Eden Restaurant and Bar in Kingston upon Hull, City of

We had a fabulous meal here - all 5 of us entire our food. Chef came over to ask about dietary requirements, manager (John) also spoke to us and was extremely friendly. Lovely decor - very instagrammable!

Hi we visited yesterday for Sunday Lunch, I can honestly highly recommend the beef Sunday lunch it was delicious, beef was so tender. The vegetables were served separately and there was plenty for 4 of us we also ordered cauliflower cheese as a side and this was lovely too, plenty of gravy as usually I always have to ask for extra gravy but extra was served when dinner was served. The service was really good too, the only thing I can complain about was were we were sat there was a cold breeze but did eventually warm up.

It's rare I completely walk out or make any complaints as even very poor places I find excuses for the food, service, or guest journey but I'm so apoplectic after my visit tonight to the restaurant I'm compelled to write in, you have some excellent reviews and come very well recommend buy our friends and by industry in the city,but you fell well short tonight please take some time to read though my visit We arrived for our reservation and at first glance the hype was spot on, that was the peak So we walked over to the lectern waited about 3 minute, before Callie waved us over erratically from the bar, the interaction was confusing and bumpy at best, we felt like we where prompting all the way trying to extract our journey, she made us our cocktail, unfortunately for her we're both cocktail bartenders so spotted the overpour, the flat lemonade and the sloppy seconds served from the previous shake,the drink was so sweet it was sour totally undrinkable our lass suggested we neck it like a shot to be polite, we sat in the lounge still excited about the everning and the amazing food everyone has been telling us about, after laughing that the choice of songs played by the artist must have been a tongue-in-cheek joke as he seemed to be playing top 10 break up songs we where approached to take our seats, after that is we had to insist we had booked, weird question "just to check you definitely have a booking under that name" well yeah I thought we been through that bit with the bar... Anyway I asked if my drink could be change out, I was asked why so I said It was over diluted flat and too sweet not to my liking could I have a negroni, 5 minutes later was told couldn't make one, because she didn't have the ingredients fair enough it's off menu as I hadn't looked at one and I know supplies are hit and miss these days, I went for a Tom Collins, which arrived again flat and unmixed with a massive gin overpour again, like if you can't free pour just use a jigger it's no hard thing, no points for working flair if you can't see it and minus points for a crap drink. So 45 minutes passed and by this point we'd started talking about leaving, we felt like we where marked from the moment we'd walked up to the lectern, our table was crap (21) originally reserved for R Holks or something, we where just ignored we made it clear we where ready, closed the menus, sat open tried making eye contact, so for us there was so many point that just left us with a gut feeling our faces didn't fit and we weren't welcome,we decided to leave just as we where asked our order, a full hour after been in and seated, we politely declined and said we'd changed our mind, we where happy to pay for what we had so waited for the check, nothing came ten minutes passed the GM/head waiter walked around us about 7/8 times before we just upped and left, I'm still happy to come in and pay for our drinks we would have left cash if we'd have had any, no one even noticed, no one apologied, attempted to find out what was going on, which added more to the feeling we weren't welcome anyway We get to see a lot of places of all different kinds because it's our passion to see what our colleagues in the industry are doing, and this is the first time we've walked out I'm so disappointed and frustrated as it's totally upset our lass All the best and hope to hear back

We visited on Valentine’s Day, and was told we were restricted to the Valentine’s Day menu only - this was just under 50pp and advertised as 5 courses. They did not bring out the bread and butter course 1 first, but our starters instead. I had to ask for the missing course. The same thing happened with the pallet cleanser. Looking around I could see many couples had missed their bread course, it seemed the restaurant were simply pulling a fast one. For nearly £100 meal you would expect table service for you drinks, surely?? Not here, you had to wait 5-10 minutes at the bar to get a drink with your meal. This is disgusting given the prices charged. The atmosphere in the restaurant was not the best, other couples were complaining about the lack of service and bickering with each other about who arrived first which made the experience pretty awkward. We were seated next to speakers placed at sat down head level (literally in our ears!) my husband went to the bar and and said ‘can the music be turned down, it is too loud’ and the lady responded very abruptly with ‘is it?’. It did get turned down; but staff were rude. They sent out the wrong desserts and we had to send back and repeat our order. The chef could be heard kicking off about other couples complaining, so we opted to not complain, pay up and go. The food and restaurant decor was outstanding not going to lie, however due atmosphere and lack of service this is not a restaurant I would return to or recommend. I appreciate this was Valentine’s so extremely busy, however do not charge for a fine dining experience and not even offer table service.

My husband treated me to Valentines dinner @ Eden. The menu was set for the evening with 3 to 4 choices per course. The service was appalling for our table and the surrounding tables. We waited over an hour for our main, which was not cooked as requested. Our neighbouring tables experienced similar issues. One couple who refused their desert due to the delay the chef was heard shouting over the pass with expletives that they would still have to pay. Would not recommend and will not be returning

We were very impressed by the quality of the service and of the dishes that we ate - pate, duck and seabass - within Eden's eclectic surroundings. Great music, too! We will certainly be going there again.

Eaten here a few times, the food is always delicious and the service superb! Always made to feel extremely welcome and never disappoints. Would recommend it to anyone.

Looks quite nice inside which you would expect with a newish restaurant. Me and my wife ordered the fillet steak. Medium rare. Poor quality meat and could not cut through it. Very slow service. They need more staff in the kitchen. You can see into the kitchen and I could only see 2/3 people. Refused us cocktails after our meal as the old woman that makes them was too busy. Same old woman seemed to be having an argument with another staff member in full view of the restaurant. Very unprofessional. Would not recommend or return.

Came here with my mum and partner. We chose the fish of the day, the duck and the pork belly and wow the food was out of this world! Everything was cooked to perfection and the flavours all complemented each other perfectly. The head chef made us feel so welcome and honestly can't rate the food highly enough. Its fine dining at reasonable prices. We'll definitely be back again.

This is a review based on the experience rather than the quality of the food. Arrived today for lunch really hungry, was surprised we were the only two people in there! Sat down at the table to be told they had Wi-Fi problems!! There wasn’t a menu printed off. So ordered a glass of wine, waited over 45 mins still no menu handed to us! A member of staff came over and verbally offered 4 dishes, one of which was fish and chips, we would have gone to a pub for fish and chips not a restaurant, we actually thought we were going to sample some lovely food. What a massive let down and such a shame, we will never return. There was someone there? Management. Who didn’t seem to care, no one in the kitchen, no smell of food from the kitchen. Shouldn’t a menu be sorted before 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. Or write a menu out! So many ways of solving no written menu , if a little thought was applied. UNO Newland Avenue saved the day, delicious food!!

Amazing food. The Sunday lunch was the best I’ve had in a long time but a shame that the service really let this place down. No professionalism. Felt like an inconvenience. The owner needs to retrain the staff in basic hospitality. We sat without a drink throughout the whole meal and would have happily spent more if someone had come over. Felt like the waitresses friends were just in there having a jolly, being generally loud, one girl even vaping inside. Such a shame as it’s a beautiful venue and the food was delicious but really let down by the slap dash chavvy staff. We would have spent more and come again for the food but I’m afraid the service is really off putting.

Really disappointed with the service after seeing so many great things. Went early evening on a Saturday for drinks and was made to wait 50 minutes before our order was taken. Tried to order at the bar but was asked to sit back down and table service would be in place. There was only one other table in the bar area at this time. When we mentioned we had been waiting 50 minutes the member of bar staff was then heard bad mouthing to other staff because we had said something. It was a very uncomfortable situation and handled unprofessionally.

Booked very last minute, and was able to get in here quickly! Service, food and atmosphere 10/10! Blown away, by the sheer professionalism and courtesy off the staff. A hidden gem.

Came here for a last minute engagement meal for my sister after being let down by another venue. The manager worked closely with my sister ensuring there was a menu to suit all. It was a party of 35 and I have to say the kitchen team ran it very well. Food came out together and timely. I personally enjoyed all three courses of my choices. The only thing I felt missing was a side for my main as it was shared between two. The girl on the bar does need a lot more training however I’m sure it’s due to the sparse availability of hospitality staff at the moment. Venue looks brilliant downstairs since it previously being Lucca. Of course room for improvement, but would highly recommend here for dining as couples or large occasions.

We came across this place by accident and so glad we did. The food was amazing and the staff were so helpful and engaging. We didn't have a reservation but they seated us straight away with no problems. When we are back in Hull we will definitely be back. Can't rate highly enough!

Booked for a group of 10 friends and the quality of the food was excellent. Every dish was cooked extremely well and compliments all round. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. Great choice of drinks including beer and cider. Highly recommend.

Eden is a must for any occasion, recently celebrated our anniversary here and would just like to give a big thanks to everyone especially John -molly and Chelsea who went over and above to make our evening so special...the food is amazing
