One of the best cellars of the UK. Great team, great selection, Great prices. You are looking for quality wines, must add, high quality wines ... this is the place ! They did not change prices of some grand crus from Burgundy ! Wine is passion and this place is showing such a remarkable selection of fine winemakers, with the love of the owner and its team ... GO !

A friend bought me this cellar tour as a present. The tour was informative (apparently the first secret meeting between the IRA and the British authorities was held here). However, the highlight was the wine tasting, an excellent selection and amusing commentary. Afterwards I was able to buy some excellent wines at a heavy discount. The business is reorienting from wholesale to retail.

I went here for something to eat, im not a wine drinker...the food was fast and very nice, the dessert was to die for keylime pie you have to try! I had the minute steak which was filling...the staff are lovely and friendly and polite. The outside was lovely esp on a summers night....keep up the good work ill be back soon!

I love the place and the atmosphere in this establishment, however the burgers do not live up to the hype. I would much rather have their baguette/sandwich. Good drinks, but service can be a little slow.

Like many people, we bought a Groupon voucher. Took our two twenty-something sons, both home for a fortnight staycation, for an activity as a change from sports! We all thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon learning about the surprisingly significant history of this Wine Merchants. Very entertaining tour-guide' Dale, also guided us through the generous tasting of 5 different wines, with several top-ups; very relaxed and laid-back proceedings! Particularly impressed by a white port at the end (having previously favoured aged tawnies) and we indulged in a bottle of that for Christmas plus a bottle of wine each, as souvenirs. We were there for some 3 hours overall. It was a lovely sunny afternoon and it looked very inviting in the courtyard- will return sometime for a meal.

We came to Sheldons full of expectation having heard lovely things about the courtyard. On arrival we were ignored by staff who simply breezed past us without acknowledging our presence. We were shown to our table and ordered drinks, the wine came but no water and the staff had to be reminded. We then ordered food which when delivered only half of the dish arrived whilst we then sat and waited for the rest to come before eating. At no point did anyone come and ask how the meal was. The meal was very average, there's huge potential here to serve lovely deli boards with a wine flight offering their expertise in wine choices. Once the plates were cleared no one came back to offer us deserts or coffees. We could have left the restaurant and nobody would have even noticed. A beautiful setting let down by inattentive staff and a very average menu On the upside the wine was delightful a Charles Baur vin d' Alsace Riesling. Don't rush here

Like other reviewers, this was a gift on a Groupon voucher. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the cellars, and the information given about the different wines we tasted. It was fascinating to see where the great and good have their wine stored as well. We were horrified that some wonderful old record books were just left scattered about and were rotting away. There must be so much history attached to them. We were warned about flat shoes but not about taking a warm jacket, as it was freezing in the cellar which did distract from the tasting. We were surprised that we were not given anything to eat between each different wine, as at other tastings we have been given something small e.g. savoury biscuit or bread, to refresh the palate. Overall a very pleasant afternoon, but we would not have paid the full price stated, as it was excessive.

A groupon voucher from my sister in law for my husband and I. An enjoyable and interesting afternoon learning all about the company - Sheldon wines and wine in general.Only downside not enough wine samples and the overall tasting too formal almost teacher - pupil. Would recommend to those who appreciate fine wine.

We treated our neighbours with an alternative Xmas gift, and joined them on the tour so they could sample all the wines in full during the tasting session at the end of the tour. Well I can only say the tour was fabulous and Dale our tour host was brilliant. He was the star of the tour and tasting. Delivering an in depth insight into the history of Sheldons and how the history of wine and its sales developed throughout history. Walking through the different areas of the cellar takes you back in time, even a tale o tell of a resident ghost. Onto the wine tasting which was conducted in one of the rooms above the cella as it was too cold to stay in the cella area for this. The tasting started with a sparkling wine followed by 2 white and 2 red wines. Dale gave an in depth review of each taking time to discuss questions and opinions from the group. This tour is a great alternative for all walks of life, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend a visit. As part of the tour you receive discount on purchases after the tour. I have added some pics to give you a taste of what to expect. Once again many thanks to Dale for making this tour so enjoyable. PS there are a few stairs the navigate and the cella floor is as you would expect not smooth so wear flat shoes.

After experiencing the cafe on one of their club nights, myself and my husband were completely sold with Talton Mill Cafe as the venue for our wedding party. Fran and Liz headed the venue and their input was impeccable. Everything we loved about the place was brought to our day - a cosy vibe, relaxed, beautiful, and delicious! Everything on the menu was homemade and worked perfectly with the environment. Fran and Liz listened to our ideas and needs for the day and delivered. The weather wasn’t bad either!

The drinks are fine , cakes are fine and the venue is fine but sweet Lord the server a middle aged lady with glasses and greying hair is abrupt and unfriendly to the point of rudeness. Think Basil Fawlty on a bad day. If you don't want to be pleasant get a different job. To be fair we are normally served by someone quite nice.
