything nice and fresh they even gave us plates and cutlery as we was staying in a hotel. nice friendly people. would definitely come here again.

The Balti Express is a take away restaurant in need of a bit of refurbishment, but that is not unusual. What is more unusual is the price of the food here. You can get a meal for around £7.00 around Brighton (even 'proper' sit down restaurants), but here in the Balti Express expect to pay around £8.50! If the food was good this might be justified - it is not. A madras was hot but not tasty. There are better, cheaper restaurants in the area.

I was once tempted recently to try The Agra at Fiveways just for a change, just to see if the extra cost lived up to their promise of being the best in Brighton. Needless to say that I'm back using Balti Express and even more appreciative that they do the best take-away Indian food in Brighton & Hove. Nice people too.

Been using them for years but its difficult to get through then you are kept waiting on the phone whilst they take other orders! So I tried Shahi Tandoori for a delivery/ takeaway cost £2.00 more overall but wow its in a different class. Better service and food.

The staff smoke cigarettes alot outside hand to mouth, in and out the front door touching the handle, and it blows inside putting me off going anywhere near the place, then they go off to the loo on the phone wash hands? Back on the phone transmitting bacteria back onto their hands that make your food.
