Elgars Coffee Shop & Licensed Restaurant in Worcester

Very tasty Nepalese food with very large portions. The staff are charming and very attentive. The decor upstairs is characterful with exposed beams and exposed brickwork.

This is my third delivery from this restaurant. All orders have been Nepalese dishes or a chefs special. The food is delivered piping hot. I’ve never tasted food like it. It’s is so tasty I’ve been left a little speechless about the quality having ordered from all over Worcester. This is a must for someone that wants something different.

What a lovely little coffee shop. We visited on spec and had a beautiful light lunch. My jacket potato with Mediterranean veg was flavoursome and plentiful. My partner had a toastie. Lovely thick slices of toasted bread with plenty of filling. Service was polite and friendly, right upon entering (welcomed with a warm smile) and was the same throughout. We visit Worcester quite often, and we will undoubtedly visit this great coffee shop again ☺️

Had an absolutely fabulous home delivery tonight !! Truly awesome with delicious ,tasty, generous portions,reasonably priced and delivered on time at 7pm as promised!! Could not fault it .....truly amazing! We will be back very soon! Thank you so much deeply ! Cath Wood.

I’ve been to this coffee shop lots of times over the years and it’s one of the best in Worcester. The staff are very polite and friendly, the quality of the food is first rate and the prices represent excellent value. The premises are tucked away in a pleasant arcade. You have a choice of seating - either outside in the passageway (good on a hot day), inside on the ground floor (ideal if you have mobility problems) or upstairs if you want somewhere quieter. All in all a very nice place to have coffee or a light snack.

I decided I would go there for lunch. I had checked several pubs some not serving food or booking's only. I remembered seeing it online. I went for one of the paninis . This was very good . I can't complain on that or qualify of cake. One important thing they have a lot of seating upstairs and no lift due to the age of the building. In summer months you could sit outside but there is limited inside seating. No disabled toilet and I don't know of an alternative.

Very happy I chose Elgars after reading reviews here on TripAdvisor. Staff were friendly and helpful, even though it was towards the end of that service. Enjoyed the lentil soup very much and chose a small Greek Salad to accompany it. The granary bread was tasty and after that did not plan to have dessert. But hearing other diners comment on the moistness of the cake, well, took home a slice of carrot cake AND a slice of coffee and walnut.

We had such a great meal here tonight. Both of us tried something different and throughly enjoyed it! Great service, really friendly and helpful team, we will be back to try more

This is special ! 4th takeaway from here now, with all different chefs specials - wow. I should think this is going to take the lead in Worcs for indian / asian food. Every dish different and so flavoursome, with quality ingredients.

A quality restaurant, outstanding decor & staff, so friendly & smart in their uniforms! Very clean, classy venue, the service was excellent! Our meals were outstanding, so thank you to everyone for such a pleasant experience! We shall return soon.

Had a nice coffee. Didn’t have to wait long for it, and seemed reasonably priced. Clean cafe and nice atmosphere.

£4 each for a small hot chocolate with cream, made using powder, which was not dissolved properly and literally overflowing the cup to the point that the saucer had 5mm of the drink in it! And waited nearly 15 minutes for this to be served to the table. Not a great service, nor product and overpriced for what it was.

I have been coming to Elgars coffee shop for many years and I have always had excellent food. I was therefore really excited to experience the new evening menus and I was not disappointed. My husband and I chose traditional Nepalese starters and mains and the food was outstanding. We also had light, freshly cooked poppadoms with a selection of chutneys and the naan bread was the best we'd ever tasted. The service, as always, was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be going back.

In Worcester so decided to have a coffee. Friendly staff, good service and coffees were good. What more could you want.

I have eaten here several times under the old management and always had a five star experience. This time I was slightly disappointed. I ordered a ham sandwich which contained good quality ham and had a side of apricot chutney. However, the butter was scarce, so much so that there was only a slight amount in the middle of the bread. May be they had run out and making cut backs. but the the price we paid I think this was a shame. My partner had a cheese and ham toastie. It had barley seen the toaster. Furthermore, the waitress did not no what the soup of the day was and needed to ask. I would have thought that she would be aware of this at the beginning of the shift. Although, we were both disappointed with our food, the place was clean and the ingredients was of high standard,. I will return and order the same. If still not up to scratch sadly that will be my last visit

In the centre of town but not in the hustle and bustle of the pubs. You can sit outside all year round and enjoy eating in a lovely courtyard or inside. Food is reasonably priced and good portion sizes. Staff are really friendly and the chef came out to check on how we were enjoying the food. Clearly home cooked food, onion Bhaji’s gorgeous as was all the food. They do take away as well. We have also had afternoon drinks and cake…really nice cakes. Some of the lunches we saw coming out looked great so will be going back for a lunch and definitely the evening cuisine.

3rd time of dining in this new Ghurka restaurant, once again it did not disappoint. Food was delicious, staff pleasant, welcoming and attentive. Will definately be back, really worth a try if your in Worcester.

I believe the restaurant has only been open for a few weeks , and is no longer the Turkish coffee shop. Anyway , we decided as a family to book a meal at a genuin Nepalese restaurant . This place did not disapoint, great very friendly staff , clean and well decorated restaurant. Even the chef came out to welcome us . Would thoroughly recommend.

Wonderful cuisine. I've had a pretty good experience with Nepalese traditional lamb choila and unique Gurkha beer. Friendly staff and a lovely setting for a date night out over supper.

We had family visiting from abroad a couple of weeks ago and took them here on the Saturday evening for dinner. Service was great and food was lovely. Clear plates all round. We’ve since had a take away and food was just as good.

We have eaten here before, but a long time ago, I now wonder why we have left it so long to return. Plenty of outside seating in an arcade which offers shelter from the rain. The waitress who served us was friendly and efficient, we found the lunch a very relaxing experience. The final bill was very reasonable, considering the quality of the food, and we enjoyed the Turkish twist to some of the dishes. No wonder the place was so busy, we certainly wont leave it so long to return.

What a treat ! Had second takeaway in a month tonight. This place is superb and different from the rest. This is not a 'one sauce' fits all dishes, everything is individual and flavoursome, with quality meat. Superb!

The staff today were just amazing. My little girl ( 12 days old) woke up for a feed just as my food arrived and they brought me a freshly cooked meal after she had finished feeding. Good was delicious and reasonably priced.

Despite it's name this restaurant has a Turkish flavour. Outside seating mainly (under cover.. see photo ) is very pleasant in the summer. A good varied menu with Turkish specials is offered at fair prices with quick service. Highly recommended

I attended here last week and ordered a ham sandwich. Very disappointed on the quality of the ham which was cheap reconstituted ham. Put your prices down or upgrade the ham.

Caught in a rainstorm and this restaurant looked ideal especially as it did all day breakfast and Turkish coffee but put off my food by pictures of Boris Johnson visiting the place. Why would anybody want to display that?

I love this restaurant. Always a warm welcome, excellent and generous food, wonderful decor and great value for money. Lunch today was chicken and bacon salad which was beautifully presented, as was my friend's pear and walnut salad. Both came with a choice of bread and the granary was the perfect accompaniment. The staff are excellent, friendly and always make us feel special and the owner always makes a point of thanking customers whenever possible and wishing them well

Spotted Elgar’s on Trip Advisor and booked for a late breakfast (11:00).Set in a covered arcade, we were greeted by Mustafa who was tending tables along with his staff. A really lovely guy..We all had a very well prepared & presented full English, which was fabulous. Looking at the menus and the cakes on offer it’s easy to see why this place is so popular.Well worth the visit, very well priced and we’ll definitely re-visit when next in Worcester.

Came here early on a Saturday morning, gentleman that served us was welcoming and accommodating to my slightly off-menu order. Excellent value for money and the coffee got a big thumbs up. We sat outside, it’s really unique but traditional- felt like we were on holiday! Inside is huge and perfectly clean, we will definitely be back to try one of their delicious looking cakes!

The atmosphere of this establishment is only surpassed by the to die for food, its quality far surpasses and delectable flavour makes many other trips to other local restaurants pale in comparison. this is five star material if ive ever scene it, and you owe it to yourself if you are in the area to try anything on the menu. I have been countless times i can tell you from experience all meals share the same quality and deliciousness regardless of your order. i personally always try the soup of the day and couple it with a white bread cheese toasty, perfect for a winters lunch. The atmosphere in general is lovely with the staff always on hand to help, and the music is the perfect level of white noise so as to not disturb the diners. I hope my review changes your mind and makes you think twice before heading to the nearest MacDonald branch. in summary if you like delicious food, great atmosphere polite staff and a good time all for extremely reasonable prices give this establishment a try.

Our second visit to Elgar’s and this place really is a hidden gem. I had the panini and my partner the jacket potato. There was lots of it and superb quality. Can’t wait to visit Worcester again to sample some more of their delights.

So today we visited the premises of Elgars coffee shop, and what an absolute disappointment .we arrived at 2.45 pm and decided to sit upstairs where their was plenty of empty seating and fairly quite ,it was last minute decision as everywhere else we had tried was full, that should of been a warning sign , why this place was empty ! .We ordered two highly priced sandwiches off the menu one being cheese and the other ham ..both with chutney and two coffees .by the time I had taken off my coat and put it on the back of the chair the food was at our table literally no longer than two minutes , Both of the plates looked like the sandwiches had been thrown on the plate ,the ham was cheap and so was the grated cheese and their was so much chutney on the bread it was wet ,it was a total mess and totally inedible ,the salad was brown it was dreadful. I scraped the chutney off both of the sandwiches and tried to eat some of it ,but it was foul .i don't think I have ever eaten anything so disgusting in my life.When the waitress came back I explained to her that it was the worst food I have ever had .The manager then came over , this was like something off faulty towers , only he had an answer for everyhing I complained about ,I explained about the poor quality food ,the brown salad , that he told me they prepare first thing in the morning ,that being 10am were his words , that would be why the salad is so brown . It takes two minutes to slice a bit of fresh salad ,he told me he had been in this business 20 year , well then you really need to go and update you customer service skills ,he accepted no responsibility for the poor quality of the food ,the dirty uniformed kitchen staff ,and still charging us for food we never ate ,needless to say that I will never return to this establishment over priced rubbish and it's hardly a business to be proud of ,don't be fooled by the owner and his lack of incompetence and standards .

Been many years since visited this cafe. It is still good, very nice cakes and coffee was very good. Outside seating area in a covered arcade and plenty inside. A little expensive maybe but good quality.

We had lunch here recently, I had a very nice full english breakfast & my partner had toasted tea cake. Not been here for a while, its a great friendly place to eat with good food but the menus never seem to change, even the specials are items off the usual menu. Good food but more variation please.

We were looking for somewhere for a quick sandwich and came across this place, down a side alley but well signed. We had 3 different sandwiches which were all very nice, but thought the bill at nearly £30 (including drinks), was a little steep. Not sure if the coffee was some special mix but it was very strong. All in all as per the header, nice but expensive.

Can be very busy and a bit chaotic. Food is ok, nothing special to shout about. If you are just looking for a sit down and something easy for lunch then it’s not a bad place to pick! Prices are reasonable.

As part of a day out, decided to visit Worcester amongst other places. Tempted to pause for a quick break and happened upon Elgar’s.Good choice of snacks, cake, baguettes, sandwiches, teas, coffees. We settled on scones, jam, butter and clotted cream with a pot of tea each. Very large, homemade scone, two pats of butter each, individual jam and individual fresh clotted cream. Well presented with very friendly management and waiting staff, very enjoyable and wonderful surroundings.A tad more expensive than the average, but not outrageous. Will visit again.

popped in here for breakfast with the wife , very tasty and great service being a bloke I would of liked a bigger portion but still £8.95 for 2 bacon 2 sausage ,egg, beans ,mushrooms and half a tom with 2 small portions of toast and includes tea or coffee , very friendly staff with a Turkish theme very clean and welcoming only down side for me was that even though the toilets were very clean they were dated and in need of a freshen up all in all worth a 4 star rating toilets were upstairs not sure if loos downstairs for customers with disability

Ordered a round of toast, Granary, and two coffees. The coffees were acceptable, by the look of it Taylors of Harrogate. The toast, however, the simplest thing of all, was black and had been scraped, yes, scraped, like Mum used to do when we were kids. The manager seemed to think this was ok, but agreed to change it. He then got two pieces of processed half and half from behind his counter,I saw him do this. These were then shown the grill very briefly and presented to us. This was not the Granary we ordered. We were made to feel like we were wrong. He then showed us a piece of granary, as if we were stupid. Two pieces of granary arrived 20 seconds later having just looked at a toaster. Simple order stuffed up three times. Made to feel like it was our fault. It was only toast F.F.S. Sh.all not be visiting again

Visited as looked very nice from the outside and offered reasonably priced coffee and home made sponge cake - this was namely Victoria Sponge and Carrot Cake

A hidden treasure! We had the Christmas Fayre lunch menu. Good choices of mains, salads and sandwiches with a continental flavour. Would recommend.

Never been here before but thought we would pop in to warm up with coffee and cake. It seemed to drain you of all life on entry! A very old fashioned, depressing and dull place indeed. Miserable owner and lady serving. I asked how much was the coffee and cake and she had not a clue! The music was dreadfully depressing and the whole place needs updating! Plaster falling off walls and mould round windows not very inviting. £3.50 for the worst slice of Victoria sponge I’ve ever tasted! Oily and I’d say it was made days ago. I’m trying to find something positive to say but it was a very strange place! We cudnt get out quick enough!

Lovely lunch, good varied menu for all ages. We had panini’s followed by coffee and Baklava, lovely jubbly.

Medium sized teapot with 3 teabags for 2 people,no hot water offered ,I asked for hot water and was given a tiny (individual sized milk jug ) containing hot water,I asked for more and was given another the same size,and asked for another it still was insufficient but I gave up. The fruit scones were large and flat and very dry,this was a most unsatisfactory visit and my friends and I will not visit again. For goodness sake a medium sized teapot needs a medium vsized hot water pot,it is not rocket science

My husband and I have gone for lunch at Elgars many times over the past 3, maybe 4 years (only noticed it then!) and because we thought it was so good, taken friends and family and recommended to others. Everyone has loved it! The food is always excellent, and they certainly aren't stingy with the portions, the menu is good, the prices are more than reasonable, and I love the table service which is prompt and efficient - always with a smile. The setting is lovely - we always chose to sit outside because it gives you a bit of a holiday feel, and obviously if it rains, it doesn't matter because of the Reindeer Court roof area. We always feel relaxed and comfortable here, wish we'd realised it was there much earlier!

This lovely charming Coffee shop and restaurant with handmade Turkish gifts for sale, is full of it! Charm, ambience traditional Turkish backgrownd music to give that ambiance to plenty of happy locals as its a locals and tourist attraction to savoir the quant ex Coaching Inn with its original Cobblestones where the horse drawn stage coaches would clatter over the cobblstoned entrance and draw up for the night and change their horses, the travelers would then alight to stay overnight or be here for business, the of owner of this fine estsblishment is a lovely true Genteman, whom is a welcoming happy Turkish man who very quickly became one of my many friends his food and most important the service from his stsff is first class so "Come on down, The Price Is Right" And the food, jr

Stopped here for a cold drink mid-morning, and enjoyed the atmosphere - renovated old buildings and shops off the main modern streets. Came back for a late lunch and really enjoyed our food and drinks. Friendly staff and freshly made salads. You feel outdoors in the walk-way, but it is all under a glass roof.

Cake was a little dry for me but with the coffee was palatable . I enjoyed the coffee. Sitting outside , the undercover walkway with soft background music ,made it feel like being on holiday.
