This place is a little hidden inside an otherwise rather depressing shopping centre, but is worth seeking out. Great menu including veggie and vegan options. Nice decor, lovely staff, quick service.

One of my jobs is working for The Heart of Kent Hospice and I took some of my Volunteers out tot lunch at the Eden Cafe - (I had a had coffee their in the summer in the outside roof area - also amazing). I rebooked the numbers and we had great time - food very good and wholesome and reasonable as you would expect being a cafe. I would recommend it and the staff are very helpful and great guys.

My friend and I had an impromptu visit to town for some breakfast and thought we would try Eden. We was greeted by a lovely gentleman. Both opted for the cooked breakfast. They was very accommodating swapping a few things on there for us. And the breakfast was delicious. Cooked lovely, and very flavoursome. We will be returning very soon.

After waiting five minutes at the counter watching a waitress fold napkins whilst the manager looked through us as she talked on the phone, we decided to grab a cuppa elsewhere.

Lovely lunch, relaxing and not cramped seating so fantastic. Other places in Maidstone who can get too busy are also not as good. Definitely a hidden gem and pleased we stumbled across it after another place was full. Definitely be returning. Food great and well worth a try.

Popped in fir breakfast. I had gf avocado on toast and it was delicious. Accompanied by a soya cappuccino and blackcurrant crumble slice and needless to say I was full and ready for the day. Eden always provide an excellent array of gluten and dairy free items for my diet and the service is always good. Thankyou

Nice setting upstairs and downstairs, staff really nice and helpful. Good menu, lots to choose from and some really nice breakfast food. Coffee freshly made and really tasty. Will definitely visit again, thank you. Support local businesses, miles better than all the big chains.

I love this place! I pop in with a friend every couple of weeks for the soup adventure. I honestly think this is the best soup you will ever taste..... fresh, tasty and served with a smile. Home made and honestly....... amazing, The staff are the friendliest bunch I have ever met. They take pride in the service they give and the food they deliver. My favourite place for lunch when I'm in Maidstone.

Went here as it looked lovely. We sat down place was empty. My partner went to order but a customer was ordering ahead of us kept changing her find and generally faffing. My partner and another customer who entered were ignored completely! This person who clearly did not know what she wanted should have been asked to take the menu away and decide whilst other people could be served. Or else another person could have taken the order. The guy who entered waited over 5 minutes and left. I got up and suggested to my partner we should go else where. Eden must be doing really well financially to drop sales so easily! I come from a business family and was applaud at the lack of acknowledgement and service. We won't be coming back. It was clear to me that the people behind the counter couldn't care less about the business. Feel sorry for the owner!

I love Eden. Food is so good, staff friendly plus they have an amazing roof terrace which is beautiful in the sunshine. Highly recommend

Found by accident looking for a place to have breakfast. Fast efficient service. Friendly and fairly priced. Really enjoyed our breakfast and will definately return.

If you want good food, good friendly service, and a quieter location then this is ideal. Head away from the masses on the main shopping parts of Maidstone where everyone heads for a coffee or food chain, and support a local independent.

This is a brilliant place to eat or grab a drink. We have been return customers for years first of all in the old Bank street location and now in the larger Royal star premises. Every time I have visited the staff have been upbeat, attentive and friendly. We have been as a couple and also taken our children over the years and at all times we were welcomed and needs accommodated. The setting is relaxed, bright and comfortable with a roof garden to enjoy the sun. The food is excellent with a great selection of Gluten free options and the helpful staff willing to adjust to suit needs. I don’t usually leave reviews but felt compelled to in this case. On the spot decision to have lunch at Eden Cafe. Good food, friendly helpful staff, clean, eclectic decor, etc etc. Couldn’t ask for more. Definitely return.

Had a breakfast at the Eden with extra up grade at £9.50 . I am glad it was half price (thank you Boris) as it was no better than a chain resturant breakfast at £5.45, which have better sausages. Nice surroundings and roof terrace if you can take a climb. They wont let you use there toilet so best not drink tea or its a long walk to the up stairs Arcade centre toilet.

went as part of the government scheme. had an excellent breakfast when it opened at 10 am advocado on toast. daughter had full English. all cooked well. friendly staff and good service. will use it when scheme finishes. only complaint is the music but then my wife and daughter liked it so cannot complain too much

We visited here for breakfast with friends. Wait time was reasonable. The place was lovely and clean. The staff were helpful.Toilet was clean.We ordered the morning glory breakfast for our group and it was lovely. Everything came out hot and well cooked. The thing we all commented on was that it wasn’t a greasy cooked breakfast. It was lovely. Would recommend and we will be back. There were 4 adults and 4 children (10-12) in our party.

My husband and I both ordered jacket potato with cheese and beans and a soft drink each. Total cost just over £16. What a terrible waste of money. Potato was not hot, not cooked and hard, hardly any cheese or beans and they must use the cheapest, most bland cheese and beans we have ever tried. I left the majority of mine, plate was removed without being asked if there was a problem. Never will return as there are plenty of much better lunch venues in Maidstone

Really good coffee in a lovely setting, spacious, comfortable and on two floors. Staff are friendly and upstairs there is even an outside space to sit in. Breakfast is lovely too.

We called in to this café for breakfast. There is a pleasant seating area towards the rear of the café. We had tea and toast for breakfast the prices are very reasonable and the service was very friendly.

Our dear friend chose Eden as a venue to have his milestone birthday! Such a great place to spend time celebrating. Nice neat selection of booze, who needs a long list to choose from, perfect for a busy party. Lisa, Laura and Jo were perfect hosts, everyone kept them busy. Party food, perfect and the venue has everything you could want! Shame it shuts early but to be honest, only a good thing when everyone is nearing 50! Finished with every one wanting more, whar a way to end a fantastic night. Thanks Eden, we'll be back xx

Yeah an OK breakfast but a bit expensive for what it was.Coffee good and hot.No extractors in the cafe and the atmosphere was a bit greasy and off putting.Not nice!Not sure I would go again as there are better and cheaper alternatives in Maidstone.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that they could offer me several vegan options for breakfast, lunch and even cakes.I chose the vegan wrap with salad, and we sat upstairs which is a deceptively large area, but cosy. The wrap was delicious, and I shall return to sample their vegan breakfast or cakes.

I had a busy, testing day ahead. I decided to start off with a decent breakfast then remembered Eden. It's really relaxed and the staff are so professional. I went for the Salmon Royale: scrumptious. The rest of the day ran well...and if it hadn't I'd still have felt that I was on to a winner. Next time in Maidstone I'm going to set off early and treat myself again.

I’ve passed this cafe so many times, so don’t be fooled if like me you thought it’s a tiny tea room. Upstairs is huge and there’s a large room at the rear. The food was satisfactory but it’s the ambiance and service that did it for me. I’m definitely making this my ‘go to’ place for lunch.

Friendly cafe in Maidstone town centre. Good food in pleasant surroundings. The toilet flush button was missing and the table had not been cleared from the previous diners so cannot give 5 star. With said they were busy and we will go again.

I hadn't visited this café since it's move to the Royal Star Arcade. Really nice little café - we particularly chose this venue as my youngest daughter loves a fish finger sandwich. Which she ordered and loved.

This is a hidden gem, and we had a lovely lunch here. Lovely service and staff. Great tasty food, we had the pasta dish and would recommend this.

Choose this cafe as it is suitable for vegans and it also gluten free. Lovely selection of food, not quite a good selection of cake. Fairly reasonably priced.

This place reminds me of the little cafes around Covent garden. Pop in for breakfast, a light lunch or a sandwich. Fine quality and value for money. Not too noisy if you are meeting up with someone for a cosy chat.

I’ve frequented mot sandwich bars/cafes in the area and Eden is the best in my opinion ! Helpful friendly staff, chilled out environment, great cakes and drinks whether you want a sit down meal or grab a quick takeaway sandwich - check this place !!!

This café has recently moved from Bank Street to this site. Difficult to judge which is the best site (for passing trade).

Had lunch with friends in this hidden little gem at The Royal Star Arcade, friendly staff, great service, fantastic food and great coffee, will definitely be back the next time I’m in Maidstone! Well worth a visit.

The breakfasts here are always delicious and freshly cooked. The staff are friendly and are always happy to amend a dish to suit your tastes (like my daughter's eggs benedict without the hollandaise sauce). Well worth a visit.

My daughter and I had an amazing Full English breakfast and when ordering we asked for the bacon and sausages to be cooked ‘well done’ and this was carried out for us to perfection.

Great place to come in the week: - The staff are very kind and accommodating. - Good food (paninis are really good), as are the coffees - the wifi is excellent - homely feel. Highly recommend it.

Very disappointing experience. Having sat down and realised that we have to go up and order only then being told that the breakfast menu (that doesn't specify breakfast times and is with their other main menu) was no longer being served. I Kindly asked the lady serving if she would simply ask if they would do two sausage sandwiches, she shouted across to the kitchen where a woman barked back 'NO!', so that was that, we went somewhere else.

I love this place! It's so good if your vegetarian or want something home made with a lot of effort put into the food instead of the usual plain cafe food.

I was feeling peckish and I came upon this wonderful cafe. I ordered Egg Mayo and Cress sandwiches with Sprite - the sandwiches were so rich tasting and well-made, I had difficulty finishing the second one! Nonetheless, the service was friendly and good and I would recommend it to friends and family if they ever need a quick pick-me-up!

Bacon Sandwich parecía que se podría hacer con algunos tocino. A £3. 95 esperaba algo un poco más emocionante.

Primera vez aquí con mi tía y mi hija tuvimos una mezcla de alimentos que tenía huevos benedict tía tenía un desayuno de campanillas y mi hija tenía un sandwich de salchicha! Nos estaba muy contento con las comidas y el servicio! Entonces mi hija recibe una de sus sangrados de nariz y el personal era muy servicial en ayudarla! Always a pleasant experience with with a good choice of food offerings. The staff are very polite if maybe sometimes if gets very busy its always worth the wait.

I have visited on my own before but brought my mum & dad there as they've never been or knew if was there. What a beautiful cafe & the staff are incredibly friendly & helpful. The ambience is one that makes you feel at home. The coffee is by far the best in town. I chose to have a simple plain chicken salad with extras. They cater for all needs. My mum & dad both had a sandwich. My dad, cheese pickle salad which is made with "proper" cheese & proper doorstep. My mum had plain tuna salad sandwich. Both thoroughly enjoyed. The breakfasts & pastas that were coming out looked & smelt divine.A real treasure is eden.Firm favourite of my parents now. As well as my aunt & uncle who bring their friends to.

I have visited Eden twice in the last two weeks and each time the service was good the food very good and the price reasonable I don't anticipate being in Maidstone in the foreseeable future if I was I would eat here

Lovely staff , lovely food. it is a cafe I recently have started to go to and would recommend it to anybody .

We visited for a quick lunch having not visited before and were more than pleasantly surprised. A cosy little nook of a cafe but with all the bells and whistles and lots of veggie options. When we visited it was packed to the eaves but service was still running faultlessly and with a smile. They were so busy they had run out of small coffee cups and so simply upgraded mine to a larger one for free. A good honest place that seems well run.

I am a big fan of using local trade and never more so than when deciding on a cafe to eat and/or drink. Eden offers a wide range from excellent breakfast, through lunch (notable fish finger sandwich!) to afternoon tea and cake which was the purpose of my visit this week. this is privately owned and it shows in how much they care for their customers.anyway, coffee and walnut cake was excellent!

If there is a better selection of truly home-made food in Maidstone at a fair price, I'm yet to find it. Sandwich selection is classic but not boring, chilli is awesome, and they're lovely folk too!

Wow the service here has slipped! Young lady messed order up, I have experienced this previously with same server on a take away. It appeared to confusing to answer if there was a meat spag bol as opposed to only quorn option. I was advised to have the chilli as basically the same and not spicy so wouldn't know. I asked for the quorn pasta and got a baked potato! On reflection it was average at best and the eat in prices are a huge jump from the take away. I accept there are overheads but actually it's not great value and has become a victim of its own success... ok for take away but otherwise it's not worth the money .. sorry but sad to say won't bother again there are plenty of other options ...

Lovely place for breakfast with many options including a vegetarian combo. My partner loved the morning glory, a nice traditional English brekkie. Decent coffee. Helpful and smiley staff.

Highly recommended. I have had pasta dishes, jacket potatoes and an omelette here recently. Pesto pasta is very tasty as is the jacket with chilli.Very friendly staff and also willing to take telephone pre-orders to save you time.

I have been into Eden many times now I went in today with my partner and my little boy .staff are really friendly food was tasty and the atmosphere was very chilled . Lunch times can be very busy so grab a seat while u can worth a visit every thing is made fresh to order and all food is locally sourced.in my opinion I like this as chains are all eat out of a packet food.def not for me . I just wanna say my food was great Eden keep up the good work

I have ordered a take away from Eden a few times as it's so expensive to sit in and eat (nearly double the price!)On two occasions now I've got back to the office with my order only to find I've been given someone else's. I didn't say anything the first time however called to let them know on the second time. I person on the phone made it out to be my fault for not checking! I appreciate that I could have checked however when the panini is wrapped up you don't feel like unwrapping and it there and then only for it to be cold by the time you get back to eat it! Unfortunately I won't be returning for either a take away or to eat in.

We had a lovely breakfast here last Saturday , very good food nice staff ,and nice place will defiantly go back in future .

I popped in here recently for breakfast which for a full English is around £8ish. The food took quite a while to come out but when it did I was disappointed. The bacon was like rubber with more fat than bacon, the toast was stone cold and the egg just covered in grease. My coffee was also bitter tasting. The whole meal came to around £10ish and in no way was worth the price tag. I didn't used to mind paying the extra here as the food has always been good quality but it's gone down hill. Won't be returning as Meet Me on Pudding lane is much cheaper and serves lovely good.

We went for breakfast, I ordered the full breakfast and my husband ordered eggs benedict with two cappuccinos. My fried eggs was cold, the sausage was dry, as though it had been cooked the night before and warmed up, the bacon was dry. I asked for white toast and got brown. My husbands eggs were hard, the yokes were solid, the sauce smelt and tasted very odd not nice at all. The coffees were served very hot, and were ok, just about drinkable. I ate half of mine but my husband couldn't eat his. We did speak to the lady and she offered to cook him another one, but even if the eggs had been cooked better the sauce was horrid. She didn't charge us for my husband's breakfast, but I wouldn't go back. Very disappointed

Lovely content to the traditional English breakfast. Best menu around. Shame the plates are always cold. By the time plate reaches the table the food is all cold.

Friendly and spacious independent coffee shop just off the high street.Nicely decorated and decent collection of cakes and lunches. Very popular at lunchtime which is unsurprising by the quality of food and friendliness of all staff. Loved it.

This cafe is quirky and lovely food but you pay nearly £3.50 more to eat the same food there instead of taking away. I appreciate you pay for the seating, atmosphere etc but there are lots of other places just as nice that are loads cheaper.

Lovely place to eat and drink away from the madness of the high street. They have high chairs, lots of seating and the food is very high quality. They do take away as well. Worth a visit.

Hidden away down the pedestrianised bank street this early morning cafe is just the place rot go if you've had enough of hotel food. Staff are very friendly and they'll organise whatever you want to eat - even if they don't usually make omelettes. Flat white coffee is good, too and it's included in the price of breakfast before 11am

I've been to this little place quite a few times over the years I really love it but this time I was surprised by the change!Has it been taken over or just a maid over?The portions are smaller and less flamboyant - The zest of the place seems to have gone ! :-/Still nice food but small portions and the creative flair is lacking Tiny salad on edge of plates no crisps to go the panini :-0Would be nice to get a few with the salad on the side Bring it back to how it used to be!!PleaseeeeeeeeI was unimpressed and my daughter had to wait as when the order came out hers was wrong mine was correct !! :(

Quaint and homely place to eat which my wife and I enjoy to visit when we go shopping in Maidstone.To be honest it attracts us to the town more than the shops.Well used at lunchtimes when we have visited.Able to provide take always as well but be prepared for healthy eating options.

Was looking for somewhere to sit down and have a light lunch whilst my car was being MOT'd.The cafe's frontage looked nice and eggs benedict was on the menus so I went for it!Really warm, friendly and trendy place. The staff are really nice, the food was very good and the old school jazz (Louis Armstrong etc) created a nice classic cafe atmosphere.Will definitely happily come back. Glad I stumbled across it.

So glad I discovered this gem. Even does gluten free bread which is great for my coeliac son!! Admittedly the menu has shrunk a tad but it won't stop me coming

Excellent little cafe, great food and decor in the cafe part. Only thing that lets it down is the toilet, it's a bit grubby and there's only one for what is quite a large cafe.

Wow, I've fallen in love with the place. Amazingly lovey staff, brilliant coffee & gorgeous food. I popped in for breakfast & ordered the Highland. It was just so tasty, best scrambled eggs I've had away from my own home. Just loved the place so much that I'll be back in tomorrow!!

I have used Eden for years and return again and again because I love the ambiance and the friendly staff.The food served is the best in Maidstone IMO and trust me I have tried them all. The breakfast is fantastic and the wide range of sandwiches are always splendid.

I've eaten here a few times and although it's more expensive than most places (especially for breakfast) the lunches are tasty and it's a nice place to sit and relax. The falafel, halloumi and jam panini is highly recommended.

Lovely shop with a perfect atmosphere and friendly staff. Haven't tried much of the food as the chicken and coleslaw sandwich I bought was so good I can't stop getting it! Not skimpy on the perfect homemade coleslaw either. Going for lunch today to try a salad.

This little cafe has a really nice atmosphere and the food is Ok. There is a variety of seating from tables and chairs to sofas and coffee tables. Service is generally very quick and the ladies who work there are really helpful and deliver good customer care. Slightly unfortunately the last time I went there the jacket pottato I had was watery and tasteless but this was counter balanced by a good portion of prawns.

I had been trying a few different places in Maidstone for breakfast and had passed this place a few times while walking up Bank St which is parallel to the High St. The place has a bit of a rustic feel to it. I ordered at the counter. I was looking for something light to eat with my cappuccino and settled for a flapjack. The coffee was brought to my table and was good.

Good choice of freshly made food. Homemade soups, sandwiches made to your own requirements, great coffee, and also wines and beers.

We popped on here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The food is all organic and the menu for a small establishment is very good. The orange juice is freshly squeezed and is so good. I had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. The eggs were light and fluffy and there more than enough salmon. Really tasty. The full English is also good but I think the bacon had been kept warm it was a bit tough according to my friend nether the less is was eaten. There are boxes of books to browse through, a few toys for the little ones too. If you visit the loo read the back of the door! The prices are good, the food is good and the staff are lovely.

I have not been to Eden in a long time. As I had been hooked in by chain coffee shops. However it is still as good as I remember. Fresh sandwiches. Lovely cakes. Excellent coffee. Helpful staff.

Being local I quite often pop in for lunch or coffee when shopping such a lovely relaxed place to chill out coffees are always piping hot and food arrives quickly freshly made and never disappoints I would recommend

We have been there this early morning for breakfast and were very nicely surprised to find such a lovely place in Maidstone. Very nice atmosphere! You can see someone's heart and soul in there as they created beautiful place from such a simple things! I love these kind of places.Nice smiley ladies working in there, I'm sure they have plenty regular costumers :) And food very fresh and tasty! Price really good; for English breakfast and crumble egg with salmon we paid only around £13 plus free coffee/tea before 11am! Definitely will be coming back.

Having visited many of the large, chain coffee places recently, Eden was a completely refreshing experience! I met my Mum here for lunch yesterday. The service was superb, the environment was comfortable and welcoming and the food was wonderful. My Mum had the jacket potato with chilli, which looked extremely tasty, whilst I had the ciabatta with grilled halloumi, mushroom and pesto. It was out of this world! I couldn't manage it all at lunch time so took the remainder home for tea. I look forward to visiting Eden again and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

I had not been to Eden for a while due to a change in career. I went back in there today to order my favourite sandwich,( bree, rocket and tomato), and it was as delicious as ever! I will hopefully be back again real soon! Lovely staff as well.

Had a lovely visit here today. Chilli and salad, my friend had quorn spag bog on a jacket. Both had fresh orange juice. Chilli was nice but the salad was nicer so wished I'd had one of their specials on the board of different salads. Will return.

I really like it in here and we do visit quite often but unfortunately the food prices seem to be ridiculously high for what is essentially a cafe especially if you eat in so we tend to just have a coffee and go elsewhere for food as most decent restaurants in town have cheaper lunch menus. Shame really

Very commercialised very expensive and not worth the hype in my opinion. There is also too small paths so that people can not pass easy if one has a buggy or such

After a spot of christmas shopping in Maidstone me and my partner thought we would grab a festive coffee and a quick little lunch. We both agreed not to go main stream to one of the chain coffee houses so we found Eden down a back street wanting to support the smaller business.After a friendly and warm welcome we order our food which was to Turkey and stuffing paninis, and a couple of mulled wines.The panini was one of the worst I've ever tasted with the smallest slice of bought in turkey I've ever seen it was very embarrassing to be honest my partners was equally as bad. It might as well have just been a empty roll. The level of care that was put into this meal was very low and at £4.95 each it expected much more.Not ones to complain we asked for take away cups and left feeling very un christmas like and very disappointed.The mulled wine was nice but we won't be returning here I'm sorry to say we both agreed that we should have gone to one of the main stream coffee shops instead. Shame really

The title says it all really, I've been using Eden since it opened and they really look after you with regards service and food. Great range of choice with their sandwich/panini/ciabatta range and their pastas and salads are scrummy.

I have eaten in this little cafe on a number of occasions and have found the price steadily increasing. I ordered poached egg and beans on toast with a coffee to eat in, this came to £7.80, very expensive for 1 egg, a few beans and a slice of toast with coffee. This is a popular cafe however there are lots of others around that are considerably cheaper and better value for money.

Have visited Eden several times a year since it opened, and it has never disappointed. Really nice food, friendly and helpful staff, lovely atmosphere, always full of a huge variety of people, from young families to business men. Even nicer after a refurb, shabby vintage Scandinavian decor makes it feel like a home from home. Congratulations on such a lovely little business, keep up the great work!

My husband discovered this little gem in whilst wandering in maidstone. Ever since we continue to visit, typically for a morning glory or in my case a korkers panini. The restaurant has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the staff are fantastic. In fact we love Eden so much we asked them to cater for our wedding. Which by the way was amazing. Two years later we still visit the girls for a coffee and something tasty. xXx

I went to Edens with my girlfriend recently and we wanted a light lunch. We had a chicken mayo and salad sandwich and it was so lovely. Each sandwich was filled with beautifully cooked chicken and freshly made sandwich, we couldn't fault it. For the price you pay it's expensive but you do get what you pay for. The only downside is there wasn't anyone inside the cafe therefore there was not much atmosphere but this may have been because it was midday during the week. Beautiful place and will return without a doubt.

I've been loads of times. Delicious, freshly prepared food, reasonable prices. I have brought many friends and family members here over the years and will continue to do so. Only downside is they're shut on Sundays which is often when I'm in town, so I can't go as much as I'd like.
