OK but expensive - nearly £40 breakfast for two!!

Food was delicious. The chef obviously really cares about the food they are serving as I was brought an extra egg without even asking as my egg had apparently split! I hadn't even noticed, was enjoying the dish so much! Love the level of attention to detail. The staff were all lovely. Highly recommend for a nice brunch. :) lots of exciting veggie options :)

Brilliant little spot in the heart of Kemptown. Brilliant service, great food. One of our eggs were a little overcooked but the staff noticed (without us saying!) and brought out four new deliciously runny eggs! Highly recommended.

I ordered the Vegan Tuna Bowl and it was delicious. The sauce is It was a very creative and delicious bowl made with soft tofu and tuna and watermelon.

The wife and I stopped in for breakfast. First time here. Wonderful little place with nice local art on the walls and great coffee and food.

We came here twice while on vacation and both times, the food and waitstaff were excellent. Highly recommend

Lovely place for sit in or takeaway. The budda bowls are yummy and healthy. I also recommend the chicken schnitzel as is very tasty. All food cooked to order so always fresh. The staff are all friendly and make a great coffee.

This is a lovely little cafe. The food is excellent, eggs that are served with a fantastic combination of herbs and seasoning. They taste fresh, and healthy. That goes for the home made hash browns as well, at last a hash brown you can eat guilt free. The coffee is lovely, served at the perfect temperature and very tasty. The service is great, the staff are all warm and friendly, creating an unrushed and relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely be back.

Man alive, the best hash browns ever created! We stayed for a weekend in Brighton and came here for breakfast both times, it was so good! The staff were all super friendly and lovely (and also lovely to our dog) plus the food and coffee was excellent. I may need to make weekly drives back down just for the hash browns…

I ordered chilli scrambled eggs and spinach on sour dough toast with 2x hash browns. My partner ordered bacon, fried eggs on sour dough bread and a coke each. This set us back £30 after a 10% discount was applied. The scrambled eggs and sour dough were a solid 4 stars, I also tried my partners and it was very good, the bacon was super crispy, yum. The hash browns had been over complicated, filled with garlic and herbs and it was not actually a hash brown, it was more like an air fried or baked lump of mash potato. The lady asked if I enjoyed the food and the answer was mostly yes, but she asked if I wanted the hash brown to take with me and that's when I noted that they weren't to my taste, but I think she took it an insult, not the criticism intended. Hash browns have the potatoes and grated or riced, onions, dried, flavoured and fried. The response of, "well this is our unique take on them" would be accepted if it were not mash. It was not a hash brown sadly and I love hash browns. I even asked if they done them before we were seated. Lovely food otherwise though. Food was originally given to us incorrectly but the team quickly rectified the mistake. Sadly when I left my verdict with the waitress (and possibly owner) I feel she took it personally and we had to go up to the front desk to pay in the end despite it being quite quiet.

Think it's safe to say this is best place for a breakfast. Loved it so much we went back the next day. Everything from the friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and the absolutely incredible food. I had the ham hock hash with was to die for! Tried abit of everyone else's as well and was all fabulous. Well done!

Love this cafe! We were welcomed with our 2 dogs. Our delicious coffees arrived within minutes. Best brunch we’ve had in years. Lovely welcoming staff and chatty clientele who even fed their own bacon to our doggies. We will definitely be back when we are next visiting Brighton.

I frequently come to egg & spoon for the fish finger sandwich. It really is the best in town. Couple that with the friendly service and lovely coffee, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all round.

We stopped by for a mid morning brunch. My son had the Texican sandwich which he really enjoyed and due to its size struggled to finish. He ordered fries with it, which didn't come out until he had finished the sandwich. It didn't bother us but might have upset some. I had a bacon sandwich with sour dough bread. The bacon was good quality and plenty off it. I had also ordered poached eggs with it. It was a lovely sandwich but on reflection it was alot of food and I was greedy adding the eggs to my order. The coffee was strong and the chocolate milkshake went down perfectly. The menu had lots of tasty sounding items on it and the pre-prepared sandwiches looked very good. I will definitely visit again next time I am in Kemptown. Very pleasant staff and good value at around £20.

Don't eat here. Nice food and everything. I'm pretty sick. Kidneys failed, staying alive with dialysis. My life revolves around my healthcare now, almost all my time I am either in dialysis or recovering from it. Mobility impaired, I take a taxi for anything over 100 yards, fortunately this is right next to me. This morning they stopped me from coming in for breakfast, told me that I was no longer welcome, due to the coughing fit I had last time. P.S. Sorry about leaving a mess for your people to clear up, I will very much try to avoid this in the future. This is my first time with end stage renal disease, apparently I now have to restrict fluid intake, weird when we were always told to keep up fluid intake. I do hope I do better the next time around the wheel. Do you do pick up? Your food is so much better than anything I have found on Ubereats.

Had scrambled egg on toast with latte Just happened to go to this place by chance and found them to be very nice. Toast was fresh and just right with yummy scrambled egg on top. Enjoyed it to the end and would recommend it. I walked to the place so a bit unsure about the parking, however i believe there are street parking sites nearby that you need to pay for. Staff was welcoming and friendly.

Quite simply The Best Poached Eggs in the South East.

Nice food but expensive. Most definitely fits into the ‘artisan’ categories of cafe rather than a greasy spoon/fry-up kind of place, if this is what you like you would be disappointed. Bacon brioche with rocket & onion jam is delicious. Porridge with its different topping options is always good too If piggy bits aren’t your thing there are plenty of Vegan/veggie stuff to try too.

This place is unreal! The food menu is just excellent and innovative. We stopped by for breakfast one morning as they were the only place open but chose to go there 3 days in a row after that. From the baked section, the cheddar muffins are to die for, and the cakes… ohhh the cakes! Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Lovely little place for breakfast near to where we were staying whilst visiting Brighton. The food was delicious and the service was welcoming - agree with previous reviewers that it could do with an injection of slightly louder music to help with the atmosphere. Still worth a visit though!

Delicious food with plenty of options for dairy free diet (vegan). Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Great for a coffee and cake or a lunch. Food has plenty of flavour and nothing I had was bland as well as being reasonably priced, definitely worth a visit.

The cafe has a lovely cosy atmosphere with enticing cakes displayed at the counter. Menu is varied and food well presented. Chicken schnitzel was tasty as was the ham hock hash that we ordered, although I did find the hash a little on the sweet side. Also the bun with the chicken was described as brioche, but it didn’t look or taste very brioche to me - see photo and make up your own mind. Friendly and efficient service. It’s a great place to stop off for brunch or for a coffee and cake.

Nice friendly atmosphere. Delicious coffee, friendly staff. Seating could be comfier and often its limited. The food is tasty, quite rich as they cover toast in butter, but yummy non the less. The music is a little too quiet for me, as can barely be heard and the cutlery isn't good quality but all in all a pleasant experience.

We had a quick dinner here at the weekend - very nice. Our waiter, Salvatore, was a little ray of sunshine - service with a smile all the way! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Enjoyed a nice scrambled eggs on toast and decaf coffee here. Nice atmosphere to chill out. WiFi connects instantly, no difficulty with passwords. The toilet was clean. Staff were really friendly and attentive.

Lovely food - really delicious - took a long time to get the food but great once it came. Cafe was very cold so we had to keep coats and scarves on but the place is beautifully decorated. Menu is good.

Best Mocha ever. The combination of great coffee and hot chocolate, plus the skill of the barista means this is now mt place to go for a coffee treat.

The home-made cakes are lovely. The coffee is good. This is the best place to come to sit in in Kemptown now that Marmalade proper is no more.

Had brunch here and service was fantastic. The girls who took our orders and served us were lovely! Food came fast & was delicious. Would recommend the berry smoothie too! Looks like a great cafe to work/study in as well.

I just had the most delicious breakfast here this morning! I don’t write many reviews but people need to know about this place! I tried the scrambled tofu and had it with hash browns and avocado and it was sooo good! Amazing flavours in the tofu, and homemade crispy delicious hash brown and perfect coffee. Will definitely be back!

With so many fabulous places to eat in Kemptown, eateries need that something special to keep customers going back. For me, it's the gorgeous food (and fantastic selection), seriously delicious cakes, simple clean decor and lovely staff. Egg&Spoon is a brilliant find and I highly recommend a visit.

Really nice fresh food. Feels upmarket but not expensive! Would reccomend the Tarka daal and fish finger sandwich. I wanted to try the breakfast sandwiches but we were 1 minute late and couldn't order!

Fantastic little spot. Egg & Spoon is always buzzing every time I go in there. I have physio in Kemptown and I always pop in to get a coffee/bite to eat after I finish my session. The coffee is lovely (even the decaf, which is a must for me, and is rare to find great decaf in my opinion). Incredible kedgeree and also amazing cakes - the other day I had a ginger crunch (I think it was called that) and found out that it was one of the chef’s grandma’s recipe, which was lovely 🥰 the staff are always friendly and welcoming and it’s so nice to see local people coming in again and again. Support small businesses!!! This one is a gem ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My friend and I stayed at snooze and as no breakfast facilities anymore at their b n b have a deal where we get 10% off at this wonderful place! The staff are amazing especially Tiggy made us so welcome we ate in their for lunch the fish finger sandwich delicous we loved the atmosphere had a fab vibe what you expect when you go somewhere like Brighton did not disappoint! We went for breakfast twice could not fault it great food fab staff fab atmosphere this beautiful cafe made our stay very Special. Fantastic café, breakfast, lunch, brunch or afternoon tea spot. Delicious food and very friendly team. Lots of tables for 2 or 3 people, and a larger table for groups or families. High chairs available. Has a toilet for customers (downstairs). Dogs were welcome. Great variety of drinks, cakes and treats.

Friendly, local cafe with good service.

A bit on the pricey range and food does take a while to make it to your table. Although saying that the food is clearly made with care and the portion is nice without being overwhelming. Also a great place to relax if you're doing a hospital visit.

A cheery place but underwhelmed by the food. £18 for a couple of very ordinary bacon sandwiches ( served in a sweet cheap burger type bun) and coffee seems a bit steep. But it's Kemptown!

Small but querky. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere for the size. The coffee was perfect. I had the eggs royale which was delicious, cooked to perfection and looked amazing. 100% shall be returning.
