Another great evening with friends. Gambas pil pil, calamari, garlic mushrooms and goats cheese followed by perfectly-cooked steaks. All delicious and the rioja and sangria went down very well too 😁

Friendly service and very attentive. Food was tasty, adventurous and so far beyond the average pub that it shines out as somewhere special in the area. I would totally recommend this establishment.

Went Wednesday lunchtime intending to use 20% off voucher but they had offer of £30 per couple for 2 courses and extra £10 if you wanted a bottle of house wine they had a great choice including steak the staff were very pleasant and food was well cooked could highly recommend it.

Another visit to the lovely Wyke Lion for my husband's birthday, the food, drinks and atmosphere were spot on. There is always plenty of choice on the menu and offers available to use. The staff were very accommodating, we brought our own cake and they lit the candles and brought it out on a decorated plate along with a knife, plates and serviettes.

Such a lovely place, cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was amazing, would highly recommend the chicken and chorizo kebabs. The daily offers are such good value. Will definitely be back!

My wife and I (& various friends) have eaten at Ego Wyke many times. As it was my birthday I received an email offering me a “free three course meal” for my birthday. I must admit that I didn’t read the t”s & c’s. When we arrived for our booking we were given the A La carte menu and the Wednesday special offer menu. I told the waitress that I had a birthday voucher, she suggested that we ate off the Wednesday deal menu as I would get a full bottle of wine for what a large glass would cost me. We ordered off the Wednesday menu. When my starter came the waitress spilt the sauce into the saucer, said “sorry” but never offered to clean it or swap it - it ended up under the saucer when she put it on the table and there was red sauce all over the table - I moped this up. When my sea bass came it was very burnt and leathery, I don’t know why I didn’t send it back, but I didn’t. It was terrible. We both had sweets off the a la carte menu. When the bill came I was told I couldn’t use my birthday voucher or my 20% off voucher as we ate off the Wednesday deal menu. Why couldn’t I use my birthday voucher and get one sweet “free”??? Why did the waitress steer us towards the Wednesday menu when she knew I had a voucher???? We feel cheated and paid full for poor food .

Extensive menu with range of pricing options / deals on Monday lunchtime. Great value A La Carte with Birthday BOGOF offer so definitely worth being on mailing list. Service from our waitress was fabulous given party size. Food served promptly with no long waits despite being busy.

Disappointed on this occasion, usually much nicer. Brought drinks twice. Then wrong item for one of us. (Ordered Mediterranean pizza and got margarita), rather than take it back cooked the veg to go on it where pizza was cold by the time veg arrived. Pasta Mediterranean veg linguine, veg seamed under cooked. Not up to usual standard. I’m sure it was a one off as been a lot before and always been good in the past.

Second time we have visited for lunch. Service has been great on both occasions and the food is very good. However having had the pizza last time and compared to other meals eg courgette fritters I thought the size of the Moroccan chicken was too small. I

Food was overpriced and bland. Ordered the hanging peri peri chicken kebab and it just lacked flavour. Plain, white chickeny chicken. I had a mouthful and left the rest. My partner ordered the steak and it was just absolutely full of grizzle. I used to love it here but unfortunately the price no longer matches the quality.

Lovely staff and food lovely. Wine prices have gone way up. Could not fault the staff though given how busy it was. There was a couple behind us who were very unpleasant to the staff. Would suggest if you go be patient as it does get really busy, they are working as fast as they can and remember they are human too x

Nice surroundings & lovely staff. However, first time visiting & will not be in a hurry to return. Myself & my husband ordered from the al a carte chicken & chorizo paella & prawn linguine. Small portions more like from the lunch menu. Hardly any chicken & chorizo in the dish & I have had much better linguine. Friends had dishes with chips which were hard & scrappy well overdone. Drinks are expensive which to me is where they get you & make up the cost for their offers. Not really impressed at all.

We have several times now in both the old & new name. The restaurant are is qite compact and for me the tables are quite close together (we were a party of 8 though) Very clean and newly modernised and rebranded. Nice food and friendly staff Some great special offer menus. The drinks are very very expensive. Please sort out your chips and make homemade ones please, the fries and chunky chips are both frozen and tasteless

Service was good, staff were very nice and attentive without being intrusive. Unfortunately they still haven’t mastered the art of cooking dauphinois potatoes. Tried them on several occasions and sent them back for more cooking each time but sadly they remain inedible. Some people may enjoy eating half cooked potatoes but it’s not for me. The chicken supreme with tomato risotto however was delicious and cooked perfectly. The Wednesday Dine Out menu is very good value for money.

Called on a Thursday at 1.30 for lunch, didn’t book but was shown to a very nice table near the log fire. Lunch menu was good, lots of choice. Hubby had steak and ale pie and I had the mussels with chunky bread and fries. All was really lovely. The pub was very busy but we weren’t kept waiting long. Pudding was sticky toffee with vanilla ice cream, trust me when I say this…. Do not go for the mini version or let anyone convince you to share pudding….this pud was first class, absolutely gorgeous. Too good to be shared ;)

The food was delicious we had a main each coffee and soft drinks. This visit was very enjoyable and the staff as usual excellent. Although it is rather expensive the overall visit was well worth it. It is also very nice to get the 20% off food being part of the Ego club. I do go fairly regularly and since the refurbishment it is a nicer ambience. I will be returning soon.

Food was good, services was good. Price of wine is over the top nearly £10.00 a glass of 250ml Wouldn’t rush back as the prices we paid would get us in a nice restaurant. Shame because the pub is done out to a nice standard.

First time visit since it changed to EGO, service was a bit slow, food was ‘ok’ nothing special, certainly not worth the money for the hanging kebabs. We had a voucher for 20% off yet it only knocked a £1 off a £62 bill 🙈 price of wine is extortionate £7:99 for 125ml and £9:99, it used to be a nice pub to call for a drink but we won’t be calling just for a drink at those prices, it’s not even that price in Leeds city centre bars.

We visited for Monday tea. Not too busy and shown straight to table near the fire. I ordered Lemon Chicken Milanese & my wife had beef bourgignon, both were very nice. Staff seemed friendly & the atmosphere was relaxed. The only annoyance / disturbance was some guy who was plonked at the bar and his continual loud coughing! Staff applied 20% discount for an offer I had. Seemed reasonable value to me, no charge complaints on the food we had. We will definitely be back

Two dishes I wanted to order were not available- Moroccan Lamb and Eton mess. My fishcake starter was barely warm, and the Paella me and my daughter had was very bland, mine was supposed to be seafood, there was not a single prawn. My son asked me not to complain so I didn’t, the rest of the families meal was ok. We won’t be returning as the price of the food was expensive for a disappointing meal. However the staff were lovely.

Went for Sunday dinner and to be very honest it was one of the worst I had been for. All the veg seemed to be cooked in honey the roast potatoes were hard and I payed extra for the trio of meats which were all dry and over cooked, have been a number of times over the years and never had a problem with the food but won't be going back again

First visit for myself and partner for his birthday. Booked for 7pm on a Saturday, arrived 15mins early and seated straight away. It was very busy. Very friendly and attentive staff, cannot fault the service, however the food was lacking. For myself, they did not have my first choice of drink available but no worries, its only a drink. However they then didn't have my first choice of main or dessert. My 2nd choice main was fine (I had not had this particular meal before to compare to). My 2nd choice dessert was supposed to be warm, it was barely warm. For my partner the main was undercooked -l amb, red raw and fat not rendered. Offered to replace but we didn't want to wait for the additional cooking time, especially as I was already eating. He had apple pie for dessert and the pastry was soft and soggy, leaving finger indents and also barely warm. However our maitre d was very understanding and rectified our disappointment and I won't rule out going again to give it another try, maybe at a different time and trying different meals

my visit for a celebration meal with my family was very eventful. The starters did not all together. The main meals were shambolic,some were dry (hanging mixed kababs) others did not happen (make your own pizza).The desserts,one was unavailable (eaton mess). All this happened although we had prebooked all the food. But i must say the staff were polite and friendly and did a good job.The assistant manager was very apologetic and compensated with free drinks. The overall event was enjoyable and we had a great time.

My husband and I ate lunch here. Very nicely decorated with lovely furniture and a dual aspect open fire. We were warmly greeted and well attended throughout our meal, choosing from the Al a carte menu. It was all delicious we had 3 courses each! It was beautifully presented and hot. We happened to be passing the Wyke Lion at lunch time and just fancied fish and chips. What a nice welcoming place it is. The staff were absolutely lovely and it was warm and buzzing, far from what we expected as most places tend to be cold and quiet nowadays. The decor is cozy and homely and our fish and chips were excellent. Great choice of coffees and tea, all served with a very pleasant smile. Very clean with a 5* hygiene certificate proudly stuck in the front door. We will be back. Thank you.

Consistency in hospitality is always key and unfortunately here you get good, bad and middling. Let me first say that on this visit there was a 50% discount on mains so there was some value to be had and the service from Kia was both friendly and efficient. Now to the meal. For starters my wife ordered the fish cakes with soft poached egg….fishcakes were great but poached egg was hard. After being told the soup was cream of Cauliflower I quickly ordered that as it is my favourite. However, it was not cauliflower despite the chef saying it was “Spicy Cauliflower “!! Anyway I ate it. For the mains I ordered the Beef Bourguignon which was fine but my wife unfortunately ordered the Lamb rump served pink which was well done and very fatty. I did bring the issues to the attention of the staff who assured me it would be discussed with the head chef!! We had had several really good meals here which my TA reviews have shown but sometimes it just falls very short of the mark like tonight.

We both had steak and it was beautifully cooked.Puddings I had rhubarb gin crumble with custard and husband had hot chocolate brownie with ice cream .Staff was friendly and helpful with the choice of menu .
