Went here for the first time to try Greek cuisine, and wow.. the mixed souvlaki dish was incredible. From the home made flatbread, to the tender and juicy meats, could not recommend enough. Atmosphere could be better, but it doesn't take away from the amazing food.

Lovely food, good value, excellent service.

Been here twice and have left impressed on both occasions. Food is reasonably priced, the service is good and there was a good atmosphere. Would definitely come here again.

Took my family here for my birthday! Food service and staff all excellent best Greek food in hull without a doubt 10/10

My partner and I first visited the Aegean Taverna a couple years ago on a stay in Hull as it was within walking distance of our Airbnb and we adore authentic Greek food. We went once without booking, but were so delightedwe decided to book for my 40th birthday meal 2 nights later. This trip, we booked ahead to ensure we could get in. This was not necessary as they ended up not being fully booked but we didn't want to risk missing out. The atmosphere is lovely, drawing on the classic white and blue Greek colours, with large colourful pictures of Greek locations framed in faux shutters, at if you are looking through a window into beautiful vistas. Staff were ready to show us to our seat, and service was excellent - we were never left waiting too long but we also were given time to enjoy each course before we were visited again. For the food, we had the 'Aegean Trinity' to start - a trio of dips served with pitas. The dips were tzatziki, houmous and one we hadn't tried before called tirokefteri (a spicy feta dip). The dips were to die for, and the pitas were glorious - almost charred a little on the grill, drizzled in olive oil and herbs (mostly oregano). We demolished the lot. For mains, we had pastitsio - a popular dish on other tables, too - and a mixed souvlaki with chips and pita. I'd tried pastitsio in Zante last year, and this was beautifully authentic - a firm square of layers with that lovely cinnamon note in the mince. My partner's mixed souvlaki was also delicious - fresh ingredients cooked in house and to order. He had wanted a plate of excellent meat,and he got exactly what he wanted. I took some of my pastitsio home for lunch the next day. We had a bottle of house red that was very reminiscent of house wines we had enjoyed in Greece. Dessert we should have shared as we were quite full by this point, but we ordered separately - galaktopoureko for me and kataifi for my partner as they were out of baklava. I was slightly anxious that the 'scented syrup' my dish was served with would taste like I was chewing rose petals, but it was delicate and delicious - as was the kataifi. In all, this has become one of our go-to restaurants in Hull when we visit, and we look forward to enjoying many more traditional Greek meals here. It is also fun to watch couples order the meat platter - the menu advises you need at least 2 people to share, but it has beaten 4 couples in our 3 visits there (including us on our very first). Recommended for at least 3-4, maybe with a couple little mezze style sides.

We had a fantastic meal. We arrived slightly early for our booking but it was an early booking and we were the only ones there, a few more people arrived while we were there though We ordered slightly more than we should have but everything was amazing.i had to have a rum baba as a takeaway as I was a bit too full. We will definitely be going back.

We had lunch here today more like a banquet , very good food and I had the mixed souvlaki absolutely beautiful,great staff would highly recommend to anyone visiting great price too

Good atmosphere, but staff were rude when we were ordering and some food wasn't as described (e.g. ordered baked beetroot, and it hadn't been anywhere near an oven). I ordered the mussels which smelt very fishy on arrival, subsequently waking up at 2am white as a sheet running to the toilet. The cherry on top - once the kitchen quietened down, with a restaurant full of diners, all the kitchen staff and a few of the waiters went into the disabled toilet to smoke a cig! The whole place stank of smoke. Why not just go outside? Overall, okay in a pinch for a larger group, but wouldn't choose the Aegean again if I had another option.

Era nuestra primera vez aquí, y tanto el personal como el propietario eran muy atentos y amables. Realmente disfrutamos de nuestro primer plato del meze – fresco y sabroso. La carne que siguió estaba un poco seca pero todavía comestible. El ambiente era animado, y el personal hizo un gran trabajo para que la gente se levantara a bailar, lo que se sumó a la diversión. Sin embargo, la música era demasiado alta para nosotros; no podíamos escucharnos hablar (estuvimos muy cerca del set). En un momento, miré a mi alrededor y noté que otros parecían sentir lo mismo que tampoco hablaban. A medida que avanzaba la velada, se hizo aún más ruidoso, por lo que decidimos mover mesas, lo que ayudó considerablemente. Al final de la noche, compartimos nuestros comentarios con el propietario. Él era muy receptivo y educado, que realmente apreciamos.

What more can I say fantastic night

Hemos estado en el mar Egeo bastantes veces antes. Esta fue nuestra primera visita este año, y ciertamente no decepcionó. Fue una cálida bienvenida como siempre. Fuimos en familia a celebrar nuestro aniversario de bodas y lo pasamos de maravilla, la comida era excelente, el ambiente era excelente y el servicio era insuperable, lo disfrutamos tanto que vamos a volver viernes 21 calle 3rd para la noche griega! Si no lo has probado y te gusta la comida griega cocinada y servida por griegos, ¡te lo estás perdiendo!

I can't Imagine how this place has got such a high review. I went there with my gf, and first off waiter told us to not have meat platter because its too much for 2 people. He would literally not take my order till I picked something else, I am very serious '' its too much, you wont eat it" aaaamazing costumer service... I have asked him what did he recommend and he sad that they had this salt and pepper calamari, guess what next day I saw the same calmari we were served in farmfoods - besude that we ordered the village sausage which was cheapest sausage from polish shop with some extra herbs, really sad.... The food was very mediocre for the price (recommended starter was frozen farm foods food...), ridizio restaurants offer so much more for the price. Never going there again...

I recommended the 10 of us visit for my Mum's birthday and it didn't disappoint, beautiful food, lovely house wine, wonderful staff. From 8 weeks old baby to 80 years old grandparents, the staff were brilliant and welcoming to all my family. My brother in laws Lamb shank absolutely fell off the bone. Vine leaves and feta parcel starters are beautiful. The pitta bread is unbelievable as well. My dad who is usually a tough critic can't wait to come back!

Looked forward to this meal due to reading previous reviews, unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. We were seated next to the front door so as expected it was very cold, the toilets were also cold and unkempt as no hot water, hand dryers do not work, urinals in the men’s do not work and just not overly clean. Half of our party enjoyed their meals as they had slouvaki however the other half ordered ‘main meals’ and none of these were enjoyed. No check back during the meal making it difficult to complain or try to correct elements of the food, once our meal was finished we did complain to be told someone ‘might’ come over to deal with the complaint. Someone did come over and charge us half price for one of the meals however no apology and overall attitude to customers wasn’t the best.

First time experiencing Greek cuisine, and ohhh my let tell you... the food was delicious! The service was very friendly and welcoming, and very accommodating. Went at valentines day for date night, and the lay out of the tables was spot-on, with candles and a little rose. Very cute little touch! Will definitely be going back.

The moussaka was absolutely spot on, and the overall service was great! I would say however if you are a veggie I would probably avoid this place, but great place for Greek food!

Went last night with my partner , my daughter and her boyfriend, as always really friendly welcome by lovely staff, food was really good , fresh, lots of it, and so very tasty. Seabass devine. Had a few cocktails which were equally as good, very well made , 10 out of 10 for it all. We've been a few times , the best Greek around most definitely. We will be back soon. Xx

My third trip to the restaurant. The room is welcoming, the staff attentive and friendly and the menu packed with delicious typical Greek dishes. Starters, main and dessert dishes are well judged and with a fresh, home cooked taste. Really a pleasure and without a doubt we will be back again. The best restaurant in Hull? I wouldn’t bet against it.

2nd time at Aegean ,we had the meze set menu food really tasty and fresh , there was so much food , service was fantastic thank you to niko and the good looking one in the kitchen. Booked again for the Greek night in December

Food was rubbish to put it blank, the restaurant stinks of smoke as the servers and owners smoke in the restaurant, the balcony and in the kitchen. Chefs go outside for smoke come inside and don't wash there hands, they charge ridiculous amount for small portion of food.

Absolutely Brilliant from start to finish lovely atmosphere lovely staff chefs was brilliant, food was brilliant, a taste of Greece on our doorstep not our first visit but all visits as good highly recommended

Booked for a large party admittedly around 5 hours before. The service was very slow and it took around 1 hour to order. Then once the order was taken it took over an hour and a half to get semi decent food. Overall quite a disappointment and I wouldn’t recommend personally.

Booked up a table for 2 over the phone Asked for a table for 2 on the terrace to be told yes if we have a table when you arrive . (so no booking a table of your choice ) Arrives to 2 empty not booked table asked if we could sit there told No ! They are only for 4 people. So it all went down hill from there. We were told where we could sit no choice, remember at this point they were near empty only 3 other tables were taken . And only 3 other walk ins came in while we were there . Waiter came with wine and asked us what wanted to order . All ok We asked for a full main size muscles dish that we were going to share between us for a starter . When it arrived it was a very small portion ( rather a starter than a dinner portion) although tasty just a very small amount. For main I ordered pastitsio Again a very small portion for £15.50 it was was mainly spaghetti hardly any beef mince no taste with think gloopy cheese sauce that was over cooked and hard on top . My friend ordered the meat mixed souvlakia dish . The meat was all over cooked Half way through the dinner I had to turn round and ask the waiters to stop shouting and swearing. Although speaking in Greek I was in a Greek restaurant some people speak Greek ! Me ! No apologies were forthcoming No offer of desert I will not be returning Very poor quality very small portions and over priced. There are a lot of restaurants in this area that are good with a lot of competition. Maybe the cost saving are a step to far in this one . But this does no excuse the foul language! The photos of there food on there socials do not resemble the potion sizes that you receive that’s for sure .

Delicious food, good portion sizes, friendly staff. Sat on a pavement side seat under the sun awning, it made the experience even better. Will definitely be visiting again.

We even had the sunshine and the doors onto the street open which added to the atmosphere. We were treating our grandson to a post GCSE meal before he moves to Singapore. Two of us had starters and mine was the best tzatziki and pitta bread I’ve ever had. My grandson had smoked pork loin. For mains I had garlic scampi which came with pitta bread so I ordered chips too, I’d have preferred to have had the choice between chips, rice or bread as I’d already had bread with my starter. My husband had chicken souvlaki and my grandson had the mixed souvlaki. All were delicious and we cleaned our plates. We had baklava, some sort of unpronounceable custard desert which was lovely and a cheesecake. We left absolutely stuffed and more importantly my grandson loved it.

We went here for my sons birthday as me and my partner have been to greece lots of times and enjoy greek food..I must say im surprised at the good reviews because the food we has was bland and dry ,we aĺl had different meals and all of us said the same also you shouldnt have to season food at all ..would not come here again ,we know a better greek restaurant that tastes authentic ..disappointed and having to pay a sub charge isnt on ..

I absolutely LOVE The Aegean. It reminds my and my husband of going on holiday to Greece. I love the food and the atmosphere is amazing. If you have never been to one of the Greek nights.... it is a must. Fantastic for families and even better for couples. It's a new favourite restaurant for us.

Went here for my birthday and the food and service was lovely! We shared starters between the 3 of us that were all delicious, especially the aubergine dish. We could barely eat our mains when they arrived. Potions are very good! I don't eat meat so swapped the chicken souvlaki for halloumi and it was lovely, practically a full black of halloumi! Attend our very first Greek night experience. What a fantastic evening it was. Incredible atmosphere with beautiful food, huge portions (don't eat before you go) Fantastic staff, dancing all night with the staff joining in. Highly recommend.

Well we’re do I start!We went to the Aegean when it first opened on anlaby road and we were so impressed by the food and service we was always there , it was just so beautiful, I craved the delicious chicken slovaki when I was pregnant in lockdown and thay kindly let my hubby collect my order , I just love love love all the food (my baby almost came out Greek because I ate so much of it 🤣) . When they moved to newland avenue we thought oh no 😢 it was no longer on our doorstep, we went to the new location and oh my goodness it was better then ever . The Aegean is my favourite hull restaurant, i recommend it to all my friends, if you have not been and thinking of it …. GO , the staff are so lovely and the food is 10/10 . X

This was our first visit and will not be the last. We went for a Father’s Day lunch. We were greeted nicely on arrival and the waitress could not have been nicer. The menu was extensive and far too much to choose from so we decided to have the sharing platter. The food was delicious and plentiful, we brought home a doggy bag! Definitely recommend it x

Food was okay, even though the mixed souvlaki didn’t have any salad garnish and was dry, no sauce or dip came with it. The service was unfriendly and slow, just really disappointing. In the end we were forced to pay a high service charge. Atmosphere of the restaurant felt rushed even though it wasn’t busy and loads of staff was around that seemed to not care at all. It was cold inside since all the doors to the outside were open. They didn’t have the Meze, which reading from other reviews seems to always be the case. Not coming back.

So a group of five of us went in for a meal and basically had a really nice night, food was excellant service was better. It can be a little noisy when busy but busy is a sign that its a well run and regarded business. DO BOOK a table on a friday and Saturday as they are busy and you could be turned away as one couple was. But very much worth trying.

Been many times and always great food and service, this time got the bill and 18.65 added on as service charge . Over the 10 yrs we have Been coming here old and new building I've seen the prices of food go up and up . I no the food is quality but I think especially in hull service charge should be optional and not added to the bill . Its definitely made me think twice of coming back now as a meal for 4 was £215 with 2 round of drinks I think its definitely getting to the point were it's to expensive.

Went for my husbands birthday last night. Great food. Very generous portions. None of us could finish our food. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend to people. Whether it's just 2 of you or a party you won't be left disappointed....... or hungry. 😊

We were greeted & shown to our table & told it would warm up soon. Unfortunately it never really felt that warm all the time we was there. Table service was friendly & welcoming. Food was lovely & fresh. Tzaziki & pitta bread amazing. When we got the receipt there was added service charge. I then questioned it where they said they could remove it. My point that a service charge is voluntary & shouldn't just be added to the bill without notification. There was nothing mentioned on the menu with prices saying it would be added on. We was already going to give a tip so we left it on, but we would've given a much bigger tip if this hadn't have been added on without prior notice. It's not fair to add this on expecting it when some ppl only have money to come out to eat as a treat, plus nothing to tell ppl about the add on before ordering. The 3 star is because I like to eat in a warm comfy place, plus the service charge being added. It's still a lovely place to eat & I would recommend it.

Me and my boyfriend just being again tonight and have to say wow, the food was fantastic. We had the daily special of calamari to share for starters with a Greek salad and then he had the clam linguine for main whilst I had the the mixed soluvaki. I’m not normally a seafood person but the clam linguine was beautiful. Finished off with a traditional Greek pudding and a ferroro rocher cake. Amazing service by all the staff and would 100% recommend.

Visited for my birthday and was amazing as always. This is my favourite restaurant and still keeps the top spot. Simon is a great chef and all the staff are brilliant, really friendly and helpful. Far superior to the other'greek' restaurants in Hull. When it was on Anlaby Road we could walk but too far now. Worth a taxi ride though.

Visited with a group of friends, the venue was new to all of us, but had been recommended. We all really loved it! The food was absolutely fantastic, really generous portions (I couldn't eat it all and was kindly given a box to take the left-overs home) and a great atmosphere and the prices pretty good. We were made very welcome by the staff. The only thing I didn't like was that there was a 10% service charge added, as I'd much rather decide how much to leave as a tip. I will definitely be going back!

Been here before, would definitely come back again and again. Ordered the seafood linguine, but they had ran out of mussels, so the Chef came over to see what I wanted. He cooked it without the mussels and it was still absolutely delicious. Gave him a tip as I would so happy with the service, he came over and offered us a free dessert for me and my boyfriend. As it was my boyfriends birthday he even brought the dessert out with a candle on. We then spend 30 minutes talking to the Chef about meat, Greece and other random stuff but it was such a lovely experience. Had the best night, and honestly can't fault the service. Can't wait until we go again :)

One of the nicest most authentic greek places I've been to. I went to Greece in 2020 and 2010 and have been wishing I could have propper hreek cuisine since. I've definately found the place. If you visit you have to order the haulumi and saganaki

Dangerous place Staff was very aggressive, used bad words, try attack me , jus because I try to take an takeaway order but I did know the plate . Be very careful about this aggressive place.

Authentic Greek food! We’ve been three times now when we’ve dropped our eldest off at Uni. If we lived closer we’d be here every week. Delicious food, generous portions, great service, fab atmosphere. Everything you could want for an enjoyable family meal. We had the meat platter (really good), amazing pork chop (huge) different salads, the courgette cakes are just like my Greek mother-in-law’s. If you’re in the area I’d definitely recommend.

Heard all good about this place, so decided to book a table for tea time on a Tuesday, knowing it would be quite, From start to finish, the service, food, taste was all what you would expect. True on a weekend the waiting time for your food would be longer, but great food is worth the wait. Yet another restaurant to return to.

Although it was a Wednesday evening there was a very nice atmosphere due to there being a large party in as well as several smaller tables. Food as always was excellent and the service was top notch considering the large party. Well done Aegean Taverna!

Really excellent restaurant just wish had discovered this place earlier. Food is very well seasoned and fish is fresh. I also ordered a Greek salad under the expectation that the fish wouldn't come with any salad but we didn't really need this. The only negative thing was the stairs and toilets were a bit grubby.

Never a let down at this restaurant. Tried a few different meals on their menu and all have been so tasty and filling. We came last month a group of 15 and all the food arrived at the same time,service was outstanding.

We went all in on the tasting platter between the two of us and we weren’t disappointed. Far from it, I have never seen as much food come out! Certainly an experience and a half, would recommend for anyone visiting Hull.

We went here to celebrate a birthday, the dips were beautiful and the best tsatsiki (not sure of spelling) I've ever had, unfortunately the lack of a Vegetarian section for the mains was off putting, I had to have 2 starters as my main, which wasn't ideal, the spanakopita labeled as spinach parcels were very small and very greasy, I also had some patty type things, those were awful, so my time spent at the restaurant wasn't a pleasant one, totally lacking in atmosphere also and music a little too loud for a Sunday afternoon.
