We ate here last Saturday evening, and it was a good thing we booked early as it filled up quickly later in the evening. The menu is pretty small, but the tapas was well cooked and presented, and the wine list was good, and decently priced. The French waitress was friendly, and efficient, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and would recommend a visit when in this part of Bristol.

Great little bar with tapas, very much like the tiny street bars in Spain. Very good service and tapas but boy does it get busy and noisy, at least it was Saturday night. Recommended lesser known North St gem.

Me and my partner took my parents for a meal at El Rincon when they came to visit. We tried to book a table on the same day but were told they were fully booked, however a few hours later I received an email saying they would be able to fit us in. We were so glad because the tapas was absolutely delicious and the portions were generous. All the staff were so warm and welcoming and even encouraged my mum to practice her Spanish with them when ordering. This made her evening. The music that began at 7.30 brought such a lovely atmosphere. An absolute gem in Bedminster. We will definitely be going back and taking all our friends! Thank you so much El Rincon!

We have lived nearby for a number of years but never visited before. We went in on a whim and had a great experience. Really good value, delicious tapas and great sangria. The service was a little eccentric but so friendly and accommodating, and there was some brilliant live music whilst we were there! An intimate venue and a fun, lively, good-value night out!

Came in mid week to a busy atmosphere they got us a table had a couple of beers while we read the menu. We had 3 tapas each an 3 beers. The food was fine but the whole meal was £70 I thought for the meal we had it was expensive. An nothing special not worth what we paid.

1st Wow factor 78 does not know what he/ she is writing about. The food is as authentic as you can get. This is personified and endorsed by the amount of Spanish people eating there. The restaurant is not salubrious but if you've been to authentic local tapas bars in Spain you will discount this requirement. The place is welcoming the food is fantastic and atmosphere is great. Paradise does contain flaws so if you want real Spain in Bristol this is it.

......feels like Spain in a squat in Bedminster but no bad thing. It has loads of charm, great food but expensive. Expect to pay main course prices for each tapas. Music was brilliant ( Fabric and the ghosts). Sweet staff. Well worth the visit.

It's not often I give somewhere such a bad review, but there is no other way of describing this place.Despite the fact that it's tiny it's absolutely freezing inside, the food is just under average and resembles something like school dinner. The staff were, well.. Just not bothered about the customer really. Not friendly, not helpful and just not staff like. Also worth noting that they stop serving at 9pm (but don't tell you this) so even though tapas is generally eaten slowly, and throughout the evening, don't try ordering bit by bit as it will be too late. It's a shame, I love an independent place, but this was such a let down.

£8 for a plate of ~10 calamari and two slices of lemon? If you pay them a visit, skip the food (way too expensive and not particular good either) and stick to drinks only!Cute place and friendly staff though.

Really nice having a live band playing in the background. Good spanish tapas and cheese but salad and bread was really bad (iceberg and unripe tomatoes). But overall, a good experience

Well what can I say?, Myself and many friends were in the area and were sure to pay a visit to El Rincon has we had previously heard so many good stories of people who had visited the venue. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman called Dave, who made us feel very welcome for our first visit, he explained the different types of drinks that were onsale, which was a decent and very well priced selection. We were fortunate as there had been a previous cancellation which meant that we were able to be seated and enjoy a very traditional Spanish evening out. We all opted for the tapas and decided to opt for the Sangria aswell. We felt that we were not rushed at any point in the evening and left at the end of the evening very satisfied by our experience.Since eating at the venue, we learnt that the venue is also popular with Bristol City and Bristol Rugby supporters when they have home fixtures around the corner at Ashton Gate, so we have attended during both sporting events - though busier the venue is still just as friendly and welcoming as the first day we visited. If you are in the area, it is one not to be missed!

El Rincon is an independent bar and language school that brings a bit of Iberian informality to the brilliant North Street area of South Bristol. The setting is tavern like - warm, friendly, cosy and set unassumingly in a row of terraced properties, with a family home feel inside the narrow bar. What it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in experience. On an average week the venue can flip between language learners, live music performances, groups enjoying Tapas, and, on Bristol City matchdays, football fans, who are fiercely loyal to the friendly and informal atmosphere.Whether it's foreign students or South Bristolians, Dave, the owner, provides a warm welcome - and a lot of laughs - for everyone. Bedminster, and North Street in particular, is already the best kept secret in Bristol, but amongst gastropubs and upmarket eateries, El Rincon remains authentic and open to all. It's coming up for a decade of being open on the quieter far west end of North Street, but for those that seek it out for the first time - or, as many do, regularly - El Rincon is totally unique and bloody brilliant. The name means "The Corner" in Spanish - it isn't on one, and that sums up its' idiosyncratic charms.

I went to El Rincon today (07/03/2014) with my girlfriend and her sister. The place opened 15 minutes late, we were awkwardly invited inside by a chef (presumably?) who unlocked the restaurant and gave us a quick beer before disappearing to the kitchen. 10 minutes after that (so almost half an hour after closing time, in a restaurant that's only open for 4 hours..) another woman arrived who quickly told us and the other few diners that had arrived that we'd have to leave as they are fully booked tonight. The woman then said that we could finish our beers and order some food, but we'd need to leave ASAP/as soon as a booked diner arrives. We were then treated to dirty looks and harried staff until we eventually just said "we're leaving".The woman (presumably the owner) who informed us that we needed to leave came across as arrogant, unfriendly and confrontational, which is no way to behave as a staff member in a restaurant. Myself and my party will never go back there again.

We bought a deal voucher for 4 ppl incl. 6 tapas and 2 jugs sangria.I booked online as i couldnt get through on the phone.after some days i still hadnt got a confirmation ,so went past the day before the booking(Tuesday,25/06/13). the waiter told us the online booking is only done by the owner and he is on holidays.so our booking wasnt done.to make things worse the voucher was only valid til Friday.as it is a small place it was fully booked for Wednesday and Thursday and no vouchers were taken for Friday as they have music on that day...he could only slip us in NOW....well,the other couple wasnt around, so before losing the whole money we decided to go for it and have all the food and sangria ourselves.the sangria was not very good, quite lemonady but the food was good, expect the garlic mushrooms, which were tinned mushrooms and not very garlicy at all.we were full after the 6 tapas, but if it would have been only the regular 3 .it wouldnt have been enough.the waiter was all on his own so the phone kept on ringing without being answered - explaining why i never got through on the phone.i think it is supposed to look like a typical Spanish tapas place, but its quite dingy with the kitchen connecting the dinning area and the living quaters of the owners i guess.would go there again ,especially not for the normal full price..disappointed!

Visited today (23/06/2013) heard good things and we were definitely not disappointed! Food was exceptional and sangria equally as good! Restaurant is small and 'homely' which we thought added to its character, staff were friendly and helpful. Only tiny negative is there seems to be an obsession with time (reading other reviews and from experience today) our booking went perfectly but we were a little surprised when two customers walked in at 415pm for food and were told they close at 5pm so there wasn't time for them to eat! This aside I cannot recommend El Rincon highly enough we will most definitely be back!

Booked a Saturday in May for 10 people, restaurant is small inside and in atmosphere. We were surprised how much food was not available on menu when they new a party was coming. Food was good but no value for money . Perfect example was i ordered garlic prawns which was 3 prawns for £6. It was a general disappointment and will not be going again

I don't think I have ever been out for a meal where I have felt I am such an inconvenience. Booked as a birthday meal- which they were aware of- table for 4 from 6pm until 8pm. Upon arrival I confirmed for the third time of being asked that yes we would be leaving by 8 since there was another booking at 8. Just before 7pm- when the last mouthful of food was still being chewed- we were asked to leave our table because there was a booking at 7. We hadn't even finished our drinks. We were told we could sit in the bar area- which is not good with 2 children (who I would like to point out had been very well behaved and had not caused a problem). As far as I am aware the other group on another table who had been there longer had not been asked to leave.I am at a loss as to the great reviews of great service. Our "waiter" was surely and he made me feel like we weren't even welcome. A special birthday evening planned months in advance ruinedOn a plus side- the food was delicious, but I can only bring myself to rate 2 stars since the whole event had me in tears by the end of the evening

Very reasonably priced and very tasty food with tapas from £3.50 - £9.00 (for the tastiest Gambas in the West Country). Wine, beer and Sagria are all available and again all priced well. If your lucky you'll visit on a night when they have some great live musicians playing. If you can't tell already, I love this tiny Spanish tapas bar and highly recommend it.

This place is amazing!! It serves great wine, great beer and the best tapas this side of Madrid! The menu is short and 90% in Spanish but just ask, the staff are great and a good mix of Spanish and English. There is live music regularly and the atmosphere is magic! I've been many times and never been disappointed - it always feels like I'm on holiday when I'm there - what better endorsement for a venue! Love it, love it, love it!!!!!

Visited El Rincon with family on a Saturday night. Never been before but read a couple of good reviews so we thought we would give it a goThe restaurant is VERY small indeed only about 6 tables. The food was very nice indeed and we have a very nice mixture of Tapas at very reasonable prices. All four of us enjoyed our food and drink. The staff (all two of them front of house) were very friendly and welcoming. One word of warning is that the El Rincon only accepts cash - no cards whatsoever.

We'd heard rumours that this place was excellent and were not disappointed. A cosy atmosphere with great Spanish music in the background and you'd be forgiven for thinking you were in the country itself. The food was superb and came in generous portions, better than some tapas sampled on a recent trip to Barcelona. The staff were welcoming, friendly and added greatly to the experience. One point to note: don't forget to bring cash, as they don't take cards!

The veggie breakfast I had was nice. There was a massive queue in the rain outside before we could be seated as they did not take reservations. The table was wobbly and so my coffee was spilled all over it as we began eating. There was generally too much going on around me to feel relaxed whilst eating. The cafe is too small for the demand. You pay when giving your order which is fine. Whilst you eat you can watch all the people outside standing in the rain wanting your table. The breakfast wasn’t so amazing we would go back, not on a weekend anyway.

Tried to get a drink in this bar at 10.40 last night (Friday) and was told sorry we have called last orders and can't serve you, there were 7 of us. I was always under the impression that last orders was one last drink before time at 11, but obviously not in this pub, so we ended up in Somerset House.

Lovely Spanish place, serving mostly small plates. They really understand the flavour of food, especially seafood (highly recommended). Great service as well.
