El bar de tapas in Stevenage

Came here for a drink with my partner. We had a couple of small plates and some drinks. The value and quality is very good overall, and very good in relation to surrounding venues in Stevenage. Service was good but clumsy at times, we had three servers ask if we wanted to order more in rapid succession- only comment to make would be that it would he nice to have more coordinated service I.e. just one server attending to our table. Really enjoyed my time here- bit of a gem in stevenage, will definitely be back.

Been here a couple of times now, and both times it has exceeded our expectations. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, and the food is delicious, and reasonably priced. I am gluten free, and they have plenty of gf options available! The place has a very authentic feel to it, and has a lovely ambiance. Perfect restaurant for an occasion or date night!

My favourite restaurant in Stevenage! The food is delicious, and there's so much to choose from. My personal faves are the patatas bravas, the fried chorizo, and the pulled brisket. I also had the biscoff cheesecake last time and that was fantastic. The staff are so friendly and service is really quick too.

We visited El bar de tapas for a dinner date following a friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint! Probably one of the best tapas we ever had! Affordable by far and tasteful! We loved the biscoff cheesecake! We will be coming back for sure!

Delightful customer service as always during all our visits. Maria is such a wonderful host who always take massively good care of us when we visit. Food is delicious with generous portions, and the prices are nominal. We would height recommend of this place for both food and ambience.

The food was authentic Spanish and loved the tapas. We went for lunch and enjoyed it very much. Only issue was the churros weren't that good.

My sons took me and 1 of my daughter in laws here on mothers day .the atmosphere was great and food was delisious and staff were amazing .agood time was had by all. Well worth a visit.

A super authentic and friendly place to eat. We have had the same waitress a few times and she is always very welcoming and informative. Food is always stunning.

My partner took me here for my birthday. We had the seafood paella. I love the mocktails they do here also. The staff are always so friendly, they even brought me strawberries and cream with a candle and sang happy birthday

Excellent! I've been wanting to eat in for a few years and finally made it. What a treat Carlos and Maria are brilliant, service was perfect, food and drink were lovely, we had 5 tapas dishes, the chorizo in red wine was amazing, garlic and chilli king prawns were excellent. can't wait to try all the dishes. Great selection of drinks. Really surprised how big it was inside. Lovely atmosphere as well with some traditional sounding music and decor. Really can't recommend it highly enough and looking forward to the next visit.

I love this place! Food is incredible, tapas and paella are super tasty. I love the tarta Santiago dessert and cocktails are delicious. Atmosphere is great and staff is always smiling and making you feel welcome. I lost count of the times we visited, but I always had a wonderful experience. Thank you all so much!

Lunched today with friends who experienced Tapas for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it, as we always do. Super food, great value for money.

Sat here just having finished the meal and can’t believe the taste and experience had. The speed at which they retrieved my beer it was like the barman had supersonic hearing. Every dish tasted amazing and Ella the waitress was super helpful with what to choose. Definitely recommend for anyone in Stevenage

We had a party of 15 guest and all loved the atmosphere and the quality of food. Staff was warm and welcoming as well as quick and efficient with all our requests.. I'm sure my guests will comeback with their families and friends very soon.

The few times I have been here, the food has always been fantastic. Waiters and waitresses are always welcoming and provide good recommendations of what to order. Tapas is always one of those dinners where it could be 3 - 10 dishes, El Bar De Tapas provides you with that dilemma as once you start. It is very difficult to stop. They also sell Estrella which is a big win. 👍. Would recommend this restaurant.

Mostly average reheated food that was served within 5 minutes after ordering it. As prompted by the server, ordered several small dishes. I only really enjoyed one of them, pig's cheeks. The kicker was the exorbitant prices. At the end we ended up paying an excess of £30 per person just for food let alone the drinks! I think the final bill came to £50 per person. The one thing I can recommend was the cheesecake. So good!

I have an intolerance to Garlic, which means Tapas is usually out the window. I wrote a note on my booking asking for dishes without garlic to be recommended. To my amazement, I arrived and was presented with my own menu with dishes I could/couldn't have and those they would prepare for me, especially. I've never had this at any restaurant. They clearly went above and beyond. Will be back!

So we had pre dinner at the restaurant on Saturday night. So glad that I booked the table as it was very busy. We love tapas as I family and as I busted my knee and nit been able to make it at home. I thought I would treat the family to this tapas. I have only come here with friends on the lunch menu. We ordered the food, my king prawns were cold, the two potatoes bravas was very different my daughter didn’t like here’s and said it was dry. It was when I tasted it. Then the hummus was to have garlic pitta bread which was not home made and went very cold quickly. The chicken my husband was nit happy with they were chicken with mango and chilli but they were dry and no flavour. The cod croquettes were very nice… that was about it. I know during the lunch menu you get bread to start but we didn’t revive any… but other tables did. Not sure if they missed us out or this was an extra to pay. The lady taking our order was nice and friendly, the food came very quick. We were asked how or meal was when we already paid. We told her about our experience and realised that she couldn’t do anything for us. I am a big foodie and my husband and my daughter both asked me why I booked this place. How my experience was in the past. Honestly, we were not impressed and made me feel that it will take time for me to come again to this place.

Terrific tapas, wonderful wine and cheerful churros. A luxurious atmosphere and Devine dining! A must visit in old town Stevenage!

This was our first visit to this establishment for a birthday treat and we were not disappointed. From the moment we entered the staff were friendly and helpful with our questions about the menu. Between the six of us we had about twenty different tapas items including desserts, plus of course the top sangria, which was fantastic. Service was fast and efficient and atmosphere good. A totally great evening out with family and will 100% be returning.

Highly recommended, food was immense, so many delicious choices and everything we chose was divine. Our waitress Sophie was so lovely, took time to go through each dish and make recommendations and was so right with all she said. Bonus was the espresso martini with Bailey's, delish and will definitely be back!

Have been here multiple times in the last few months . The staff are so friendly . The food has been consistent on each visit . We had a range of the dishes including chorizo, prawns , olives , hummus, soft bread . The only bit I haven’t enjoyed is the churros , they were a little oily for me . The atmosphere is relaxed , no matter if you are on your own or with a group

The food here is incredible, the portions are very generous for tapas portions. The restaurant is stunning and the staff were lovely, friendly, knowledgable and attentive. It was nice to visit a restaurant that’s not unstaffed for a change. The sangria fiesta was lethal! (But VERY nice) almost tasted like iced mulled wine. Definitely missing a trick not having a cover on that lovely outdoor area at the back! The food came out EXTREMELY quickly which was actually quite alarming, however it all came out in stages and was brought to the table as and when ready. Do be aware that some of the prices are higher than stated on the website. Will definitely be back.

We decided last minute to go for dinner last night - el bar de tapas is a bit of a family favourite and is always popular so not sure we'd get in. They could fit us in, if we vacated the table by 7:30pm - that really depended upon speed of service. But that's no issue here - great food, served quickly by great staff who are genuinely interested in the customers, always welcoming and look happy to be there. It will not be long before we're back again!!

We made our reservation via an online portal which was straight forward, we received a text to say our table was booked and on the day one to say our table was ready. We had a large jug of the white Sangria which was a nice change from wine. We ordered, the meatballs which were delicious and big, Patatas Bravas, Shrimp which were large and juicy, muscles and plenty of them, Chorizo ,salmon and mushrooms. Portions sizes were ample and we were so full we could not eat it all. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and all the staff were cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. The bill came to £72 - we were happy with that. We ordered too much for 2 people - and the Sangria was £19.50 - so we could have made it cheaper. Will definitely go back again. Well done El bar de tapas for good old fashioned customer service, good quality food and running a restaurant where your staff are clearly happy to work. You are one of a few in this day and age.

Visited here with my wife for the first time yesterday evening. We received a warm welcome from all the staff. Our highlights were the Ibirerco ham and the Chicken glazed with honey The Salmon and the prawns were also excellent. The whole evening was very nice from start to finish. We will definitely be back soon.

Had a great dinner with my partner here, the food came within 15 minutes of ordering and there is a wide range of dishes to choose from. Portion sizes are good especially the deserts. The white sangria is amazing, definitely recommend getting it.

Shocking Stale bread, dishes all microwaved! Had the sea bad with green beans that were grey. Food was warm and little fish it was served in was burning hot!! Food was so bad me and my partner couldn’t stop glaring at the food. No one...

We really enjoyed our visit and pretty much all the dishes we tried. The 11.95 for three tapas deal is a steal really. Highlights included magnificent tomato salad, great beer battered chicken strips, lovely croquetas and padron peppers... my dining companion felt a few things...

We ordered bread and olives which came immediately followed by half a dozen tapas that all came at once and were all cold.

This is an excellent tapas restaurant. This is a genuine Spanish restaurant unlike so many restaurants that misuse the word "tapas". The staff are very friendly and efficient. The food is excellent with superb value for money. Hope to come back soon.
