Museum cafe for the National Maritime Museum (free to enter). Some indoors and outdoor seating. Offers general cafe food at London prices. Food was good.

Nice, quiet and relaxing with stunning views toward the park. The large ship in a bottle is something that catches the eye.

We were heading up towards the Greenwich Observatory when we noticed the big ship in a bottle. Certainly brought a big smile to my face and had the museum café been open then we would have stopped for a while. Even if you don’t feel like stopping for a beverage, you should still go if only to see the bottle!

Though not that cheap, this is well presented and produces tasty food and snacks. Staff willing and friendly.

There seems to be a bit of confusion with the 2 previous reviews as Elior is correctly listed as being at the National Maritime Museum and shown on the receipt, whereas the other reviews seem to be based on another establishment in Southwark. The café has plenty of space and the staff are efficient and polite. It has a modest range of food items, but I was after a coffee and cake: white coffee and a slice of coffee and walnut sponge (£2.60 and £3.50 respectively). The coffee was very good and of good volume. The cake was a bit disappointing as it was rather dry and did not have many walnuts. Now their web page (forbidden by rules to include the link) says that the food is freshly made so I conclude that the cake seems to have been made earlier in the day and left out to dry on the display plate. Perhaps the fruit cake might have been a better choice. Note there is a similar café with different cakes on the first floor - I think that one it is slightly cheaper.

We had afternoon tea at Elior in the Refectory at Southwark Cathedral. The tiny sandwiches arrived 20 minutes after our tea, the filling was so small we could not tell what was in them. The scone was stale and fell to bits when we tried to cut it in half, and we had two marshmallows instead of cakes (maybe they had run out), service was indifferent and the whole thing was a non-event. Luckily the sun was out and we did enjoy that in the outside area.

There are hardly any options for vegetarians. There also did not seem to be too many options for non-vegetarians as wells.

As I was at an all day tour at the Queens House Gallery this was the only place to get lunch, as I didn.t want a full meal, as served in the Brasserie Restaurant. I had the hot lunch at £8.95. It was a stone cold vegetable stew, nobody had even bothered to put it in the microwave for a minute. It was served with dried out peas and carrots and stale garlic bread. The worst lunch I have ever had. The staff couldn't care less, nobody cleared the plates away from the tables, so we had to do it ourselves. Next time I will go into Greenwich for a meal. This place was disgusting and I wouldn't go back.

A pleasant bright modern space was grand for lunch. Giving the table number we ascended upstairs with drinks and awaited the rest. In short time a couple of pizzas arrived. And very good they were.
